Day 6 - still experiencing suppression, eating around or just below my BMR of 1400. I have dinner with a friend of Saturday so think I’m going to delay my jab until Sunday or Monday as whilst I don’t want to stuff my face I actually want to be able to eat a meal (I probably only get out every 4-6 weeks to eat).

I don’t see the point having another jab if I’m still maintaining a calorie deficit?

RunSlowTalkFast · 30/10/2024 11:45

I'm regularly reading these threads but not had much to add as I took my 4th jab at the weekend but still not noticed any suppression.

Taking the bonus dose this weekend, hoping I'll get a bit more than 2.5mg! Then I'll be swiftly moving up to 5mg!

The cheapest providers seem to have discount codes that are only for October so I I'm hoping there are some new deals for November! Don't want to buy it early as I'm keeping it a secret so I don't want to have to keep it in the fridge for a week!

RunSlowTalkFast · 30/10/2024 11:45

Weigh the same as when I started!

Hello, does anyone know how to use the golden dose, and which needles to order to extract and inject with? Thankyou

Mine are 5mm so i would say just search 5mm needles for insulin and make sure you order with a reputable company.

AlwaysReadyForABlether · 30/10/2024 12:07

@PickleSarnie i wasn’t expecting to notice such a big difference but it’s definitely much stronger. It is double the dose so I don’t know why I’m so surprised really!

envbeckyc · 30/10/2024 12:52

I am in week 3 of 2.5mg pen, but have the 5mg pen in the fridge ready to go, and my 4th injection is tomorrow!

My main side effect has been fatigue, feeling exhausted in the afternoon and evening, but it passes.

I am just planning to follow the recommended schedule for the injections, but in the safe knowledge that if the higher dose makes me feel under par, I have the option of reducing the dose slightly.

The 2.5 mg pen was the same price as the 5mg pen, so it seemed like a no brainier to order it.

Witchlite · 30/10/2024 13:01

16/10/24 201.6lbs goal is 140.0lbs or -61.6lbs
BMI 35.6

30/10/24 194.6lbs, goal is 140.0lbs or -54.6lbs
BMI 34.4

So exactly half a stone in half a month! I started seriously trying to loose weight in January when I hit 16 stone. I spent over 9 months without Mounjaro, struggling to loose 24lbs, but in half a month with it, I’ve managed 7lbs. Why didn’t I start earlier!

What really made my choice easier was:

  1. I have type 2 diabetes
  2. Without pills, I have high blood pressure.
  3. DM and 3 of her 5 siblings have died of Alzheimer’s in the last 2 years. It’s a bloody awful disease. There is research going on into whether the noted reduction in Alzheimer’s is a correlation (there is a link between Alzheimer’s and obesity and Type 2, so helping these will naturally help) or whether the effects to the brain of GL1 drugs help protect.

Does anyone else have reasons other than Obesity (weight loss is one of my reasons for use) to use Mounjaro?

Before anyone worries, I did discuss Mounjaro with my GP and all the downsides and benefits. She was about to refer me to a clinic to get it on the NHS, but I had got down to 35 BMI and they were currently only putting people with a BMI over 35 and type 2 forward.

Hello, does anyone know how to use the golden dose, and which needles to order to extract and inject with? Thankyou

There are two ways to get the 5th dose out of a pen.

You can break the mechanism that stops the pen twisting anymore by doing a hard twist - some use pliers to get a good grip on it.
If you do this, you can twist to get another full dose of 60 clicks. You will need a new needle, so if your provider has only given you 4, you will need to purchase some of these https://www.chemist-4-u.com/carepoint-pen-needles-31g-4mm-pack-of-100?gclid=Cj0KCQjwiYOxBhC5ARIsAIvdH51rLZBVFQxuvS7mDJooegtK8BMiyT0PwREMRHhH1atfQIo8TEbsmkaAkA0EALwwcB

Alternatively, you can use an insulin syringe to draw out the liquid and then inject the dose that way.
You can usually get a little more than a full dose this way.
These are the syringes I use for this https://www.shdmedical.co.uk/needles/bbraun-omnican-1ml-30g-syringe-individually-blister-packed/
They are 1ml syringes and a full dose from any MJ pen is 0.6ml.
I usually get somewhere between 0.65 and 0.7ml this way. So can be useful as a small step up if your moving up doses.
You insert the needle on the syringe through the red dot at the end of the pen and draw out the liquid this way.
These needles are longer but you don't have to stick them in your skin the whole way. And is not as scary as it first sounds.

