@NeverJustInTime Im similar to you - 5ft2, 50 and started at 12.3 stone. I’m down to 9.5 ish, started 1 September. I started out doing the fast 800 diet alongside MJ so I ate less than 1200 cals. I found that was enough for me and I’ve exercised so not lost muscle. I’ve lost about 2lbs a week on average although it’s progressively less as time goes on. I looked at my tdee when I starred and it was around 1700. It’s now around 1450.

I'm the same @Orangesandlemons77 - struggled to go to 5mg but the move to 7.5mg and 10mg has been absolutely fine.

I've booked a call with Oushk on the 23rd Jan - had been thinking I'd be nearer maintenance but for the £5 think I'll keep it and just chat through where I'm at to see if she has any thoughts. I can't feel too sorry for myself because I'm 'only' 18lb or so above my punchy (well, punchy for me) goal weight and this has been by far the least painful weight loss journey of my life to date.

Can't quite picture that this might be some sort of new normal - a life without food angst. I opened a pack of mini marshmallows yesterday and had a couple of mouthfuls - noticed them in the cupboard this evening almost in passing, having forgotten all about them, and didn't fancy any more. Absolutely unheard of behaviour for me, pre MJ.

Orangesandlemons77 · 14/01/2025 21:00

I had a single dark chocolate with caramel this evening with my coffee and don't want anymore. For a while I wouldn't even have wanted anything like that but that seems to have worn off a bit, but still feeling it is much easier.

NeverJustInTime · 14/01/2025 21:06

@SpiderMother thank you for responding. This is really encouraging news. In my head I can’t imagine being 9.5 stone so to know it’s achievable is wonderful news. Tbh the 1200 is mainly protein as I’m terrified of losing muscle, which is what I’ve done all my life when dieting. I could definitely live on less calories as I end up forcing it down. Anyway I’m strength training now so hoping to alleviate any muscle depletion. Thanks again

Wednesday weigh in and as expected, I have sts for the third week in a row. Gah!!

MandarinDentistTiger · 15/01/2025 11:36

I feel absolutely terrible. I felt nauseous from about 9pm. I had terrible stomach cramps and wind in the night and have hardly slept.

I still feel clammy and ill. I wish I could take the day off work. Thank goodness, I am able to WFH and finish early.

Don't know if it's MJ or a big. I injected my third 7.5mg on Monday night. I always feel bloated for a few days. Nothing like this. I feel dreadful.

MandarinDentistTiger · 15/01/2025 11:37

@sylv165 how much do you have to lose? Are you close to goal weight.

It seems a bit like some of you are a bit anxious about moving up the doses?

I think possibly, but the need to avoid side effects is a priority for me as I'm out on the road and seeing clients face to face every day! I can't be doing with nausea or diarrhea!

It might not happen though, 10mg is fine here, 5mg I struggled with, maybe as you get used to it the higher doses are OK?

I totally understand staying lower though if it is working and it is less expensive too!

I'll perhaps be a little less cautious moving forwards, however I'm having good suppression on 5mg yesterday and today so I'll stick here and maybe go to 6.25 in a few weeks when I start my new pen. The '4s' had stopped working as well so I'll aim to be slightly more daring when pushing forwards without leaping forwards too much. I'm happy to keep the doses lower if I can!

MandarinDentistTiger · 15/01/2025 11:37

@sylv165 how much do you have to lose? Are you close to goal weight.

No, not really. I have another 19lbs or so to the top of a healthy BMI, and ideally I’d go a little bit lower. I should probably get better at taking measurements especially as I have increased my exercise a lot this month. Maybe my body is just focused on toning and building muscle instead of weight loss 🙏

MandarinDentistTiger · 15/01/2025 13:38

@sylv165 I am about halfway and a slow loser. I took advice from here and have taken photographs. I also have clothes that are a bit tight that I try on to track body shape changes.

Sometimes it helps to track the total weight loss and they you aren't putting weight on. My weight fluctuates up and down over the week. I've never had a big, weekly weight loss like other people here. I just plodding on.

I'll be interested to see how you progress. 19lbs would be close to goal weight for me.

sylv165 · 15/01/2025 14:05

Thanks @MandarinDentistTiger. I think I’m just disappointed because I feel like I have been really on it since new year eating well and exercising. I am also a slow and steady loser, I have lost 23lbs so far so also see myself as being about halfway there. I’ll get there, I am appreciating the benefits of MJ in stopping me from reaching for the crisps to deal with my frustration!

20bloodypounds · 15/01/2025 15:40

@sylv165 muscle is heavier than fat so if you are excercising after a break then you may be losing fat but developing muscle. Also the process of intense excercise slightly damages muscle tissue and the process of healing that damage requires the body to hold on to water. (apologies if you know this already and I'm stating the obvious).

In time, the increased weight muscle should improve your metabolism, and your downward trajectory will continue. Your shape and body composition will change. But it does sometimes take our extremely complex body systems time to adapt to changes. Keep on doing what you are doing, make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids.

This is why I’m enjoying me new fancy scales @sylv165. I suspected that I’ve been building some muscle, and have been super active since Christmas. Now I can see other measurements on the scale changing, even if the headline weight has stalled. I’m finding it helpful and suspect it will continue to help me during maintenance…

sylv165 · 15/01/2025 17:31

I have been wondering about fancy scales actually @EBoo80, it might be nice to easily quantify some of the changes that are not solely weight related

InfoSecInTheCity · 15/01/2025 17:34

I love my Apple Watch for NSVs too

I am also coveting a fancy Apple Watch @InfoSecInTheCity. But I’ll just have to wait in that one and put up with my basic Fitbit for a while longer!

EBoo80 · 15/01/2025 19:54

I bought Renpho scales for £17, that sync with my Fitbit. Had been going to buy the Fitbit branded one but it has awful reviews, and someone suggested this brand on here. Impressed so far!

Just in case anyone was wondering, if your leisure centre runs a class called "functional fitness" described as "a class taking you through practical movements to improve your functional fitness" it's a nice way of writing "Bootcamp". 45 minutes of kettlebell swings, lifting dumbells, lifting heavy bags, running laps, planks, rope thing, sit-ups, press ups and other things that mean I won't be able to lift my arms above my head for the rest of the week.

Ooh thanks for this … I’ve seen that at my gym and have thought about giving it a go ….. even less sure now!!🤣🤣🤣

Do you have to use the scales with the app or will it tell you the information on the screen? I would like to know my body fat % and check if it's decreasing.

sylv165 · 16/01/2025 08:12

The renpho scales are surprisingly cheap for something that seems to work quite effectively. I might order some. With any luck they’ll weigh me lighter so I’ll feel like I’m making progress 🤣

Yes my favourite thing about them is that they’ve made me 2lb lighter. 😆

So they flash up the weight on the screen, but for all the more detailed measures inc fat% (and to convert it to stones and pounds) I had to download the free app. So you wouldn’t get the good of most of the tech without the app. It also only monitors multiple people by having each person download the app iyswim, which is a drawback too.

Bumblebeehum · 16/01/2025 09:40

Do the Renopho scales give the same result every time? (If I step on and off 5 times in a row)
