doses as usual for me too, but to be fair i jab on a sunday and my suppression eases a lot by wednesday typically. I think i might jab earlier in the day instead though.

Technically its a 1.7lb loss for me this week, but its been a funny ten days where i have been up quite a bit and now slowly dropping down again. I am still aiming to hit 16st7 by christmas day, so two pounds exactly to go!

I am sticking to my tracking and deficit (but eating mince pies within that deficit!) precisely through this month, and got my shop in yesterday and didn’t order loads of christmas goodies!! I just had one box of mince pies and switched out my usual treats for festive ones! My only planned ‘non tracking’ is going to be one day this weekend for a specific event and three days over christmas, where i’m not going to bother. And that feels like more than enough, no desire to do otherwise!

hope folks have a successful week. We are getting hanmered by storm darragh today, in the red zone, so taking a cosy day in (and praying for my fence to not move streets!)

Bibulous · 07/12/2024 11:49

End of week 7. 3lbs down since last Saturday for a total of 32lbs down since I started.

I ordered my next 5mg pen early to avoid the worst of the Christmas post rush but even then the delivery got messed up and it took two days to get here. The ice pack had completely melted but still felt cool so I'm hoping it didn't get too warm in transit.

WeAllHaveWings · 07/12/2024 13:33

Saturday weigh in and a happy 3lb loss 😊

End of week - 24 (5 x 2.5mg, 19 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 16st 10lbs BMI 35.1
Losses - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3
Total loss - 4st 9lbs (65lbs), 21.7%
Next Target - 16st 9lbs / BMI < 35 by Christmas🎄(2 weeks, just 1lb to go! 😊)

For Christmas 🎄 I was considering moving my injection day so I had the least suppression on Christmas day to enjoy my dinner, but my suppression comes and goes during the week depending on what I have eaten the day before, so I am likely to do a bit of calorie cycling and not overdo Christmas Eve so I can hopefully enjoy my dinner on Christmas day, but if I am feeling full that day I'll focus on the meat and veg and just a little carbs.

Being 6 months into Mounjaro and being on the same dose for so long it is easier to judge how the day will go for me, I understand how it is going to be much harder and more worrying for anyone just starting or recently changed doses. Remember there is so much more to enjoying Christmas than food and hopefully Mounjaro will help us all realise that this year more than any before 🎄💗.

@Bibulous In this weather I am sure it will be ok, the packaging should keep it cool enough for 48hrs.. In the summer, because I am in Scotland with longer transit times, all the ice packs were coming defrosted but still cool. I had my pen for January delivered this week too and DPD were struggling, kept changing the time that day eventually got it late evening. I spoke to the Evri driver when he delivered a parcel (I know him from 40 years ago!) and he told me it was bedlam, he had >200 parcels to deliver that night when it was usually around 100. I'm glad my next pen is in the fridge and that's something else ticked off the Christmas prep list!

@Arglefraster It has been that long since I've been a healthy weight not sure what my figure is anymore 🤣 but it was pretty hourglass way back in the day! I was at the hairdresser yesterday, she asked if I had lost weight last time I was in but I mumbled something as the salon was busy and she dropped it, this time it was a bit quieter and she told me I was looking great. She is the only person who has commented so far, I don't mind it from her as she has been my hairdresser since the early 1990s and she fought her own obesity battle years ago (including a full body lift) and knows the challenges. I never mentioned the injections though, I would have told her if she was on her own but she has two young juniors around most of the time and for some reason (and I am not sure why) I didn't want to normalise it for them.

@Darlinghag After saying I have never seen a B body before picture on facebook.....one popped up this morning. Her after photo was good! There is hope for us B's yet!

TorturedParentsDepartment · 07/12/2024 14:13

Had some sulphur burps after 5mg pen but nothing more than that - am now down to 22st 5lb from a start weight of 24st 12lb.

Doggymummar · 07/12/2024 15:40

@TorturedParentsDepartment I had a McDonald's chocolate orange pie earlier in the week and had the buros for two days, hideous isn't it.

Arglefraster · 07/12/2024 23:15

Haha @WeAllHaveWings I've only ever been overweight past the age of 14 at any rate but always hourglass by virtue of the big hips & boobs 😂🙈 my waist is thicker now (relatively) in my late 40s though!

Amazing to see your wee ticker of each week's loss - it really is a reminder that it all adds up. You must feel amazing.

My jag day was Friday but moved to Thursday for other reasons so suppression will be low for Christmas Day although I'm wary of taking the dose after with a full stomach.

