Hi nice to find this tread I've been on mounjaro for just over month and I've lost 2st 8lbs no side effects working out well just about to start 5mg

If you have lost 36lbs in a month (is that a typo as that seems a huge amount?) on 2.5mg why are you going up to 5mg? What do you hope 5mg is going to do for you that 2.5mg isn't?

nat8877 · 29/10/2024 10:54

I have a lot to lose I was 24st 11lbs when I started now I am 22st 6lb the suppression has been really good and have had no food noise at start now I have started to feel more hungry and food noise is creeping back so will be moving up to the 5mg as recommended

Gilly1C · 29/10/2024 10:29

So forgive me anyone if I have this wrong but 60 clicks is a full dose so 45 clicks would be 75% of the 5mg. Still 5mg just less volume. I have read blogs where they say it's 3.75mg but it's not 😂😂the dosage is the same just the volume is less. I seem to have morphed into carol vordeman because of MJ

No, that’s like saying I took half a tablet and got the full dose. You didn’t. You got half a dose. The active ingredient is suspended in the fluid, you need to take the full dose to get five mg. If you take less you get less active ingredient.

thijk about it logically, if half a dose gave you five mg, why would you need to take anything more than a few clicks. Same as tablets, why don’t we just cut them into quarters and take a quarter.

So I have a bottle of 80% proof vodka, you have a half pint of it and I have a shot. We both get 80% proof vodka just you took more of it and your effects will be increased more than mine. It's the volume that's less

Choux · 29/10/2024 11:09

@nat8877 well done! That's over 10% of your body weight lost in about a month. Which is a pretty fast loss.

Are you taking any vitamins and supplements as generally fast weight loss can lead to hair loss, fatigue, nutrition deficiencies etc. I don't know if that's more or less likely if you have a higher or lower starting weight but several people on the board talk about having hair loss and crushing fatigue. Are you getting any support from your GP or supplier or have they just sent you the meds and that's it?

I hope 5mg continues to give you great results with no side effects.

Although I could be thinking of it completely wrong which is quite possible😂

AllstarFacilier · 29/10/2024 11:17

Are people managing to cut calories and exercise still? I’ve worked out how many cals I need to have to be in a 500 cal deficit after working out the TDEE, and it’s 1450 which seems low to also exercise on. When I put my workout into my apps, my fitness pal gives me more eating cals because I’ve exercised - would I still use these or not?

A full dose = 5mg of active ingredient in 'X' ml of liquid
a half dose = 2.5mg of active ingredient in 1/2 'X' ml of liquid

A vodka analogy would be comparing a 40% abv and 80% abv strength bottle.

A 50ml shot of 40% abv is the same amount of alcohol as a 25ml shot of 80% abv.

Thanks for that, you you think doing 45 clicks would be useful to bridge to the 5 or not, in your opinion? I have the fear about nausea

I'm really not sure about that. I'm a newbie - only took my 2nd dose on Sunday!

What are everyone’s thoughts on ordering their next dose? Are you sticking with 2.5 or moving to 5mg?

I’ve lost 11.2lbs so far, no side effects, and it’s working well. Maybe I should stay on 2.5?

SunQueen24 · 29/10/2024 11:46

@HansHolbein i intend to remain on the lowest dose possible whilst I’m still responding well.

Mincepieinthesky · 29/10/2024 11:48

@HansHolbein I’m W2D5 and currently 11lbs down. I’ve started feeling hunger today for the first time but still no food noise or urge to binge, for me this is the best of both so I’ll be staying on 2.5 for as long as possible.

HansHolbein · 29/10/2024 11:48

@SunQueen24 I’m glad you’re thinking the same. There’s no point in going up is there whilst it’s working for us?

We’ll know soon enough into our second month whether we should go up again. I just don’t want to push it with side effects!

HansHolbein · 29/10/2024 11:49

@Mincepieinthesky Ah, that’s great! I have been thinking about mince pies 😋 no way I could eat one, though! Even if I wanted to!

It’s working so well for me so I’m not changing it!

recklessgran · 29/10/2024 11:52

@HansHolbein as per mine of yesterday I'm definitely staying on 2.5mgs for my second pen in fact on Friday I'm trying 1.25mgs to see if it stops the side effects which I'm struggling to cope with in normal life. However, I'm in this for the journey and not too concerned about rushing to the final destination if you see what I mean. So, I guess it depends on how you're coping on 2.5mgs and how bothered you think you'd be if your weight loss stalled for the next month. I think some people get the 5mg and do a 3.75mgs dose as a bridge - that's something else to consider?

I’m continuing my usual routine. I do a bootcamp twice a week at my gym - one session focussed on strength and higher weights and the other is more of a HIIT session with lower weights. They absolutely kill me 😅. I have quite a desk based job so on the 3 days a week I do nursery pick up I have started walking there and back instead of driving. I also run once a week - my aim is to get my passion for running back. Pre-baby (DS is now 2) I ran half marathons and loved having a focus and a goal. Now I can’t even do 5k without dying and the pain in my knees and joints is all down to my weight. I’m keeping up running once a week (when I say running it’s very intermittent jogging!) and hoping as more weight comes off I’ll be able to go longer and faster and not hate it as much because it won’t hurt 😂

Same here re running. Haven’t done any in 10 years but used to run marathons. I’d love to get out there again, not to run a marathon but perhaps a 10K. As you will know it’s not just (or even) the event itself but the focus and motivation it gives you to get out there. I’m already looking at 10Ks taking place next year (perhaps autumn 25) to see if it’s a real possibility. It could be an incredible motivator through MJ.

I'm sure you already know about it but the NHS C25K (couch to 5K) app is great. It takes you through 9 weeks of prep (3runs a week) to get to 5K. It starts off really gradually with run-walks. The version of the app with music is fantastic. I didn’t succeed in finishing it last time I tried, a couple of years ago, but it’s my target for 2025. Good luck!

SunQueen24 · 29/10/2024 11:56

@HansHolbein no, exactly and I’m trying to use this as a tool to assist rather than going hard. We don’t know the long term effects of these meds and so IMO the lower the dose you can tolerate the better.

SunQueen24 · 29/10/2024 11:57

@AllstarFacilier I’m sticking to my normal gym routine. I did do a HIIT class yesterday though and my HR hit 215 on a couple of occasions - Im wondering if that’s a side effect of the MJ.

TheBoldHelper · 29/10/2024 12:15

Nsv for me again, doc checked my blood pressure and it’s well within the healthy range, still medicated obvs but it was sky high before and we were looking at upping the meds again at this check, it’s dropped ten plus points for both measures, in less than three weeks on this medicine. I’m absolutely delighted.

I was deliberating over this today. I was eligible to re-order today and I am W2D5. I am doing well on 2.5 and lost 11lbs as of today. But.....if suppression goes down for me I will be kicking myself for not ordering the 5mg. So I decided to order the 5mg with the idea if 2.5 is still working I will just do half does and stay on 2.5.

Loujab · 29/10/2024 12:19

But I can also go up to 3.75 or even 5 if I wanted/needed to.

ApolloandDaphne · 29/10/2024 12:21

I think I will go to 5 for my next pen then see how i do on that.

ItsMintUpNorth · 29/10/2024 12:35

@Loujab this is exactly what I'm going to do when I re-order on Thursday, i would rather spend a bit more/waste some of a 5mg pen than get a 2.5 and start struggling part way through. If the appetite suppression was still as strong as week 1 I would consider staying on 2.5 but whilst it's still there I'm definitely finding it harder now I'm in week, also the food noise has never disappeared for me and I would quite like that to happen at some point!
