I'm just looking to chat with others who have a lot to loose .
It feels daunting, and it's going to be expensive.
I'm currently week 3 on monjroro

I'm trying to accept that it took me a long time to get to this weight so it's going to take a long time to lose it. If I average a couple of pounds a week down then it will take me at least a year just to get down to a BMI of 30. If it ends up costing me a couple of thousand pounds over that time but I regain my health then it's a price I'm willing to pay. I'm just hoping I don't start getting side effects or it stops being effective. I've lost over two stone so far and I can feel the difference but it's feeling in control of my eating that's made the biggest difference.

This similar to me ,..I've spent my whole life fat ..I actually can't imagine what living a live being thin would be like

Yes and I actually think the slower the better as it helps acclimatise to the long term lifestyle changes needed as well as the help the jabs give by switching off the food noises - I do worry when I see 5-10lb losses in a week and I am pleased my losses are 1-2lbs a week . I’ve been fat for 50 years it’s amazing that I with the help of the jabs and some daily positive decisions prioritising my health I can be merely Overweight by this time next year . I never dared dream of a 2lb losses a week , each week. I too shall be on these jabs for life and the £150 odd a month will be my main financial priority after my kids needs .

Yes ,2lbs a week loss seems like a dream here too.
I only weigh my self occasionally as I get to upset if it's moved in the wrong direction or not moved at all .so I don't actually know if I'm loosing at a steady rate ,I suspect I'm not and it's random losses

When on Slimming World, I would lose 2-3 pounds each week. On the Cambridge diet it was 4-5lbs a week. But neither was sustainable for me as I couldn’t keep the will power up. MJ is definitely helping more with that but definitely not a quick or easy fix. It’s just with so much still left to lose (another 10 stone), it feels such an enormous mountain to climb still.

It's the keeping it of long term that is going to be difficult.
I'm still learning what foods ,even on MJ ,I can't have in the house ,I'm so upset with myself for eating some salt and vinegar peanuts yesterday,I thought they were safe from me ,but it turns out they were not.yes it's all a huge mountain for sure

Can anyone recommend an antiemetic drug I can buy over the counter in a chemist please? If I’m constantly feeling sick or vomiting there is no way I can keep doing this and want to have something on hand as it’s a bit of a phobia, thanks

sporkandnoodles · 11/12/2024 09:08

would also be interested in getting some anti sickness - I have sent my partner out to get some travel sickness tablets as I've heard those are good.
I have had quite bad sickness so far and also diarrhea. I just feel totally drained :( I can't manage this long term if its what its going to be like.

I feel a bit disheartened. It took me quite a long time to pluck up the courage to do this and I had read such amazing reports on how effective it is. I feel horrible. Going to try and eat some toast in a mo but scared I will be sick again.

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 11/12/2024 09:24

@sporkandnoodles which drug are you taking? I felt like this on wegovy and ended up giving up after 2 months as I couldn't handle feeling rubbish all the time. I'm 3 months in on mounjaro and have found it so much better for the lack of side effects

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 11/12/2024 16:54

I found drinking lots of low calorie squash, took away the sickness .
But as for the tiredness..I could sleep for a week,I never want to get out of bed

I keep seeing lots of people mentioning fatigue and tiredness, luckily I haven’t experienced that. I had my first bout of nausea on Monday, it’s passed now, haven’t felt that since my last pregnancy 33 years ago!
Hope everyone is doing well

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 12/12/2024 15:03

I've had a bit of sickness too and what I think was that dumping syndrome, but neither lasted long ...it's the tiredness that's getting me ,this time of year I struggle with SAD anyway ,..so I'm hopeful that by the spring I won't be so tired

OP posts:
AgathaLioness · 12/12/2024 19:46

I have had the tiredness, mostly at the very beginning, but on and off since as well. Nausea has been on and off and changes weekly. Not much the last few weeks though thankfully! I seem to be in a plateau at the moment, but I'm being stubborn and will keep going until it hopefully starts moving again!

TorturedParentsDepartment · 13/12/2024 11:35

I'm not sure if I've had the tiredness or not - this time of year my entire work team are fucking knackered so it's fairly normal for me!

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 14/12/2024 08:22

Actually yes ,maybe it's not the injections, everyone else around me seems tired to ,maybe it's the time of year ,not necessarily the injections,or I needed more vitamins

I've had a couple of days of a bad stomach this week - probably the jab and the fact I was a bit more lax than usual in the day before I jabbed, but can't eliminate the possibility it was a virus I picked up either.

