End of week 10, exactly 2 stone off. Just done my third dose of 4.5mg.
My necklace hangs lower and towels now fit around my body, which is great. Other than that I can't really see any difference.

SybillaB · 15/11/2024 18:11

Going to take my 1st dose of 5mg tonight. First 4 weeks I lost 6lb. I decided to continue on 2.5 mg and lost 3lb. I went on holiday so missed a week but my appetite still was suppressed and I didn’t gain any weight.
Even though it is a slow process for me I feel it is a positive change in habits and that at some point my body will realise it can let go of the fat it’s hanging on to.

SpiderMother · 15/11/2024 20:10

I finished week 10 yesterday. I lost 1 pound this week which makes 22.7 lbs since I started mounjaro and 28.7 in total. Over 2 stone!!!

But...

Since Wednesday I've had some stomach pain and having read into it I'm really worried it might be gallstones. And now I'm not sure what to do. I've delayed my injection that was due last night, but I'm really struggling to find any sensible information about what to do. The leaflet with my pen talks about it being a risk but then doesn'tt say whether you can carry on taking it or not. Its not a really bad pain which is what people describe, its a low level ache and sometimes its not there at all, but its in the right place from what I read. I'm actually quite scared. I spoke to my GP before starting MJ but I still feel embarrassed.

20bloodypounds · 15/11/2024 20:43

@SpiderMother I could have written your post a few weeks ago, I had low level pain and it made me worry (especially in the middle of the night). I delayed my injection for a couple of days, I made sure I drank lots of water, and I started eating 4 or 5 prunes every day. I wouldn't have said I was particularly constipated, but the prunes got things moving and since then I've felt so much better. No stomach pain, no tender gut.

Gallstones are always a risk when you're losing weight, it's one of life's cruel jokes that being overweight can cause gallstones, and so can losing weight.

1st step is to seek medical advice so get a doctors appt and have them listen to the symptoms and give you a diagnosis.

One thing I would say is that my gallstones did not present as stomach ache and it's not common from what I've read that they do, unless we are understanding stomach ache as slightly different.

The pain for me was further up, near bra band level on the right hand side of the torso and through to the same spot on my back. I think of stomach pain as being lower down near belly button level.

SpiderMother · 15/11/2024 20:50

@20bloodypounds I'm hoping that's the case with me. Its definitely low level/tender rather than anything worse, but I'm aware of it if you know what I mean. I'm delaying and seeing what happens over the weekend, I think I can be up to 4 days late and miss a whole week without needing to restart.

@InfoSecInTheCity - I think I will need a doctor's appointment on Monday to be honest, I should have called today but I was hoping it would go away. I suspect I've not described it well but its top of my stomach just below ribs and more on the right, which to me doesn't sound promising. Its only very minor though, not agonising like I've seen described.

I don't want to have to stop now or to have caused myself medical problems, I was so happy to finally have made progress with weight loss, as you say it does feel a bit of a cruel joke.

I was 255lb back in 2013, I think I was probably heavier at some points before then but avoided the scales so I wouldn't know for sure. 2013 was when I was TTC and I needed to lose weight to get pregnant.

You're doing well @alwaysscared , it's coming off at a good healthy rate and you just need to settle in and let it continue to happen.

I'm honestly reaching the point of a diet where I start getting bored of what I'm eating and missing certain textures of food, like crisps, there's nothing in the low carb, healthy food range that really does a good job of mimicking Walkers Salt & Vinegar crisps.

Think I need to spend a bit of time this weekend mooching round a supermarket to find some new options to vary it up a bit.

MissBPotter · 16/11/2024 07:37

@InfoSecInTheCity been trying to think of something that could help with craving crisps but no luck really! There are some crisps made of lentils that are a little healthier. Or maybe just have a couple of your fave crisps but not a whole pack? I found I was able to have just one or two crisps at a gathering before. Went to a birthday party last night and didn’t have any, but I did have some cake. I think my first time eating any cake since I started MJ and I had a lot less than I would have before, but I still feel a bit bad about it. Was still in a deficit though.

Especially as I am in a total stall this week. Feel like I am heading towards either a gain or maintain this week.

I was so busy I forgot to jab for two nights this week so delayed my injection by two days! I guess that might be partly the reason as well.

any tips for stalls? Maybe I need to get out for some long walks with the dog this weekend.

Tipster100 · 16/11/2024 08:07

Well don't let your crisp craving get the better of you like I did last night. I went out with the girls and had some not very pleasant cava. Crisps came along and was hungry so ate them. Then a small supper. Spent the night being sick and feeling very cross with myself for being such an idiot. I haven't had any side effects for weeks so got a bit blasé and paid for it big time. Am out today with friends for lunch and am going to have to find something very plain on the menu.

In more positive news I lost a pound last week (on one of my alternating low loss weeks that I have) so pleased to get a result. 19lb down. Obvs I'm two pounds down today after turning my stomach inside out but don't think that counts.

5 weigh ins until Xmas for me. Hoping for 5lb loss so I can see a new number on the scales.

Tipster100 · 16/11/2024 08:14

Well done to everyone for the losses this week - and to those who didn't lose this week, hope next week it will show and come off for you . I'm just starting to see a difference now. I went to work in an outfit yesterday that was just a little big suddenly and instead of looking smart I looked really awful and saggy. Am going to have to put it away - forever hopefully.

EBoo80 · 16/11/2024 08:47

@InfoSecInTheCity I like salt and vinegar snack a jacks?
I also am still having the odd packet of crisps when I really fancy them. The small multipack bags aren’t very high in calories. One of my favourite things about Mounjaro is being able to have a cupboard full of those for the kids without finding myself scoffing them. I used to make kids only have ready salted because I could resist them!

