@PolaDeVeboise - could you buy an insulin syringe and needle in the meantime to extract a dose?

That sounds like a scary prospect. Besides a) chemists probably closed now, and b) would ME replace it if tampered with?

thekewgirl · 29/10/2024 20:53

I sent an email - If you look on their website you can email a question. I then called - 0208 123 0508. At least I think that's the number. I kept the original one as they didn't want it back and I ordered syringes from Amazon - next day - and used that one then my replacement pen Smile. So I got 2 for the price of 1

EdgyPeachPoet · 29/10/2024 21:09

Fizzleaway1 · 27/10/2024 21:47

That’s terrible. They knew it would be out of date before you could finish it. I’d keep emailing them and don’t let them fob you off.

@Fizzleaway1 thanks for encouraging me to keep emailing them. Update on my Superdrug saga - several emails later, they will refund ~£50 for the fourth dose, which is scheduled for after the pen has expired, so can’t use.
Now back to square 1 to find another supplier quickly as next dose due Sunday! At least I know the next supplier will be significantly cheaper than the £215 they charged me 😊

UtterlyQuackers · 29/10/2024 21:16

My first pen arrives tomorrow! Very excited/nervous.

I really want to start tomorrow as I am sick of being fat but at the same time I am worried about the side effects. I don't work weekends so it would seem sensible to wait until Friday!

But I don't want to wait!!

HappyPoster · 29/10/2024 21:38

@utterlyquackers

Mine arrived today and I'm wondering the same thing. Do I bite the bullet and go for it tonight or wait.

Does anyone have any recommendations for best days to take your injection?

A. To avoid side effects impacting work
And
B. To get optimal suppression for over the weekend

rockingbird · 29/10/2024 21:47

Just do it, I sat on mine for a week.. waited and waited. 🙈 that said I'm on day two of not being able to eat!!

recklessgran · 29/10/2024 21:50

@UtterlyQuackers and @HappyPoster I did mine on Friday morning and ate virtually nothing until Monday due to total suppression. I just think it's so unpredictable as everyone seems to react differently and some people have no suppression or side effects at all. It's a wonder drug though in my opinion whichever way you look at it. Good luck!

Re A, I'd suggest making sure you eat something at regular intervals, it doesn't have to be much. First jab Saturday and I've since had a few issues with nausea/lightheadedness which I think was down to me having too little food in my system (old intermittent-fasting habits die hard 😄) as things seem to have levelled out now I'm eating more regularly.

HappyPoster · 29/10/2024 22:13

Thanks @rockingbird @recklessgran and @ruethewhirl.

Going to start tomorrow after I finish work. Thanks for the great advice x

What are everyone’s thoughts on ordering their next dose? Are you sticking with 2.5 or moving to 5mg?

I’ve lost 11.2lbs so far, no side effects, and it’s working well. Maybe I should stay on 2.5?

I’ve stuck with 2.5mg - I’m on week 4 D3 and feel much better now, the sleep issues aren’t nearly so terrible and nausea has basically gone. I’m still not over eating or binging on sweet things or feeling like drinking alcohol but I can eat and do feel hungry at the right times - hunger is easily ignored but I eat smaller portions of healthy food and feel Completely satisfied after my meals. I don’t feel I have massive suppression anymore but I’m sort of happy about that because I can enjoy some of the food I eat more normally. So, for me I just felt why put more into my body when this is working and if I can keep this up on 2.5mg ill be really happy as won’t be so paranoid about what I’m taking!! I also think if I can do it on this dose then hopefully when I stop taking it I won’t miss the support of MJ too
much (wishful thinking probably but I have to come off it at some point - it’s so expensive!) I’ve lost 11lbs so far and that’s amazing for me in such a short time. I was 11.4 now 10. 6. My GW is about 8.8. (I’m 5.2) So got a way to go yet but hopefully 4 -5 months should do it?!! Not sure what to do about Christmas! Stay on it I guess and avoid the Christmas binging which I usually love but end up putting on 7lbs in about two days!!

Fasting habits do die hard but not great when in MJ - I’m with you on eating smaller but regularly to keep lightheartedness and a pat bay.

Squirrellover2 · 29/10/2024 17:23

@Fizzleaway1 What is the difference between the 2 sizes? Can you feel one more than the other? I have never bought any before.

It’s the length of the needle. 6mm is shorter than 8mm.
The needles that come with my pen are 5mm for example.

