I've seen many suggestions to start a December started thread. As it's almost December, I decided to kick it off. This is a support thread for anyone who's just started or about to start their Mounjaro journey. It's always nice to chat with others at the same stage and encourage each other. I'm not very chatty myself due to disability but feel free to have a party here everyone!

What's everyone doing? Have you started? Mine is arriving today. I'll be starting on 1st december as I want my injection day to be sunday and have about 8 stones to lose. BMI is 41. I went with Boots first because of name but I'll likely be switching to a cheaper provider for my next order.

After my smug earlier post, I've had my 5th dose at 2.5 and was intending on keeping going at that level but I'm day 4 and hungry, for the first time I really want some chocolate. Am currently on a boat for a couple of nights so no chocs on board. Not sure if this I a good or bad thing 😬😩

landobroken · 30/12/2024 10:52

Has anyone had this with Medexpress?

My GP surgery are a nightmare to get hold of/deal with and I wonder will I be able to get a copy of my medical records just like that?

Weird how they prescribed me already but now this is an issue - I'm worried I won't get my second pen in time now...

I don't have any medical issues that would block this AFAIK and I meet the BMI requirements

@landobroken
I've seen one or two posters share the same letter on different threads. The suggestion I saw there was to use nhs app or your surgery's online acc and screenshot your summary care records or diagnosis section of your acct and send to medexpress. Failing that, you could use a different provider that's equally affordable.

You can use the www.monj.co.uk website to find registered providers.

I am absolutely starving today...struggling to not scoff my face so I've come back to bed!

I'm on week 5 day 5 but I took it a day late last week. Tempted to start my next pen early...maybe the bonus dose hasn't worked or I needed to move up maybe.

OnTheMJ · 30/12/2024 14:42

I find that the effect wanes from day 4 or 5 too so maybe it shows it's time to move up on your next jab day. @ohmyohmy123 Do you have any low calorie snack you can have? Protein shakes?Even just a boiled egg or 2 maybe? It will hopefully keep you full enough as I realise that I still can't eat much in one go even if I get hungry.

Or you can jab on day 6 if the suppression has gone really low.

OP posts:
Reetpetitenot · 30/12/2024 15:49

Did my 3rd jab on Saturday. Haven't lost a gram, no suppression at all. So disappointed. Will up to 5mg next month and keep my fingers crossed.

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 30/12/2024 19:51

I'm really unsure what jab strength to get next. I'm with MedExpress currently and I keep seeing people having issues, so I want to get it ordered sooner rather than later, but due to gallstones I was hoping to stay on the 2.5mg, I took my 3rd jab yesterday and have excellent suppression again today. So do I go for the 2.5 again and hope it continues or just go for the 5mg. I suppose the absolute worst is if I get the 2.5mg and find it's not working as well, I could inject it twice weekly (athough would then need to get the 5mg sooner).

Its stressing me not making a decision.

Also, when I reorder from MedExpress do I have to do the whole thing from scratch again. It looks like I do?

Just wondering my best steps now.

OnTheMJ · 30/12/2024 20:06

@MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals I'd order 5mg then count clicks to do 2.5mg. The 5mg and 2.5mg pens are typically the same price or not much difference so you may as well buy the dose up, that way if you find that you need to go up with that pen, you already have the 5mg dose to use.

OP posts:
ohmyohmy123 · 30/12/2024 20:09

Thanks @OnTheMJ I had a nap and then ate a sweet potato with loads of protein and felt better.

@MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals I was unsure too but ordered the 5mg pen - if in doubt you can halve the dose too or order a 2.5 nearer the time and save the 5 pen.

I'm sure if you show your prescription information to any of the companies they will prescribe the next dose.

I'd also be interested to know how the re-ordering process works please!

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 30/12/2024 21:18

@OnTheMJ i thought about ordering the 5 but microdosing, but the pen only last 5 weeks doesn't it (mind you, still be cheaper than buying a 2.5 and double dosing that!).

morbidcuriosity · 30/12/2024 21:38

@MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals hey. I would order the 5, then you can take 2.5 from it and then 5 if you feel you need to move up

And when ordering the 2nd pen from same people you do t need to do it all again, most of the questionnaire is filled out for you, you just need to put in your new weight then order.. won't need to do pics etc again..

