Oh @Arraminta so sorry you're feeling rough! That sounds very scary! Since starting MJ I just haven't felt like sugary things so can't help as haven't really had anything I can think of. Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you. It was the first sugary food I've had in about 6 weeks? It's ironic because I used to mainline sugar with zero effects.

owlyboo · 06/11/2024 10:57

I suppose if it's the first your body has had of it for 6 weeks it might not even be the MJ just the shock to the system?! Scary though. Take it easy today!

Arraminta · 06/11/2024 11:00

Yes, I think I'm going to have a duvet day today, feel quite listless and under the weather.

lookathatbookcase · 06/11/2024 11:29

Oh gosh @Arraminta I hope you feel better. I know that a bunch of low-level Autumn viral lurgies are going around, so maybe that also might be kicking you too? I've been feeling rough as for about a week now - not ill, but not really well either. But sugar shock also sounds horrible - hope you feel better soon x

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/11/2024 13:02

Sorry you feel poorly @Arraminta

So many of you Havnt had sugar crisp cake urges and avoided it for months

Very envious

Speedy recovery

weaseleyes · 06/11/2024 13:57

That sounds rough @Arraminta, hope you're recovering. A couple of years ago I started having IBS type symptoms which were very similar to that. I think mine came about through having become very sedentary WFH and having put on a lot of weight. They've pretty much abated due to losing weight (prior to MJ) and moving around much more, but I've remained sensitive to a few foods. I definitely think if you've cut something out of your system for a while you can have quite a strong reaction to it, and that's probably exacerbated by taking longer to process it due to MJ slowing down your digestion.

Arraminta · 06/11/2024 14:42

Thank you! Feeling a bit brighter but just staying cuddled on the sofa in my dressing gown. I had lunch with DD yesterday and she's messaged to say she has a really upset tummy? So maybe we both have a touch of food poisoning?

NippyCrab · 06/11/2024 16:18

@Arraminta hope you feel better this afternoon, must have been your lunch which isn't great.
@Dogsandswimming I did the 2.5 every 5 days then decided to brave a 3.75 and I did feel a wee bit seedy but nothing major. I did 3 last Friday mainly because DH is off this week but I'm going back up to 3.75 this Friday.
@SilverSprings510 fab loss and overall consistency too 💪
@owlyboo so glad the wee one is so much better, beautiful pics.
@Changinghabits1973 that's a brilliant loss 🙌🥳

I bought this at Costco today, £22.99., just under a KG tub. I don't know if it's good or not, I didn't pay for it so I'm not really caring 😆

Thank you !!

Re the Vimto protein, did you see my quote from yesterday? I posted saying that i had got some, how tasteful the flavour was and i even mixed it with more water than the recommended; it mixed like an absolute dream... hope you enjoy it as much as i do ! 😉

20bloodypounds · 06/11/2024 16:42

@Arraminta I have always found that too much sugar can upset my tummy. It's funny I have a pretty strong and healthy constitution, rarely unwell, but sugar upsets me, too much coffee makes me shake, and I'm an MJ weakling psyching up to take a 3mg dose!

I saw it and remembered what you had posted and chucked it in the trolley, I'll probably do the same as you and add more water. The increasing muscle mass is what I need, xx

Changinghabits1973 · 06/11/2024 17:01

Oh gosh.... no pressure on me then whatsoever !! @NippyCrab - else you will be cursing if you don't like it !! 😅

🤣🤣🤣🤣 DH is a lover of Vimto, Diluting and fizzy so if I truly hate it he can have some. I will like it, as long as it's super cold. I'm fed up with plain water, and this will sound daft but it's as if it's lying heavy in my stomach at times.

Changinghabits1973 · 06/11/2024 17:33

I totally get it.... i drink so much water its unreal - but yesterday late afternoon i honestly thought that my body might be flooded !! Sounds ridiculous i know, but I was getting stomach cramps, felt like i had eaten a 3 course meal etc etc and it wasn't food as i hadn't eaten dinner by then !! I hope you do like it, but at least you know it won't go to waste with DH !

AdeloreSmore · 06/11/2024 17:38

Just posting to say I managed to do my 5th dose with a syringe like a proper grown up 😆
Oh & also that I wish there was such a thing as size 17 jeans 😆 Bought some 16's on vinted but know they will be too small.
Weigh in tomorrow- can't believe week 13 already, having a wine to celebrate me keeping going!! Hope you are all ok 👍

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/11/2024 19:00

Well done on bonus dose @AdeloreSmore

Last 2 days I have tracked cals and have our in what I am having tomorow

Tho usually do at end of day in case menu /things change

Seems out of my 1388 I am having around 1100/1200 easily

So have 200 well 188 to play with every day

I have weighed out my food every time
To check portion control - kinda boring but wanted to see what I would call a portion was what the app would call one

My pasta dried was 73g impressed with that

My lump of cheese

Portions of fruit. Get a lot of watermelon for 300g and 60cals

Been interesting so thanks to who gave me my fitness pal

What was really weird was that I have an account with them with my usual email address

I did one in April 2011. Wanting to lose weight then. I had it all filled out was 3 st lighter then was when started dieting earlier this year 😳😳

But I did lose weight few weeks/over the next few months later as that was when dh died and the death diet came in 🥲

So I lost maybe 2st then. Prob one of the lightest I've been in years according to the data. Then put 2st on plis another 3 over the years

Still blame a lot on ivf drugs

Anyway sorry for woffle

weaseleyes · 06/11/2024 20:23

That sounds good @Blondeshavemorefun. I think it's good to sense check calories now and then, even if you don't do it all the time. It's easy for portion sizes to creep up - or even just to imagine they have and then be reassured you're doing ok! I like to get a vague sense of nutritional profile as well, from time to time.