I took my 4th injection on Saturday but wanted to ask if anyone else has suddenly felt horrendous? I've been having incredibly painful stabbing pains at the top of my abdomen. I thought it was because I've only been managing a predominantly liquid diet. I've tried to introduce some solids again and have had explosive diarrhoea. I desperately want to stay on the medication as it has been a god send for my blood sugars (T1D) and I have lost 16lbs so far. But I have 2 small children, work full time and am in the final few weeks of a masters degree and it is completely wiping me out at the moment. I'm only on 2.5mg.... please someone say it gets better?

I think I would speak to your GP not being able to eat and stabbing abdominal pain sounds like something you should get checked out in my opinion

I also think you need to speak to your doctor urgently. I don’t know what you mean by a liquid diet or what you’ve been consuming, but I strongly suspect that’s caused a major issue if you don’t eat solids and then reintroduce. You’re in a very low dose, it’s not even therapeutic but if you’ve been effectively starving yourself then I think you need to seek urgent help.

recklessgran · 30/10/2024 14:42

I'm sorry @Tigerlily08 I second what @WafflingDreamer says - it sounds as though you need medical assistance urgently. I most definitely wouldn't be injecting again before you get help. I've felt extremely ropey on 2.5mgs but no GI symptoms like you describe and certainly no pain. Please get help. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Tigerlily08 · 30/10/2024 14:46

Thank you all. I have a review with my GP on Monday so I was waiting for that. To clarify I have been having Huel for breakfast and lunch which are nutritionally complete and I have been having around 1200 calories a day. I've had some normal dinners but often fancy soup instead so that's what I mean by liquid. I've felt fine up until the last injection. I never know what is a side effect of MJ or what is a nursery plague from my 2 littles. I spoke to 111 yesterday morning when the pain started and they suggested I speak to a pharmacist within the next few days so didn't seem worried at all. I think I'll try the GP and see if I can have the review sooner than Monday.

Hi all, can I ask a personal question?
Has Mounjaro affected your periods at all or have they continued to be regular.

Mines come this week as normal.

Mounjarjar · 30/10/2024 15:54

Third injection done! Hoping for another good loss this week. [must, must, MUST drink more water!!!]

SunQueen24 · 30/10/2024 15:58

@Mounjarjar i find it really helpful to have a 1ltr bottle. I drink so much more with a bottle on my desk.

Mine was exactly the same. Possibly a day early and definitely had less PMS on the run up to it - normally I'm really tearful and snappy but nothing at all this month. Have only been on it a month though.

I’m six days late. But not panicking yet - I’d read that it can affect them. I’m waiting for some peri-menopause bloods so hoping it arrives soon (or waits until I’m back from the weekend away I’ve got planned!)

IchiNiSanShiGo · 30/10/2024 16:33

Do people find it best to inject in the morning or the evening?

Now I think of it, Iv had less PMS too. I normally get a bit snappy too, nothing outrageous but shorter fuse and this time nothing. Didn’t even realise.

UtterlyQuackers · 30/10/2024 17:16

Well I have officially joined the thread.

I didn't manage to wait until Friday!

Fingers crossed for a smooth ride!

HansHolbein · 30/10/2024 17:16

@Mounjarjar Yay! How are you feeling? Is it going well? Yes! More water! I drink about 2-3L a day and feel so much better for it. Especially my skin! I’ve not had any constipation either and I put it down to how much I drink.

@IchiNiSanShiGo First injection I did it in the evening, so I could sleep through any side effects. The last two times I have done it in the morning and it’s been fine. It’s totally up to you.
