I'm on my third 2.5mg week and constipation is fricking awful! I'm drinking lots, reduced carbs and high fibre etc. thinking of coming off it before I get proper fissures. Don't really want to start using laxatives and stool softeners.

Plus the whole family has been ill and thinking of suitable dinners for us all on top of that is driving me over the edge

I might be in a minority with this opinion but MJ doesn't work for everyone and there needs to be a balance between your overall health and your weight loss journey. There's no shame in stopping if it isn't right for you. Good luck with whatever you choose

Hi all

It feels like suppression is barely lasting a few days on 5mg, and apart from constipation, very little in the way of side effects, soI have ordered my 7.5mg from IQDoctor today. I have 2 doses of 5mg left (included bonus dose), but as last month, might skip the bonus to get started on 7.5 asap.

As an example, we went away last weekend, (Monday is my usual jab day) and on Saturday I ate a toasted christmas dinner sandwich for lunch (which made me nauseous for a couple of hours after), half a large pizza hut pizza for dinner, plus a bottle of red and a few snacks. Usually I would eat more in the way of sweets, which I did not crave at all, but was actually after savoury tasting stuff.

This was a bit of a one off though, and I am generally living on toast for breakfast/lunch, fruit as snacks and something protein/veg for dinner. usually after dinner is snack time, but dinner is usually enough now, but I do often have the appetite to go a bid mad at the weekend.

Its been a slow and steady loss and after 6 weeks but I am still not at a stone loss. I haven't been very good with exercise, so I do wonder if exercising a bit more might help? I don't enjoy exercising at the best of times, but needs must, as my next pen will take me up to my holiday abroad in Jan, and I could really do with shifting a bit more by then.

I do find that eating anything particularly greasy/fatty either goes pretty much straight through me, and/or makes me feel very nauseous, so either of those makes me not eat for the rest of the day.

I intend to continue over Christmas, which will be interesting, as christmas eve, christmas day and boxing day are all usually days when anything goes food wise!

The discount codes thread seems to be inundated with medexpress codes and no one used mine, so I went with IQ Doctor. I got a discount code with them from monj.co.uk which took the cost from £162 to £125. P&P was an additional £5 and they want a front view and side on selfie, with screen grab of your last prescription/order plus ID, but it was very straight forward.

Medexpress seems to offer further codes for customers who have not ordered in 50/70 days so hopefully I will get to use one from there again.

Seeing you all with good losses has kept me interested tho, and I live in hope of further losses.

ChaosDream · 28/11/2024 11:34

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 I'm experiencing similar on 5mg. Had good suppression on 2.5 and I've just ordered 7.5 so will start that next week. To be honest I was beginning to think 5mg was a placebo as I had very little side effects and very little appetite suppression.

Nevertheless I've stuck to calorie counting! I've found that anything sugary makes me feel unwell and the same for any fatty foods which I've been cutting out anyway.

I've recently been prescribed omeprazole as I've experienced some reflux at night since starting mounjaro but I wonder if it's because I have less food in my stomach and it's causing the acid to leak?

Hoping for better results on 7.5!

SW: 106kg
CW: 89kg
GW: 63kg

It does sound like you should try going up @DeltaAlphaDelta79 if you need more suppression.

I also think if you’re like this after 3 weeks it is better to come off. It just doesn’t work for everyone, and you are likely someone who can’t tolerate it.

personally I have a psyllium husk tablet , with a built in probiotic, every morning with a litre of water, the water is key as psyllium can also cause the opposite effect without it, and fortunately have had no digestive issues, and I eat what my family eats, I simply eat a smaller portion and I avoid the carbs, as I get too full otherwise and need to ensure I eat enough protein and veg/salad. I’ve not once cooked a different meal to before and our food each night is the same as it always has been.

i think though you mean cooking as they are all unwell.

but I’d also come off, it’s not intended to make you miserable.

Delighted as I've just come back from a 10 day holiday in Asia, and only gained half a pound. Mounjaro has definitely made it easier for me to make healthy choices, stop eating when full etc.

I am doing similar in Jan. I am toying with taking my pen with me (we have a room in the fridge) but I don't really want to buy a cooling pouch to travel with, as I wont use it again OR just taking my last dose of 7.5 the day before I leave, then resuming 7.5 or stepping up to 10 (as my 7.5 will have finished the day before I go) after a 2 week break.

Pennyplant19 · 28/11/2024 12:34

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 - I didn't take mine. I took a dose the night before I left, then another the night I returned, and the suppression seemed to last, or maybe I was just determined not to undo what I'd achieved so far!

Interesting thank you. I can only find guidance about a missed dose and carrying on asap, not 2 deliberately missed doses due to holiday. I am hoping that I can just carry on as normal when I get back. I do want to enjoy food while I am away, but not overeat (or add to the risk of a dodgy stomach) so will probably go with not taking it with me.

I am feeling pretty much the same on 5mg, suppression lasts 2-3 days then the hunger is back although luckily still finding it easier to eat healthier than I would have done on those days as the reduction in food noise is still there.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 28/11/2024 13:47

This is not an ad I promise, but I started my order this morning at 8.45. I has been reviewed and now confirmed as dispatched for delivery tomorrow or saturday!

Bellablahhole · 28/11/2024 19:06

Good evening everyone

Well done to all who have posted about recent losses - our little group are doing brilliantly!

Sorry for those who are finding it tough. If your MJ journey needs to end, then I hope you find a way to continue your weight loss.

8 weeks done and a 3lb loss this week. 5mg is working well for me at the moment, with minimal side effects. Not even disappointed that I didn't quite hit 1.5 stone off in 8 weeks - I'm hopeful it will come soon.

