Well done @Darlinghag! incredible 🙂

TinglyandCurious · 11/12/2024 10:48

I need to try this cottage cheese… 😄

peonym · 11/12/2024 13:11

I wish I liked cottage cheese!!

Hi everyone well done on the check ins - even coming on here to stay accountable at this time of year is impressive.

Im chugging away, still on 7.5mg and it's working ok I think.

SW: 18,10
MJ SW: 16,10
CW: 15,0
GW: 10,7

Am roughly losing a 1lb a week now.

velvetseven · 11/12/2024 13:50

Took 5mg dose this week after dropping to 3.75 last week. Dreadful side effects of diarrhoea abd vomiting overnight. Was thinking seriously about giving up, I can’t cope with feeling like this, if anything it’s worse than my first 5mg jab a couple of weeks ago. Tell me it gets better!

Doggymummar · 11/12/2024 13:52

That cottage cheese is never in stock. Where you all finding it?

Darlinghag · 11/12/2024 13:55

@Doggymummar their website has stockists if you put your postcode in. My nearest options are ASDA and Morrisons!

Home Bargains, Morrisons or Asda, though Asda is a bit hit and miss,

Assuming you were OK on 2.5 or even 3.75, it was probably a little too hopeful for you to return to 5mg after just one week.

If you continue on MJ, I would go back to the last successful dose and stay on it for a few weeks. Or go up more gradually ie. 3.75, 4, 4.25, etc or increasing by a few clicks each week.

You are obviously comfortable with taking a partial dose, so I am making a suggestion on this basis. I took the transition up from 2.5 very slowly and at 26 weeks am on 8.33mg. I keep a detailed spreadsheet, but would recommend you at least keep a note if you decide to return to partial dose.

Bum, we have Waitrose Sainsbury's and MAndS

velvetseven · 12/12/2024 09:13

Thank you @Swissrollover for your advice. I think you are sensible to suggest staying on the lowest dose that works for me. I will revert back for my next dose. I definitely can’t cope with the side effects on 5mg.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 12/12/2024 09:39

Morning all. I've been very quiet after a few tough few weeks with family health issues. I've had a 5lb whoosh this morning which has well and truly broken a stall, and I'm tantalisingly close to breaking through the BMI 30 barrier.

I've ordered 10mg for my next pen and my prescriber has queried it as I was previously on 12.5mg. I hope they accept my explanation that the suppression is uncomfortably high on 12.5mg. My further reason (although they don't need to know this) is that I'm now within 24lb of the original target that I set myself, and I want to start thinking about maintenance, so I'm thinking about ways to titrate down the doses and begin to stretch out the periods between doses.

Incidentally, I started taking a probiotic a few weeks ago and have had no gastric side effects at all since. Might be worth exploring for those who are having a rough time.

Congrats @VelociraptorsVelociRapping

How is everyone feeling on the run to Christmas? I have adjusted my jab day so that I moved to Friday last week (first 10mg) with view to being 'lowest' suppression on Christmas Day when with all the family (who don't know I'm doing this).

I'm now 21 weeks in and 3lbs away from making it to 4stone lost (and that's my aim to hit by NYE. Still looking to do another 2 stone after that but for the first time ever that looks achievable! Xmas Smile

InfoSecInTheCity · 12/12/2024 19:57

@Jfw82 I'm not planning on going crazy over Xmas. Friends and family know not to buy me food gifts and I haven't been tempted to buy my own stash of mince pies or anything which feels really odd because usually I'd be grabbing something every time I hit a shop.

We're having Xmas dinner on Boxing Day at the in-laws and it will be a serve yourself deal, so planning on turkey and the veg without potatoes, yorkies etc.

Xmas day is just me, DH and DD, DD got to pick the menu this year so we're having an all day buffet style thing where a couple of times throughout the day we'll shove some party food in the oven, then put it on the table to pick at whenever we want. DH and DD have loads of carbs/ beige foods from Iceland and Tesco picked out that they want. I have stuff like chicken satay, pickled onions, cheese and pineapple on sticks..... for my selection so should be able to eat well, possibly over calorie but stick to low carb.

Bibulous · 12/12/2024 22:30

I went to my work Christmas lunch on Tuesday and it was fine. It was a carvery-style meal so I chose turkey and then went light on the roast potatoes and added boiled veg. I then skipped dessert by going to find a coffee then chatting with colleagues on another table. I'm happy with how it went but it has reminded me that Christmas isn't that far away and I've been so blasé about food that I have yet to do any meal planning or bought any treats!

WeAllHaveWings · 13/12/2024 13:11

I have my first Christmas meal tonight, but it is in a restaurant and I won't be able to go and hide like @Bibulous

I am thinking, say I don't want a starter, then they have a salmon/peppers dish with veg, crushed potatoes which I can also leave most of the potatoes, then a lemon posset or sorbet which I am hoping is quite small.

