I live in jersey dresses so can wear them up or down 2 sizes generally. I started as about a 20/22 and am currently wearing size 18 if I buy anything new but my size 20s are still fine just a bit baggy on the boobs.

I did re-buy a dress I love in a size 14 because I didn't want to risk it going out of stock as the brand don't replenish so once it's gone it's gone and I'd have been left hunting for a second hand version. I can get into it but it's snug.

EBoo80 · 04/11/2024 11:56

Yes I gave up and sold all my old pre-kid slimmer clothes last year. Annoying!
i used to hate clothes shopping while bigger. Maybe a wee morale boosting trip to a shop to buy one item that makes me feel positive would be worthwhile.
TBH even if I do stay on for another couple of months, I’m not convinced I’ll have a radical change in clothes size. At my skinniest (the only time I’ve been a healthy BMI) I was still a 12.

InfoSecInTheCity · 04/11/2024 13:28

I was in a size 16/18 when I was 15 years old, I have never as an adult worn smaller than a size 18 clothing so I am approaching all new territory.

EBoo80 · 04/11/2024 11:44

I hope this isn’t insensitive for anyone struggling, but I wondered if those who have had significant losses are buying new clothes yet? I’m two stones down from my highest weight, and still wearing my size 16 clothes.

Really struggling to bring myself to buy smaller and because I’m tall and broad, old clothes aren’t falling off me (except some PJs that were oversized). But I realised one of the reasons few people have noticed is because I’m wearing baggy clothes all the time!

I've dropped one size down to a 16 but it's not enough to make my size 18's unwearable yet - probably because they were starting to verge on tight as I was edging towards a 20.

My goal is to get back to a 12 which is where I was in my early 40s. I have about 5 vacuum packs of clothing ranging from a 10-14 under the bed so as I go down I'll start pulling those out. Some things I'll probably decide to cull because I know certain clothes from my 30s won't suit me at nearly 50 but there's also jeans and other basics in there.

85reasons · 04/11/2024 14:05

Not insensitive at all @EBoo80 - it's hard to want to buy clothes in an 'in between' size when you think you'll want to lose more weight. I've had some size 14 stuff I'd grown out of that I'm enjoying fitting into again, but am holding off buying anything new in that size because I'd like to get to a 12...

HippoPortlyMouse · 04/11/2024 14:17

I've lost almost 2 stone by now and am still in all my old clothes. I was wearing 16s but I suspect I should have been in 18-20. There were a lot of things in my wardrobe I didn't actually wear because I was too fat for them. I can now get into some of those items, so I guess I'd have bought some if I didn't already have them there to wear?

I also noticed pyjamas becoming looser first! I think Father Christmas might bring me a nice new pair or two.

sylv165 · 04/11/2024 18:25

I’m not there yet but am really excited about buying new clothes. I’m hoping to be a size down by Christmas so will get a few nice party dresses to see my through the festive season. Then it is my birthday in Feb so will see where I’m at by then and treat myself!

sylv165 · 04/11/2024 20:39

Just saw a photo of myself from the weekend and I didn’t have a big fat moon face! I could see cheekbones and a chin!!

20bloodypounds · 04/11/2024 21:18

@sylv165 How fantastic! I really hope to get to a place where I am not telling dh to instantly delete his photos. He says "you look so lovely and happy and smilely". I only see the triple chin.

sylv165 · 04/11/2024 21:26

@20bloodypounds it is a pretty good feeling! Hope it comes round for you soon!

doodleschnoodle · 05/11/2024 08:42

Week 10, an uptick on the scales for me this week. Oh well, I knew last week's big loss was too good to be true.

10/09/2024 - 118.3kg, second dose 2.5 of MJ
17/09/2024 - 116.2kg, third dose 2.5 of MJ
24/09/2024 - 112.4kg, fourth dose 2.5 of MJ
01/10/2024 - 112.4kg, fifth dose 2.5 of MJ
08/10/2024 - 111.0kg, sixth dose 2.5 of MJ
15/10/2024 - 109.8kg, seventh dose 2.5 of MJ
22/10/2024 - 108.5kg, eighth dose 3.75 of MJ
29/10/2024 - 105.9kg, ninth dose 3 of MJ
05/11/2024 - 107.3kg, tenth dose

Loss - 15.2kg … a cinder block 🧱
Goal - to be in the healthy BMI range (70.3kg)

SecondDesk · 05/11/2024 12:37

Gain here too, 3lb on. I've remained on a calorie deficit the whole time.

