Mounjaro DECEMBER Starters Support Thread 1

1000 replies

OnTheMJ · 29/11/2024 10:49

I've seen many suggestions to start a December started thread. As it's almost December, I decided to kick it off. This is a support thread for anyone who's just started or about to start their Mounjaro journey. It's always nice to chat with others at the same stage and encourage each other. I'm not very chatty myself due to disability but feel free to have a party here everyone!

What's everyone doing? Have you started? Mine is arriving today. I'll be starting on 1st december as I want my injection day to be sunday and have about 8 stones to lose. BMI is 41. I went with Boots first because of name but I'll likely be switching to a cheaper provider for my next order.

Hello. Ive just injected my first dose. I need to lose about 25kg (currently 90kg). One of my friends is on mounjaro and her results inspired me to bite the bullet and order it.

lovelyjably · 10/12/2024 16:29

Hi all, thought I'd give an update. I finally injected my first dose last night. Surprised how easy it was to injected and didn't feel it at all.
The only thing to report is the vivid dreams but i don't think I feel any different. To be honest I haven't eaten a proper meal today yet but I'm not sure if that is due to the suppression or not. I usually don't feel hunger until late afternoon and that's when the food noise kicks in so I shall wait and see if it has made a difference later on.
Hope the vivid dream are just temporary, anyone experienced them initially and then subsided?

shrinkingthiswinter · 10/12/2024 16:30

Hi @saj90 and @OrangeDonald! I hope to take my first dose today too, presuming my needles arrive. They're supposed to be here soon. Yesterday the pharmacy delivered the pen but not the sharps, which I'm trying not to be grumpy about. Hope to be able to share notes!

Mine was supposed to arrive last Thursday!
So I'm currently around 14.7 stone. And would like to lose at least 3 stone.
I'm already going to the gym, and cook from scratch. It tends to be the weekends that trip me up. Hoping this helps.

Well done on your first injection! I’m on week 6 and still getting really vivid dreams but tbh some of them are great so I don’t mind! I previously would regularly get PTSD dreams of issues I haven’t let go of, and wake up having a panic attack, so I’ll take the mounjaro dreams any day at the moment. Hope they calm down for you though and good luck with your weight loss.

saj90 · 10/12/2024 18:19

Sorry if this has been asked. But for those that have started already, is it better to take before or after food?
Planning a veggie pasta salad for dinner tonight and unsure when to take my first injection.

shrinkingthiswinter · 10/12/2024 18:36

@saj90 my instructions say it doesn’t matter. But I’m letting my dinner go down before doing mine. Sharps finally arrived during it. Will walk the dog and then do it.

@ohmyohmy123 I'm thinking of ordering next week after my 3rd jab. Hoping to get in there before Christmas.

@MJDecember24 Sorry to hear about the piles. With the constipation, I've seen people mentioned Psyllum Husk. I don't know about it but they say it's great for it.

@rossogingerale So sorry about your health, cancer. I hope taking Mounjaro will help with the t2d, blood sugars, etc. I don't personally have the experience taking it with breast cancer but hope you find the information you need. ❤️

@MaybeMrs Take a look at this website, they have a list of registered providers for Mounjaro and everyone here seems to use them to choose theirs. I'll be going with one of the providers on here for my next order. I used Boots at first.

@saj90 Hello Saj! It's fine to be nervous, I'm sure most of us were before we took the first jab. Cheering you on for tonight! Personally, I don't think it matters whether before or after food as long as it's not a heavy meal. I've only taken once I get up in the morning though so can't help with another time.

Congrats all new jabbers! Hope you have a great first week.💛

I’ve done it! Couldn’t feel anything, which was disconcerting, but I suppose it worked.

What an astounding drug it is if just 2.5mg injected into a tummy roll can have so much effect.

Anyway, glad to join you all properly on this journey now.

OnTheMJ · 10/12/2024 19:32

Well done! @shrinkingthiswinter Welcome to MJ. 😁

I've just done it. First needle didn't work so had to use a second. Still nervous but excited for the journey ahead. Thanks for everyone's support. I'll update how I get on!

Thank you 🤩 and others who have offered advice. I have ordered with another company and I am waiting for it to be processed. I think I’d like to lose about 4 stone but I’d be
happy with a few dress sizes to start! X

Good morning. Woke up with a cracking headache, but had a coffee and did my morning indoor walk and it seems to be lifting now, but that's the only side effect so far.

Yesterday morning I weighed 14.11 and took my first injection about 10.30, this morning I'm 14.9, I'm hoping this is real and it won't be back on tomorrow.

ohmyohmy123 · 11/12/2024 07:54

Don't be disheartened if the scales fluctuate, I'm weighing daily too and it's gone up and down. Try to get into a healthy habit with food, drink lots of water.

Week 2 weigh in for me and I've lost 10.5lb so far - and oh my I feel so much better already. Less bloated, more energy, joints hurt less.

Morning.
I am so tired this morning. And the nausea is really bad. All the food prep I did yesterday I can't even look at. Considering taking a half day to come home and nap Confused

saj90 · 11/12/2024 07:59

Also, I am incredibly thirsty!! Has anyone else had that?

Great result, @ohohmyohmy123 👏
I also weigh daily....it helps me focus

The end of week 2 is not as dramatic as week 1 - 1.8lbs lost.

Night out, even though I made good choices, had an impact. Hunger, food noise, and cravings came back with the vengence, and I had to dig deep to stay on track

I am feeling I am going to need to move to 5mg week 5.

SW 16 2.8
CW 15 8.0
Total loss 8.8lbs

50somethingHRTaddict · 11/12/2024 08:16

@saj90 I am sorry you are having a bad time. Hopefully yor system settles today
I was very thirsty initially too.

Drinking fruit tea, water, diluted juice etc Will hopefully help you feel better
Take care

ohmyohmy123 · 11/12/2024 08:17

@50somethingHRTaddict - Some days I'm 2lb up but it evens out over the weeks - I'm so motivated. If I can be in the 16's by Xmas I'll be ecstatic.

I've had a horrendous cold and not been able to taste which has stopped me over eating.

Not even craving a mince pie and baileys yet Grin

littlebirdieblu · 11/12/2024 08:33

@saj90 sorry you are having a tough start, hopefully you will start to feel better in the next day or so.

Thanks everyone. One massive positive, I don't even want to vape. And I'm quite badly addicted.

Wow, that is a great side effect!

I was thinking yesterday how even though it is expensive, how much we actually are saving on food and snacks. I reckon atm I am spending about £10 a week on food for me, saving £15 just in that. If I was going to SW I would be paying a fiver, plus all of the food.

Just helps me get my head around spending £150 approx a month on myself 😃probably only works out at about £20 a week.

TrinityWaves · 11/12/2024 11:10

End of my second week, injected (W3D1) this morning and I've lost 5 lb this week - total 13.4 lb 🥳

SW 263.4 lb
W1 255
CW 250

GW 168
