So true about finishing up food rather than wasting it. I'm so guilty of this before MJ.

I try to remind myself that I'm not a bin and it's not wasteful to throw half a fish finger and a few chips away.
For me it's more about wasting the money I think but that money is already spent whether it ends up in the bin or not.

I've been invited to 50th party in February and would love to be at my target weight for that (2 stone ish to go)
The theme is red and white.... I only own blend in black clothes as I'm self conscious.

I'm toying with buying a red dress but not sure if I have the confidence to carry it off....

Hey all, haven't dropped by for a while as I couldn't keep up with you all.

Anyone else thoroughly fed up of feeling sick/nauseous?

I had the best of intentions starting MJ that I'd eat well, keep up my exercise..but it hasn't worked out like that all as I'm nauseous all the time, barely feeling like eating recently, and therefore don't have the energy for exercising. I'm also struggling with low blood pressure so getting head rushes all the time!

I'm only on 5mg! Halfway through my second month on it and planning to go back down to 2.5mg next, then finish.

Bit disappointed in myself but it's genuinely a struggle!

Yes I can definitely relate to this. My diet isn’t as varied or healthy as it should be because I’m opting for bland due to the nausea and general disinterest in food. I’m on my second 5mg pen, but counting clicks and taking either 2.5mg of 3.75mg per week depending on how I’m feeling. Have had a few head rushes too, no idea what my blood pressure is, but it could well be that.

I tend to just tolerate the mild nausea and nibble a bit of dried cereal or a cracker, but sometimes the nausea is much stronger and then I can’t tolerate anything at all.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/11/2024 19:25

I don't calorie count. Maybe I should. Is there a free app that works it out for me

Someone possibly @AdeloreSmore put up her days menu so shows what she ate and cals next door

Just curious what I eat roughly

Today for example

B apple ff yog and banana

L ham and cheese Sarnie with lf Mayo. Crisos. Fruit

T salmon and rice

S some smarties

AuntieDote · 04/11/2024 19:57

Hi all, just checking in - off to catch up properly on thread but hope everyone is ok.

@Blondeshavemorefun i use the app Lose It which is good for working it all out.

Last week I had injected around 6.25 with counting clicks, a little more suppression than on the 5 but was completely gone by the weekend and I did find myself obsessing about sugar again by then. I did indulge a little bit - tracked and within my calories but still not what I want to be doing.

Went up to injecting 7.5 yesterday. Have felt ok side effects wise so far touch wood, and didn’t feel hungry all day till dinner time really - had forced a small lunch of smoked salmon and salad down but nothing else till dinner time which was a steak with one small spoonful of mash and a pile of green veg. I’m bloated as anything now, just sipping an optibac probiotic sachet - seriously look like I’ve swallowed a beach ball, but not feeling all burpy and sick like I was this time last week which is promising - so hope it stays that way!

Changinghabits1973 · 04/11/2024 17:18

Omg that is so true what you say... that's exactly how I felt ... Just hadn't registered until now.. thank you so much 😊
How is your food noise and journey on MJ going? X

Having a break from the food noise on MJ has been brilliant @Changinghabits1973 - I finally can actually do some of that thinking about my beliefs about food without wanting to eat it all the time!

I forgot to do my jag this weekend in fact, and haven't noticed the food noise creeping back (yet). Haven't lost anything this week, have just maintained, but it was TOM last week and I had a takeaway and a meal out this weekend so I'm not surprised, I woke up feeling a bit bloated this morning. I'm going to do it this evening.

Yes yes yes.

For the first month or so I was flying high - some side effects but just about manageable and felt so optimistic and motivated to exercise, eat better etc.

Then 2.5 stopped having any real effect for me so went up (3.75 and then 5) and I’ve never quite felt well since. I did have Covid in there somewhere which I also feel like I never quite got over this time round but honestly, the sickness, cramps, sulfur burps, never ending period and overwhelming fatigue I feel is making it so hard to make the lifestyle changes I really wanted to do whilst on the drug.

I’ve gone up to 7.5 in a final push to get another chunk of weight off, the side effects can’t be any worse than I’ve had on 5 to be honest, and whilst the side effects are shitty at the start of the week, the suppression/ fullness effects have worn off so quickly every time with 5 that I felt like I might as well try and get the ‘benefit’ with 7.5 if I’m going to be suffering the effects anyway. But I do keep wondering if this will have to be my last pen, not sure how much longer I can stick - I know I’ve been saying that for at least the last two though!!

NippyCrab · 04/11/2024 20:10

@troppibambini6 get that red dress! You will be amazing! Make a NY resolution to not blend anymore ❤️

@Changinghabits1973 I don't have good form and certainly don't breathe properly, I'm going to Google breast stroke. My Sister would guide effortlessly through the water i was envious.

@Pinkjenny i hope you're okay, is it the side effects you're struggling with? Hugs.

@Blondeshavemorefun I'm using Nutracheck, I've subscribed though, my fitness pal is free.

@Ithinkimrincewind oushk are good, i sent front and side pics in with a fitted vest top and leggings and my previous prescription with Voy.

@20bloodypounds @CrazyGoatLady you've both explained this beautifully so I'm saving these posts for future reference 😄

@CremeDeSudo I can only tolerate a low dose, I'm still at 3mg, i bravely did a 3.75 but thought it best to go down for this week because DH is on holiday. It's brutal at times isn't it?

@MabelSpan wooohooo that's brilliant, @Princessandthepie well done you 👏
@lmmj15 bet that felt and looked amazing 👏

@poppym12 how are you feeling, hope you're okay.

