That's awesome channelling of your rage @MargoLivebetter! I mainly focus on trying to endure my emotions without eating, I hadn't really thought about positive outlets!

That's an odd swing @Timetochange24. I'm assuming you'd know if there had been any unnatural poo babies being birthed. Could you have been very dehydrated on the low day? Sometimes if I have a lower than usual calorie day I see a drop but it soon swings up as soon as I eat and drink normally. Whenever I get a version of this, I tell myself rather unscientifically that it's my body practising to be a lower weight and it helps me overcome my fury that a loss has temporarily vanished.

20bloodypounds · 24/10/2024 09:57

Sorry. Just placematking before I ho out so I can find you later.

Changinghabits1973 · 24/10/2024 10:20

Morning all ... hope everyone is ok and just catching up on the thread since yesterday afternoon...

After being elated yesterday on weigh in day with my loss and my BMI dropping below 40, stupidly i got on the scales again today and put 1.5lb on and my BMI is back up to 40 so now am in a bad mood.... 😡 I need to get over it as I know it is "science" etc etc etc etc ... bla bla bla... BUT isn't it amazing how jumping on the scales makes a difference to your mood (well it does mine...!) With a loss you feel so flipping elated and with a gain you're like WTF?! The only thing i did different yesterday to any other day this last 6 days is that i had a lovely chopped salad with my chicken instead of an omelette - could it be water retained from the lettuce i am asking myself?!

So the plan for this morning.... drink another 2 green teas (already had one and half a litre of water), try and go to the toilet (!!) have a quick 20 minute walk and then off to a big meeting this afternoon and a 4 hour round trip of driving ! I think listening to Heart Dance on my journey will ease my mood and I will end up coming back this evening thinking i am 20 years old again after having listened to all my dance floor bangers! 😅

poppym12 · 24/10/2024 10:35

I'm feeling less shivery and achy today @NippyCrab, thank you for asking. I'm still going to do as little as possible though as I know from past experiences how much a virus can drag me down with ME.

weaseleyes · 24/10/2024 10:42

I recognise that feeling @Changinghabits1973! But given that weight inevitably goes up or down a little, would you rather your lowest point so far is below or above 40? The fact it's been below is great! You're on a downwards trajectory, it's just not a completely smooth linear one. Think of the billions and billions of cells in our bodies, the multitude of complex processes, the way it has to adapt to our intake and declining weight. It's not surprising it has to make some daily adjustments to cope. But yes - starting the day with a meh, wahay or fuck - is a challenging thing!

Changinghabits1973 · 24/10/2024 10:51

@weaseleyes thank you ! And for sure, you are so right in what you have said; I get it, i honestly do; I think i am going to really try harder not to weigh every day; I know its a good idea in some respects to keep an eye etc but for me, having reflected, i felt better mentally when it was just twice a week - i need to keep the momentum up - than every day losing, then gaining, then losing etc - it gets in my head way too much and I am in this for the longhaul with hoping to get to goal by next summer, so onwards and upwards !!

Thank you so much again - you have lots of knowledge and wisdom! x

Timetochange24 · 24/10/2024 11:14

@weaseleyes I like that way of thinking - that it was my body practicing! It's possible that I was dehydrated and hadn't eaten enough as the 5mg suppression was strong the first couple of weeks. No poo babies that I can think of, but definitely a shift in body clock to later in the day. Was thinking earlier (as I had to make an emergency stop in Costa) that might make the difference too.

@Changinghabits1973 fingers crossed for a dip down again soon. That's definitely a downside for more regular weighing. Stay confident that your progress downwards will continue- this was just a blip, or a large drink, or something like that.

owlyboo · 24/10/2024 11:20

@Changinghabits1973 I weigh most days but weirdly the increases don't bother me. I take no notice unless jts weigh day. Just helps me stay on track and think oh I should drink a lot of water today etc. so sounds like a good plan!

Glad you're feeling a little better @poppym12 rest up!

Morning everyone else! I've done my usual 5 miles. No lovely picture today as I had to go to the post office so not such nice views I'm afraid!

weaseleyes · 24/10/2024 11:22

The daily weighing is a real dilemma, isn't it? The downside is that it really does feel like your whole day is determined by the scale, which is crazy. On the other hand, if I don't weigh daily, then if I happen to be up on the official day I'm really pissed off, whereas if I know I was down on other days I can treat it more like a meaningless blip. I also know that once I stop weighing daily, it's easier to drift away from weighing altogether (either in maintenance or if I'm starting to lose my dieting mojo and feel I've had a bad week) and then it's the slippery slope to gaining and saying I'll be better by the next weigh in.

So on balance, I'm trying to stick with weighing daily and cultivating an air of dispassionate interest rather than a day-determining surge of emotion; sometimes I'm even successful!

Yes! I also agree with the slippery slope to not weighing altogether! That's definitely how I got into this mess!!!

poppym12 · 24/10/2024 11:38

Does anyone know why we should drink so much water to help lose weight? I've always drunk a lot of water (albeit sparkling) but apparently drinking more helps the weight to come off. Is this simply because you're basically filling up on zero calorie water rather than eating?

