@Mum0ntherun hope you managed a wee sleep. Was he your only dog? That makes it so much more raw. Hugs

@NippyCrab Yes, from My Protein. If you dont already, its worth checking their website for offers, I got some good deals last time. World's No.1 Online Sports Nutrition Brand | MYPROTEIN™ I did look into grants a few years ago but wasnt eligible, I will have another look around though.

@Blondeshavemorefun I have got an open fire and an old convector heater, but the electic heater costs a fortune and really doesnt make any difference. The open fire looks lovely but it only raised the temperature in the room by 3c to 15.9c and that was after it had been lit for 7 hours! My house is an old and drafty cottage. I have lots of throws, some thermals and hot water bottles so I can keep my body warm. It so bloody cold in the bathroom though! Who knew toilet seats could get so cold! I have had to order a heated clothes rail. It hadnt occurred to me that I wouldnt be able to get stuff dry, like towels after washing. And having to wash up mega fast as the kettle boiled water goes ice cold so fast!
It really is quite miserable.

Thanks for all your comments on your Christmas foods. It sounds like we are all affected the same way with a lack of interest in the usual Christmas goodies. Which I know is a good thing really, but its still very weird in my head!😄

We have an oil radiator that's brilliant if you were closer, it was invaluable when the heating was broken for a while. You can get heated loo seats, I worked in our village shop for a while when covid hit and I closed my dog walking business and the loo was baltic! There's nothing more cold than having a wee on a cold seat 🚽

@Mum0ntherun what a beautiful hound, I am sorry for your loss.

WorriedRelative · 16/12/2024 10:00

It is jab day for me later, and I have a new low on the scales 88.4kg, not a big loss but means I am no longer obese, even if I use the slightly shorter height they recorded for my work medical.

I need to drink more, I have been far too lax with my water intake recently. Doesn't help that the bottle I use for clear protein is stuck and I can't get the lid off!

WorriedRelative · 16/12/2024 10:07

@MabelSpan sorry to hear about your heating, please use your electric heater. It is more expensive than gas but you aren't using any gas so can use that saving to run an electric heater. Electric heaters are 100% efficient so no waste. Personally I would suggest getting a cheap fan heater, as they provide a more instant and directional heat than a convector or oil filled radiator. You won't be able to heat the whole house but you can sit in front of it and feel toasty.

We don't have gas so I know how hard it is to keep warm without central heating

MabelSpan · 16/12/2024 10:09

Ooh thanks @NippyCrab I was going to look for a heated loo seat today! I will do some digging on radiators and which might be best, if any, its only a small house but the downstairs is knocked through, so a large ish space compared to what is was before and I cant move the sofa next to the fire because of the door. Its a right pain.
Now I need to find some heated fingerless gloves as my fingers feel like ice and so does my nose!
Maybe I could adapt an egg cosy and tie elastic to it to keep my nose warm...
😂

MabelSpan · 16/12/2024 10:13

@WorriedRelative Well done on another loss, they keep on adding up! The most annoying thing about no heating, is I am on oil and had just had my tank filled, so my heating and hot water was all paid for and would have lasted all winter. Now I am trying to avoid a huge electric bill! Nothing is every simple is it!
I will research the heaters though. Thanks for your tips😊

Motnight · 16/12/2024 10:13

@Mum0ntherun - so sorry for your loss. What a handsome boy he was 💐

Yes just our gorgeous boy - the house is very empty without him. I've not slept and I know normally he'd have found me lazying in my bed today and burrowed in next to me.😢 We miss him so much 😔 even my burly hubbie hasn’t stopped crying - thanks for the hugs, needed and so appreciated xx

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 16/12/2024 10:28

@Mum0ntherun - so sorry for your loss. They are such a big part of the family, sending hugs to you all.

@MabelSpan - not a good time of year to be without heat. I WFH and have no radiator in the dining room so my house is always cold. I bought this a few weeks ago and been pretty impressed with it

Princessandthepie · 16/12/2024 10:51

I hit 3 stone weight loss yesterday.

3 stones off since 3rd August!

I thought I'd feel a bit more overjoyed but I'm just feeling a bit meh at the moment what with the kids and DH being ill, family dramas and xmas busyness, so I think that's clouding my happiness/sense of achievement. I know this sounds silly but my clothes didn't fit so I got some new bits and now they don't fit right and it's just bloody annoying. My new jeans seem to bunch and sag around my boots then twist round my leg so the inseam is at the front, then they fill a little tight around my belly and generally, feel uncomfortable so instead of looking and feeling nice, I just feel like a dumpling again like I did 3 stones ago!

