@lespameo some of the prescribers (e.g. Oushk) will let you join a maintenance plan where once you've followed an MJ programme and lost weight, you can go back on MJ if you find your weight going up, rather than waiting to have a BMI of 30 before being re-prescribed. That would align with your option 1, I think.

Bumblebeehum · 10/02/2025 14:16

@mimosa1 could you tell me what syringes you got please? I binned my last bonus-dose as couldn't get it out, I really don't want to throw another away!

mimosa1 · 10/02/2025 20:17

Hi @Bumblebeehum I got insulin syringes off Amazon but never actually injected as I messed up the first dose - I was a bit scared tbh, especially as the labelling was in Chinese and I could t get the air bubbles out so gave up. I think I'd feel better if I got some from a pharmacy and will prob do that. @85reasons kindly gave some tips below so I will try that next time.

SpottyBumPony · 11/02/2025 09:33

SpottyBumPony · 11/02/2025 09:35

@Seldomseenkid congratulations on reaching your goal!

I bought some 8ml insulin syringes from Amazon. It was a bit scary the first time but fine after that

LittleBitAlexa · 11/02/2025 12:34

I've been feeling a bit meh about it recently. Weight loss seems to have stalled even though I'm on a higher dose (7.5). Appetite suppression is not what it was. Just went mad and stuffed my face.
However...... my binge was a packet of crisps and a small bag of Dolly mixture- so about 400 calories. Could be worse couldn't it?

MandarinDentistTiger · 11/02/2025 16:27

@mimosa1 I turn the pen upside down and tap as previously advised. I use syringes from Amazon

MandarinDentistTiger · 11/02/2025 16:29

@LittleBitAlexa I'm the same. My weight loss is consistent but on the slower side.

I am finding the few treats days are more restrained than they would have been. 400 calories is easy to correct over the week.

MandarinDentistTiger · 13/02/2025 22:31

Took my next 7.5mg last night. Nearly 23 weeks since I first started. I will weigh in tomorrow

I have felt much better than my usual first few days. I ate very lightly before, left at least 4 hours and drank a lot of water. It stopped my stomach from being upset.

I've got used to the 'meh' feeling - my weight loss has become extremely slow, but having said that I'm also very consciously not dieting. Having spent years tracking carbs, calories, protein, etc and thinking about whether I've been 'good' or not and how that equates to a number on the scale... having taken the MJ and realising I can eat some of the bad stuff without bingeing means that I'm determinedly eating what I want. It's just that with MJ 'what I want' mostly means eating healthily but allowing myself to have carbs and sometimes, eating half a packet of Gifflar (a particular favourite with my teens!) Grin

I think for that reason also worrying about the number on the scale is becoming less important. I am probably weighing twice a week (again have been an obsessive daily weigher) - it's weird because this is not me feeling zen about the whole thing, I'm still a bit frustrated that the weight loss is slow - but I think the need to not diet is outweighing that for me.

I'm about a stone from my goal weight, which has a lot to do with it. I feel like it'll happen in its own time now, and I don't plan to come off MJ entirely. I've now signed up to Oushk's maintenance plan for the time being and want to focus on getting my exercise up and making that the main thing I think about rather than food/calories etc.

MandarinDentistTiger · 14/02/2025 20:32

2lb off this week. Really hoping to push and get down into the next time bracket.

Total off in 23 weeks is 3 stone and 1lb.

Seldomseenkid · 15/02/2025 08:55

20bloodypounds · 09/02/2025 13:38

Fantastic @Seldomseenkid I know that some people might be on WLI for ever, but also interesting to see how others are planning to use it to achieve their goal, then put their effort into maintaining and living a better lifestyle than they may have done before.

If you ever did find your weight creeping up would you consider using MJ again? Or go hard with another weight loss approach? Or do you think that your 3 stone loss is enough of a motivator to keep you within an acceptable range?

These are questions that are at the forefront of my own mind as the end of my current journey gets closer. I admit to feeling a bit anxious about going it alone so I might keep a pen or two as spares, just in case. But that's an expensive insurance policy!

Interesting questions! I think the side effects for me are enough that I would think extremely hard about going back on. I do think that the 3 stone loss is enough motivation for me to keep within my acceptable window. However I’m aware that I’ve been here before and put it back on!

I really do feel that the almost 6 months on MJ has allowed me to review how I got overweight again. I was pretty delusional about how much I’d gained. When I started MJ and calorie tracking it became obvious that before I was regularly overeating by 500 cals a day. I thought my busy life translated to active. It’s not. The step counter reflects that!

So I feel that I now know what my body needs and that I can’t become complacent. That’s not to say I can’t have the food and drink I want but I have to accept that the portions need to be reduced. I also think I’ll need to calorie track to keep me vigilant. That might be some people’s idea of a problematic attitude to food but I kind of think it’s my version of self care. spend 10 minutes a day putting in food, perhaps planning ahead and ultimately keeping within a weekly calorie allowance.