I've actually been wondering about doing a longer fast at the end of each week - keen for the skin benefits. Wondering if anyone else does this? Would be something like a 36hr fast on day 5 or 6.

oulala · 08/12/2024 10:24

I've not posted for ages, had a pretty busy month. 12 weeks in and 38 lbs down and I finally had someone notice I have lost weight! I also had to buy a new pair of jeans yesterday as the pair I was wearing kept falling down. I am currently on 7.5mg and have just reordered the same as I don't want maximum suppression over Christmas and don't want to risk the reflux I get when I step up a dose.

My biggest fear was getting that wrinkly skin on my throat but my skin seems to have been rather forgiving. I have been using a really good night cream, taking biotin and collagen so hopefully this will help. No loose skin on my tummy yet. Fingers crossed 🤞

WeAllHaveWings · 08/12/2024 18:20

@oulala I've got a turkey neck now when I wake (I am mid 50s so I guess it's to be expected), but it has usually disappeared by late morning, I assume as I am hydrated by then. Never realised how important water is until recently.

CrazyKats · 09/12/2024 18:52

NSV....I can cross my shortie legs more easily!

TinglyandCurious · 09/12/2024 22:12

Hi 🙂

I was hoping to join your thread after being directed here by @WeAllHaveWings.

I’ve got a good 6/7 stone to lose (although would be so happy with 3 as an initial goal.)

I am going to start mounjaro the first week of January. Am I right in thinking I can order a pen now and as long as it’s not opened it can sit for longer than 30 days? Would rather get it now than during the Christmas rush but obviously won’t be using it straight away.

I’ve just turned 40 and feel like I might finally be on the brink of a real life change (after 25 years of failed diets - losing two stone, regaining three on repeat etc) but also don’t want to build it up too much in my head as (clearly) my attempts to control my weight have never worked before. It’s such a rollercoaster.

This seems like such a nice, supportive thread . So impressed by what you’ve all achieved.

Darlinghag · 09/12/2024 22:28

Welcome @TinglyandCurious !

yes you can, just pop in the fridge til you use it!

its a good bunch here!

i am still 6-7 stone away from my goal (almost 4.5 stone down - half via MJ) but would be happy to lose another 5!

alltablenochairs · 10/12/2024 00:09

Weigh in day today. Not that much lost but then not that surprised either. Loooooooooong week last week not helped by having to deal with an agency who thinks 'signposting' (aka fobbing off) and 'tips and advice' (been there, done that, didn't work) is a suitable substitute for actually doing what they're supposed to and help. I don't give in that easily though. I'm working on A Plan and oh boy am I going to get a hell of a lot of satisfaction from it. As much satisfsction asbI have been getting from the Walkers chicken sensations. For those who want to know what I'm talking about it relates to a fundamentally flawed and entirely unfit for purpose SEND system.

Another dose of 7.5 for me this morning. However it's left an almighty bruise approx 4 fingers across. I'm not surprised because I bruise easily anyway. I've been keeping my pen in the fridge so might take it out an hour beforehand next week and see what happens. I'll also probably stay on 7.5 or the next pen because it's quite a nice balance between suppression/lack of food noise and weight loss without too many dodgy side effects.

@TinglyandCurious I have my next pen in the fridge waiting for me. DPD who deliver the pens from Simple Online Pharmacy are reasonably reliable in this area but with the Christmas rush I wanted to already have it here and ready so I could avoid running out between Christmas/NY

Dress progress: still an absolute flat no. It is going to fit me though and I am going to the wedding wearing the thing.

Snozzlemaid · 10/12/2024 04:15

Welcome @TinglyandCurious
Yes, you can keep the pen in the fridge until you're ready to use it. They have an expiry date on them so you've got until then to use it. Most now have good long expiry dates on them.
Once you've had your first dose it should all be used up in 30 days.
Good luck with it, I really hope it's as life changing for you as it has been for me.
Weight loss so far, 4st 12lbs, since the end of May.

Snozzlemaid · 10/12/2024 04:17

Here's a good website to find the best deals https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 10/12/2024 07:02

Welcome @TinglyandCurious. Yes, your pen will have a long expiry date on it so it will be fine to wait u til you are ready.

May I gently suggest, however, that you have a think about your reasons for waiting? You don’t need to explain them to me or anyone else but it might be a helpful first step for your own process in the mindset shift that we are all going through. Before this journey I would have seen Christmas as an excuse for one last blowout (I’m not saying this applies to you, of course). MJ is helping me to understand how to enjoy celebrations without seeing them as an opportunity to binge. Just a thought. Good luck.

Not been on here for a while because life is shit at the moment, but hit a milestone today. I can see 15 on the scales! 2 and a half stone lost in 13 weeks.

WeAllHaveWings · 10/12/2024 13:08

Welcome @TinglyandCurious !