My DH asked when am I going to stop and I actually don't know, I'm petrified of gaining 3 stones again and more. I got lost in one of the snarky threads about us MJ cheaters and now I just feel flat. Have I wasted yet more money on snake oil again?

Urgh

MabelSpan · 16/12/2024 12:15

Weigh in and jab day for me. Lost 1lb this week, taking me to 2st 13lbs. If I dont hit 3 stone plus next week I may have a hissy fit, if I can be bothered😄
I am reducing my dose to 4mg in the hope that it lifts my mood a little. I am so emotionally flat. I said previously I felt like Tigger before MJ turned me into Eeyore. Now I think I am an inflatable Eeyore with a very slow puncture😂I am not excited by my weight loss, Christmas, anything, its all just flat.

Anyway...
SW 20st 3lbs 14th Aug 24
CW 17st 4lbs 16th Dec 24
WL 1lb
TL 2st 13lb
Ave wkly loss 2.3lbs over 18 weeks.

I am now taking some time in the garden as its warmer out there than it is in my live-in fridge of a house 😂

20bloodypounds · 16/12/2024 12:23

@Princessandthepie I think the first few weeks of MJ carry us through - the anxiety about the first injection; the anticipation of pounds lost for the first time in years; the sharing of highs with others on here. I'm definitely suffering from winter blues, mixed with MJ blues. And weight loss journey seems interminable. But threads like this are so important for us to share - the good news and the bad. And you have lost 3 stone. That's not snake oil, it's an investment in something that is important to you.

@Mum0ntherun Flowers for you - what a beautiful looking dog, you must miss him so much x

Princessandthepie · 16/12/2024 12:42

@20bloodypounds winter blues are definitely in full swing here!
I know MJ isn't snake oil but I'm really frightened of life after, frightened of having spent so much money yet again for me to just pile the weight back on. It's like I almost feel pre-ashamed for the weight gain that hasn't happened.

Now, with Christmas just next wdnesday (😱), the thought of all the food is making me feel weird, I don't want it but it's not just my Christmas so I need to pull out all the stops for my family and make it lovely for them.

Hey ho, maybe when I find a pair of better fitting jeans, I'll feel better! 🙈

letshavetea · 16/12/2024 12:46

@Princessandthepie - nipped over here from the October thread to say 3 stone is amazing! But, mainly to say try M and S Sienna jeans. They fit really well. I’m currently in. 16 which are getting baggy round the bum. Normally they fit so well. No seam twisting!

Princessandthepie · 16/12/2024 13:27

@letshavetea thank you, I'll take a look in M&S

morbidcuriosity · 16/12/2024 13:39

Weigh in day.. and finally after 1lb a week for 3 weeks.. I've had a nice 4lb loss.. and that means I'm now "overweight" and see a 14 on the scales..

SW 18.6
CW 14.12

Am very happy with this.. and the joy of seeing a 14 was fabulous. . Now I'm wondering how amazing I will feel when I see a 13.. long way to go, but it feels achievable.

Fuffedoff · 16/12/2024 14:01

Hello!

I've been busy the last week or so, so haven't really had time to read the thread. Just caught up quickly.

I'm having a bit of a frustrating time at the moment. I've only lost 0.6kg since 1st December. It just seems to be bouncing to and through a few 100g each way.

I've been away this weekend and my diet was out of whack.

I've had a a couple of binges last two weeks- 1 each week.

I need to get my head back into the game, even if it is Christmas.

My moods dipping a bit but I understand why. I need to bring it back up again before I go on a downward spiral.

It's always hard this time of year for me. There can be quite a few triggers with my MH.

I'm feeling kind of rubbish work wise and that I'm behind others.

Anyway, hope everyone has a lovely day.

AdeloreSmore · 16/12/2024 14:57

I have bought 2 pairs of Sienna jeans from Vinted for about 3 quid each as I saw them recommended on mumsnet! Very comfy!

@AdeloreSmore sounds a bargain.

Mum0ntherun · 16/12/2024 17:48

@Blondeshavemorefun hey sweetie. Thanks for asking - not great if I’m honest. We’ve all been very teary today - he was a huge part of our family and the house is very empty.

Not sure if it’s suppression or grief but really struggling to eat over the last few days - peeled a banana to eat which was one of his favs (I never get to eat a full one as we always ‘shared’ 😁) just couldn’t face it.

I know we’ll deal with it eventually but I’m overwhelmed with how heartbroken we all are and I can’t do anything to help my OH who is devastated. My kids are older and I’m pleased the middle one made it home before our boy passed. Glad we’re together x
