Morning losers!
Thanks for sharing photos @InfoSecInTheCity thats the one thing I miss from not being on the FB group (I definitely don’t miss all the repetitive questions and discount code spam), I love to hear about success stories!

I’m a 3lb loser this week 🎺 which should lead me to my first target next week, can’t wait!

SW 245
CW 201

Dose 44 clicks of 5mg

NSV this week, bought a size 16 skirt (sequins in January) on Vinted and it fits!

It would be great to hear about your experience stopping Mj @Seldomseenkid

Well done to you on your 5lb loss@GoldieLocks09.

Nearly 4 stone loss is awesome @SpaceFairy8. I have lost a stone less than you over the same timescale and am up to a 7.5mg. I check in on the slow losers board and know I am lucky really. It is strange how differently MJ impacts individuals.

You are still ahead of me @MandarinDentistTiger - I've lost 24lb in 19 weeks. That's with really not eating very much at all a lot of the time. I'm short though (5 foot nothing) so it is always very slow, and mounjaro is at least allowing me to stick at it - would normally have given up due to hunger pangs a long time ago. I'm on 7.5 now.

sylv165 · 13/01/2025 14:20

Snap @FlatStanley50. When you are 5ft I think it is always going to be harder to lose weight quickly. Our calorie allowances are just so low! On the plus side, I do think that visually you see the difference quicker - 1stone on us is a bit more obvious than 1 stone on someone who is 6ft (mind you the same is true with weight gain so there are pros and cons to that one!!)

MandarinDentistTiger · 13/01/2025 14:57

1lb increase (as expected for this time of the week). Still feeling positive overall.

I took some pictures so I can track progress. I am hoping to lose the same again over the next 16 weeks.

lespameo · 13/01/2025 19:01

Week 17 for me now.
Starting weight 13st 7
Current weight 11st 4
So 2 stone 3lb loss so far. I'm back to the weight I was in 2019 which is the lowest I've ever been as an adult.
Target weight is 10st 7 which puts me at around bmi 23. I might continue to 10st so I've got some wiggle room but will see how I am nearer the time.
Currently using 45 clicks out of a 7.5mg pen which I think is 6mg?
Hoping I get to target by mid March then taper off. We'll see!

InfoSecInTheCity · 13/01/2025 19:50

Just in case anyone was wondering, if your leisure centre runs a class called "functional fitness" described as "a class taking you through practical movements to improve your functional fitness" it's a nice way of writing "Bootcamp". 45 minutes of kettlebell swings, lifting dumbells, lifting heavy bags, running laps, planks, rope thing, sit-ups, press ups and other things that mean I won't be able to lift my arms above my head for the rest of the week.

85reasons · 14/01/2025 07:21

Hello all. I feel like my weight loss has ground to a complete halt..! I'm not overeating, have good suppression on 10mg, have about 18 pounds to go to my goal (which is 11st at 5'7.5).

It's such a weird place to be, as I'm not really thinking much about "dieting" and am eating what I like (which is mostly healthy and good food, no processed stuff). But I cannot get motivated to exercise and am feeling really lethargic. Sleeping well - with vivid dreams most nights.. anyone else?) but just no get up and go. January blues or something else I don't know...

SpottyBumPony · 14/01/2025 08:22

@InfoSecInTheCity I always assume functional = crossfit 😖

Week 20,I've started to inject in to my thighs as I was getting an itchy reaction in my stomach and thought it might be due to the repeated injections, but no, I now have itchy thighs!

My mid-week weigh showed I'd lost 3 KG in 3 days, it was a nice number to see on the scales but I fully expected to have bounced back up again by today and I have. A loss for the week but a massive fluctuation!

