We went to a Xmas market this weekend, they had one of those stalls that sell the ridiculous cakes that are like a layer of brownie then a layer of cookie then a layer of cake then a whole fondant fancy and half a tub of celebrations, cut into slices as big as your head.

I chose one with my DD and agreed that she'd half then freeze the rest and I'd just have a bite of hers so I could taste it.

You know what, I was expecting to have a bite then give in and go for the other half but that bite was enough. I got to experience it, enjoy it, but not feel like I needed to eat it all.

That's the approach I'm taking for Xmas. I will have a roast potato with my turkey and veg, but I won't have a heap of them, the same for the yorkies and pigs in blankets and Xmas pudding. I'll enjoy what I have but the majority of my plate will be veg.

Doggymummar · 16/12/2024 08:30

Great attitude. I had a mince pie on Saturday, cut into quarters and ate a quarter every hour or so. 267 cals but spaced out and delicious. There are four in a box. Went for a shower and my skinny oh had eaten the other three! Rather than being mad I just thought bless him. Saved me 900 calories,!

Itisallgoingtobeok · 16/12/2024 08:41

@Doggymummar - you are doing really well to keep going. I had only recently heard about set points, but the more I read the more I think there is something in it. I was 15stone when my marriage collapsed and there was major trauma. I wonder if my body is going to fight me all the way on this one.

Just copying this over from the other thread:

I said I'd pop back and let folk know whether the hard twist method worked with this more recently bought pen. My partner twisted it last night for me and it worked! I was very pleased I love feeling thrifty and it means I now have 2 full pens lined up (medexpress always ask me to order quite early and I'm nervous to let it run on too far in case they say I can't order).
So I've now finished taking 3.75 from a 5 pen. I have another 5 to start next week and I'm planning to do 45 clicks for Christmas week, then 50 clicks for at least the next couple of weeks.
I have a 7.5 pen for after that and who knows what dose I'll take from that next year, but it's nice to know that I'll have options.

Planning a big push of good eating and exercise this week to make space for a bit of a relaxed week next week.

Bumblebeehum · 16/12/2024 08:52

Morning! Glad to hear so many will be around for the new year losing, hopefully everyone who reaches target will pop back and let us know how maintenance works out.

i was thinking this weekend about my final target (as yet undecided) and obviously we all think of ‘just about in normal’, but I was wondering what beyond that would be like - a BMI of 21 or 22?! It blows my mind that could be possible ( 3 months ago my BMI was over 40!)

3lbs off this week, 39 in total, 15 shots, REALLY want to hit 3 stone by Christmas, can it be done?

Im not pausing anything over Christmas, I’m keeping my dose the same, but plan to have a relaxed Christmas Day eating a few nice things but only tiny portions. I’m worried if I let go, then I’ll struggle to bounce back.

lespameo · 16/12/2024 10:10

Weigh in day today and after being stuck between 11st 13 and 12 stone for what felt like forever, I weighed this morning and I'm 11st 11 so a good 2/3lb loss this week. Hoorah! Not bad considering I've had my works do where I drank quite a bit of wine...
the 5mg suppression is working well for me so I won't be moving up to 7.5mg anytime soon. I have 1 stone 4 left to lose and happy to continue on this until spring time (my existing pen supply will see me through to March) and if I hit my target before then, then I'll reduce the dose to 2.5mg and maybe inject fortnightly instead of weekly. Who knows!

sylv165 · 16/12/2024 10:13

Is anyone with Numan? I had an order approved on 7th December and was sent a Royal Mail tracking number but the tracking didn’t seem to work. I’ve still not received it and keep going round in circles with an AI bot trying to resolve it, then being referred to a real person who will apparently respond within 5 days but so far nothing. Getting a bit frustrated now!!

20bloodypounds · 16/12/2024 12:03

sylv165 · 16/12/2024 08:23

I won’t really be able to do that I’ll jab on Monday and Wednesday is usually the day I feel the highest suppression. I tend to only be able to eat very small amounts of food and any more makes me feel quite ill, so that’s why I was thinking if delaying my jab a few days until Boxing Day so that suppression is minimal on Christmas Day and I’ll be able to have some wine and enjoy a normalish portion of food. And also not draw unwanted attention from my family!!

I'm having the same dilemma. If I have my injection on schedule I'll have really high supression and won't want to buy any Chritmas food, let alone prepare it or eat it. I felt sick all day yesterday, which I think is MJ related. We were supposed to have friends over for lunch today but we had to cancel them as I'm still not feeling well enough to cook.

I also worry about other people noticing. We have a meal out planned with friends and the last time I saw them I was picking at tiny bits of food and not drinking. My dc will notice when they are staying, and last time I saw my in-laws I had been in bed for 2 hours becuase I felt unwell, and then only ate very small amounts. I think it is more likely that family will worry that I've got something wrong with me, and I don't want to do that to them. And I'm certainly not telling them about MJ!

