I feel quite emotional about all this. I've struggled with my weight since having children 25 years ago and felt I'd lost myself. I've lost a couple of stone many times and put it back on. On MJ I've lost two stone already and am ready to lose next 2 to get to a healthy weight. The difference is I know that I will NEVER face the misery of being 14 stone again because I now have something that works. Hallelujah!

Well done on your loss so far!

I am the same. Before I went on this, all diets I tried felt like a struggle and any weight loss was so difficult over the last few years. But now I am 11.5 st, and I feel like I can get to 10st something. It feels achievable now, whereas a few months ago, it all felt impossible.

HippoPortlyMouse · 22/11/2024 20:08

@SacreBleugh @Hildabaggins well done to both of you. I'm glad you're feeling so well with it! I... don't feel the same. I've lost over 2st and keep expecting it to stop.

I keep thinking how the early losses are easy and it gets harder the longer you're losing weight, how your body gets accustomed to it, metabolism slows down and all that... so am imagining it all stopping any time now. Not sure why I'm so pessimistic. Here's hoping time proves me wrong.

This post resonates with me so much! I have been losing and gaining the same chunk of weight all my life and felt powerless to keep it off.

I too feel I may continue to need support from MJ once I have lost the last stone (and only hope it remains accessible as a maintenance dose)

Interesting to read the protein chat. I have traditionally been a carbs fiend, I love carbs. But I've really shifted what I eat to much heavier protein weighting. I find the Graham's protein yoghurts pretty nice, and I can just about manage one pouch for breakfast, so that's 25g already. I think it certainly helps with energy as being on a vlcd previously has made me feel weak and listless but I seem to be avoiding that. I really like the little individual chicken satays for snacks now.

I usually love carbs but I have gone right off them since being on MJ. Like you I am also just filling up on protein.

My PT tells me that we need protein to build muscle. This seems like win-win as muscle naturally burns more calories than fat.

I’m on holiday, trying to be sensible with food options etc. delaying my jab for 3 days this week as didn’t want to bring it with me but the hardest thing for me is that I usually weigh everyday and the hotel doesn’t have a scales. I have no idea if I’m staying the same or going up.

What is the guidance for delaying your jab? I am in such a quandary about my up coming holiday, I don’t really want to take the pen with me and actually don’t want to be too suppressed when I am away but I will basically be missing a whole week.

Should I just carry on as normal? Should I titrate back up? I am currently on 7.5mg, I could move up to 10mg before my trip but am thinking of staying on 7.5mg.

@WonkyD in your shoes I’d just stay on same dose for your holiday? I feel like getting into the way of coming off for events just confuses my brain (never mind my body). But I have moderate suppression and minimal side effects…

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 23/11/2024 14:32

I've dipped off the threads a bit, but wanted to hop on for a little celebration - I've cracked the 90kg mark weighing in at 89.5 today!! That's 8.5kg off so far and my 2nd mini goal - first was 5% of my starting weight. I'm delighted!!

(Old money that's 15 st 6 down to 14 stone 1 ish).

Planning on sticking to the 5mg as it's working well.

Keep on going, losers!

I just took it as normal before I flew which was 5mg on the Saturday, flew I Tuesday and will do Tuesday night when I land back at home. I couldn’t be bothered to take it with me and with the time difference etc just felt easier.

20bloodypounds · 24/11/2024 22:17

I've been brave and gone up to 5mg. Feeling OK so far. On holiday so not weighing. Eating small meals and have had a couple of beers. Tonight I had half my beer and gave the rest to dh. Water was better.

HippoPortlyMouse · 25/11/2024 00:47

Doubly brave if you're on holiday, @20bloodypounds! Hope the increased dose comes free of side effects. Did you take a pen with you?

Tipster100 · 25/11/2024 05:42

Had a really busy week last week with too many meals out and have spent the time yo-yoing up and down the same 3 pounds. Am now going to have to concentrate on water all week and really trying to get down beyond where I've been. Also going to cancel a dinner or two in December if I can. It's so awkward turning down food people have cooked especially for you so I'd rather not go! Anyone else nervous about the next month? The cold is definitely not helping either. Traditionally I find this time hard anyway - I think I was a bear in my past life who had to eat a lot before hibernating.

