Got my 5 pen yesterday ready for Sunday. Now weighing up my options about getting the golden dose from my 2.5 pen and/or doing a 3.75 bridging dose 🤔

I think it is quite common to get 3.5 or so out of your bonus dose on a 2.5mg pen so worth it if it's in date. People either wing it and just use the pen however much they will get or they extract so they can measure how much they are getting

Oneeata · 25/10/2024 09:16

Morning all,
Well what can I say here I am 19 days in and I've lost a whopping 1 Stone exactly (got a long way to go yet). I've not had any side effects just yet although I'm prepared for them to come when I step up to 5mg. I'm due my 4th injection on Sunday and thinking of doubling the dose to use the remainder of my first pen to get the most from it.

I’m on week 1 day 5 suppression is still huge really struggling to eat over 500 cals a day. Wanted to dose a day early to get the first day out the way on the weekend while I’m off work. I had terrible side effects first day hence not wanting to feel like that in work. However I don’t think that’s wise now while my suppression is still so strong. I’m a little gutted as I was hoping to eat something naughty before my second dose kicked in 🤣 although I know I need to get out of that mind frame.

I'm interested in hearing people's strategies as it occurs to me that relying on suppression alone is not the answer. I really want to use the journey to incorporate a new way of eating for life and one that I could potentially use to come off MJ down the road. I know that eating intuitively doesn't work for me not does calorie counting as I can get obsessive with it. Also struggle to do it in the moment with 2 young kids. I think I need a structure to follow like 16:8 or 3 meals with whole foods, no snacking or something.

Yes, I'm also thinking about long-term changes. And I'm baffled how slim people live and shop for example. I have counted calories since I was a teenager (thank you Tumblr-induced insecurities...), so I know that I overeat but I can't figure out how other people don't overeat. Like, I tally up in my head what I see my husband eating and drinking and by all accounts, he should be overweight but isn't. I have cut out all the nice stuff from my life in the past decade and still can't just eat at my TDEE (vegetarian, no alcohol, no takeaways, no ultra processed food). Do slim people just balance things out intuitively? Like they have pints and burgers at the pub on Friday and then just eat very little Saturday? Why can't my body do that intuitively? Without MJ, I get shaky, dizzy and ice cold if I don't eat very regularly so in the above scenario, the Saturday would be torture for me and mean I couldn't drive for example.
Anyway, intuitive doesn't work for me. Calories clearly doesn't work because I can't stick to them long-term. Counting macros and cutting out carbs made no difference. Don't know what's left other than being medicated forever. I feel like for me the eating is psychological to a degree (food noise) but not eating every few hours has really strong physical effects for me. So it's not just about my relationship with food.

I've lost almost a stone in less than 2 weeks and that's because of two things - I'm no longer ravenous by lunchtime, so am able to make better lunch choices, and I'm not hungry in evenings (or craving sugar) so I've stopped snacking after dinner. I'm still eating decent sized portions of food for dinner but am probably eating 1000-1200 calories overall. This is amazing!

I am exactly the same. Starting meal planning more and good season for soups so let inclined to binge at lunch and absolutely no temptation for snacking after dinner. Sugar cravings are gone and if I am tempted, it's fruit not a family size pack on minstrels! I am trying to adopt these changes long term to create some good and lasting habits!

Well done everyone. Some brilliant losses so far.

Weigh day for me. 3lb down. Making it around 12lbs in 3 weeks. Although the scales haven’t budged since Tuesday (I really shouldn’t weigh every day)!

@YummyCookie Thank you for the new thread.…and well done on your loss!
weigh day for me, another 3.5lb off taking me to 11.5 in 4 weeks. I know not as dramatic as some but I’m very happy with that.

recklessgran · 25/10/2024 10:10

@YummyCookie exactly the same here - I'm also a daily [impatient!] weigher and my scales didn't shift after Tuesday either which coincided exactly with the suppression wearing off so I guess I must have just eaten more between then and now even though I didn't think I did.

Just getting ready for first Jan ever and in the instruction leaflet it says "needles not included!!!"
W.T.F???
Can anyone advise?

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 10:11

Was I meant to order them separately?

recklessgran · 25/10/2024 10:13

@ChimneyRock oh no! Where did you order from? Perhaps contact them and ask? I ordered from MedExpress and mine came complete with exactly the right amount of needles and swabs.

That's a bit rubbish! Where did you order from?

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 10:16

Oushk.
Well I might be wrong. Is it the little funnel shaped contraption with a paper tab?

Someone else had this, they were there.. maybe in a clear bag, or a small box. They don't look like needles, just small plastic lids type thing..

recklessgran · 25/10/2024 10:17

Ha! Yes that's it!

That's madness. Are you sure they weren't added separately in your box? I got the pack of medication, a pack with 4 needles and swabs and a sharps bin all in my package.

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 10:17

This?

Yes!

recklessgran · 25/10/2024 10:18

Take the tab off and screw it on to your pen! Have you got swabs to swab the red rubber end bit first?

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 10:19

Is it like an epipen and you just can't see the needle. But why does it say, "needles not included" then?

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 10:19

Yep. Have the swabs.

recklessgran · 25/10/2024 10:20

I guess because the needles don't come in the box with the pen and are supplied separately. Good luck!

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 10:20

On the pharmacy website there was an option to select needles but I assumed that meant if you wanted extra. That's partly why I'm doubting myself. That and the 'not included' message.

Mine were included from MedExpress - I presume your supplier wanted you to purchase them separately, how disappointing.
