Well done @MissBPotter! What exercise have you been doing? I haven’t been doing much beyond walking a bit more for various reasons, but I have a bit more time now so going to start taking it a bit more seriously. I’m thinking maybe alternating kettle bells with c25k. They do a 6 week transformation programme at one of our local gyms that I am really keen to sign up to, but I’m too scared!!

That sounds good @sylv165
just before I started MJ I had started running, but I really struggled to run once I started the jabs, for some reason. I may take it up again at some point. But mostly weights, we have a bit of a home gym set up in the garage, been enjoying that a lot and taking it more seriously, aiming for progressive overload or whatever they call it! And other than that just walking really. I do think it’s important as muscle loss is a risk. And that would make it more likely to pile the weight back on once I stop the jabs which I really don’t want, plus it’s bad for you in other ways I think.

@EBoo80 happy is the best look ever Grin

20bloodypounds · 06/11/2024 16:05

dh has been away for a few days and it has been nice not to have to think about food and cooking. I've been pretty healthy but eating leftovers, soup or eggs, or things from the freezer.

I normally love meal planning and cooking but with MJ my interest has waned a bit. However the weekly veg box delivery forces me to find some inspiration. This week I've got sweet potatoes, butternut squash and rainbow chard to use (as well as all my usual staples). A sweet potato and peanut curry was a recent and delicious addition to my repetoire, might try that again.

Orangesandlemons77 · 06/11/2024 16:26

I like butternut squash in a curry with red peppers

sylv165 · 06/11/2024 16:38

Ooo @20bloodypounds that curry sounds delicious! I’ve been staying with my parents since starting in MJ while we get some work done on our house, so it has been quite tricky to cook what I want and eat when I want. We are finally moving back home at the weekend so really looking forward to having more control over my diet.

I have veg box envy. Mine is all celeriac and cabbage at the moment!

That sounds delicious! That might be what I need to get my mojo with cooking back. Since starting MJ I just haven’t fancied cooking even though I usually really enjoy it. I have liked some of the meals I’ve cooked and particularly really into steak at the mo which I wasn’t previously but I bloody love a curry or dhal. Maybe a veg box might do the trick or failing that, considering Gousto which we used to love.. feeling a bit bad on DH that the nights I’m meant to be cooking I’m chucking a piece of salmon in the oven and leaving him to figure out what to put it with while I have a bit of veg. If we did Gousto I could potentially half my portion and save the other for lunch the next day as I’m struggling with protein during the daytime!

sylv165 · 07/11/2024 07:58

Finally someone has noticed! My mum said last night that I looked like I had lost a bit of weight, then this morning said actually you have lost A LOT of weight. I’m generally hiding under big jumpers and wide leg trousers at the minute, with a view to stepping out of my chrysalis around March time like a toned, svelte butterfly. That’s the plan anyway 🤣

EBoo80 · 07/11/2024 08:06

@sylv165 i have a vision of you removing a giant winter puffy coat to reveal a clingy ballgown in the middle of ASDA!

sylv165 · 07/11/2024 08:14

@EBoo80 now there’s a plan! I shall order invites 🤣

EBoo80 · 07/11/2024 09:04

Has anyone on this thread gone beyond 5 yet in dosage? I’m having a fine time on 5 and losing, so not in a rush, but need to order next pen soon and interested in where everyone is at. (I know many have stayed sub-5, as well).

I took first 7.5 last week. I have had few side effects and so have gone up a dose every month. Usually feel that suppression is wearing off after 5/6 days but that has not been the case so far this week (still time though I guess)

@EBoo80 I started 7.5mg on Saturday night. I much prefer it to 5mg. I've had no side effects on the higher dose and have lost 1.5lb already whereas I felt grotty on 5mg and stalled for about three weeks. Good suppression but I'm still able to eat small meals. The most eye-opening thing for me was my husband offered me a bowl of crisps while I was watching coverage of the US election on Tues night - I have always been a crisp monster, I love them - and I literally couldn't eat them!

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 07/11/2024 11:23

I injected 3.75 yesterday as the last couple of 5 injections have made me feel so awful. I still have a slight bit of nausea but way way better which is a relief.