InfoSecInTheCity · 25/11/2024 06:43

Monday weigh in and a 4lb loss this week, which was more than I was expecting.

Starting weight - 217.5 lbs
Current weight - 184.3 lbs
Total loss - 33.2 lbs

Week by week:
End of week 1 - 212.5 lbs
End of week 2 - 209.6 lbs
End of week 3 - 205.9 lbs
End of week 4 - 204.1 lbs
End of week 5 - 202.8 lbs
End of week 6 - 200.8 lbs
End of week 7 - 198.6 lbs
End of week 8 - 197 lbs
End of week 9 - 195.1 lbs
End of week 10 - 192.4 lbs
End of week 11 - 190.6 lbs
End of week 12 - 190 lbs
End of week 13 - 187.8 lbs
End of week 14 - 184.3 lbs

Have lost just over 15% of my bodyweight so far, going from BMI of 33 to 28.

20lb to go to hit my big target of a healthy BMI.

BaldricksWife · 25/11/2024 07:03

12 week check in, moved up to 10 last night.
SW 16-3
CW 13-5
40lbs down
Had nausea and burps but just kept going, I am 60yrs old.
Delighted 😁

EBoo80 · 25/11/2024 07:55

@Tipster100 been feeling similar this weekend with two big celebration meals with friends. For one at a friend’s house I brought a nice slaw with me (as a contribution to the spread) and made sure over half my plate was veg. But still feel like I’ve eaten a week’s worth of food today. December is going to be challenging, and I’m slightly wishing I had gone up to 7.5 rather than sticking at 5… I could keep the 5 for titrating down, and order another 7.5 now. Hmmm…

mimosa1 · 25/11/2024 09:35

IVe had a whoosh - after weeks of losing very slowly - 1.2kg off this week.

I spent the weekend at softplays, it feels like. The weather here was dire and the children were climbing the walls. On one of the days, we are there - and pre MJ there's no way I wouldn't have finished off the kids fries and paninis.

I still do feel that I'm not eating THAT much less - certainly not 8kg off in 2 and a bit months less. Something else must be going on.

That's why it's so hard to balance my poor hair and the rest of me! I'm going to wait to see what my bloods say but still.

halloweenscat · 25/11/2024 12:38

Hi, I am purchasing this week- what brand would be the best to go for please?

I was going to go for Boots as it's well known but it is so much more expensive than most of the others!

Thank you and I hope to join you soon.

I felt like you to start with, I went with asda online as I knew the name etc.. but changed for my 2nd pen.
I've used med express and zava.. my next is iq doctor then probably oushk..
I'm changing to get the cheap 1st time pens each time.. u can just show proof of your other pen and its fine..

Noshowlomo · 25/11/2024 13:26

@halloweenscat I’m with medexpress and find them great! Really good customer service. I know there is a lot out there though, like Asda, and a few listed above.
If you go with Medexpress I’ve got a code where you get £40 off your first order so if you want my code send me a DM 😊
Ive lost a stone in 5 weeks and super happy (just another 5 stone to go 🥴🥴)

Good luck whatever you decide x

Yes!!! Had a tricky week last week too with meals out and a party and stalled. I felt so triumphant the previous week getting into smaller trousers but have really upset myself last night looking back on photos from July- I just feel so sad that I looked like that and lied to myself for so long about how unhealthy I was. I know I have made huge strides but last week felt like I could slip back so easily. I feel so much better about myself but when I look back at photos of outfits I thought looked good all I can see is a moon face and pouter pigeon. So pulling my (better fitting) big girl panties on today and getting back to counting calories and more exercise.

Bumblebeehum · 26/11/2024 08:30

Forgot to check-in yesterday, had a difficult weekend with two events involving food which proves I can't refuse if something is put in front of me. Confused
Do we know how long food takes to digest now? I still feel I'm carrying Saturday's meal, is that possible?
Only 1lb off this week.

Have a light eating day, plenty of veg and water, veg soup or casserole etc to make sure you get enough fibre to get your digestion working and lots of water to flush it out.