30/08/2024 - 122.5kg
03/09/2024 - 120.9kg, first dose 2.5 of MJ
10/09/2024 - 118.3kg
17/09/2024 - 116.2kg
24/09/2024 - 112.4kg
01/10/2024 - 112.4kg
08/10/2024 - 111.0kg
15/10/2024 - 109.8kg
22/10/2024 - 108.5kg, eighth dose 3.75 of MJ
29/10/2024 - 105.9kg
05/11/2024 - 107.3kg
12/11/2024 - 105.9kg
19/11/2024 - 104.2kg
26/11/2024 - 104.3kg
03/12/2024 - 103kg
10/12/2014 - 102.6kg
17/12/2024 - 100.7kg, 16th dose 100KG Milestone
24/12/2024 - 99.7kg
31/12/2024 - 100.1kg
07/01/2024 - 99.3kg
14/01/2024 - 97.8kg

Loss - 23.2kg … a small bale of hay, and a chihuahua 🐶
Goal - to be in the healthy BMI range (70.3kg)

2lbs to go until I hit 4 stone!

sylv165 · 14/01/2025 09:00

I am the same @85reasons, I’m officially due to weigh in tomorrow but I keep track with daily weighing and it looks like I am going to have stayed the same for the third week. I am eating well, drinking lots of water and have really upped my exercise over the past 2 weeks to no avail ☹️. I probably should be better at measuring myself as maybe (hopefully!) I am losing inches. But I still have about 22lbs to my goal weight so seeing no progress on the scales is so frustrating!

NeverJustInTime · 14/01/2025 09:33

Hi, I’m a December starter but asking for advise from those that are further into their journey.
I’m just coming up to finishing my 4th week on 2.5. I’m having really slow losses 1lb a week however this week I have gained 1lb, so now it’s less than 1lb a week.
I have really high suppression each week. I am forcing myself to eat 120g protein every day and keeping fibre up even though I’m not hungry as I’m aware I want to lose this weight healthy and not become malnourished.
I am tracking every calorie, cook everything from scratch, haven’t had any alcohol, weight everything and am averaging 1200 cal a day.
I see on a number of threads people saying they are wanting to increase dose as have stopped losing but I didn’t think it really worked like that if you still have the suppression and are not over eating. I assume a higher dose just helps with the suppression again.
I have no reason to think a higher dose will help me further other than lead to under eating which isn’t my objective.
Does the medication just not work for some people?
I have about 2 1/2 stone to lose and am 35% body fat which is way too high and obviously in the obese category so it’s important to me that this helps me get into a healthy range. Anyone experience similar early on, or have any advise Id really appreciate it.
Thanks

@NeverJustInTime

Let's start with the basics because it just makes it easier to offer useful advice

What is your age, activity level, height and weight?
Have you calculated your TDEE?
How accurate are you being with calorie counting?
How much water/clear fluid are you drinking a day?

With regard dosing, moving up from 2.5mg is generally suggested as long as you aren't having lots of side effects, because 2.5mg is a loading dose not therapeutic. Lots of people, me included will then stick at 5mg as long as it continues to work.

Have you contacted your prescriber to ask advice?

SpottyBumPony · 14/01/2025 11:10

@NeverJustInTime that's a huge amount of protein. The WHO recommends 0.83g per KG of weight. 120g is sufficient for somebody who weighs 144.5KG.

Protein Deficiency: Should You Worry?

sylv165 · 14/01/2025 11:40

It is an interesting question @NeverJustInTime. I have stalled for 3 weeks now and have been wondering if there is value in moving up in strength. But like you my suppression is strong and I am trying to increase exercise so I don’t want to eat less and be unable to fuel that.

I think the main reason that MJ causes weight loss is the suppression but I do wonder if there is something more than that. When I have dieted in the past I have found it very difficult to lose weight even on a calorie deficit, but (at least at the start) with MJ I found that weight was falling off easily. So it definitely felt like there was something extra going on. I’m not technical enough to explain it, maybe something to do with insulin resistance, hormones, impact on metabolism - I don’t know. If there is something else at work then maybe moving up might be worth a try for us both, even for a week or two to see if it helps

EBoo80 · 14/01/2025 13:44

I’ve just treated myself to new fancy scales. Good news is they’ve knocked 5lb off my weight (which is obviously cheating) but the broader range of measures (including visceral fat etc) are really helpful. I was keen to check on muscle mass and visceral fat especially. Wish I had all these measurements from the start of my MJ journey, but good to have them now as I’m focusing less on losing weight and more on reducing fat and rebuilding muscle.