Yes the guidance is to discard after 30 days so if you're microdosing, you'll have to consider if it ends up cheaper having to throw away the rest that you don't use after the 30days or buy 2.5mg and hope to not double dose iyswim. It can be quite a gamble these things, I think. x

Reordering is much less faf then 1st order. Medexpress usually send you an email reminder. There are 2 options there: either reordering the same dose or stepping up. No need for pictures. You simply have to enter your current weight and confirm the medical info is up to date. As previous posters mentioned, you are better off ordering 5mg because it is exactly the same price and inject half a dose if 2.5mg still works for you. It gives you option to up the dose at later stage if you feel at any point that 2.5 isn't enough. I am in this very situation right now, on 4th dose of 5mg pen and I seem to struggle much more than before. Literally before Christmas 5mg worked amazingly well and all the sudden I have to use a lot more willpower right now, surrounded by all the yummy Christmas food and "may have" sneeked in a few more treats than I should. I haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks but luckily haven't gained any either 😅. I regret not upping the pen to 7.5mg sooner. I just cannot wait for a bonus dose which usually has a bit more. 7.5mg is already on its way too!

saj90 · 30/12/2024 23:29

@Lola3034 is there anyway of getting a discount code for 5mg? Because that's my only temptation to shop around. The £40 off the first order was a big boost. And the support from med express has been really disappointing.

Lola3034 · 30/12/2024 23:37

I never needed any support to be fair so cannot recommend anyone in particular. I learned a lot by reading about people's experiences here. You can use your discount code from MedExpress post it on the thread for discount codes and there is always a chance someone will use it. It happened to me recently and I also had a friend use mine. They used to do a really good price match deal but that seems to have ended 😕. The only other option is to hop around the suppliers and use the introductory offers they have. Switching isn't difficult and doesn't take too long either.

ThisAmpleFawn · 31/12/2024 08:18

Ok, finally beginning to feel hopeful. Started MJ on the 14th, had the most horrible diarrhoea for the first week and the doc told me not to take the 2nd injection till it had cleared properly, so didn't take the next one until the 26th. I have had another case of diarrhoea, but not nearly so bad, so am aiming to take my next injection as scheduled. As such here are my figures:
SW 89
CW 85
TW 71
Woohoo, very happy. I'm primarily doing MJ to help my arthritis, and for the first time in ages, I can now bend my fingers first thing in the morning. Sounds silly, but am over the moon...
For those experiencing diarrhoea, pre dosing on Buscopan and taking Imodium or equivalent when really bad seems to have kept it manageable.
Keep going everyone and thanks for all your posting, it's kept me motivated. Honestly after the first week of not being able to leave the house I was going to quit for good...

TrinityWaves · 31/12/2024 08:46

Hi gang!
I'm W5D7 but weighed this morning given that it's NYD tomorrow. Also ready to start my 5 pen either later today or tomorrow.
End of week 5 I've lost 3.8 lb this week, taking the total to a nice rounded 20 lb

Oh gosh @ThisAmpleFawn I need to get to work.

I'm going to start on a Friday. How long after your jab did you get the diarrhea? I'm hoping I could dose up by the Monday maybe...

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden so first time I took the dose on Saturday and the diarrhoea started Tuesday evening. This time it started within 24 hours... Not everyone seems to have it though.
I listened to an interesting programme on radio 4 where they were saying that the reactions tend to be what you have a tendency towards. So for instance, I have typically had diarrhoea and cramps when I have a stomach upset, rather than being sick... So that's what happened. If you have a certain tendancy try and think of what the trigger is.
On the Tuesday someone treated me to a Costa Coffee, now I love these coffees, but have been known to have the squits after them... Unfortunately I hadn't listened to the programme and was feeling quite smug that I had had no side effects, so had the latte... Big mistake... Honestly 5 days of horror. This time I have avoided coffee and dairy, taken Buscopan and really it's not been too bad at all. Will try and find the link to the podcast, it was an interesting listen.

Hi all
really inspired by your losses! I ordered from online pharmacy last week hoping to start before New Year and get over any poss side effects before going back to work next Monday but they’ve still not dispatched 😖. Can Injoin your thread even though by the time it arrives I’ll be a Jan starter?!

curlyk456 · 31/12/2024 10:09

Anyone's hunger suppression gone away on day 4? I'm still mindful of what I'm eating and can't eat as much as I used to. But I'm definitely thinking about food more and having to work at it