I’d definitely not be averse to returning to MJ if needed again. It has changed my life by allowing me to look at my habits and what changes I needed to make.

mimosa1 · 15/02/2025 16:21

Hello everyone,
I've put on a kg this month and will likely need to move up a dose. That said, I'm at the airport waiting to go away for half term and realised in the mad rush of this morning I forgot to take my dose. So it will be interesting seeing what this week is like. We are going skiing with friends who like a drink and there will be lots of delicious food but hopefully the exercise and early morning wake ups to get the kids into ski school means the results won't be too bad when I get back.
Wishing you all a restful week!

StanleyCup · 16/02/2025 11:45

SW 23.09.24 98.6kg (15 stone 6)
CW 17.02.25 71.2kg (11 stone 3)
Loss to date 27.4kg (59 pounds)
GW 57-60kg? (around 9 stone to 9 stone 7) somewhere in the middle of the healthy bmi range

Moved up to 7.5mg after weight loss slowing a bit and food noise creeping back. This has done the trick. I stayed at 5 for slightly too long for me as I was worried about side effects, luckily haven't had anything other than a few sulphur burps.

NSVs I can do 4 pull ups in a row in the gym (I could never do pull ups before so massive for me!) and can run 5k in under 30 mins!

Happy loosing everyone, thanks for the posts it keeps me motivated 😀

20bloodypounds · 17/02/2025 13:47

Fantastic updates. I'm another who is on a bit of a stall, but like @85reasons I'm enjoying not being obsessed about food or weight - what a relief.

I'm off somewhere warm in another 7 days - can't wait, this cold and damp is really getting me down. Desperate for a fresh seafood salad in the sunshine...

GoldieLocks09 · 17/02/2025 15:56

Have been a little quiet on here recently, but still tracking along - have realised I'm averaging about 1/2 a stone a month now which feels really manageable for me.

Sitting at a 3 stone loss now, on 7.5mg, have got very used to the side effects now and they don't bother me at all.

I'm getting a lot of comments now about my weight loss and general appearance which I must admit after feeling so grossly overweight and like I was spiralling after the birth of my second baby in late 2023 is a very welcome phase to be going into - I'm about half way to go my goal, which means by the summer I should be where I want to be.

Weight after DS2: 17st 7lbs 🤮
Weight when starting MJ: 16st 5lbs 😑
Current weight: 13st 5lbs
Goal weight: 10st

SybillaB · 17/02/2025 18:16

I read all the posts and I’m in awe of all the amazing losses. I realised early on that the injections would work for me at my body’s own pace. I now understand how much I actually need to eat and that treats are just that, not a daily reward. Today I realised I’m 2lb off losing 2 stones. Happy Monday everyone 😀

MandarinDentistTiger · 18/02/2025 00:54

@GoldieLocks09 our journey has been almost identical.

I don't really feel like I look any different. I know I am able to wear smaller clothes so I must do. Maybe I can't really tell because I'd still like to lose 3 stone.

I am going to an office in a different city later this week. I wonder if anyone will notice? If they do, they probably won't say.

Tipster100 · 18/02/2025 08:03

My weight loss has massively stalled but it is gently moving. I have been on 5mg since October and I think I might need to increase. I still have a new 5mg pen - not sure if it's best to dose every 5 days or take one and a half doses when I next inject. Does anyone have experience of which is the better option? Does it make any difference?

Well done on all your losses. I like to think our organs must be so much healthier without being wrapped in so much fat (I've been trying to focus on those parts of weight loss!). Happy Tuesday everyone.

EBoo80 · 18/02/2025 08:34

Hi @Tipster100 - pharmacy advice is always to change frequency rather than mess about with quantities. But I know others on this thread manage to alter it successfully (too much maths for me).
depending on its expiry date you could always keep the 5mg pen for maintenance/titrating back down? I’ve done that with a 2.5 that I bought optimistically.

Bumblebeehum · 18/02/2025 09:32

Morning all, I didn't quite make my 2lb weekly loss yesterday but did today so I'm having it.

I'm coming up to a 4 stone loss with another 3ish to go and feel like a normal person now (despite being Obese, this feels ok to me). I bought a size 12 t-shirt this week and considered that this may be my final size and can I really start shopping for the new me? I honestly have no experience of dressing at sizes smaller than that.

Anyway, onwards!

SW 245lbs
CW 192lbs
GW 148lb
22% of body weight lost 🥂

GoldieLocks09 · 18/02/2025 15:29

@MandarinDentistTiger you definitely will look different after a 3 stone loss - I think a lot of people are worried to say it to you, in case they offend, but to me it's not offensive in the slightest - so tell me, tell me! I've had a lot of people say it after I've been with them a while, or when they've cornered me on my own. The people I see regularly at work haven't said a thing.

I've bought a few new items of clothing, but have found that a lot of my stuff just generally fits better now. Although I MUST go shopping for new underwear, I never quite got out of the post-baby huge knickers, and they are pretty baggy now!