I am in a similar position! I have put on 1.5lb this week and I don’t know why. I don’t feel like I’ve eaten more. And I didn’t exercise over Xmas and new year, but I’ve started again this week.

I’m a bit down about it all as I haven’t lost much now over this pen, and I was planning on stopping once this pen had run out. I only have one dose left (the bonus dose).

Edited

Thank you @SpottyBumPony I’m currently with a strength trainer, trying to build muscle and reduce body fat this level of protein upwards is recommended. If you don’t have enough protein, you can train but you’ll struggle to have the building blocks to gain muscle.

@InfoSecInTheCity thanks for reply. I’m 5ft 5 12 st 10 inactive job but started strength training 3 x a week, 8k steps 3 x 30 min cardio. I’m 51. Get around 2 ltrs of water a day, plus juice. Batch cook on Sundays, have all my meal plans in my fitness pal for the whole week ahead, before I’ve eaten them so I dont go off plan. Everything is weighed before and after cooked, I include even herbs, spices, garlic etc in the calorie count. I’ll reach out to provider. Thought I’d just drop a line on here first. I am a very slow loser, just really didn’t expect an increase. Wondered if it doesn’t work for everyone as don’t want to waste money. I can put weight on by myself without the extra cost 😆

@sylv165 thank you. I wondered exactly the same. I did a great deal of research on the jab before committing. Mounjaro works in two ways, slows digestion and acts as a appetite suppressive, both have definitely happened to me, so in my head I don’t understand what benefit I’d get from increasing dose if 2.5 is still working on both fronts. I don’t see a reason to stall on the weight loss, let alone gain when I know I’ve been txt book student 🧑‍🎓. Think I’ll. ask the question to the provider, see what they have to say. Just disappointing, I’m so committed and ready for this 💪

InfoSecInTheCity · 14/01/2025 17:54

Well based on your stats your maintenance is 1700 calories, so 1200 puts you in deficit and should lead to a loss.

The only thing I could potentially blame it on would be the increase in exercise. When you work your muscles to the point where they are sore, you cause muscle tears (it's supposed to happen) and your body uses water in the process of repairing those so that can cause water retention.

I'd say just keep going, give it a few more weeks and then re-assess after the next 4 weeks block, move up to 5mg if you've not had any contra-indicative side effects, and be vigilant about drinking plenty of water.

MandarinDentistTiger · 14/01/2025 18:16

@NeverJustInTime I think 1llb weight loss is ok. I have consistently lost 1lb or 2lb a week and would consider myself to be a slow user. It can be disheartening to see others losing 5lb or more. This is about you. I focus on long term milestones and goals.

StanleyCup · 14/01/2025 19:38

simb · 08/01/2025 17:55

It is really strange that a lot of us who started at around the same time are finding this regardless of the dose we're on 🤔

I upped my dose from 50 clicks to 55 clicks of a 5mg pen and I wish I'd done the full 5mg!

Im feeling the same thing, ive slowly titrated up to 5mg and feeling the suppression wear off by midweek, first couple of weeks i was really nauseous and horrible diarrhoea but thankfully that has worn off. I put on a hideous amount of weight last week and packing the food away. Gained 6lbs in week. I know some of it was water weight and i was on my period but i was ravenous. This week feels better and im really trying to stay on track. I have a 7mg pen i don’t know if i need to go upto 6mg maybe or just stick at it.

So hard to know what to do to balance out progress with not wanting side effects! I went up to 5mg for the first time yesterday and have, for the first time in ages, felt proper suppression today, but I'm imagining that will wear off as the week goes on. We'll see!

Orangesandlemons77 · 14/01/2025 20:51

It seems a bit like some of you are a bit anxious about moving up the doses?

Orangesandlemons77 · 14/01/2025 20:53

I did half doses so instead of 10mg 5mg every 5 days (as it was wearing off) then 5mg twice a week, I then went on to 10mg once a week which is fine. I have not had many side effects the most I got was from 2.5 to 5mg.
