@CrazyKats no mention from anyone here either, not even my bloody husband and I'm 2st 5lb down and 2 dress sizes so I know I must look thinner 20/22 -> 16/18

I dont really know what my goal is 11st 10lb will have me to the top of healthy BMI, my 'ideal' weight according to online calculators is 10st 1lb but I was 11st when I was 11years old so no idea what I'd look like as an 11st adult.

Currently 13st 1lb so about 1 and a half stone to go till I know.

Snozzlemaid · 06/12/2024 13:59

I've lost over 4.5 stone now and saw work colleagues this week, after not seeing them in person for months, and not a single mention.

Pumpkinforever · 06/12/2024 15:21

@Snozzlemaid well that’s just bloody rude of them. However some might be jealous and others might think weight is a sore topic.

Well done that is a fantastic loss.

Doggymummar · 06/12/2024 16:09

Yeah I'm on my way to 5stone and no one said anything, but my clothes size hadn't changed. I can't imagine how I must have looked squishing and extra four stone plus into my jeans etc. shudders.

I think some of us carry weight differently. I have lost 3st and am at a point where people are starting to notice but I am still in all the same clothes too

Darlinghag · 06/12/2024 16:38

@Snozzlemaid honestly I would not take offence. I would never mention weightloss to someone without them mentioning it first. even if its obvious. I personally have a really bad tolerance for negativity around body image, listening to eating disorder esque behaviours etc and don’t engage in that chat outside of mumsnet!

i think its partially down to a lifetime of negative body talk as ive always been fat but also, ten years ago i lost a lot of weight due to illness that was so severe it made want to die, and all people would comment on was how much better i looked. It drove me wild.

It doesnt mean people dont notice though!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 06/12/2024 16:47

I have posted about this before but having lost weight at previous points in my life there is has been a very noticeable shift in what people feel comfortable mentioning. I think most people understand that it's not acceptable to comment on people's bodies. The exception has been women a little older than me, who are soaked in the diet culture of the 80s and 90s!

I havent done an update for a few weeks on here (infact last one was on the last thread)

SW 134.7kg
Mini GW 100kg
GW 80kg (BMI just under 30)

CW 115.3kg (21 weeks)
19.4kg/42.8lb lost
55.9% to Mini GW
35.5% to GW

I am flying to Australia mid April (20 weeks away) and have prebooked one of the extra leg room/emergency exit seats. I know they are narrower seats and would stuggle to have been comfy in them at my biggest (and prob now as well) so this is my motivator at the moment - I am hoping that if I get to under my mini goal by then I will be ok. (I am trying to find a chair or something hat might be the same width as them to give me some idea)

I also am trying to make up my mind if I am going up a doze or not, taking my third injection of my third 7.5mg pen tomorrow. I do have a 10mg one ordered but I know I can change it to a 7.5mg if I want. I dont want to rush up the injections if I dont need to and I am still having some supression on the 7.5mg so I think I am sticking but having an internal debate with myself (the delivery is booked for the 18th so still do have some time).

The other thing I have done is I have worked out what day I want to take my injection on up to & including Australia, I have a couple of trips away before then, including a 2 week one and have done a plan of the best day to take the injection to work round them (taking it with me but the best day around traveling etc). I have a lovely spreadsheet tracking it all :-)

I am tall (as well as fat!) and booked the exit seat on the plane for the leg room.

It was mortifying, the seat belt didn't fit (It was years ago and I was probably a size 20-22 at the time), I asked the air steward (male!) for help and was told they can't use seat belt extenders in the emergency exit row as they are a trip hazard, so they had to wait until everyone had boarded, find a seat for me to move to, he escorted me to the new seat telling me I wasn't that big it must be the seat 😳. Got to the new seat and the seat belt fitted fine with inches to spare! Don't know if seatbelts are shorter in that row or if it was just an odd seatbelt, put me off exit rows for life! Although I would hope long haul flight seat would be a bit roomier, maybe check with the airline to be sure rather than be embarrassed on the day.

in today’s Times.

Nice, the health watchdog, has ruled that 3.4 million adults are eligible for Mounjaro, the most effective so far in a revolutionary new class of anti-obesity injections. But a lack of NHS capacity means only 220,000 of these patients, fewer than one in ten, will be given the drug over the next three years, after spending years on waiting lists.

The arrival of weight-loss jabs has created a two-tier system for slimming down. Wealthy patients happy to pay £150 a month can easily get their hands on the miracle drugs, but anyone hoping to get them on the NHS may have to wait for years.

The drugs could ultimately “benefit a larger population”, because one in four adults in the UK — nearly 15 million people — are considered obese, meaning they have a BMI of more than 30.The rollout of Mounjaro will begin next year to patients who are already receiving care in specialist NHS weight-loss services

I don't think I've ever been called wealthy before - how nice for us all to be loaded. (I know its all relative and I'm not saying I'm skint cause I'm not).

I am a very careful budgeter & I've track all my spending for at least 5 years now. I can confim that my grocery shopping spend has dropped substanstially these last few months, and if you factor in no alcohol/drinks out etc spends I'm actuallly saving ££ being on MJ and I have the personal financial data to prove it.

Just realised its Friday - time for a jab!

RobinEllacotStrike · 06/12/2024 17:32

I went to a work thing with a colleague I've not seen for about a year - he also struggles with weight. I knew he would notice my weight loss & I didn't mind at all (I work mostly with men who don't notice when you come back from lunch with a dramatically different haircut and I also now WFH so eveyone has forgotten what I look like).

On the way there I was thinking "I wonder if MRX is on MJ too?" - he'd definitly be the type to be interested.