I'm thinking now of delaying until boxing day, or maybe going back to 2.5mg (I've only recently gone up to 5mg). I'm pretty sure I can manage without too much excess - I'll possibly still have some supression. And it will be an interesting experiment to see how I manage my appetite...

MetabolismLost · 16/12/2024 12:14

I saw a 13 this morning!!! 2 and a half stone down, it made me very happy!

FlatStanley50 · 16/12/2024 12:28

Same christmas dilemma here. Injection day is a Monday so will be at peak suppression on Wednesday. I think I might do it on Xmas day itself - happy Xmas! I've accidentally gone up to 7.5 today - I could not get my last 5 pen to do the hard twist (and don't have any syringes). I had bought a 7.5 thinking I would do 45 clicks from it for the next couple of weeks as 5 has been a bit less effective the last few weeks, and then move up after Xmas. But I couldn't get the needle to work, and had to twist it all the way round to get it to work. So slightly dreading this week, I haven't jumped up that quickly this whole time. Actually if I go back to 5 next week (if I can get it to work), I should be OK to eat Xmas dinner. Dilemmas...
I'm on week 15 and I've lost 24lb. I am 2lb away from a healthy BMI. I think I am aiming for another 11lb overall - that will take me about 11 weeks at current rates (it has slowed down from the beginning). I'm going to have to switch suppliers soon too as I'm with MedExpress and they don't do maintenance - which I will need as I have yo-yo'd all my life. But quite happy at the moment as I've had to buy a belt for all my trousers. First belt I've ever owned!

Doggymummar · 16/12/2024 13:36

Some lovely stories from you all today. As someone who went off the rails last year, I say be kind to yourselves over Christmas and so what's best for you. I recommend having family onboard as mine thought I was dying last year with all the D and V and had words! But I appreciate that you might not want to. This year they know so it won't be so stressful. Last part on Wednesday then I can relax with loved ones and not pretend there's vodka in that tonic.

sylv165 · 16/12/2024 15:32

@20bloodypounds @FlatStanley50 I’ve been mulling over the Christmas dilemma today and I think what I am going to do is split my dose and take 2mg on Monday 23rd, then a second 2mg on Boxing Day. So I’m not going too far out of the routine and hopefully have enough suppression to not go mad, but not so much that i can’t eat, drink and be merry!

sylv165 · 16/12/2024 15:35

Also, I complained earlier about my Numan delivery. Obviously as soon as I had complained to them, the post man arrived and delivered it 🤦‍♀️😂. Anyway, it is a subscription service so I went on to cancel my next order (as I’ll be shopping around to get it cheaper) and when I tried to cancel they offered me a discount from £229, down to £98. Bargain!!

Celebrating all the 11 and 12's showing on the scales!! I'm looking forward to joining you but still a long way off (in the 14's).

Wondering how many September starters will be left with me long into the New year?

I will 🙋‍♀️ long way to go yet x

I havent posted in a while is anyone on 4mg? I spent about 6 weeks on 3.75 and on my secong week of 4 suppression is good and i seem to be loosing again after a stall.im hoping to stay on this dose as long as i can.
46lb down so far 🙂

InfoSecInTheCity · 16/12/2024 17:01

@Bumblebeehum I'll still be around for a good while yet 17lb left to get into healthy BMI but 40lb to hit what the calculators say is the ideal weight for my height. I suspect I'll be happy somewhere in between those 2 numbers but having never been anywhere near a healthy BMI, I have no idea what the right weight is for me.

Doggymummar · 16/12/2024 17:54

I'll still be around - I'm only half way their may two thirds. Not good with fractions! My first goal was 100lbs off and I have maybe 46 to go. Then reassess as to what a final goal might look like. At a pound a fortnight I might still be at it next Christmas. Please god no.

SpottyBumPony · 16/12/2024 17:55

I'll be around until next summer! 19stone starting weight so a looooong weigh (😆) to go.

I'm dosing as normal for Christmas, smaller portions of christmas dinner and I'll avoid the trashy type foods. I've bought some lush chocolate nuts and plan to make stuffed dates in dark chocolate.

Everyone in my life knows I'm taking MJ, friends, family and colleagues.

Same here, I was so sick they thought I had cancer or something so I had to come clean.

Yes I'm about to start taking 4mg ish (50 clicks) after Christmas week! I've been having pretty reasonable suppression on 3.75 but wearing off towards the last 2 days hence planning to go up to 4

EatingTillIDie · 16/12/2024 19:58

I think I've missed the memo on set points.... off to Google that

Itisallgoingtobeok · 16/12/2024 20:57

@EatingTillIDie - I think this may be a major problem for me. Not sure what to do other than ride it out.

Me! Just took my first 4mg last night after a good while on 3.75. So far so good 🤞

Orangesandlemons77 · 16/12/2024 21:07

I'm wondering if I might need to go down in dose from 10mg as really not hungry until about 4-5pm and eating maybe 1 meal a day (although today had a protein shake as well). I guess it would be cheaper also.

I am splitting the dose so 5mg twice a week, so might try e.g. 5mg every 5-6 days or so, or weekly instead and see how that goes.