I took the bonus dose last night and will get back to my normal dose on Friday or Saturday depending on suppression.

I am very bloated. I half expect to finish the week off in a loss over the last two weeks. I will optimise walking, water and fibre and will keep everything crossed.

20bloodypounds · 05/11/2024 14:37

@doodleschnoodle great milestone. I'm half a pound away from a weight in stones and pounds that matches my birthday (dd/mm). I know I'll get there but I'm impatient and I want it now!

Yay well done,!

I was trying to do a bit of a track back the other day and realised that when I was 15 I remember filling out a consent form for an MRI and I had to tick a box saying I was under 16 stone because that was the weight limit and I was not 100% sure I was under 16 stone. I knew I was close to or just above that. I ticked it because I was too embarrassed to say I was fatter than the weight limit.

Today I'm 13 stone 9.

The highest weight I can find an actual record of is from 2013 when I was 18st 3lb.

You can do it! Milestones are really important I think to break it all up.

@InfoSecInTheCity That's brilliant! You're doing so well. I have data on MyFitnessPal going back to 2011 or so, and it's really strange looking back on it. My goal weight of 135lbs is what I was at in 2012, and it feels almost unreal I could get there again, but also possible at the same time!

SpottyBumPony · 05/11/2024 18:04

@InfoSecInTheCity that’s amazing. I can remember being about 17 and lying about my weight so I wouldn’t be too heavy for an activity.

I’m all hither and dither today. About 11am I spotted the Reece’s Peanut Cups my mum had got me for Halloween and within 2 seconds they were going in my mouth. Then I ate a piece of leftover pizza. At lunch time I was going to have Greek yoghurt with fruit but had a cheese toastie!

DH and DS are having sausages for tea, I really don’t fancy them at all so will have my yoghurt.

I had my injection this time yesterday. I’ve also caught Hand Foot and Mouth from my darling child so have blistery hands - just perfect!

I need an early night.

Hildabaggins · 05/11/2024 19:05

I have suddenly started burping! I’ve burped loads today. I normally do my injection on a Thursday so I’m not sure why I’ve started burping so much today.

Did you eat more yesterday than you recently have been doing? Did you eat higher fat than normal? Or have you been more constipated the last few days ie your food is just sitting in your stomach as your digestion has slowed right down?

Hildabaggins · 05/11/2024 19:15

Oh maybe, I did have a bigger lunch than normal today.

sylv165 · 06/11/2024 09:10

7 weeks in and I am down to 11st 1lbs from a starting weight of 12st 2lbs. Finally lost my first stone, 1lb away from an overweight BMI, and 2lbs away from seeing a 10 on the scales. Feeling motivated for a good week - bring on the salad!!

MissBPotter · 06/11/2024 09:19

@sylv165 well done that’s great news!

I am happy this week, gone down another 2.5 lbs and about to do my next 2.5 jab.
Barely managed any exercise this week though, as have been travelling, so need to improve that to avoid muscle loss!! I can definitely see the difference in myself, had a pair of work trousers on yesterday that were really right at one point and now are really loose. One or two items are way too big now and especially pjs starting to fall down 😂

Week 1: 5lb loss
Week 2: 3lbs loss
week 3 2lbs loss
week 4 0.5 lbs loss
Week 5 3lb loss (was 5lb earlier in the week but somehow gained two lb in two days!!)
Week 6 2.5lb loss (on period this week as well)

total loss 16lb.

sylv165 · 06/11/2024 09:27

Well done @MissBPotter! What exercise have you been doing? I haven’t been doing much beyond walking a bit more for various reasons, but I have a bit more time now so going to start taking it a bit more seriously. I’m thinking maybe alternating kettle bells with c25k. They do a 6 week transformation programme at one of our local gyms that I am really keen to sign up to, but I’m too scared!!

EBoo80 · 06/11/2024 09:33

Great losses all round!
Inspired by chat on this thread earlier in the week I dug out a couple of dresses from pre-kids yesterday and went out for the evening wearing a dress I last fitted into in 2011. I looked deeply unfashionable and very happy 😆