He's on Wegovy & we compared notes 😁

Doggymummar · 06/12/2024 17:34

I save more on the monthly shop then I spend on MJ. It seems expensive but when you factor that in it's about the same. Last week we skipped the shop completely the Ocado guy just brought 100fags for my oH. This week it's fags 5 tins op soup and sparkling water. My shop used to be 200 a week, now it less than 100 most weeks and the freezer had no room for anything as nothing is going out.

RobinEllacotStrike · 06/12/2024 17:38

sorry but the Ocado guy delivering 100 fags/smokes and soup made me laugh a lot.

I've watched Joan on ITVX this week - 80's period drama and everyone is smoking all the time in it.

I'd never smoke now but it did make me feel quite nostalgic for the olden days.

Scales have finally shifted a little for me. I got to my lowest of 16st9.7 last wednesday and then gained for a solid week! But today, 16st9.4!!

Does anyone have what is called a ‘B’ shape belly here? I was really hoping mine would be less obvious by now given how much smaller I am otherwise, but I suspect I will be like this no matter how thin I am!

i am also wondering if i potentially have very early lipedema on my thigh too. I have a pocket of fat on one outer thigh that is much larger than the other, and a significant dip under it where my thigh just gets much smaller. I’m really hoping that it is just stubborn fat but it doesn’t seem to have shrunk much 🥺🥺 it just feels more obvious now the rest of me is thinner!

I am a B shaped 👋

I have never heard it called that before or even thought that much about it before MJ. I have never seen so many overweight bodies, until now where I have been seeing the before and after pictures on facebook (all these uninhibited people showing their before and after in their pants! 😲) and I don't think I have seen any B shaped like me, all are D shaped!

It gives me the fear if (when!) I get to a healthy weight I will have both a top and bottom apron!

Darlinghag · 06/12/2024 18:13

@WeAllHaveWings its a fairly new term to me too, but makes sense! I also have an apron bottom half, although it has shrunk quite a bit.

i think it only came to my notice when i decided i wanted to try tucking tops in to wide legged bottom halves after a life time of desperately avoiding any chance of a visible outline of my apron belly! I always feel it looks rubbish due to the B shape - although with the right trousers now i am slimmer it works ok!

i have the fear as well, but decided that if i get to an ultimate goal weight, maintain it and do the right exercise and it still exists, i would look to have a surgery, but that is an awful long way off!

Thank you. I know they won't have mentioned it out of politeness as they're all so lovely. But I had prepared to fend off WLI talk if necessary, but it wasn't needed after all.

Darlinghag · 06/12/2024 19:44

@Snozzlemaid glad to hear it! I think its good to pay attention to to the subtle cues too. People often say oh you look lovely etc instead and thats nice! One person asked me if i got hair extensions the other week - i thi k it was because actually, with the weightloss, my hair sits differently and looks longer 😂😂

WafflingDreamer · 06/12/2024 21:17

I spoke to a colleague 6-8 weeks ago about wanting to lose weight I didn't mention MJ. I saw her for the first time today and she said I was looking trim. I've only just dropped below 20st so I'm not trim but it made my day!

Thanks, I will do some more digging

Arglefraster · 07/12/2024 00:11

I'm a B belly too - when pregnant (despite weighing 30kg less than now) I still had a B over my bump. Are you both hourglass shape? I'm hourglass both directions but it's only flattering from the front!

Also on the people not commenting front - they are probably noticing but far too polite to say anything💐
I'm desperately hoping people are like that with me when I actually lose enough to be noticed as people saying anything is something that usually knocks me right off the wagon as I just hear "omg I noticed you've always been horrifically fat"

alltablenochairs · 07/12/2024 00:11

If I didn't have a spinal curvature (kypholordosis- I have a spine shaped like the letter S) then I would probably have a b shaped body. As it is I have a an apron and if I'm standing up I generally look like I'm about 7 months pregnant.

The only person who has said anything to me is my closest friend who knows what I'm doing. Her exact words were 'you've shrunk'. Apart from her and DH I have no plans to discuss anything with anyone. Really persistent nosy buggers will get told my private medical information is exactly that- private. I'll probably get asked a few questions at the family wedding next June but I already have an idea for that as well.

peonym · 07/12/2024 07:45

Hi everyone. Just catching up after a city break and then not wanting to face reality for a few days!

This week I dropped 2lbs, which I'm really pleased with. I however have had a lot on since weigh in and know this coming week's weigh in will not be so kind.

The suppression on 7,5 is still brilliant for the first 3-4 days and then tails off a bit which I don't mind as it gets me practising for when I come off MJ entirely. I've no nausea or unpleasant side effects.

How is everyone planning to tackle Christmas? I'm going to continue as is, not moving up just in case and hoping that that's enough to see me through. I want to make good choices but also do want to give myself a bit of slack so I can buckle down a bit more in January.

For Christmas I will be dosing as usual, it's a dinner and an extra night out (works do). Been ok with alcohol on the few nights out I've had since MJ. Might leave some room for a mince pie on Xmas day, as haven't had one yet (usually one or two a day as soon as the shops start stacking them up in the isles) x

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 07/12/2024 08:07

Yep, doses as usual over Christmas. It’s the only way to train my brain not to see celebrations as binge-opportunities.

Morning all. Weigh day. Eight weeks on 2.5mg and my first 5mg today. I have lost 20 lbs so far so nice and steady. No huge side effects part from pooing every other day instead of every day but we will see what 5mg brings. The absolute joy of not thinking about food every second is amazing.

Christmas is at my DD's and she is onboard with my weight loss efforts. I did discover mini Vienettas on sticks at Iceland for 80 calories a pop so they will be my treat. Happy holidays one and all
