@EVK - how much was Asda?
I paid £98 for my first pen and £110.82 for my second

£180!!!!!!

mjuser · 27/10/2024 20:00

Oh bloody hell, I've just made a right mess of the bonus dose. The hard twist was really hard, it seemed to "break" about three times and then I clicked it round to 1, but when I plunged the plunger, it wouldn't go all the way down. Think I've only had 70 or 80 per cent of a dose. Ugh!

Anyone else done it? Was it easier for you? I'm thinking I'm going to have to do insulin needles for the bonus on my next pen 😒

My bonus dose went exactly the same although I think I only got about 40%. Bloody nightmare

SunQueen24 · 27/10/2024 20:05

@TheChosenTwo I did the same when priming it - sprayed a load of medicine across the desk!

Squirrellover2 · 27/10/2024 20:11

Can you buy the insulin needles from the chemist without a prescription? If not where do you get them and what size. Thanks.

recklessgran · 27/10/2024 20:14

I think I'm being a bit thick here but please can someone clarify this? I've got some insulin needles [linked on a previous thread] ready to extract the bonus dose. So is it just a case of sticking it through the red bit at the bottom of the pen to get the leftovers out? Then do you use that same needle to inject yourself - is that right? Also how do I know how much I'm getting i.e. what dose?

Yes. Pull the plunger on the syringe back a bit and inject a bit of air in the pen. It makes it easier to draw out every last drop. Then pull back the syringe plunger to get the drug into the syringe. Get as much as you can. Don't worry if you get some air as well.

Then hold the pen with needle tip in the air so all the air in the pen is at the top. If there are air bubbles in the liquid tap the syringe to get them to move up the syringe.

Then - still with the tip in the air- slowly push the plunger down so the air is forced out and you only have liquid left in the syringe. Read how much liquid you have so you know the dose.

Then inject it into your thigh or stomach. The needles are a tiny tiny bit wider than the pen needles but don't hurt.

recklessgran · 27/10/2024 20:27

@Choux thank you so much I get it now but how do I know what dose I've got out?

letshavetea · 27/10/2024 20:31

i bought my insulin syringes and needles (come as one sterile unit). 20 in a pack. Make sure you get medical grade. Got mine from Amazon.
Yes you extract from the red seal on the pen. I use an alcohol swab first.
No the injection doesn’t hurt.
I must say I’m only saying what I did. I feel comfortable with it, but it’s up to everyone else to only do what they’re happy with.
I just didn’t want the hassle of breaking the pen and potentially having problems with the process.

recklessgran · 27/10/2024 20:27

Do your syringes have markings on them? 0.6ml is a full dose. If you get 0.8ml out then that's 1.33 full doses so 3.3mg.

Nats060816 · 27/10/2024 20:34

Can anyone tell me if they’ve been refused for any reason after ordering from med express. Thanks in advance

People have been refused because they don't meet the BMI criteria or have some other health condition that makes Mounjaro unsuitable for them. Are you concerned about anything in particular?

You don’t need a prescription.

I bought 8mm needles but you can get 6mm if you want.

I’ve just done the bonus dose with the syringe. Easy enough to do. I got 0.7ml out, which I worked out to be 2.9mg. I felt that was a good bridge before the 5mg next week. The kids are off this week so want to still be able to bear some food if we are out and about.

I think that would only happen if your doctor stepped in. Otherwise you should be waved through, don’t worry,

£180!!!!!!

OMG!! I would defo switch now if you are thinking of it while you are at the beginning of your journey instead of later down the line when it might be harder if you have a lower BMI.

EdgyPeachPoet · 27/10/2024 21:20

I paid £215 at Superdrug for my first pen. They supplied a very short dated pen. My fourth dose will be a few days after the expiry date. Have contacted them several times and they keep fobbing me off 🥹

namechange1986 · 27/10/2024 21:22

Does anyone know which providers allow you to transfer a prescription over? I'm with Voy and just started the 5mg pen. I paid £220, so really want to go with someone cheaper for next one.

I think they all allow you to transfer over. You can chop and change (unless you sign up to a subscription service).

My first pen was £98 delivered from The slimming clinic and my second was £110.82 from IQ Doctor for the 5mg pen (with code) delivered. All I had to do was show proof that I’d previously ordered the a pen, some pictures, ID.
Ordered on a Monday and it was delivered the next day.

il be switching every dose to get the best price.

That’s terrible! Can you take it into a store? It’s unacceptable.

SunQueen24 · 27/10/2024 21:33

Superdrug must not be prescribing very much if it’s near its date!

namechange1986 · 27/10/2024 21:36

@Fizzleaway1 Wow!!! I think I paid about £180 for first pen and then the £220 for second. Really should have shopped around. Won't make that mistake again.

Thanks @Fizzleaway1 My local store doesn’t provide weight loss services so can’t help. Unfortunately the only way I can contact them is via email. The telephone contact centre is only for bookings 😏 They responded back to my first email notifying me that they will investigate but it may take 28 days for a response! I’m still waiting…but can’t help thinking it’s not as effective as it could be had the medicine been in date as very little suppression compared to others on the thread.

I just looked on that comparing website that’s been linked on this forum a few times

monj.co.uk

I had a friend who already used the slimming clinic so I knew of them before all of this but I did a post asking how people got on with IQ Doctor and only heard good things so I thought I’d give them a go as it was a good price.

The only thing neither of mine included was any type of support, online chats or telephone consultations etc which I know some people like and need. I didn’t want any of that, I just wanted the pen and for them to leave me alone.

That’s terrible. They knew it would be out of date before you could finish it. I’d keep emailing them and don’t let them fob you off.