I did hit my latest mini goal though - to get into the 21stone bracket - made it to 21st 12lb today - from my start point of 24st 12lb! Starting to notice a looser fit in some clothes (usually t-shirts that were slightly on the snug side) now.

Well done!! I'm looking forward to following in your footsteps, hopefully soon! Not with the tummy issues mind!

sporkandnoodles · 18/12/2024 12:52

I was supposed to have my second jab earlier in the week but have a stinking cold so I have postponed it and will probably take it tomorrow.

I have lost 4lbs in the first week which I am happy with. I am taking it one stone at a time. So my first mini target is to get under 17 stone.

I need to take some before snaps as well as I know that will help keep me on track.

The symptoms were pretty horrible last week. I am really hoping the second dose is a bit kinder, especially with Christmas around the corner.

Do you all have plans in place to stay on track over christmas? I am hoping I can have my usual treats but just little amounts of them. Christmas dinner is always a mountain of food but its all so yummy so I am hoping a smaller portion of everything will suffice and I won't feel like I am missing out

Hottoffeesauce · 18/12/2024 13:26

Hi everyone, I'm new and just about to order my first Mounjaro pack. I have spoken to my GP and he has agreed I could start the jabs.

Bibulous · 18/12/2024 13:51

@sporkandnoodles I'm planning to carry on as I am for Christmas. I've had years of seeing Christmas as an excuse to eat too much so I want to build better habits.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 18/12/2024 13:59

@sporkandnoodles, I’m planning on continuing as normal over Christmas, I will still have my Christmas dinner and Christmas pud, but probably a third of the size I normally go for, and only one dessert rather than 3 with extra thick cream! Everyone is coming to us so I’m in control of what we buy and cook. We have a lot less indulgent chocolates and treats squirrelled away this year and whatever doesn’t get eaten will be sent home with the adult kids. I don’t think I could over eat without feeling awful anyway (luckily!)

That's a really good first loss ,you must be proud
I'm planning on carrying on as normal this Christmas, normal on my dose I mean .I've had many Christmases where I've put weight on ,I don't want this to be one of them

Brilliant
Are you planning on starting before Christmas

@sporkandnoodles I plan on carrying on as normal this Christmas really - we tend to have a quiet family day and no big parties or meet ups though, so it's easy to do. Also I've been on a plateau for weeks now and I dont want to risk going up!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 19/12/2024 22:35

I read this today on a fitness guy’s page I follow, I’ve posted it on another thread but it’s so true:

There’s 7700 calories in 1kg of fat, so going a few hundred or even thousand over doesn’t make as much difference as you think. Weight loss is meant to compliment your life and make it better, if you are about to spend your Christmas stressing over food, it’s doing the opposite. Aiming for maintenance is a lot more achievable and it’s still progress. Memories with friends and family are more important than your weight loss goals.

StressedEric · 20/12/2024 07:49

Another month and 11lb down for me , taking me into the 280s for the first time since 2013. I’m planning on jabbing as normal tomorrow and eating a little bit of what i fancy over Xmas - and keeping track of calories via MFP over the week I can at least have one or two days of 1200 calories as usual . I have been on my works Christmas night out to an all you can eat Chinese and whilst I had noodles and rice for the first time since mid September( and they were bloody lovely ) I didn’t eat EVERYTHING like I would have done previously ( and still lost that week) .

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 26/12/2024 18:54

Merry Christmas everyone 🎄
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas day and boxing day ,and managed something nice to eat .
I had a good meal both days ..had a few nibbles, bit of cheese and crackers and a couple of chocolates.
Ate about a third of what I'd usually eat over the two days ...but still a lot more than I have been eating.
Not going to weigh for a while as I know the extra food will weigh more for a few days .
I think I ate over Christmas how normal people eat ,both days I left food on my plate .. unheard of in the past ,both days I chose a small portion of cheese and crackers in the evening instead of dessert.. normally I've of had both .
So yes I've eaten more than I was doing, but a huge amount less than I'd normally do at Christmas.
Feeling pleased
Hope everyone else is doing ok too xx

@Cakesandcookiesnomore Happy Christmas!! I'm pleased you had a lovely time. Similar to you, I ate what I wanted but much less than normal. I didn't feel bereft at all, or uncomfortably full - much more enjoyable than it normally would be!