NippyCrab · 04/11/2024 20:14

@AuntieDote it's say the same thing too 🤣 i feel very sick tonight but I've eaten more than I should have unless it's the salad 🥗 🤢 I keep repeating the same thing that I will go up slightly then I can't deal with it 😅 x

CrazyGoatLady · 04/11/2024 21:45

@NippyCrab you're so brilliant at remembering what everyone has said on the thread and where people are up to!

Inspired by @troppibambini6 I've ordered a "goal dress" today. It isn't red, sadly (not my colour as I've red hair!) but have ordered a black knit wrap dress. Probably will still need some shapewear under it, but it's much more figure hugging than anything I've worn in years and I've got a work conference and awards dinner thing in a month's time. Fingers crossed it fits!

poppym12 · 04/11/2024 21:50

I'm okay @NippyCrab. Finished the steroids and antibiotics but still not feeling great. I've slept for most of the day again. I was hoping to be able to actually leave the house by now (it's been well over a week) but any kind of exertion seems to trigger uncontrollable sweating and I have to lie down again.

Thank you for asking after me xx

There is a way of working out how many calories you need to eat so that you can lose weight...different methods give you different amounts! Partly depends on age, height, level of activity, and current weight. If you are losing weight, then maybe 1548 is OK? I need to be on 1000 to lose weight. Not everyone agrees with counting calories though. Might be useful to track what you eat and drink for a few weeks? I am sure some of the lovely people on this thread will be able to help with how to work out how many calories you need to eat to lose weight. Sorry I can't remember how to calculate the calorie intake right now..my brain has switched off! Which tracker are you using? I like the free version of My Fitness Pal. Catch up soon!

Or this one!
https://tdeecalculator.net/ There are hundreds of these calculators and all vary a bit. I just use them as a rough guide. I dont think 1548 is too high considering how busy you are with mini blondes etc and you work nights.

MargoLivebetter · 05/11/2024 09:01

@Blondeshavemorefun I used MyNetDiary for free to track my daily calories. I have worked out my allowance by trial and error really. I will only lose if I average 1000 calories a day over 7 days. I'm 5ft 6" and average 8k steps a day. If I do more exercise I can add a few more calories, but it is a bit disappointing how few it will be. However, and this is a really big however, I'm 55 and post menopause. This makes a huge difference. I think you are a spring chicken, so you should be able to lose eating more calories. Track for a few weeks and you'll soon know.

I know so well the feeling of having to clear the plate @weaseleyes and @CrazyGoatLady . I have had to unlearn not eating every morsel on my plate. I grew up in a household where we were walloped if we didn't finish our food, regardless of whether we were full to bursting point or didn't like what we were eating. It is really difficult to swallow when you are crying, so I learnt to clear that plate regardless and it stuck with me. Not to mention all the moral and emotional blackmail piled on our impressionable minds about the sins of waste, ungratefulness and the starving children in Africa.

owlyboo · 05/11/2024 09:26

Morning all.

I don't calorie count but I did for years (to quite an unhealthy obsession even tracked ketchup!) so I pretty much know the calories of most things. I would guess I average around 1000-1200cals a day. More at weekends and I have a wine!

I think calorie counting is fine just keep a check on how it's makes you feel as I definitely got very obsessed with it years ago.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2024 09:52

@Azuresky68 yes I filled in my fitness pal with weight age losing weight and level of activity (not w lot lol) due to ankle and hips

Seemed high that's all v those who say struggle and have to eat under 1000

I will try and remember to track for the next few days /weeks as curious

Yes usually lose a lb but obv had the plateau for 3w that was bad !!!

Odd sts week as well

NippyCrab · 05/11/2024 09:53

Good morning 🐾🐾
@CrazyGoatLady I scroll up and down so I'm taking all the posts and info in, i don't retain info quickly or well 😅. Whit woo on the dress! Black will look super with your hair! And it will fit.
@owlyboo I used to track like you, then got so fed up with having hardly any calories left when I was eating clean and healthy because I had high value foods like avocado 🥑 seeds and FF items. I have started Nutracheck but if I'm low on calories at dinner time as long as I've eaten well, portions are acceptable too I'm not beating myself up for going over a few calories. Xx
@MargoLivebetter that made me sad to read that, that must have been really difficult 😢
@MabelSpan I've not used any of these so I will try one later and see what the calculation gives me. At the moment Nutracheck has me on 1200 a day.
@poppym12 your on the way to recovering, it sounds like your body will take another wee while to recover to get back to your previous baseline. Xx

While DH is home for a week I've 2 health goals and 2 daily life goals. I NEED to start a routine of using the resistance bands and at least one session of swimming a week. Life ones, actually starting a crochet kit I bought months ago and haven't used, I'm very bad for this. And an admin one which I've been putting off regarding Scottish Power urgh.
Have a fab day all 😊

Bless you @MargoLivebetter Spring chicken. I wish. I'm 3yrs younger than you and think I'm in the menopause finally as no periods since I hit 51 when was every 28days bang on apart from a tiny bleed rhink a month ago. mentioned it on here

@MabelSpan thanks will look at those links

Sorry me again. What do these mean ? Which one am I ?

They are just different formulas used to calculate your results. I tend to look at the first two and split the difference.
I am 5ft 9 my BMR (the amount of calories they would feed you if you were unconcious in hospital, is what I think it was based on) is around 1800. I WFH so am as sedentary as can be, with no regular exercise is around 2100. I tend to set my calories at 1400, but I work them out over a week and dont care if I am over. I prioritize nutrition, so plenty of nuts, seeds, veg, protein and try to be under 100g of net carbs. All of which are metabolised differently to calorie counters predictions. Not sure if that last bit makes sense...🤔😀

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/11/2024 10:11

Ok worked it out via google

Around 1300 again but I put in starting weight in feb. Told me I was this - severely obese 🙀🥲

Obese yes. Def more then overweight

But severely obese I object to !!