Iloveewanthesheep · 30/10/2024 05:50

@HansHolbein and @EVK I'm also in similar where I need to order my next pen. Ive had mild suppression and finding it much easier to make better choices on 2.5mg (on my 3rd week now) and only mild side effects (mild nausea/headaches which go when I drink more) so I'm torn because I guess 5mg might bring much higher suppression but then equally the 2.5mg is probably going to help in the long run of learning how to make better choices without full suppression. But I'm worried I'll get half way through the next month and regret not going up to 5mg!

rockingbird · 30/10/2024 06:20

I have also been thinking the same @Iloveewanthesheep the nausea is pretty strong for me (wk1d5) I held off for over a week because I was fearful of the side effects and now I'm able to re-order I'm thinking about if I should just stay at 2.5mg or will this sickness feeling calm down a little by wk 4 and I'd be able to handle the 5mg dose. That said I would like to use minimal amounts and work hard to maintain good food choices whilst losing weight.

BleachedJumper · 30/10/2024 06:22

Hi all, I hope you don’t mind me joining! I took my first shot yesterday. Thank you to everyone who’s contributed to the thread already, I’ve spent most of the evening scouring through everyone’s posts and it’s been really interesting and exciting to hear your successes.

Can I ask for those of you who have ordered your 2nd pen, particularly with medexpress, did you submit new photos and weight for the follow up pen? I’m just thinking ahead, I found sending the photos across quite uncomfortable for some reason and I’d like to mentally prepare for it!

Loujab · 30/10/2024 06:23

I don't know if anyone uses medexpress and has price matched? But it was so easy. I took a screen shot of another provider and sent to them on message. They replied within one hour to say my account had been credited with the difference. I assume I could do this every month?

littleburn · 30/10/2024 06:34

@Loujab ooh, I'm with medexpress so that's good to know!

@HansHolbein @Iloveewanthesheep I had the same dilemma as I had good suppression on 2.5, albeit it'd wear off slightly by day 6. I went for the 5 pen in the end as it costs the same and gives you the option of flexing the dose, which you wouldn't get with a 2.5. Although, as I mentioned, I'm now finding the 3.75 bridging dose too much!

littleburn · 30/10/2024 06:39

@BleachedJumper photos are just for the first prescription. When you reorder you do refill in the survey with your weight and height etc, but it then links back to your account and original order.

You will usually only need to send photos if you order from a different pharmacy.

As someone who has been on this for a few months now, you will be glad of those photos later when you have lost lots of weight. They're great to use for comparisons.

BleachedJumper · 30/10/2024 07:23

Thank you for the information @littleburn and @Snozzlemaid, I’ve always been one of those who struggle with pictures! I noticed on the iPhone I can have a ‘hidden’ folder of pictures, so they won’t end up in my general albums, I might take some sporadic progress pictures and put them in there.

recklessgran · 30/10/2024 07:33

I'm with Medexpress and as the 2.5mg and 5mg pens cost the same I've decided to order the 5mg pen after all as then I'll have the flexibility to count clicks and administer the dose that I think will be right for me as the weeks progress. If it comes to it and I end up staying on 2.5mgs for the whole of next month then although I'd end up with a half used 5mg pen it won't have cost me any more. I am only on W2 D6 and really struggled over the weekend with side effects. They were much worse than W1 so I'm assuming that was due to the half life cumulative effect. I can't see how I can predict what will happen in that regard over the next two weeks or indeed the following 4. All I know is that I was non-functioning for the entire weekend and spent a lot of it in bed. The dilemma is that if I suddenly settle down then 6 weeks is a long time to wait to up the dose beyond the current 2.5mgs if it's needed.
Added to all this, I'm going on an AI holiday with DH a week tomorrow and really need to be on form. I'm going to try a half dose [30 clicks] on Friday [my wk3] to see if I have a better weekend. My rationale is that this will be better than skipping altogether to avoid side effects from spoiling the holiday. If that works I will do the same next week before we leave, enjoy my holiday and go back to 2.5mgs as soon as we get back. I realise this is controversial but I rationally can't see that it will cause me any harm.

Mounjarjar · 30/10/2024 07:36

Weighed this morning - 2lb down, which is half a stone in 2 weeks.

Absolutely incredible to say I was only just eligible due to BMI. Now ‘overweight’ and looking forward to seeing the numbers drop into the healthy weight range in the next weeks and months!

NearlyNewHip · 30/10/2024 07:51

Well done on your loss @Mounjarjar !!!
I've just ordered my second pen and have used the same reasoning as @recklessgran , same price, can count clicks if needed, so went for the 5mg one. Doing well on 2.5mg, no major side effects, low level nausea the day after jabbing and some trapped wind and bloating (but that could be because I'm also introducing different more healthy foods). Suppression is ok, can stick to my 1400 cals per day without struggling either way. Have lost 8 lbs so far and third weigh in is Saturday morning (jab on a Friday night) x
