Apart from my DH and my best friend (who's a consultant gastroenterologist so I asked her opinion before starting. She also spoke to her colleague who's a consultant nutritionist. Both said "go for it"), I haven't told anyone yet that I've started on this.
What have you all done? Kept it quiet? Broadcast it? Have you had any judgemental comments or are people mainly supportive.

I am keeping it quiet for now. I am enjoying realising absolutely nobody is paying attention to what I am eating or how little! I I am full or I don’t fancy that ice cream/cake/wine and that isn’t questioned at all.

Fizzleaway1 · 27/10/2024 17:50

@EVK - how much was Asda?
I paid £98 for my first pen and £110.82 for my second

Only my husband knows and that's the way it will stay. He's fab and very supportive.

I'm a stone down in 2 weeks which is amazing. I actually had a friend comment that I'm looking slim a few days ago - I didn't expect it to be noticeable to other people so soon! If she can spot a stone, she'll get a shock when I've shed a further 4! 😅

Amazing loss in two weeks, well done! Good luck for the duration.

So far I’ve only told my sister and one friend. I nearly told DH yesterday but chickened out. I just worry he might be disapproving or disappointed or something. Both DH and my friend have commented this week that they’ve noticed I’ve lost weight. NSV - I have ordered my comfy joggers in the next size down. And they fit fine!

Another daft question. I’m looking at ordering through IQ doctor using a code. The 2.5 dose for around £137, do I get one pen that I use 4 times? Is that £137 everything I need for the first 4 weeks? And do I need a sharps bin?

I ordered from IQDoctor, they send you everything you need. In the package is a bag with the injection & ice packs to keep it cool, in another box you get a sharps bin and a little box containing 4 disposable needles.

The instructions are really clear and step by step.

Personally I'm just not going to have protein shakes as I want to develop better food habits and not rely on a protein shakes as once I hit my goal weight and stop taking it I want to be eating healthier.

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/10/2024 18:24

I started Thursday. Appetite has buggered off quite a lot, which has led me to the conclusion I think I'm bored at night!!! I'm restless, I don't feel settled. Normally I'd be stuffing my face with a pint of cider present and I'm not! Any tips 😂?!

surreygirl1987 · 27/10/2024 18:27

Anyone struggled with vigorous exercise? I went for a swim last week and found it tougher than usual, and today I felt quite shaky in a badminton match. Is this because I'm not eating enough? I had eaten a banana before my match so thought I'd be okay! Not used to feeling like that.

I’ve taken up knitting. I’m knitting a very complicated Kaffe Fasset jumper in a size 12 - I’m currently an 18-20. So I have to loose the weight. This time, next year, I’m gonna be wearing it!

Only my husband (a this thread!) knows, and that’s how I plan to keep it 👍🏻

No one had the patience to teach me to knit when I was a child because I'm left handed so I was rubbish at it and it took me a month to make a scarf for my Sindy doll. Would take me at least a year to do a sleeve of a jumper!! I would love to be able to knit

Me too, but fortunately I had a left handed aunt.

i’ve taken it up again recently, to help with arthritis, on physios recommendation. It does help with feeling twitchy in the evenings too.

I ordered from IQ Doctor on Friday and my kit was delivered yesterday. I did my first jab around 5pm yesterday and feel fine so far. I paid about £110 with the code OCT23.

I emailed to check and my starter kit included the sharps bin, wipes, needles and the pen. They phoned me within the hour to confirm. Very impressed.

Protein shakes are just a good way to up your protein in a palatable format. I make some really nice mixes from recipes I’ve found online although I haven’t fancied a sweet shake since starting MJ.

It’s much cheaper to use powder - but the shop bought ones are nicer if you’re not going to add extras.

My faves:-

Banana, chocolate and PB:-
Banana, peanut butter 1 tbsp, almond milk - start at 250ml and see if it’s thick enough), 1tsp cocoa powder, chocolate whey protein.

Vanilla:-
Vanilla protein powder (myprotein do the nicest French vanilla protein powder), banana, 0.5 tsp vanilla essence, almond milk, 0.5 tsp cinnamon 👌🏻

There’s some nice recipes on insta and they’re like a nice milkshake rather than a protein powder.

Hello! I haven't posted for ages, hope everyone is good. My DH has been away for the last ten days and if I'm completely honest, I've overeaten and felt unwell with it. I'm starting 5mg tomorrow and hoping for good suppression to get back in the swing of things. Feel frustrated with myself but I always new this week was going to be a bad one food wise, I'm just not far enough into the journey to have built a good food relationship

SunQueen24 · 27/10/2024 19:13

I haven’t told anyone except the friend whose referral code I used. I did tell a friend I’d ordered the pen and I hoped my prescription would be issued but I’ve not told her I’ve started.

letshavetea · 27/10/2024 19:16

I’ve been away for the weekend. Interesting reading all your updates. I’ve just taken my bonus dose from my first pen. I used an insulin syringe (needle attached) to extract the bonus dose. I didn’t fancy having issues with doing the hard twist! It worked well with the syringe and needle.
Weigh in tomorrow morning. I’ve already got my next two pens in stock. One 2.5 and one 5.0.

Doghairismyglitter · 27/10/2024 19:17

I got 6 needles in Pen 2 from Med Express which will cover my bonus dose from Pen 1 next week and also from Pen 2, so I’m happy !

What’s the bonus dose?

AllstarFacilier · 27/10/2024 19:22

Do I need to remember to order in four weeks, or do I get a reminder when to do so?

letshavetea · 27/10/2024 19:23

Plenty of info on these threads. It’s the extra that’s left after injecting the four doses. Mine was 0.7ml.

TheChosenTwo · 27/10/2024 19:36

I got 6 needles ordering with Oushk, i only went with them because you can choose your delivery day and I’m sometimes in the office and didn’t want to risk it being sat out for hours until I get home.
Not planning on doing the bonus dose, I’d worry that it wasn’t a full dose. I think I made an error and wasted loads as it was when I did my first dose, priming the bloody pen, thought I was following along the instructions quite well but apparently not!
I haven’t told anyone other than this thread. I’ve got teen girls and have always been very careful not to talk about diets etc in front of them. I’m only on day 2 and hoping any symptoms will be negligible enough to pass off.

Homeiswherethedogis · 27/10/2024 19:44

I'm struggling to keep up with the thread but still here.

W3D1
sw 14st 2
cw 13st 7
gw 11st 7

Lost 3lb this week, 9lb in total.
Chuffed with that.

ShineyHappyPeeple · 27/10/2024 19:45

When people say they use an insulin needle to extract the bonus dose - what does this mean?!

I get that you can use another needle to extract the dose but do people then use the same needle to give themselves the dose? Doesn't it hurt - those needles look quite sharp..
