Is anyone else really cold? I am freezing, Google says this is a possible side effect.

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 10:23

@SunQueen24 No I was wrong. They are here!

The mounjaro Bix says needles not included, but your supplier will send them with your box..

Happy jabbing..

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 10:17

This?

That's a needle, did you get 4? If not either contact your supplier or you can order needles, most people who want to get the bonus dose need to anyway. 5mm 32G needles (4Sure pen needles EasyMeds pharmacy deliver quickly)

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 10:33

DONE IT!!!
OMG.

I was worried that might be a side effect I would get, fluffy socks preventative measure has been taken. £7 for 5 pairs on Amazon.

Only took 2nd 2.5mg injection last night though and haven't had any side effects (or weightloss). Think suppression is mild so hoping 3rd & 4th dose I can aim for 1.5 doses.

OMG.

Well done! 👏

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 10:37

There were 5 needles in the pack actually.
I'm already analysing how I'm feeling, physically. Just need to forget about it and get on with my day.

rockingbird · 25/10/2024 10:41

Amazing @recklessgran!! Well done. Did you have any side effects?

SunQueen24 · 25/10/2024 10:43

@ChimneyRock well done!

Absolutely, try and busy yourself. I got so worked up I ended up needed the loo because of that rather than the meds 😂🫢

LumionaMoonsplash · 25/10/2024 11:22

W2D1. Suppression is well underway. Went shopping this morning and didn't want to buy anything for myself still spent £107 though.
Pleased to report a 5lb loss this week, but it's a bit of a cheat as my first weigh in was clothed and after a big KFC lunch, however a loss is good in my book.

I do have a hand ache which I have no idea where it has come from, don't know if it's a gym injury or rsi or the start of arthritis or just a sprain? I'm having a few days off the gym to help it recover and hope it clears up v soon.

KolaKoalaKan · 25/10/2024 11:23

@Oneeata @YummyCookie @Pegsmum - well done all on the weigh ins! And well done @ChimneyRock for your first jab! It gets easier!

@SunQueen24 Yes I've been feeing the cold. Really bizarre for me as I'm typically the complete opposite, usually very hot. I'm actually enjoying being cooler. I'm hoping it means my inflammation is coming down a bit. Is it bothering you?

@ThatVividCat and @flowerlady2 my breakfast bar recipe:

Whizz up about 200g mixed nuts (I do walnuts predominantly with some hazelnuts, almonds, and Brazil nuts) till quite fine. Mix with 100g steel cut oats and 150 mixed seeds (I use flax, chia, sunflower, sesame and pumpkin) and pop in the oven to toast for 10 minutes at about 150C.

Meanwhile melt together 100g butter, 75g light muscovado and a really good squeeze of honey. I think I probably use about 5-6 tbsps.

Mix your nutty seed mix with the melted butter concoction and a couple of teaspoons of cinnamon.

I then grease two muffin tins and divide the mixture across these so makes 24 'biscuits'. Push down to compact the mixture. You could just do it in a tin and cut up but I find this works well for me. Then bake at 150C for about half an hour until golden. Let them cool in the tin and then they flip out.

They last for ages. I have one each morning but my teens love them and so does DH so they don't last me 24 days!

hopeishere · 25/10/2024 11:30

I'm three jabs in. Sneaky weigh in today before official weigh in and fourth jab on Monday. I'm hungry today! Side effects this week were much better. Much less nausea.

EVK · 25/10/2024 11:45

@KolaKoalaKan
That makes sense - you definitely don’t need to feel bad about getting NHS prescription! Im
glad you’re getting what you need to be well. I also have a daughter in her first year at uni - she’s struggling a bit which is hard. You go away and have a lovely time with your son and try to be in the moment - let the food be a secondary thing - eat slow, listen to your body and just go for small portions or starters ? Say you’ve had a big or something and you’re not feeling that hungry if he doesn’t know. You can still enjoy treating him and catching up. 🩷

SunQueen24 · 25/10/2024 11:51

Dont want to make the thread political but I am delighted that people that need this can access it on the NHS @KolaKoalaKan

EVK · 25/10/2024 11:52

@ChimneyRock
i was like that for the first couple
if weeks! Totally overthinking it all and so paranoid about what I was doing to myself and putting into my body. Got really anxious at one point but I feel calmer about it now - thing is - what we’re doing is a big deal and I guess we are changing our biochemistry- there are side effects - some which can be serious so we need to mindful but also remember that the benefits for our our health are huge and this is a positive move! It’s a tricky one- how do the rest of you deal with these things?!!!

