Can someone explain what this bonus dose is? Is it the amount left in the 2.5mg one after 4 rounds?

Yes correct..

You can either do the injection again same way, just will feel like your breaking the pen . People call it the hard twist.
Or you can use a syringe and take out what's left which will probably be a bit more than 0.6ml so will be a bit stronger than 2.5mg , probably about 3 or 3.75mg.
Me personally do the hard twist and just had 5 weeks of 2.5.

FelicityBeedle · 17/10/2024 09:02

I’ve just tried to quickly do my first 5mg before , but couldn’t get the pen to prime, I’ve left it for now and will try when I get back but it’s rather annoying

peonym · 17/10/2024 08:50

That's good news @ShiftAMountain did you go for 3.75?

Not yet. That was my 4th dose of 2.5mg and tomorrow I'll use a syringe for the bonus dose which will hopefully be a bit more as a partial step up to 5mg - which is my next one in order.

Off topic but can anyone recommend a good sports bra? I had some from fabletics but getting them on was a workout in and of itself...

So for week 4 I took my 2.5mg and the bonus dose to make 5mg

Im not very interested in food but im still starving. I actually woke up hungry in the night last night.

I’m starting to wonder if my pen is a dud. Does that happen?!

Snapespeare · 17/10/2024 11:42

I've ordered syringes online after asking in my pharmacy if they can sell me a few (no) and being overheard by the entire queue where a woman stopped me on the way out and advised against it - we then had a very frank conversation about our bowel habits in full hearing range of the rest of the queue.

Apparently a side effect of the medication is having no filter - or shame - whatsoever.

& I'll be ignoring her re golden dose as well. It is coming out of that pen and into my thigh somehow..

FelicityBeedle · 17/10/2024 12:14

Managed to get the pen working in the end, think I had a duff needle so I’ll have to get some more pen needles as well as my bonus dose syringes

Letitgoagain · 17/10/2024 14:25

I wanted to post an update on my progress so far:

Total weight to lose: 20 kg
Loss with first pen (2.5 mg): 5 75kg

  • Week 1 loss 3.15 kg
  • Week 2 loss 0.7 kg
  • Week 3 loss 1 kg
  • Week 4 loss 0.9 kg

Seems like a slow pace after the big loss in the first week. But I am happy to be over a quarter of the way towards my final goal.
I have started with first dose of 5mg today and will see how it goes for the next 4 weeks.
I have not had any sideffects except the odd nausea and bloating sensation. 8

WeeklyJab · 17/10/2024 00:07

I've felt so ill after my 3rd dose on Sunday - dizzy and queasy for 3 days. The first two days were nearly unbearable. It was horrible.

That was a much worse reaction than the previous two. Have other people found their side effects fluctuated?

Stomach cramps, exhaustion and a bad headache for a few days after the first dose, just a bit queasy for a day after the second dose, then absolutely laid out by the third one. I couldn't read, watch telly or sleep because of the dizziness.

I'm rather scared of this weekend's jab and I'm also reconsidering the normal progression to 5 from 2.5.

Yes I think my second or third jab was the worst. There was one where I was considering carrying on or not. I have low level side effects that last a long time so it was really hard to decide what to do as I didn't feel that bad but I also didn't feel well for a long time either.

Continuing to lose weight motivated me to carry on but I've gone to 3.75 for at least 2 weeks rather than straight to 5mg

Repairing in here as I posted to the old thread! Blush

Hey everyone

I haven't been on here for a while but am now at the end of week 3 of MJ and taking my last 2.5 dose tomorrow.

Just feeling a bit down and wondered if anyone else had experienced the same...

Stayed off week 1 with really good suppression, had a good loss that week 7lb. However since then the doses haven't had quite the same effect in terms of suppression & making healthy choices easier & I've lost around 1lb over the last couple of weeks.

I'm due to go up to 5mg at the end of next week and haven't really had any side effects so that's good but it's also made me feel a bit sad- I've got a lot to loose (also on the 5st + thread)

Is there anyone who 2.5mg had minimal effects but things improved when they moved up to 5mg?