I've got weight tracked on myfitnesspal too - bloody depressing to see my gaining and losing of 3 stone repeatedly over the years. I deleted some past data years ago as I never wanted to weigh that again - mine was also lower then than this year! I switched to a different app last autumn as I wanted to record blood sugar too, and it was good to have a fresh start. Although that app now shows me losing weight last autumn and gaining it back all year up until this August. I'm so hoping not to do that to myself again this time.

owlyboo · 06/11/2024 20:24

Good luck with the weigh in @AdeloreSmore

@Blondeshavemorefun you'll lose it again and for good this time! You seem very determined.

I know I've mentioned before how much MJ has helped my anxiety but this week has really proven that sun/mon I was feeling very anxious again, something I haven't felt for a while and then jabbed Tuesday and all quiet again.

I think post MJ I may need to look into other medication / obviously see the dr about helping with my anxiety as it something I've also just 'dealt with' but having not felt it hardly at all on MJ when I creeps back when I'm due a jab I definitely don't want to deal with that feeling again going forward!

poppym12 · 06/11/2024 22:03

Thank you @20bloodypounds. I've actually left the house today. Only as far as the surgery to order my repeat prescription (and I drove) but it's a start! Banging headache I can't seem to shift tho so I'm thinking of trying sudafed or something.

ChunkyMunky · 06/11/2024 22:41

I’ve been using My Fitness Pal this week too. I started off in August thinking that I didn’t want to get hung up on tracking calories, and was just going to try and ‘listen to my body’, and ‘stop when I feel full’. But I started to suspect that I wasn’t eating enough, so thought I’d better track to see, and ohhh dear I am not. It was much lower than I realised and probably not healthy (even for a chunk like me). Then I watched a programme about weight loss that was talking about losing lean mass and the complications of extreme dieting and I gave myself a scare.

Making a conscious effort to eat now, but having to build up gradually as my digestive system seems to have a pretty volatile reaction to food now. Aiming for at least 800 calories each day, although I found that difficult today, and could have happily had less. Such a change from previous diets, where cutting calories felt hard, can’t quite believe I’m now forcing them in.

Might try the Vimto clear whey drink that a few have mentioned. Is it thick, or is it like juice? I’ve avoided protein shakes etc as the thought of something thick and creamy doesn’t appeal at all.

Also, have found another app which is interesting. It’s called Shotsy and tracks your MJ jabs. Helpful as I’ve wobbled up and down dosage amounts and was beginning to lose track of what I’d had. It also works out the levels in your system, and shows them increasing or decreasing; so I had my last jab on Sunday evening but my levels apparently peaked today (maybe why I didn’t want dinner!), and now will start to drop.

Hope you feel better soon @poppym12 and @Arraminta

Azuresky68 · 06/11/2024 22:48

@ChunkyMunky thanks for the interesting post. The whey drink isn't thick...it's bit like squash but better. I have the raspberry lemonade flavour. Good way to top up your protein. Just jabbed my 4th 7.5 mg, next week it's the bonus dose then onto 10 mg pen I usually eat around 1000 cals or less and make sure I get the recommended amount of protein. Have a great week everyone!

ChunkyMunky · 06/11/2024 22:55

Thanks @Azuresky68 I’ll definitely give it a try then.

How do we know what the protein goal should be? Is it just whatever My Fitness Pal tells us? That says my goal should be 69g, and I’m usually eating between 50g - 60g per day, so a whey top up will be good I think.

Azuresky68 · 06/11/2024 22:59

@Blondeshavemorefun, it's great that you used MFP and weighed your portions and also that you are giving the whey protein drinks a try. I have to track on MFP every day to make sure I don't go over my 1000 daily calories. My tracking goes back to 2016 with a large amount of gaps. I sometimes upload a photo when I log my weight. I also make sure I eat enough protein. You can set that up under goals. It's approximately .7 grammes per every pound of weight according to various Google sources. Good luck 👍

Azuresky68 · 06/11/2024 23:09

@ChunkyMunky You can set your own amounts of protein, fats and carbs up under goals. It's approximately .7 grammes per every pound of weight according to various Google sources. There are various approaches to carbs and fats, depending on whose advice you follow. I did well on a low carb, high protein diet in the past, but very low carb is quite hard to sustain as you are so limited on bread, pasta, rice, starchy veg and pulses. I mostly avoid low fat products as 'good fats' are thought by many to be more healthy. There are different approaches to low fat or low carbs in the diet. I concentrate on making sure I get enough protein. Hope that helps. I am a big fan of MFP as it's free and has a lot of features. Ifcyou cook from scratch a lot you can input your own recipes. If you need any help with MFP just give me a shout.