Week 8 weigh in:
SW 14:4.8 (BMI 30.6)
CW 12:12.0 (BMI 27.4)
Total loss 1st 6.8lb
GW 10st?

Hope you all have a good week.

Maggi85 · 28/11/2024 20:35

Hi All I need to catch up on all posts just got back off a holiday had a jab before I went and had one this evening so 13 days between, I found I ate a lot smaller portions that I normally would so something is working. Will weigh in the morning and see what the damage is.

TheChosenTwo · 28/11/2024 20:52

Day 5 of 5mg, still feeling pretty strong suppression. Had a small chicken salad for lunch which I had to force down and just had half a homemade pizza for dinner which I also didn’t really want but knew I needed as I’ve had a pretty low calorie week due to suppression. Happy to have it back though as the last 2 weeks of 2.5mg I found the suppression was wearing off within 3-4 days and I was having to deploy will power much earlier than anticipated!

ohforfoxs · 28/11/2024 21:01

I haven't been on here for a while - since the first thread I think. It's reassuring to hear others are noticing changes in suppression.

I've lost just over a stone and about to take my 7th dose at the weekend.

I've been feeling really out of sorts this week - so much so I felt I couldn't go into work today, and burst into tears telling my boss I wasn't well. Then tonight, I got a period. What's thrown me is I have a merina coil, am 54 and haven't had a period in about 16 years. I'm wondering if it's weight-loss, or the jab? Or maybe totally unrelated 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've also had a period and I haven't had one for many years (52 years young)! Definitely the MJ triggering that. Very light but still 🤷🏼‍♀️

ohforfoxs · 28/11/2024 22:23

Thank you Rockingbird - reassuring to know it's not just me. Does it worry you? I'm shocked more than anything!

EVK · 28/11/2024 22:28

How very strange ! No period in 16 years! I would think that’s pretty unusual. Can’t imagine why or how MJ would do that but it’s a strange coincidence. Has the marina coil moved or something? Maybe contact your GP?

ohforfoxs · 28/11/2024 22:36

Thanks @EVK, I think I will - but am going to give it a couple of days to settle.

I now worry that everything is a side effect of MJ!

EVK · 28/11/2024 23:15

I know what you mean - but it would be a highly unusual side effect I think? Obviously,
I'm no expert! I guess it’s possible that sudden weight loss may have change hormonal function but enough to give you a period after 16 years seems extreme. It’s usually the other way around too. Possibly, internal anatomy has changed due to weight loss? But that seems unlikely as well - definitely worth speaking to your doctor as sounds more likely linked to the coil. I suppose with the coil you never know if you’ve gone through menopause or it’s just your periods have ceased because of the coil. Could be linked to menopause?

EVK · 28/11/2024 23:16

Didn’t see this - how strange ?!

EVK · 28/11/2024 23:17

I’ve been menopausal for 9 years - no period and no bleeding here thank goodness 😅

crumbsonmyface · 28/11/2024 23:47

Had my 8th shot today (how the hell has it been 8 weeks already!!) - typing this in bed and freezing.

What's everyone doing for Christmas parties? X

envbeckyc · 29/11/2024 00:33

I am sure that when I was looking into starting the injection it suggested that it can interfere with hormonal contraception. Luckily I was sterilised at the same time my second daughter was born by C-section, I had a horrific birth with my first daughter and emergency C-section and my second daughter was breech so I was told that a natural delivery was unsafe. The consultant looked at my age, and advised me that I was a suitable candidate for sterilisation and I agreed as I felt two children was enough, and was happy to quit while ahead!

I have been suffering terribly with Perimenopause for the last couple of years but the HRT patches made my Adenomyosis much worse and triggered continued bleeding for 9 weeks (The Adenomyosis was probably caused by my C- sections) and was diagnosed by scan. I therefore had to stop HRT and literally sweat it out!

Since I started the injection I have noticed an almost instant reduction in hot flushes, I sometimes get the MJ shivers though… so I suspect it is doing something to my hormones to regulate them.

I have just taken my 8th injection and reordered another 5mg pen as I am feeling at lot of appetite suppression and if that reduces slightly over Christmas that may be a helpful thing as I think that I would like to eat some small Christmas treats.

Is anyone else benefiting from reduced perimenopause symptoms on the injection?

Has anyone else decided to stay on 5mg for their third pen?

recklessgran · 29/11/2024 05:50

Morning all, it's jab and weigh day for me.
I'm a bit disappointed that I haven't lost anything this week so I'm still stuck on 14st 13.5lbs with a total loss so far of 7.5lbs in 6 weeks.
I have a dilemma now as I'm guessing that I need to increase my dose up from 2.5mgs. I've noticed that suddenly I don't have any suppression to speak of and although I haven't succumbed to my usual snacking the food noise is back and I am eating slightly more than I was in the beginning but still in a massive calorie deficit,[tracking 1000-1200]. The joys of hypothyroidism and age I guess.
I'm worried though about the side effects which I find incompatible with the reality of my life. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and try 3.75mgs but tomorrow is DH's birthday and we have a whole family lunch [5DD's, partners etc] out on Sunday. I think I'm going to have to wait until Sunday evening to jab so that if I'm floored again at least it won't ruin DH's birthday weekend. The problem is that my side effects are unmanageable as I just get crashing exhaustion which renders me virtually comatose so all I can do is go to bed and sleep it off. This is accompanied by lightheadedness and nausea but thankfully no unpleasant GI stuff like others have suffered .
I'm interested in hearing if anyone tried 3.75mgs as a step up to 5mgs and whether it was manageable. The alternative is that I try 3 then 3.5, then 4 etc but I don't really want to mess with doses to such an extent nor do I want to give up as I feel this is last chance saloon for me.Your collective thoughts are very welcome and apologies for rambling!