Thank you

AussieMum135 · 17/10/2024 20:53

@letitgoagain i am pretty much on the same journey as you, just a week behind. After big losses on the first week very limited week 2 and 3, I'm finding it incredibly frustrating. Not long ago I lost 7kg in a month just from dieting, admittedly it all went back on plus some extra very quickly, but it didn't cost me $350!

I am very keen to hear about your progress with the 5mg.

Sunbeamturtle · 17/10/2024 21:22

@HippityHoppityhoo see my post up thread, have just gone up to 5mg early as felt very little. However, they say 8 weeks for the medication to be constant in your blood and for many it’s not till the higher doses that the benefits are felt so let’s hang in there

I really rate Panache's wired bra - www.bravissimo.com/products/wired-sports-bra-pr100/#greypink-pr100gyp

Just back from a team night out and seeing how the jab performed on a proper night out has really illustrated its worth to me. Everyone around ordered heavy mains and a couple of sides and I just ordered a main and genuinely couldn't eat more than about half of it. I got about halfway through and just was so full. And that was after a day of not really eating.

I am now 4 gin and tonics and half a bottle of wine in also - so let's see how that fares tomorrow am Grin

@ShiftAMountain fingers crossed you are blessed with no hangover or ill effects. :)

I’ve started ordering 1 or two starters instead of a main and I give zero fucks if anyone comments on it. I just shrug and say it’s what I fancied.

Mind you I’ve always done stuff like that but I dislike why folks make such a big song and dance about it.

HippityHoppityhoo · 18/10/2024 00:23

Thanks @Sunbeamturtle that sounds great & you are definitely right about keeping going.

@TheCatterall & @ShiftAMountain that's so great that you can feel those positive impacts when you are ordering out

For me that would be such a win, food can be such an obsession but not always in terms of eating too much but worrying about what people with think if I have more/ less / not the right thing. Feels like when I did have some suppression at the start I was much freer from those kinds of thoughts and worries

Mydoghealsmyheart · 18/10/2024 01:10

Is there an average dose which works for people in the longer term? I’m just wondering if most people get best suppression at say 10mg or if it’s higher? I know we’re all responding differently to doses in terms of weight loss and also side effects but does anyone know if the manufacturer outlines what the dose should be for someone?

SW 15st12
CW 14st13
GW according to the BMI scale 10st8 (ha ha never happening, if I get to 11st7 I will be perfectly content.) I only made it to 10st10 a long time ago with a huge fight for the last few pounds using WW. My body just did not want to be less.
But I am so pleased to see the number 14 I genuinely cannot remember he last time I saw it, I know it was before 2019 as I have my weight recorded on and off back to January of that year.
Suppression has been surprisingly good on 4th jab of 2.5mg.

I suspect the weight loss going forward will be slow like the last 3 weeks, but hopefully steady. It does make me wonder whether this medication is even necessary for the slow weight loss. But I have tried many times for years and have not been able to last this long with any consistent eating habits. I think I will see how I do on the second pen over the next 4 weeks and then decide whether to try the current eating and exercise plan without the injections.

Marble02031 · 18/10/2024 09:30

My official weigh in is tomorrow but I weighed today and in total I have lost 14.4lb in 4 weeks.

I fully expect this to slow down. I have been eating a healthy balanced diet with a bit of everything in moderation. I don't bother with protein drinks or electrolytes and try to eat between 1600-1800 calories a day.

I am still feeling sick on 2.5mg it has been pretty constant throughout my journey. I am going to try and get my bonus dose out tomorrow then I am staying on 2.5mg for another month to see how I get on.

ShiftAMountain · 18/10/2024 10:39

Well done those who have lost weight - I agree that progress is likely to steady up a bit now but that's OK by me. As long as I am slowly moving in the right direction.

Just for anyone interested about the effect of alcohol - I had a rubbish night's sleep but that was just the drink and not the jab, I think. This morning I am tired but no hangover. So that's good to know (for me). I don't drink often so it'll be good to remember there was no issues.

😂 what a coincidence- I had three glasses of wine last night 🍾. Felt more thirsty than I usually would but thankfully no hangover.

Pashazade · 18/10/2024 12:37

I think my concern with alcohol is it going to my head more quickly! 🤣 just because I'm eating so much less.
