Can anyone post a link to the specific syringes they have purchased for the extra dose please?

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/10/2024 11:44

To all those worrying about plateaus and slow losses please try to remember that this is a long game. We did not wake up one morning suddenly fat and we will not wake up one day suddenly thin (although wouldn't that be amazing. If anyone remembers the kids show 'The Queens nose' I'm still looking for the 50p piece that will let me make wishes).

Weight fluctuates up and down constantly by small amounts, it's affected by water, sleep, salt, heat, hormones and so much more) a slow week could just mean you're due on your period, or you did a bit too much exercise and your body is holding onto water to heal your muscles.

Hold firm, get a good nights sleep, drink plenty of water and give it time. If you keep following the plan you will lose the weight.

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/10/2024 11:50

This graph shows 63 days of daily weigh ins since I started dieting on 19th August. I started MJ on 5th September.

Bit zig zaggy but ultimately a downwards trajectory

Got these after seeing them on another post. Seem to work well!

After a horrible few days midweek of feeling nauseous constantly and having no appetite due to this (and having to force myself to eat) I weighed today and I’ve lost 1lb in week 7 (second 5mg dose). It just shows eating too few calories doesn’t equate to a big loss. I’m happy with that as had a 6lb loss last week. Can’t say I’m looking forward to this next 5mg injection if it’s going to make me feel like last week.

SW - 14st
CW - 12st 6
7 week total loss - 22lbs

Choux · 20/10/2024 12:38

@violetsunrise you don't have to take 5mg. You could do 3.75mg or 4mg by counting clicks.

You have lost 7lbs in the last two weeks. @InfoSecInTheCity s graph shows that there are ups and downs from weigh ins so your two week loss averaged is more representative of what you are losing per week. That's a great loss but possibly on the high side. Most medics say a healthy sustainable loss is 1-2lbs a week.

If I were you I would take a smaller dose, get rid of the nausea and know the trade off is a slower but healthier weight loss. We don't need to chase the big losses and suffer side effects in order to get them.

20bloodypounds · 20/10/2024 13:10

@SecondDesk I had bad heartburn at the beginning but omeprozole (you can get it OTC) sorted it out.

violetsunrise · 20/10/2024 13:15

@choux yes I’ve been thinking maybe a lower dose as that few days really weren’t nice. I was fine the first 5mg dose. I haven’t taken the next dose, been putting it off til later in the day when I’ve made a decision.

I’m not so bothered about what I lose now as I’ve lost the bulk of what I really wanted to. 15lbs off from todays weight would take me to the healthy BMI range but I’m not sure I want to get there now - would it suit my frame/build etc. Maybe another half stone and I’d be happy to try and maintain.

Oh the decisions!

I’m just grateful I started on MJ and that there’s this support network to bounce things off each other and pass on advice 😘

theluckiest · 20/10/2024 13:25

Thanks @Choux

I used a syringe and extracted 0.7ml which I've worked out is just over 3mg.
Happy with that. Hopefully, it'll bridge the week to the next shot of 5mg.

Have a great week everyone

20bloodypounds · 20/10/2024 13:25

I actually felt hungry, properly hungry, this morning for the first time in 7 weeks. It didn't take much to make the feeling go away but I'm definitely going up to the 5mg pen for my next order. I'm going to start on 3mg or 3.75 mg though and increase gradually. It is really interesting how we are all finding our own journey through the doses - it's such a contrast to the normal approach where we follow our GPs prescription even for drugs that are giving adverse side effects.

HOL2024 · 20/10/2024 13:57

On the topic of using past 30 days that is my intention doing 3.75 from a 5 pen, going to take 6 doses.

5 doses of 3.75 and then the last dose of what’s left on week 6 - I’m aware that it’ll be 35 days but I’m happy to take that risk.

FortunataTagnips · 20/10/2024 14:08

Is anyone on a lower dose than 2.5? I’ve done 6 at 2.5 and am still getting grim side effects some of the time.

Seldomseenkid · 20/10/2024 18:57

@FortunataTagnips yes me. 2.5 for the first week and I had side effects I was not willing to have again. Week 2-4 I had 30
clicks so half dose, barely any side effects and suppression was fine for me. Weeks 5-8 40 clicks so about 1.7 dose. No side effects and 1-2 pounds off a week.

SecondDesk · 20/10/2024 19:01

Thanks @20bloodypounds and @HippoPortlyMouse I'll give the anti heartburn suggestions a go.