The nausea could also be down to the fact that I totally over ate last night and had to proper myself up on pillows to sleep.

OvaHere · 07/11/2024 12:05

@EBoo80 I went up to 7.5 this week. I was a bit worried because I had a rough week on my last 5mg but weirdly this week has been much better re side effects. However two things I've done differently are move my injection site from stomach to thigh and have gone back to the gym after a 2 week break (I have an unfounded theory that maybe it metabolises a bit better when I exercise).

HippoPortlyMouse · 07/11/2024 13:49

Grrr, scales. Since starting MJ, the numbers have been gently dropping. Then I had 10 days of no change, then lost 2lbs overnight. Now had another 10 days of no change.

It's not even really a stall (because I did lose those 2lbs in the middle), it's just irritating. I really, really want another 2lbs off to get to a 2 stone loss!

I found my weight from 10 years ago - it's about what I am now. Which is also what I was 7 years ago. I've been up and down in between those times. I wonder if my body's hit the point where it says "no more loss" and really wants to cling on to every gram of fat and that's why nothing's shifting easily?

Anyone else with similar?

GoldieLocks09 · 04/11/2024 03:12

Have really been getting on well with 3.75mg over the last few days, good suppression, no side effects really other than the sulphur burps which I’ve actually grown to be ok with - it’s as though when I have them I know it’s working 😂 and I’m down 18lbs since starting MJ on 24th September and down overall 34lbs since October last year after having baby #2.

I’ve seen people talking about their periods on MJ, mine are pretty irregular due to PCOS but I’ve always found that my weight plays a big part - losing a little bit kickstarts them again. I hadn’t actually had a period since after my last baby so about a year, since starting MJ and losing the first 7-10lbs it’s back, but I’ve been ‘on’ for the last month pretty consistently. More of like a dark brown-ish blood most of the time with only a couple of days of what seems like fresh? Has anyone else experienced this?

It’s not causing me any pain and I’ve kind of just been rolling with it thinking that after not having one for almost 2 years due to baby then nothing that my body just needs a proper clear out?

Im doing well on 3.75 too 🙂 first week i was sick once but not sure if it was a bug! Ready to start my second month on this dose

sylv165 · 07/11/2024 14:24

@HippoPortlyMouse I’ve had a few weeks now of either staying the same or losing just 1lb. I have reached a weight that I was about 5 years ago (and stayed at that weight for a good few years before I really started to gain weight again). So I wonder if it is the case of the body remembering from last time - would tie in with the set point theory so makes sense. We just have to trust the process and keep on going!

HippoPortlyMouse · 07/11/2024 14:49

Thanks @sylv165 I'm glad it's not just me. I wondered about set point theory as well. It definitely feels like I've hit a bit of a wall despite keeping under TDEE, etc.

I am so glad for MJ because if I was doing this with willpower alone, I would have run out and caved in to the siren call of delicious carbs by now.

doodleschnoodle · 07/11/2024 14:56

NSV today: I was at toddler class with DD2 and we had to do some hopping (sleeping bunnies). Before I would have just been a bit careful and sort of rocked up and down, but I did a hop today and realised I can jump! So I was bouncing about like a mad thing Grin I hadn't even realised being so heavy was affecting me like that until today.

Same @HippoPortlyMouse. At this point I would definitely be saying f**k it and be ordering a takeaway, but that urge is tempered by MJ and it is keeping me on track

Orangesandlemons77 · 07/11/2024 15:25

I've just had the results of the blood tests after being on mounjaro for six weeks (bloods are for olanzapine which can cause metabolic problems)
I am pleased to say my blood pressure is down, weight is down 10kg, cholesterol is down to 4.7 from over 6, HB1AC down from 36 to 34, so that is all good. However my ALT liver enzymes are slightly raised.

Anyone else had similar? I have read this may be due to weight loss, the GP says could be natural fluctuations and it has been normal in the past but going to have another test in a month.

I am happy about the other things though, I thought I might have to go on statins previously because my cholesterol was raised, etc.

I'm feeling similar, I'm so close to the 2 stone number and just keep hovering around it.

Have to keep reminding myself that it will happen and to be patient.
