Mounjaro DECEMBER Starters Support Thread 1

1000 replies

OnTheMJ · 29/11/2024 10:49

I've seen many suggestions to start a December started thread. As it's almost December, I decided to kick it off. This is a support thread for anyone who's just started or about to start their Mounjaro journey. It's always nice to chat with others at the same stage and encourage each other. I'm not very chatty myself due to disability but feel free to have a party here everyone!

What's everyone doing? Have you started? Mine is arriving today. I'll be starting on 1st december as I want my injection day to be sunday and have about 8 stones to lose. BMI is 41. I went with Boots first because of name but I'll likely be switching to a cheaper provider for my next order.

@DiggityDawg that's my problem, I always think I've been so virtuous that if I don't get a decent loss I feel really discouraged. I need to get into a better mindset.

dubmimi · 05/12/2024 14:00

Week 1 complete, weighed in this morning & -4lbs so I'm really happy with that.

Bananaram · 05/12/2024 14:48

No further symptoms except I feel like I need to pee most of the time 😳 I haven't read about it being a side effect, I haven't been drinking anymore water than I usually would

BookishBabe · 05/12/2024 15:54

4th day calorie controlling, I'm really proud of myself.
Still no difference since the jab, no bad side effects, but also no appetite suppression at all. I'm feeling quite hungry and it's a bit rubbish, I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not supposed to have much change of anything on the 2.5mg dose as its just to get my body used to it.

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 05/12/2024 16:03

Today is going to be my first day. The pen has just arrived.

I'm a bit nervous but excited

I'm on Levothyroxine

Despite healthy eating I've had periods of constant weight gain. Nis my dose is sorted it's staying the same but at least not getting worse.

I want to lose 3 stone

OnTheMJ · 05/12/2024 18:10

Well done everyone on all your losses 📉 ❤️. I'm still waiting for saturday or Sunday (jab day) to weigh myself but I'm feeling hopeful with the good supression, less calories and focusing on eating well.

Side effects are still shivering cold though and a bit of headache but no more d&v or nausea, so that's good news!

Hi all just joining🙂 took my first does this afternoon around 4pm. About 3 stone to lose , 20 months post-partum. Don't feel any different yet..... however it's only been 4 hours! curious as to how long it took for people feel a suppression x

PresidentBarklett · 05/12/2024 19:41

After my 11lb drop last week, I've stalled this week (week 2).

Still not too bothered about eating, which kind of just feels like something I need to do in order to get on with my day. Calories coming in at around 1400 per day.

Scales staying the same which I guess is my body wondering what the hell is happening! Not disheartened, however. Its a journey and I feel bloody great. My skin is incredibly soft and clear, I'm sleeping like the dead every night and I feel incredibly energetic and calm at the sane time. All massive wins.

ChloeCannotCanCan · 05/12/2024 20:22

My suppression happened within a few hours - hopefully yours will kick in soon

What a huge first loss too! Even averaged across 2 weeks that's amazing. Plus all the other benefits that you're feeling.

I took my first dose at night, had no hunger pangs at all the next say or since (W1D5). Food has become fuel. Last ate around 9 hours ago and don't feel hungry yet, but have some grapes if I feel peckish. Mainly aiming for 3 meals (of varying size) a day to avoid blood sugar drop etc.

ohmyohmy123 · 05/12/2024 23:00

My desire for wine has massively reduced - I was having a glass most days.

I lost 5.5lb wk 1. Now W2 D2 and hoping it continues.

Fatgirlthin2024 · 06/12/2024 08:28

So first weeks weigh in this morning and have lost 6lbs, really happy with that, I can't remember the last time I lost 6lb in a week. Have done my 2nd jab this morning so we'll see this week brings. We can all do this 🥰

DiggityDawg · 06/12/2024 08:33

Side effects wise, I had nausea and a headache the first day but they went by the next day and haven’t come back. I am a little constipated so trying to increase my fibre to help with that.

@Bananaram I’m definitely peeing more. I’m drinking more on average but not so much more to account for all the peeing!

DiggityDawg · 06/12/2024 08:33

Congrats to those who have done their first weeks and seeing a loss 👏

LupiLoops · 06/12/2024 08:45

Morning all! New to MJ too, started on the 2.5mg dose 3 days ago. I have noticed a reduced appetite but still feeling strangely hungry in the evenings, early days yet though!
When I have eaten I feel pretty ‘bloated’ - is that normal? The feeling eventually settles after a couple of hours.
I haven’t told anyone I’m on it as I don’t think I can handle the judgement at the moment.
I’m 101kgs and only 5’1” tall so my BMI is over 40. I haven’t noticed any weight loss yet!!
I’m enjoying reading your banter and looking forward to seeing results soon!!

Glad I'm not the only one, the feeling seems to have disappeared today thankfully 😁

I've maybe felt a little less hungry but could just be imagining it, definitely felt hungry yesterday though so trying to keep my spirits up. I know the 2.5 dose is meant to get the body used to the medication but it's a little disheartening to see other people have the affects straight away.

I will say though, this morning I had my usual greek yogurt with chocolate protein powder and I couldn't finish it because it was so sickly sweet! It was like a sweet cloying taste on the back of my tongue I couldn't get rid of 🤢 I normally have granola with it and it's never tasted like that before. Not sure if that's what it always tastes like without granola but it was rank

TrinityWaves · 06/12/2024 10:48

I'm W2D3 now, yesterday I had the work Christmas thingy. I tracked all calories at the buffet and only hit 1400 (total for the day) but I felt like I'd eaten a horse, it's just amazing how full this makes me feel!

Slimwannabe · 06/12/2024 10:52

Congrats @ohmyohmy123 and @Fatgirlthin2024!

Given that often full effects don't kick in until 5mg or 7.5mg it'll be so interesting to see where we are by Feb! I'm trying not to worry too much if there's not much change with my weight in this first month.

The husband said I was already looking smaller yesterday - a blantant lie, but gave me a boost!

I've decided I'll take my bonus dose of 2.5 as well, so see me through Christmas and New Year, and risk the side effects on 5mg in Jan.

Wow! Well done! As challenges go a buffet is a tough one!

EggyBurpsNotEggyBread · 06/12/2024 11:29

Received the package today! Excited to begin. i will take the injection tonight and do my weigh in tomorrow morning.

Great to hear all of the losses! So encouraging

Julesni77 · 06/12/2024 11:43

Took my first one today - have not weighed as I cannot have scales in the house - might take a scoot into GP surgery as they have weighing machines and just do it there once a week

Nervous but excited! And hoping I can keep up my existing exercise and strength training

frogpigdonkey · 06/12/2024 15:20

I'd like to join. Took my first dose today. I'm 95kg and just over 5ft tall so a BMI of around 40. No side effects yet after a dose 4 hrs ago but not feeling much hunger! Got lots of healthy food in and planning to calorie count loosely but focus on protein and veg (which has worked for me in the past- if only I could stick to it!).. hoping to stick to healthier choices and not binge over Christmas!

Zobow48 · 06/12/2024 17:33

Thank you for starting this post I’m new to this website & will be starting mounjaro on Wednesday I’m so excited my friend has had amazing results I didn’t get it online like she did as I was a little nervous so paying more with my local pharmacy would love to hear other people’s experiences especially with any side effects? I do suffer with my mental health but only see losing weight helping me with that I’m almost 15stone & it says for my height & build I should be around 9 & half stone well realistically I don’t think I’ll do that but 11 stone is my goal 😁 love to hear other peoples thoughts and goals they have xx
