A positive discovery since I have been so bloody cold...clear whey bitter lemon, made with hot water is lovely. I havent tried any of the other flavours hot yet😋

SilverSprings510 · 15/12/2024 19:57

Hi all, super busy in the run up to Xmas! I’ve decided to jab today a couple of days early as didn’t want my jab to fall on Xmas Eve, especially as it’ll be my first dose of 10! May change my weigh day to tomorrow too.

lookathatbookcase · 15/12/2024 20:17

@MabelSpan oh wow, I hadn't thought of doing that with the clear whey; also excited about trying it with Vimto flavour.

Heading back from cold weather country this weekend. Eating etc hasn't been brilliant since I've been away, also very very tired from work / cold / dark / travel. Looking forward to getting home into a routine again. sts on weight, but also let's see what my old non-fancy scales say when I get home.

NippyCrab · 15/12/2024 20:31

@lookathatbookcase the Vimto is really nice cold and I'll have to try it hot now @MabelSpan
Could you get an eco grant for new heating? You'll get ill being that cold 🥶 🤧 I'm the same with the flatness so I'm moving down now. I got the stollen bites from Lidl aww they are just lovely mmmm.
With Christmas food I'm reluctant to buy a lot because it will go to waste. I will buy some bits but only if DH is eating them too. He's not keen on mince pies and I love them, warm with thick cream or custard. There's only certain things that are floating my boat for eating, salmon, eggs, chicken and certain fruit. I've got cranberry juice I've taken a notion for, it's weird. Cranberries dried, the cranberry sauce with chicken and ryvita haha. It will be a weird Christmas snack house for me this year!
I saw in morrisons they had this tray of dates dipped in different chocolate, £8!!! Bloody Nora. I love dates but I'll buy them and dip them myself thanks haha.

That's a good idea @SilverSprings510 good luck on the weigh in.

I find the typical Christmas food easy to resist as I don't like most of it. I've been vegetarian for over 35 years so turkey doesn't feature for me. I can't stand Christmas cake, mince pies, Christmas pudding - basically anything with dried fruit in 🤢. I don't drink alcohol, don't like trifle........ I'm such a bloody hoot at parties 😁.

My own Christmas must haves are lebkuchen hearts (don't like icing so I buy the chocolate covered ones) and pannetone (chocolate of course). Last week I saw a thing called cinnamon bunnetone in Waitrose - a mixture of cinnamon buns and pannetone. Two of my favourite things so I think that will be my go to if I fancy something sweet.

morbidcuriosity · 15/12/2024 21:25

ooo @poppym12 i love them lebkuchen hearts, the dark chocolate ones..
Thats going to be my go to treat this christmas.. Lidl has them and the not bad priced.

CrazyGoatLady · 15/12/2024 21:27

@poppym12 I love Lebkuchen, anything gingerbread-like. I also don't go in for a lot of the things that are popular in the UK as I was brought up on Polish and Eastern European Christmas traditions. We have Makowiecz, which is like a sweet poppy seed roll or strudel, a layered gingerbread cake, marzipan cakes, and sweet pierogis. We do have Keks, which is like fruit cake made with rum, but it's much lighter than Christmas cake, and maybe more towards panettone. My Polish grandma made a mean Black Forest roulade as well! I love going back to Eastern Europe around Christmas time as it reminds me of being a kid, the cakes and mulled wine at the Christmas markets is always my downfall!

20bloodypounds · 15/12/2024 21:55

I've got 3 Christmas meals this year - an early one for dds and dgs (with pressents too); one just for me and dh (chef prepared and deliverd in a box); and one for dh's family - it will be first time they've ever come here for Christmas.

dds and dgs will be relaxed and laid back food, although there are vegetarians and allergies to work around. For dh's family it will be grown up dinner, main will be salmon en croute.

No pudding for me either time, and no inbetween nibbles (except maybe a couple of crisps).

poppym12 · 15/12/2024 22:25

I'm much preferring the sound of the Polish Christmas foods @CrazyGoatLady! I'm going to have a look for a decent Polish supermarket in town. Pretty sure there will be one here as I have a fair few Polish neighbours.

Mum0ntherun · 15/12/2024 22:38

This is my beautiful boy who passed away today and I am beyond heartbroken - not sure I've ever cried so much. I really want several large glasses of wine to numb the pain but the suppression is so strong today that I can't drink more than a sip. Who'd have thought I’d regret being on MJ!!!

Oh @Mum0ntherun I'm so sorry for your loss. They're very much a part of the family and the loss hits so hard. Lots and lots of love ❤️

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/12/2024 22:52

@owlyboo wow at almost 4st. You have had such great weekly results

@MabelSpan what will you do if can't be mended - hopefully you have a plug in radiator ?

@NippyCrab doesn't sound a lot to eat. Hope you are ok

@SilverSprings510 hope 10 is ok

I will plate a smaller roast dinner up for me. I don't have a huge sweet tooth and won't be buying all the usual crap food as dh not here so just a few nice nibbles if can manage that

But nothing going over board

I hope I won't gain as wed and thur is 25/26 and I WWJ Fri so 27

Equally it's maybe 6 meals out of 21 over the week so if careful we should be ok

Famous last words

Hoping for a sts that week

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/12/2024 22:54

Oh no, I'm so sorry what a stunning boy he was, big tight hugs from me and the spots. The pain is so bad when they leave us. Was he an old boy? My lovely friend has a Weim and he is just the most loving big lump, I adore him. 💔

@Blondeshavemorefun i know it's just not enough I know that but I honestly wouldn't thank you for a proper meals. My insides are too slow 🐌 😒 last night I had jasmine rice with some prawn and chicken curry leftovers that were in the freezer and I ate most of that. Give me a wee slap on the chops for motivation xx

Mum0ntherun · 16/12/2024 00:07

@NippyCrab he was coming up for 11 - Weims are just fabulous. We always called him our fourth and favourite child 😁. The pain is physical and seeing my kids and in particular my OH sobbing was so hard. I poured the wine but just couldn't drink it due to the suppression - in hindsight it was probably a good thing as I think I'd have downed the whole bottle if not more. 🥺

CrazyGoatLady · 16/12/2024 05:51

So sorry for your loss @Mum0ntherun your doggo looks like such a beautiful boy 💔

4pink1blue · 16/12/2024 07:15

Princessandthepie · 16/12/2024 08:05

Sorry for your loss @mum0ntherun

MargoLivebetter · 16/12/2024 08:53

so sorry about your lovely dog @Mum0ntherun . He looks absolutely gorgeous and like a true friend.

Still hating December with a passion, so I won't stay to dampen any festive spirit that is floating around. Just here to log my loss, which was 2lb this week. Mainly because I'm too busy to eat properly and I'm running around like a track athlete on Es. Roll on 27th December!!!

MabelSpan · 16/12/2024 09:25

@Mum0ntherun So so sorry that you have lost your beautiful, majestic, handsome boy. I know that pain you are feeling, it is the worst. Nothing I can say will ease it, just know my heart aches for you all. Sending hugs x