Apologies if this is a stupid question, I'm really not functioning properly at the moment!

eeeeeeeee · 24/10/2024 11:44

Hello again everyone!

Thanks for the new thread!

Just to recap - I completed 4 weeks of 2.5mg, 4 weeks of 5mg; and today I completed 4 jabs of 7.5mg.

7.5mg has been interesting! Zero side effects and lots of losses to begin with, but I’m stalling again. I also stalled on 5mg, it was 7.5mg that kickstarted things again. I’m a bit disappointed with how frequently my body seems to plateau. I also am generally getting “normal” cravings again, although I have good appetite suppression.

Overall I have lost around 3kg on 7.5mg and still have this week to go. I have around 13kg to go to my desired weight.

There seems to be a lot of contradictory information about what water does in regards to weight loss, some reports say it physically helps others like you said you're filling up on water rather than eating unnecessarily... I hedge my bets and drink it as it's good for you anyway! 😂

It helps keep your body working well at a time when digestion is probably slowing down or changing. Also can make you feel fuller/be an alternative to a snack.

I think there are also theories it might help the body process stored energy into usable energy? Not sure if they're proven though, that might have been something theoretical from a diet company.

It’s not a stupid question. I think some people don’t realise how the body loses weight. I didn’t!

I just watched YouTube videos. It has nothing to do with poo for example- that isn’t your body losing weight. Essentially the fat gets converted into mass that you sweat and exhale out

Timetochange24 · 24/10/2024 11:51

@owlyboo yes - the easiest good habit to get into! (I say that not being in the habit of drinking enough water...)

Timetochange24 · 24/10/2024 11:52

@eeeeeeeee depends on the size of the 💩 🤣🤣

That's a really interesting link, thank you - I'm going to try and digest it properly later.

weaseleyes · 24/10/2024 12:01

I think we all know that pooing is just a handy way to hope for a lower number on weigh-in day! Dieting can be a dull business, so I like to take pleasure in small things - or big things!

MabelSpan · 24/10/2024 12:08

Hi everybody!

Hope you are all having a good week!

I have had a strange time since my double dose last week (I took 8.58mg instead of 4mg, dont ask how or why, it was a major cock up of my own doing😄), whilst the side effect was mainly nausea which had gone by the end of last week and was managed well with kwells or cyclizine, something else, not so good took its place. I started getting really dark thoughts. These lasted several days, finally fading away this week, they would come out of nowhere, leave me feeling hopelessly devastated about life, then vanish again as quickly as they came on.
I am now 100% perfectly fine again, but after thinking back on how low I felt during those episodes, I thought I should share in case it happens to anyone else.😊

I havent jabbed this week as my food noise is still zero and supression is good. Its back to where it was before my double dose, (which killed all interest in food), and I am back to cooking meals and enjoying eating them.

In random nsv news, I went to put on my fav pair of velvety lounge pants and they more or less fell off! Way too big, its a bit of a sad nsv as I liked them very much!😃

Random food news, I have got 4 pints of full fat milk that need using up so think I might make either ricotta or cottage cheese, wish me luck!

owlyboo · 24/10/2024 12:16

Oh gosh sorry @MabelSpan that sounds awful. I suffer with anxiety so I know how those dark thoughts can come over all of a sudden and take control and it isn't nice at all. I'm glad it's lifted now. MJ has had the opposite effect on my mental heath and really helped with the anxiety but I have seen reports that I can heighten it (I think someone posted a report on here.) so thanks you for sharing so we can all keep an eye out for any symptoms!

I'm a rubbish cook so wouldn't have a clue! But happy milk using!

MabelSpan · 24/10/2024 12:16

Sometimes I get on the scales daily and my weight can go up by 6lbs overnight. I only get on the scales out of curiousity to see the huge fluctuations and dont count or record any losses or gains on those days as I think its pointless. My Monday weight is the only one that counts for me as I think the body needs a week as a minimum to adjust itself. Ideally I would weigh monthly, but Monday weigh ins are ingrained deep into my soul and I am too old to change now!😊

weaseleyes · 24/10/2024 12:17

That sounds horrid @MabelSpan - so glad you're feeling better! It's probably just as well you knew you'd done something unusual and they didn't just come out of the blue or it would have been even more distressing. I suppose it's not a surprise that anything linked to hormones can change how we feel, but that's a very useful warning.

eeeeeeeee · 24/10/2024 12:23

@WorriedRelative haha no worries! It is interesting, I always think of that process when I’m drinking water or sweating and hoping it boosts my losses!

MargoLivebetter · 24/10/2024 12:23

@MabelSpan that sounds like it was a really tough week. I'm glad you are out the other side of it.

MabelSpan · 24/10/2024 12:24

Thanks @weaseleyes and @owlyboo I wasnt sure whether to share and have ummed and ahhed all week about it, but in the end I thought if it might help someone else then it is the right thing to do.
It was quite extreme and intense, but thankfully for short periods so I was able to hang on in there and as you said @weaseleyes because I knew I had had that larger dose, I was able to link it to the MJ, do a bit of googling and reassure myself it was a probably a side effect and it would pass, which it did😊

I am clearly very much an MJ lightweight!😃