HOL2024 · 16/11/2024 08:48

Weigh in day today and surprised at what’s going on. I made a conscious effort to go the gym this week so that’s probably made a difference.

starting weight - 230.8
Week 1 -6.8lbs (2.5)
Week 2 -2.7lbs (2.5)
Week 3 -4.1lbs (2.5)
Week 4 -3.1lbs (2.5)
Week 5 -4.1lbs (2.5 bonus of 3.33)
Week 6 -4.1lbs (3.75)
Week 7 -2.6lbs (3.75)
Week 8 -2.7lbs (3.75)
Week 9 -1.7lbs (5)
Week 10 -5.3lbs (5) 5th dose from 5 pen
Total loss -37.2lbs
Current Weight - 193.6lbs

Will be using the 6th dose today at 5 and have another 5 pen in the fridge.

Was a size 20 and enjoying buying some size 14 tops and 16 bottoms. I’ll be away next Saturday returning on the Monday so will be 2 days late with my jab next week.

sylv165 · 16/11/2024 09:04

@InfoSecInTheCity i have become slightly obsessed with roasted chickpeas. They are most certainly NOT crisps, but I do find they satisfy that need for something crunchy and savoury without making me feel too guilty

theluckiest · 16/11/2024 09:25

Morning all

After a brilliant start, losing 5lbs in the first week and a regular 1 or 2 pounds since, this is the third week where I've lost absolutely nothing.

It's so disheartening. I haven't changed anything!! I'm eating better, no snacking, still feeling fuller more quickly. But the loss has just...stopped.

I've lost a stone since Sept which is great but have absolutely no idea what's going on. Drinking loads more water, exercising, tracking calories (it's around 1400 per day), I'm not due a period .WTF is happening??!

I'm really down about it. This was going to be the thing that actually worked for me and now that's not even working. 😫

HippoPortlyMouse · 16/11/2024 09:30

@theluckiest I've had the same, lots of us have - I really understand the disheartening feeling when you're doing everything the same, you know you're eating in a deficit, you know the Mounjaro is working and yet... scales won't budge.

It will shift. It really will. It's just an absolute slog to get through! To try and break the stall I had a couple of days where I ate more - up to TDEE instead of under it, and that seemed to be the turning point, although it could just be coincidence.

theluckiest · 16/11/2024 09:46

Thanks @HippoPortlyMouse. Slog is the word!.

Yeah, I've just been reading the slower losing thread on here. Sounds like there's lots of us out there, plodding on. This place is a godsend for these slightly rubbish moments.

I keep saying to myself - It's a marathon, not a sprint!!

I agree with this - I would definitely have the crisps if I wanted them; but I'm making a big effort to not feel like I'm restricting myself overly. The beauty of Mounjaro for me is NOT having to feel like I can't even let myself have a small amount of something because it would lead to overeating it or thinking 'right that's it, I might as well forget the whole thing' about trying to lose weight.

I've had cake, crisps, chocolate etc - but only really small amounts because I just don't want to go have a lot! Mostly I'm eating really healthily and focusing on cooking from scratch rather than takeaways, and trying hard to get out of obsessing about having to keep carbs out of my diet completely.

EBoo80 · 16/11/2024 09:56

@theluckiest how frustrating for you. Another group I’m on people swear by ‘calorie cycling’ to break a stall: so doing your calorie deficit across a week but with a mix of higher and v low cal days.
But also lots of tales of plateaus breaking with a big loss. I had that after nearly a month and it felt amazing.
I also read somewhere (maybe here, sorry if I’m stealing anyone’s wisdom) that plateaus can be your body adjusting, by redistributing weight around your body, so that you change shape if not an overall loss. I found that helpful.

I had this in my second month, and losses have generally slowed down massively since the first month. I am definitely NOT seeing any more weeks where I suddenly drop 3lb!

I went through a few weeks where I was getting so fixated on the fact there hadn't been a shift that I started eating less to try to sort it - and that just seemed to make the scales stick more. Since then I've tried to consciously let go of it a bit, trust in the overall downward trajectory, and have occasional days of eating more calories, and the scales do seem to be moving (slowly) down again.

Don't give up - we're all moving in the right direction!

SwiftiesVSLestat · 16/11/2024 15:07

Just checking in.

Just started my 3rd pen (2nd 5mg pen) and down 4lb this week. All the steps I have added seem to have helped.

SW 20st 10lb
CW 18st 2lb

I would love to be under 18 stone by next week! Finger crossed.

Itstartedinbarcelona · 17/11/2024 01:17

@acaciabluebell how are you feeling now. I had a similar experience. I had slightly more than 5mg last week and was really ill and moved to 7.5mg this week as had already bought the pen and am still feeling rough - constant nausea and sulphur burps. I’ve lost 18lbs in 9 weeks and have a lot more to lose (5 stone) so don’t want to give up. I can’t keep feeling like this though. Has anyone gone back a dose? Am considering counting clicks to 5mg next week.

It lasted about 24 hours of being intensely unwell, I had to take quite a few doses of imodium to stop the severe diarrhea. I now feel close to normal-ish. I jabbed on Wednesday night and I was sick from Thursday night to Friday night and was feeling better by Saturday morning.

I'm really hoping this doesn't happen again because it was pretty severe. If it does I think I will reduce my dose for sure. I might do 6.25mg. 5mg wasn't working for me so I don't think I'll go back that low. I still have quite a bit left to lose as well. Hope you feel better soon x
