Mounjaro DECEMBER Starters Support Thread 1

1000 replies

OnTheMJ · 29/11/2024 10:49

I've seen many suggestions to start a December started thread. As it's almost December, I decided to kick it off. This is a support thread for anyone who's just started or about to start their Mounjaro journey. It's always nice to chat with others at the same stage and encourage each other. I'm not very chatty myself due to disability but feel free to have a party here everyone!

What's everyone doing? Have you started? Mine is arriving today. I'll be starting on 1st december as I want my injection day to be sunday and have about 8 stones to lose. BMI is 41. I went with Boots first because of name but I'll likely be switching to a cheaper provider for my next order.

Loving hearing everyone's losses so far!

I was finally prescribed it today by MedExpress 🙌 My photos were rejected twice so ended up sending them a pic in my bra and pants instead and a bonus side profile of me pointing to my stomach in case they missed it.

Ridiculous that I had to go to such lengths to prove I'm fat but at least it worked. Feel a bit sorry for the man on the other end of the email 😬😅

JunoRoma · 06/12/2024 18:51

@CatRash "and a bonus side profile of me pointing to my stomach in case they missed it." this cheered me up at the end of a very tiring week!

I was able to fasten my bra on the tighter hooks this morning, I'm counting this as a non-scale victory rather than considering that my bra might have stretched.

@CatRash " I was finally prescribed it today by MedExpress 🙌 My photos were rejected twice so ended up sending them a pic in my bra and pants instead and a bonus side profile of me pointing to my stomach in case they missed it."

That made me laugh 😆 I took a photo in tight vest and leggings and then deleted it in case it quickly replicated to the cloud storage and ended up in some shared family photo group...

Well I have just injected and it was not as scary as I thought 😄it felt like a warmness spreading over my tum at first, but then fine.

Will weigh in the morning at pop my stats here!

CrystalDeCanter · 07/12/2024 07:38

Hi all, congratulations on the losses and hello to the newies.

I've had my second jab and feel a bit hungrier than last week. I find I struggle with knowing exactly what and how much to eat.

I have had more energy but seem to have crashed today.

Happy weekend everyone

Hi guys, I injected last night and was expecting the “food noise” to have disappeared this morning - but am still running through all the food decisions in my head. It is exhausting! Did anyone else find the food noise took a little while to disappear?
looking forward to sharing this journey with you all.

NonVedoIlMare · 07/12/2024 09:13

So I have ordered and it will arrive on Monday though I am not going to try taking it until Thursday night as I have a crazy busy week and I am worried there could be side effects.

Now I am going to start thinking about diet and how to monitor what I am eating. Does anyone have recommendations for a simple diet diary as opposed to a calorie tracker? I want to be able to review what I have eaten over a week and to adjust up or down to maintain a steady weight loss of around one pound but I don't want to start obsessing about calories.

For example this morning I had a sachet of porridge oats with semi skimmed milk for breakfast. I just want to write small bowl porridge rather than measuring out the milk and checking the packet.

Morning all 😊 hope everyone is ok and doing well! I'm on day 3 now, actually thinking it may be making some sort of difference. I feel a tiny bit hungry but not starving and thinking I might just wait until lunch to eat. DH mentioned getting his breakfast earlier and I was like "oh, I haven't had breakfast, I've already brushed my teeth. Oh well!"

Has anyone else noticed a difference in how food tastes? Not only does my protein powder taste so sickly sweet, I had some beans with my lunch yesterday that tasted soapy. I thought as they had been in a container in the fridge that maybe the container hadn't been rinsed properly and shrugged it off. Then had chicken fajitas for tea and again they tasted soapy! DH said he didn't notice a soapy taste at all 😶

I first injected on Thursday and I still have food noise, which is disheartening! Cravings have definitely subsided however I feel like I'm still thinking about food / eating / what to eat constantly

GW not sure, probably 11st ish but will have to see how it goes. Injected first thing this morning into stomach. Not noticing any changes yet, but often don’t eat until lunchtime anyway.

Excited to have started though. Good luck MJers.

shrinkingthiswinter · 07/12/2024 13:23

Hi, can I join too? I'm waiting for prescription. I'm not in the UK, but there's a similar online service where I am.

SW 104 kg
CW 104
GW 85 (and then perhaps a stretch target of 75, which would be a normal BMI)

I'm 172 cm tall.

Quite worried about diabetes. In the process of getting a prescription I had a fasting blood test, which came out rather high (7.2 on whatever scale they use). But I'd taken my morning tablets instead of fasting properly, so they sent me for another blood test yesterday and that came out really high (9.6). So I am quite freaked out. On the other hand, I had flu and covid vaccines the day before the test, and apparently vaccines can cause a spike. My longer term blood sugar results were only a little raised.

So anyway I need to see GP and get a proper diabetes investigation. But in the meantime it'll be a good thing to get started with MJ.

shrinkingthiswinter · 07/12/2024 13:25

Also, thank you everyone for the information and experiences you've shared. I found this thread (and others on mn) really helpful for deciding which drug to try.

Goinghome20 · 07/12/2024 14:26

Excited to join the MJ party. Been steadily putting on weight and now in obese catagory. HRT has made my boobs enormous and uncomfortable. I am really active and in the past Low carbing haa worked for me but it is difficult to maintain while cooking for my family who are all men.

Took my first 2.5mg yesterday and have little appetite today. Ive only had hald a protein shake and half a banana and im full!

Ive told nobody that I am doing this as I dont want to be talked out of it or shamed for spending my money on it!

Went with Asda as I can pick it up with the shopping and hide it in my wardrobe.

Goinghome20 · 07/12/2024 14:28

lovelyjably · 07/12/2024 15:15

MJ injection arrived late Thursday evening. But I haven't been able to bring myself to take the plunge yet.
Thinking Monday now. I didn't think I would be this nervous tbh especially since I'm in the medical research field. But I think I know what's putting me off! I had horrible Hyperemesis gravidarum (severe nausea and morning sickness) in my pregnancies and I'm anxious about similar side effects on MJ.

I am determined I will get over this fear. I have to!

NonVedoIlMare · 07/12/2024 15:25

Sw: 84 kg
Cw: 84 kg
Gw: 65 kg

Not arriving until Monday and I probably won't take it until Thursday . In the meanwhile I have started another push on healthy eating. Hopefully the MJ will then help me to reduce the portions of the healthy food so that I can lose weight.

EggyBurpsNotEggyBread · 07/12/2024 17:42

Oh goodness, I feel so sick! Anyone else? Not able to eat anything today beyond half a yoghurt. Not like me at all 😂
