Bloody hell these threads move fast!

@SunQueen24 Yes! Always cold. Usually I am sweating my tits off so this is a nice change.

@ChimneyRock Well done you! It’s not that bad is it?! I can’t believe you can’t feel the needle!

@LumionaMoonsplash Congratulations! That’s amazing!

@TheAmazingShrinkingWoman Your username is apt lol! Well done that’s great.

@OrlandointheWilderness Welcome aboard! How did you find the injection? I was sooo nervous. Amazing how it quickly turns off the need for sugar! Point taken about the ham sandwich; I’ll avoid lol!

@ChimneyRock Everyone is different but for me it’s within 12hrs. I’m sure if you have more to lose then you will lose a lot initially. I started at 16st 2.7 BMI 37.7 and lost 6.5lbs in my first week.

I’m doing ok! Not eating a whole lot because I just don’t care to be honest. I know it’s not good. I’ve been having more protein as I really don’t want my hair to fall out. The thought of food is just so gross to me. Maybe I will have to stay on 2.5 🤷‍♀️

SunQueen24 · 25/10/2024 10:22

Is anyone else really cold? I am freezing, Google says this is a possible side effect.

I was frozen for the first 3 weeks, it’s my 4th week now and it’s worn off.

RunSlowTalkFast · 25/10/2024 13:46

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 13:00

Remind me how long it takes to kick in? Or is it different for different people?

For some people it's a few hours, whereas I'm 4 weeks in and nothing yet so it definitely varies 😄

OrlandointheWilderness · 25/10/2024 13:53

@HansHolbein oh it doesn't fuss me - I'm a nurse so it's pretty normal!

killamounjaro · 25/10/2024 13:58

@Wildywondrous You can use the bonus dose one of two ways, either doing a hard twist, i.e. once you have done jab 4, apparently you can twist again (some use pliers to do it) and it will allow you to go round to 1 again so you can get that last 2.5 dose out. Obvioulsy you either need a 5th screw on needle or i think some re-use the 4th needle but are meticulous with wiping down all of it with alcohol wipes. Alternatively you can use an insulin needle to get the remainder out (pushing the needle through the red bung at the end of the pen and drawing it out) I have ordered some needles for this reason as it seems silly to waste what looks like is often a full dose (sometimes more)
There are a couple of good threads with this info in more detail. Do a search on Continuing Mounjaro or Bonus Dose in this topic and you will find a lot more experienced voices on the best way to go about it.

killamounjaro · 25/10/2024 14:05

W3 day 2 for me. I am around 7lbs down so I am very happy.

However I am really unsure if i have done the right thing in ordering a 5mg pen for the next one. Originally i thought to stay on 2.5mg but was concerned suppression was wearing off towards the end of each of the 2 weeks done so far. I did the 3rd jab on Wednesday and although my side effects are not as bad as i had for week 1, once again I am feeling so ropey today. Really achey lower back and around my neck, incredibly tired and so bloody cold!

Obviously i still have one official dose left in this pen, plus i intend to take the bonus dose, which will hopefully continue some kind of acclimatisation to the drug.

I guess if worse case is i am still struggling with side effects I could just use the 5mg pen to take 2.5ml and if i feel suppression is wearing off by day 6 i can take it a day early each week, and maybe step up to 3.75 if the side effects are lesser towards the end of the month. Be a shame to waste any but I am so worried to step up and feel like I did after the very first jab!

SunQueen24 · 25/10/2024 14:32

@killamounjaro I want to use as little of the drug as possible to get the advice and think we should each look at the therapeutic benefit of the dose we’re on.

If it’s not broke don’t fix it IMO.

autumn1610 · 25/10/2024 14:58

@killamounjaro If you’re finding 2.5 working I would stick to 2.5mg. I was really hoping I would feel and notice an effect at this dosage and keep on it as long as possible, the less your taking the better in my opinion as long as it’s working for you. Just because you can go up i don’t necessarily think you should. I’m only going up as I have had no effects from it at all, no appetite suppression at all, no side effects

Corliss98 · 25/10/2024 15:38

I was wondering the same thing. I’m on my first dose of 2.5mg. Minimal side effects except for being cold and food suppression has been good except it’s wearing off around Thursday (I jab on a Saturday). So I’m unsure whether to stick with 2.5mg or move up to 5mg.

PickleSarnie · 25/10/2024 15:52

Thanks for the shiny new thread!

Hope all doing well.

We are on holiday at the moment. There has been loads of bags of snacks, several boxes of heroes consumed and multiple bacon rolls. And, somehow, I've manged to entirely abstain. Would like to say it's been effortless but it's been really hard. Normally holidays I eat and drink constantly so it's been really strange not to. But only being a fortnight into MJ I really wanted to not fall off the wagon so soon!

W4 day 3 5ft 3
SW 80kg BMI 30.5
CW 77kg
New posting here, just wanted to share my experience, my TDEE is 1700 calories maintenance low activity day, with the high suppression of early days I was consuming around 1000-1200 cals a day, feeling exhausted, dizzy, cold for weeks, now increased to 1300 last few days with more water intake including mineral, finally feeling a bit normal.