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 25/10/2024 11:56

Hi I'm back!

Accidentally posted in the wrong user name on the last thread, spent ages trying to get it changed and then gave up!

Injection 4 due today - have lost 12.1 lb in 3 weeks. No change on scales this week but all good. Suppression much less but generally feeling full quicker. Excited to move up to 5 next week.

Well done everyone on some great losses!

Wildywondrous · 25/10/2024 11:59

Could someone explain about the 'bonus dose' please, I did join this thread 3 weeks ago but it's too busy for me to keep up with so I haven't been using it.

I've popped on to mention that after taking my 4th dose that there's a lot of liquid left and saw someone mention the bonus dose, is it a full 2.5mg left in the pen?

OrlandointheWilderness · 25/10/2024 12:18

Hiya! I did my first one last night. I'm 40, 5'8 and 21 stone 😮 😂.
Woke this morning and didn't want my normal sugary tea, then I've managed half a plain ham sandwich for lunch and I'm stuffed. What is this strange magic!?!?

KolaKoalaKan · 25/10/2024 12:28

@EVK thank you! Sorry about your DD - it's such a huge transition. I hope she's settling now.

@SunQueen24 - yes this is true! But what I find a bit crazy is I've been saying for years (like 15) that I'm going to end up obese and diabetic if I don't get some help with my BED. Then I became diabetic and they just threw drugs at it. And again I kept saying - but I'm struggling to control the food, I need help with that or it's getting worse. Then weight loss jabs came along with their talk of suppressing food noise and so I said 'that could work' and they said I had to jump through all these other medication routes first. Meanwhile my health continued to deteriorate because I couldn't control the eating. So I've found it frustrating. I could have been put on this jab probably 5 years plus ago and it would ultimately cost the NHS less in the long run and had less impact on my health. So that's been frustrating. But I'm here and on it now and it's literally like my BED has switched off overnight. It's amazing. I'm hoping I can now get my health somewhat back.

OrlandointheWilderness · 25/10/2024 12:33

Ham sandwich was an error - I feel sick now 😂

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 13:00

Remind me how long it takes to kick in? Or is it different for different people?

ChimneyRock · 25/10/2024 13:05

I did my weigh-in this morning when I woke up (before the jab) and was 4lbs down on what I was on Sunday when I put in my application! The only difference is time of day. 🤷‍♀️
So, I am 5'8"
SW: 14s 7lbs
GW: 12s (although lower would be good)
I'm wondering if weekly losses are different according to how much you have to lose? So, someone who begins at 30 stone might see more losses on the scales than someone half that? Is that a fair assumption?

SunQueen24 · 25/10/2024 13:20

@KolaKoalaKan I think this is what is going to be problematic about how mounjaro is being prescribed. It would be better, surely, if people could access the drug before becoming obese if they have either used it before or recognise they are gaining weight. Ie if you get to a BMI of 23 and suddenly it’s cut off then I guess you’ll need to reach a BMI of 30 whereas if you could have had some intervention in the interim you’d need less input from the drug overall. Hope I’m making sense. I think this should be seen as a tool and not just a last resort.

Anyway I digress.

@ChimneyRock i think it differs. I took
mine yesterday and felt the suppression almost immediately. Today it’s very strong, I’ve had half a slice of toast but don’t feel like eating. Even though I’m constantly ruminating about food. Really strange and hoping I adjust. I don’t want to not be able to eat at all. Though I guess if it starts to wear off as the week goes on that’s not a bad thing and I should achieve some balance over the course of 7 days.
