Another 2lbs off this week, taking me to 19lbs in total and about half way to my goal weight in 9 weeks. I know it is slower than others, but in the past weight loss has felt virtually impossible for me so I’m delighted and amazed that this is actually still working!

I’m still on 3.75 and having good suppression and minimal side effects, so will stick with that for a while.

HippoPortlyMouse · 20/11/2024 11:24

@sylv165 2lbs a week is not slow, it's excellent, healthy progress. Much over that and you're risking significant muscle loss and not fat.

I think we can all get a bit hung up on the big loss weeks, or the few who really do lose fast, but those of us steadily plodding along are doing great work too. I am a plodder. I have never lost more than 3lbs a week, it was 0.5 last week, it's generally somewhere in between.

@SwiftiesVSLestat sounds like we are on a similar journey, I’m coming up to a 3stone loss but at 16 stone 6 I’ve still got a looooong way to go. I’d order the 7.5mg if it’s affordable, plan to take 5mg but knowing you can increase if you need to.

Some of my friends are doing MJ too so we’ve got a chat going on. I’ve always been the ‘fat friend’, since we met at 17 I’ve been the big girl. They are both 6ft tall (I’m 5’7) and have slowly put weight on over the years. My friend Z though said yesterday that she has lost a stone and now weighs 16’11. I didn’t know her weight before, because she’s tall she doesn’t look like she would weigh that. But then I realised … I’M NOT THE FAT FRIEND. God I know that’s bitchy and I don’t mean any harm to Z but I’ve never, in my life, not been the biggest person.

I had tears in my eyes when I realised.

That resonates a lot with me - it is very emotional looking at these lifelong identities we've had and seeing that there could be another way of living.

I went through this when I lost a lot of weight 3 years ago. It was the first time I'd not been that person too and was incredibly liberating. It felt like a new lease of life. Years of feeling invisible and not worthy - ugh.

SwiftiesVSLestat · 20/11/2024 14:15

@SpottyBumPony yes it sounds like similar journeys.

and I get what you are saying. I have 2 close colleagues. We all work very closely together. They are stunning and lovely figures and I always feel like the fat one. And the frumpy less stylish one.

I already feel better with the weight I have lost. I am feeling less like ‘fat’ is not the first thing people see when they see me.

sylv165 · 20/11/2024 14:59

I totally identify with what you are both saying @SwiftiesVSLestat and @SpottyBumPony. I used to be fairly slim until maybe 10 years ago, and since gaining weight I feel like that is all people see of me. However, I loosing weight I have also come to realise that people really don’t think about me or look at as much as I think! No one has really noticed that I have lost weight, except for my mum who finally noticed a couple of weeks ago. Presumably they also don’t notice when I gain weight, whereas I always assumed it was the first thing they see!!

alwaysscared · 20/11/2024 17:47

I completely get the fat friend thing. I was always slim in school and up to the age of about 25, I'm 42 now.
I hate the way I look so much that it definitely contributes to my agoraphobia. I live in my home town and hate seeing people from school, so I just avoid going out. I know of a couple of people (Nobheads) who have mentioned how much weight I have put on to my brother, who is fiercely protective of me and won't hear a bad word about me, bless him. I mean, why would you make that comment at all??

SpiderMother · 20/11/2024 17:51

In case this is of use to anyone else...

I am with Asda. I realised today that they stop prescribing at BMI 25 whereas some providers will go to 23.5. I am hoping to get to a BMI of around 23 to give myself some leeway so I investigated switching my provider. I had thought you could do this but I've been told that I won't be accepted to move as my BMI is no longer over 30.

I'm kind of gutted not to have realised this before as I'm expecting that last bit to be the hardest and am going to have to carry on without the MJ support. I know I need a way of managing maintenance without MJ but I think that's different to actively continuing to lose weight.

85reasons · 20/11/2024 18:11

@SpiderMother I think there are a few providers who will let you switch at way under 30 - I just ordered with IQ Doctor for the first time at BMI 28, and I'm also with Oushk and they take people even at under 25 BMI (as long as you have a clear prescribing history) for their maintenance plans. I'm sure there will be others...

SpiderMother · 20/11/2024 18:41

@85reasons ah, thank you. I'll investigate. I thought I had misunderstood and was really annoyed.