Being a slow loser is frustrating because it still feels like a huge effort to eat fewer calories. I'm not getting massive suppression. I think I could eat normally. It is a real effort. I'm just keeping my eye on getting from obese to overweight.

I can't really tell where the weight has come off. It feels more like my legs and arms, definitely not my cortisol belly, no change there.

I'm thinking of moving my injection a day and trying intermittent fasting again. I did 36 hours before MJ, mostly for health benefits. Fast Mon 8pm to Wed 8am.

FortunataTagnips · 20/10/2024 19:11

@Seldomseenkid Thank you - that’s really good to hear. I’ll give that a go!

HippoPortlyMouse · 20/10/2024 19:15

You may just be one of those people who doesn't respond to mounjaro so quickly and need a higher dose @SecondDesk - it doesn't sound like you've had very good suppression so far and you're running on willpower - in which case, you're doing amazingly well!

alwaysscared · 20/10/2024 20:10

Argh!! I went on to 3.5mg on Friday. Yesterday suppression was great, today I'm hungry again 😫😫
WTF is going on?? I don't think it's working for me! The 2.5mg suppression was good for 2 weeks but then I just feel like I've been on a really restrictive diet, and I'm losing the motivation. I've lost a stone and a half in 6 weeks, which is great but I'm finding it hard!

Choux · 20/10/2024 20:18

@SecondDesk you have lost 16lbs in less than six weeks. I wouldn't call you a slow loser at all!

If you feel the suppression isn't there and you are doing it by willpower rather than lack of appetite then major props to you. But how much do you think you should be losing each week if you think you are a slow loser. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week after the initial whoosh of starting a diet. Losing weight faster than this can lead to hair loss and fatigue from lack of nutrients.

Choux · 20/10/2024 20:19

Actually I made a typo - you said last week you lost 18lbs in 5 weeks, 5 days. Sorry about that.

MetabolismLost · 20/10/2024 21:06

I’m not hungry, but today I just feel the need for the first time to have the taste of chocolate - but not actually eat it. First time since I started this I’ve “wanted” something for a whole day. Still not given in, but it is annoyjng!

20bloodypounds · 20/10/2024 21:32

@alwaysscared why do you think this isn't working for you? You have lost a stone and a half in 6 weeks. That is pretty incredible.

You feel hungry, but then what? Are you eating something and feeling full, or are you still hungry? Are you planning your meals? Are you snacking inbetween your meals?

I understand that you can feel anxious about this but I hope that you are managing to eat healthily.

alwaysscared · 20/10/2024 21:38

@20bloodypounds I am just really hungry after my tea. I'm sticking to my meals, I'm eating the same everyday (I find this easier) and the last couple of weeks, my weight loss is stalling and I'm going to sleep hungry. I get quite anxious and nauseous when I'm hungry (this used to be the trigger of my binge eating) and would eat until I was over full. I have a very complicated relationship with food, nausea, emetophobia and mental health. My OCD also played a big part, if I was able to eat and eat it meant I wasn't poorly. Very hard to explain.

SecondDesk · 20/10/2024 21:55

To quote myself. "Week 5, day 5 1 stone 4lb down. 2nd week of 5mg and still a bit hungry. I could definitely eat normally. This is a much harder effort than I thought it would be."

I'm 2lb up today but constipated. I have a lot of weight still to lose. I'm posting about it being slower because I hope it is encouraging for other people that don't have big lb drops. I am hungry, it's not effortless.

I looking forward to getting to my two stone weight loss.

20bloodypounds · 20/10/2024 21:59

@alwaysscared oh bless you x

All of that sounds very hard. But you are doing well. I have lost 13 pounds in the same period as you have lost 20 or more... My weight loss has stalled, but I am trying to take a long term view. I will keep to this and eventually I will lose weight. Some days it is hard, but when I look back it was only a few moments when it was hard, not ALL day.

Also it sounds like you are NOT binge eating. Stick to your meals, stick to what you know works for you.

HippoPortlyMouse · 20/10/2024 22:19

@alwaysscared I'm finding I'm getting really hungry after dinner as well. I'm definitely less hungry during the day, but after my (usually) biggest meal of the day I'm hungry an hour later! If I can't ignore it, I have a hot drink - tea or bovril/miso. That helps a little, lets me stave off the pangs till bedtime usually. If not, I'll try a hard boiled egg or a mini babybel for some protein.