I agree with so much of what you are saying @VelociraptorsVelociRapping and I will be continuing MJ throughout the Christmas period and enjoying Christmas as the new non-food obsessed me! By this time of year I usually have a big box of Christmas snacks, crisps, chocolates, nuts, biscuits built up.........I have bought nothing as I don't particularly want it - I asked dh and ds and they have said don't bother buying anything. My M&S order is about £100 cheaper! Saving me a small fortune but I'll need to remember to get "something" in for visitors - I just don't want to stockpile it!

I am also trying to think back to my first couple of weeks, and don't think I was in "journey" mode I am in now at that point, I was in the panicking about side effects but also how this medicine was going to impact me. So close to Christmas, when everything is so busy, perhaps travelling and perhaps (not everyone gets them) having unpleasant side effects, thinking about who you are going to tell and not tell and explaining perhaps not being able to eat Christmas dinner, is not going to make Christmas the stress free holiday it should be.

Then again, if Christmas is mostly at home and work is stressful it might be worth getting the first couple of weeks of MJ done before going back to work. I would have found the decision to start quite tough to make this close to Christmas with all the unknowns.

Well done on seeing the 15 on the scales @alwaysscared ! I saw 16st recently and it was a good mini celebration! 💗

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 10/12/2024 15:35

Very true @WeAllHaveWings and there are many good reasons not to start MJ in December if travelling or navigating a busy social calendar! It’s impossible to know how anyone will respond to a new medication.

TinglyandCurious · 10/12/2024 18:13

Thanks everyone, that’s really helpful. Will order my first pen this week so it’s all ready for me.

Amazing losses on the board, you must all be delighted 🙂 So nice to see people responding well.

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping - firstly love your username - storybots big favourite in our household! Secondly you make a really valid point about seeing Christmas as a final splurge opportunity. I won’t lie, that is definitely part of my decision (many years of ingrained thinking and habits) but also because I work in a busy NHS department that tends to go a bit mad over the Christmas period and the fear of managing side effects on top of that is big. We tend to be quieter in January so feels less intimidating to start then.

Trying to plan some good high protein, low calorie meal options for when I start. I’ve also seen recommendations for drinking water with added electrolytes and a good multivitamin. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

BingoWingsOverScotland · 10/12/2024 19:35

I think the main thing that there's consensus on here, food-wise, is that Longley Farm is the only cottage cheese worth bothering with!

Darlinghag · 10/12/2024 20:13

@alwaysscared congratulations!!

i’m actually looking forward to seeing what MJ will do for me over Christmas, I think!! i still have appetite at the back end of the week, and still desire things, just at a much lower frequency, so looking forward to seeing how it goes!

@TinglyandCurious Lots of us have little side effects, you may be one! I had some slight nausea and headaches (mostly down to dehydration!) in the first couple of weeks. Since then, very little negative side effects. I think feeling cold is the only one of note! I always attribute my slow, steady loss down to not being a hyper responder, which includes the flipside of illnessn

BingoWingsOverScotland · 10/12/2024 21:40

The things I want are much more specific. I don't just want chocolate, I want a Bendicks Bittermint or a Lindor truffle. And just one or two. That really is a change for me.

InfoSecInTheCity · 10/12/2024 21:56

BingoWingsOverScotland · 10/12/2024 19:35

I think the main thing that there's consensus on here, food-wise, is that Longley Farm is the only cottage cheese worth bothering with!

Tis lush!

Unfortunately totally ruined me for any other cottage cheese, they all just taste like lumpy sour gloop now.

Darlinghag · 11/12/2024 09:07

Folks, I’ve made my Christmas day target 🥹

The last week or two has been slow and weird for me, but since saturday I have somehow lost 3.3lbs?? And this means I am now 16st 5.7, and past my Christmas day 16st 7 target!! Just wild to me!!

I’ve been aiming for half a stone (ish) a month (ish!) so I am thrilled with this! I have a longer term interim goal of getting under 15st by mid March, which feels very feasible now!

Arglefraster · 11/12/2024 10:38

Hi @TinglyandCurious 👋 my only regret about Mj is I didn't start sooner...

Sorry things are still so tough @alwaysscared

Congratulations @Darlinghag 🎉🎉🎉

It must have been the cottage cheese chat that called me I love the bloody stuff.

I'm plodding away have been very pleased at my mind shift back to "the baking isn't for me" "the sweets are only for the kids" which is my normal but went to pot over a very stressful period this summer. MJ is really only "working" for 4/7 days but it's easy to have will power for only 3 days at a time
so I'm happy not rushing up the doses.

Wondering if I might need to put my pen in the fridge to protect it from freezing as it's so bloody cold...