HippoPortlyMouse · 20/11/2024 18:47

@85reasons ooh, please can you tell me what the ordering process with IQ doctor is like? I was thinking of shifting to them as well. Do they need pictures/ID/videos?

85reasons · 20/11/2024 18:50

@HippoPortlyMouse I had to do a photo (front and side) - they also refused to send me a pen for a couple of weeks as they said my last prescription didn't run out till shortly after then - found that a bit surprising as you don't get that with Oushk but it didn't matter. With Oushk you can buy two pens at once I think..

Other than that it was all very straightforward!

HippoPortlyMouse · 20/11/2024 19:04

Thanks @85reasons! Sounds pretty straightforward. I just did photos today as wanted to see if there was a noticeable change since I started. My pot belly is much reduced, I was really surprised at the change.

I'm mid-way through a pen so I might see if Oushk come out with some truly amazing Black Friday deal next week before ordering.

MissBPotter · 20/11/2024 19:17

Hi all I lost another 2lbs this week so I’m really happy. 1stone 6 down overall. Close to 1.5 stone! Still aiming for that half a stone to be gone by Xmas and I’m on track. Would be so amazing to be 2 stone down by then.

feel like I’ve eaten a big dinner tonight but it’s probably a fraction of what I’d have had before!!

I'm waiting for that too - eagle eyes on their referral code drama 👀😆

MissBPotter · 20/11/2024 19:20

Oh also still on 2.5 just because I thought I’d stick with it as I’m still losing. I might try 5 next time. I’ve had a few episodes of diarrhea/constipation on the 2.5 so a bit nervous for 5. But overall been fine, would say quite minimal side effects.

85reasons · 20/11/2024 19:21

Having said that @HippoPortlyMouse i got a 10mg pen for £131 including shipping which was pretty unbeatable!

Great results especially on a 2.5mg pen still! I moved up quite slowly up to 5mg as I found it a bit of a shock, although weirdly the transition from 5mg to 7.5mg was really straightforward with no side effects.

Orangesandlemons77 · 20/11/2024 19:43

Oushk seem to have PINK25 atm until 28/11 for £25 off if of use to anyone

HippoPortlyMouse · 20/11/2024 19:57

Oh wow @85reasons I don't think Hira will be able to beat that! 😆

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/11/2024 19:59

Just realised I'm over half way towards my goal of reaching a healthy BMI.

That an incredible chart @InfoSecInTheCity !

Morecoffeeforme · 21/11/2024 12:05

I’ve steadily lost 2lb per week since starting in September and though I was initially disappointed in no big losses I’m glad it’s coming off steadily.

The lack of food noise has absolutely changed my life. I’m not constantly obsessing about what I’m going to eat next. I can’t quite believe it.

Im 5ft8 and now 13st 4 which has made such a difference and I’m now fitting in size 14 clothes again.

Im on the 7.5mg which I’m pleased with although I always have a dicky tummy and feel nauseous for the first few days after a dose

InfoSecInTheCity · 21/11/2024 12:31

@Morecoffeeforme were the same height and weight. I am obsessed with my collarbones, or more accurately with the fact I can feel and see them. I can't remember the last time that was the case. I'm also at least one chin less than I was a couple of months ago, it's lovely isn't it.

Hildabaggins · 21/11/2024 13:21

Only 1lb off for me this week, which is disappointing as I’d moved up a dose. I weighed 1lb less when I weighed on Sunday too. Oh well. 1lb off is better than 1lb on.

My BMI is currently 27.1, I’m so close to it being 26.something. I’ve had to get out an old pair of jeans as the jeans I was wearing were falling down all the time.

alwaysscared · 21/11/2024 13:25

@InfoSecInTheCity I'm the same with my collarbone!
Not seeing much come off my stomach though, which is frustrating!
Changed up my lunch today and had Longley Farm cottage cheese (they only had fat free 🙄), a boiled egg, romaine lettuce leaves (I use these to make cottage cheese wraps!), cucumber and carrot sticks. 205 calories and I'm quite satisfied, although it's jab day tomorrow so feeling a little hungrier.
29.5lbs down so far, a long way to go. 6 more lbs and I will see 15 on the scales, something I haven't seen for many years!