Today I checked my blood pressure, its gone from around 135-145/82-92 pre MJ to 93-107/67-77, I measured around 4 times using a cuff due to worry of it being so low..has anyone else experienced the low BP? No wonder I'm feeling dizzy!

As someone who is of an ethnicity with higher risk of heart conditions and diabetes, some prescribers state a starting BMI of 27.5 is acceptable for starting MJ so I have a long way to go for a recommended normal BMI.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 25/10/2024 16:55

Ahh! I typed out a long post and it’s been hidden as I used the word gum with an ‘ies’ at the end, just found out that word gets automatically hidden. Hopefully it’ll be revealed later… they were only for hair and nails, nothing dodgy 😂

You should stay on it for the month as it is needed for your body to get used to it to minimise side effects. I've taken my 4th jab of 2.5mg and last week I was starving after 5 days as it was wearing off, so injected the 4th jab 6 days later. Its back to suppressing for me, only side effects are due to my restrictive diet I believe. I lost 3kg in 2.5 weeks on 2.5mg so see how it goes for you 😊

MustLoveCats · 25/10/2024 17:07

@killamounjaro
Thank you that is very helpful

Iwouldratherbesinging · 25/10/2024 17:26

There is an app called Shotsy, I use the free version to see how much MJ I have in my system, it’s really hand to see how it builds up and drops, especially for some of you who are struggling to ‘find’ the suppression.
when you compare the weeks you can see how it builds up.

I’m officially overweight! Just tipped down to 29.9 this morning.

im really pleased with the injections. I’ve just had my third. While I do get hungry, and can easily eat my 3 meals, I’ve so much more self control and don’t have the cravings. So I am able to make really good food choices.

SW 90kg
CW 84.5kg
GW 72-74kgs.

Why on earth can we not say that word??

PepsiMaxandPringleStacks · 25/10/2024 17:40

Back for thread 3.

My MJ is really MJing today, I felt a bit nauseous after eating a small sweet treat in work today, the first sweet treat I've had in a while!!

Should tide me over until Christmas now Grin

How is everyone getting on?

I've just taken my 4th dose on Wednesday and have decided to move up to 5mg this week as it was wearing off by Saturday, so hoping 5mg will tide me over the whole week and I can stay on it for a good few pens!

Apparently it’s an automatic hide as they get a lot of spam mentioning that word…

ApolloandDaphne · 25/10/2024 17:46

So it's Friday. This is usually wine day for me. It will be interesting to see if I am still as keen.

Same! We've got a bottle of fizz chilling away and a red for later. I LOVE my wine, but I haven't fancied a glass since my first injection (okay, that was only on Wednesday Grin)

I'm probably going to try to have a bit and see how I feel. Seriously, if this thing can help me lose weight, quiet my ADHD mind AND help me drink less wine, I'm pledging my undying allegience!

Popping by to say hi and thanks for the new thread - will be back later.

End of Week One Weigh in.
Height 5’ 7”
SW 12.1lb
CW 11.7lb
GW 9:10
Weigh loss 8lb

As a 58 year old woman on HRT I am absolutely thrilled, though there are studies that say average weight loss is 30% more with injections if on HRT so explains it.
Even though I know it is mostly water weight I already feel better, plus lost an inch off my waist and hips. So now 43” hips and 35”waist.
Have eaten high protein all week, with no processed carbs.
Typical day, don’t normally start eating until midday.
Protein shake, half milk, half water with tablespoon of chia seeds.
3 eggs and home made spicy carrot and lentil soup..
Steak, salmon or chicken breast with roasted veg or salad.
Blueberries, strawberries or pineapple with Greek yogurt and more chia seeds.
Has stopped all my evening binging of crisps and chocolate, which is how I normally sabotage any weight lost.

Going to stick to 2.5mg, but will order a 5mg pen so it lasts longer.
intend to keep dose as low as I can for my whole weight loss journey.

recklessgran · 25/10/2024 18:50

@rockingbird in answer to your question, no, hardly any side effects in week one for me. I had almost instant suppression with a few burps on the first day [Friday]. After that I really struggled to eat over the weekend but loved the freedom from thinking about food and snacking all the time. The suppression was definitely wearing off by Tuesday evening so I had to be careful on Wednesday and yesterday but still not having cravings, just hungrier but able to make good choices if you see what I mean. Jab2 this morning and now I'm not bothered about eating anything. I've got a small poached salmon fillet so I'm going to eat that with some black pepper on it and a few cherry tomatoes. That will do for today. In terms of side effects during the week, I haven't been sleeping well but that's normal for me - I've been an insomniac for about five years now and use Nytol if I'm particularly knackered. Apart from that I woke up two nights running with acid reflux which settled quickly after I got up for an hour and had a cup of tea. I put that down to eating late which we are prone to here but I guess it's not a good idea given the MJ slows down stomach emptying. Lesson learned and eating by 7.00pm now. Otherwise no GI symptoms such as nausea, d or v thank God. Love this thread and reading everybodys doings - it's so reassuring to know we're all in this together.