I am driving so I won't drink, trying to think what soft drink I can have which is not carbonated (as it bloats me since I started MJ) and not as boring as water!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 13/12/2024 17:12

Has anyone who has been here a while noticed any hair loss?

I hadn't especially, but I went to the hairdresser today and she thought that my hair was finer, and showed me loads of new baby hairs growing through. The last time I had this was after I had both of my children. I have been taking zinc and recently added collagen, which might be helping with the regrowth.

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping
Yes I have, I’ve lost loads 😩 I luckily have really thick hair but can see it’s got a LOT thinner on my hairline 🙈

Snozzlemaid · 13/12/2024 18:12

I had a bit of hair loss about 5 months in. Started taking biotin tablets each day, made more of an effort with protein intake and I think it has slowed down now.

Bibulous · 13/12/2024 21:52

@WeAllHaveWings I hope your work Christmas dinner goes well. Looking back at mine I think I was much more worried about what other people might think about what I was or was not eating than they really were. I doubt most people even noticed and even if they did nobody said anything. I just had a good time, ate what I wanted to eat and stopped when I'd had enough.

WeAllHaveWings · 14/12/2024 11:16

I am officially just obese again! (for the second time since I found out I am 4cm shorter than I originally thought! 🫣)

End of week - 25 (5 x 2.5mg, 20 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 16st 9lbs BMI 34.9
Losses - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1
Total loss - 4st 10lbs (66lbs), 22.1%
Next Target - 16st 9lbs / BMI < 35 by Christmas🎄(1 week to go, DONE! 😊)

Now the aim will be to maintain around that over the holiday period before setting new targets in the new year!

Thanks @Bibulous , typo, meal is today with extended family (there are around 25 of us), some I haven't seem since I started MJ. They are likely to be more observant and inquisitive than work colleagues and not scared to open their mouths and interrogate! You know the type, the old aunties whose hobby is to critique everyone - whether they are thinner/fatter/look older/changed hair colour/changed jobs/moved house/partners/parenting! They are lovely really, would do anything for anyone, but have no filters! I am just hoping injections are not on anyone's radar.

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping My hair has been thinning for the last 5 years (menopause) and has really suffered since starting MJ. I had covid the first week I started MJ/losing weight and there was a massive loss weight and hair in that week and my hair still hasn't recovered 6 months on/I am still shedding everywhere. I am throwing everything at it as I know it will take months to see any results. Vitamins - Perfectil (the HAIR version), and extra Collagen, Biotin, B12, Iron spray. Treatments - Daily Minoxidil foam (Regaine), bi weekly Nizoral KCZ shampoo. Also trying to eat well as much protein as possible, topped up with a clear protein drink daily. I have a telephone appointment with the Dr in a few weeks to talk HRT for meno symptoms and I hope it might help my hair too, my priority in the call is HRT, but if I get a chance I am going to ask if they will take bloods to check my vitamin levels (unlikely they will). Its early days but I can see a small crop of unruly baby hairs (< 1 inch) sticking out/up on one side of my hair line which I hope is the start of some regrowth or it might be I am just noticing more, the other side and rest of head is still painfully thin with a 20p sized bald spot along the hairline. 😟

Bibulous · 14/12/2024 15:05

End of week 8. 3lbs down this week which means I've lost two and a half stone since I started! My favourite jeans are feeling looser and I've realised I'm sleeping better too.

@WeAllHaveWings congrats on becoming obese and good luck with your family meal! I've got a similar event tomorrow with family I haven't seen since I started on MJ. I've still got a huge amount of weight to lose so I doubt anyone will notice but even if they do I'm going to say I'm just watching what I eat and then change the subject.

Edited

Thank you for the advice re the extra vitamins you take. My hair is thin already so it’s something I’ll be watching.

Taken my first injection tonight. Surprised how I didn’t feel A THING. My ivf jabs hurt like crazy. Fingers crossed xx

Anley · 14/12/2024 21:22

Started today with exactly 5st to lose so hopefully I can join this lovely supportive thread. I’m on 2.5mg Mounjaro. Day 1 and not feeling anything - not sure what i was expecting.

While I too would love to see the weight go
down quickly, I accept that this is a big lifestyle change tool and that I need to make it happen.
so I hope it works and that I greet Christmas 2025 closer (if not at) my goal weight.

SW: 15st 3lbs
GW: 10st 2-3lbs

TorturedParentsDepartment · 15/12/2024 12:07

Woo hoo I made it into the 21stones - 21st 12lb today - from a start of 24st 12lb (but I shed a bit of that from naturally losing holiday weight before I started jabbing). Definitely seeing a bit of an impact in clothes fitting looser now - t-shirts I was squeezed into are now starting to hang down properly like they are meant to do.

Pumpkinforever · 15/12/2024 12:20

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I take biotin to hopefully help with hair loss
