First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

Yes sorry I mean more suppression of eating rubbish while still wanting healthy food. I'm not calorie counting but I just want to eat smaller portions of healthy food.

Sorry I misunderstood.

EVK · 24/10/2024 18:12

Pegsmum · 24/10/2024 11:50

@EVK I am debating whether to stay on 2.5 dose too, for a few more weeks anyway. I’m going to order the 5mg pen though is that what you have done?

No, I ordered another 2.5mg pen. Are you hoping to keep the 5mg pen for a lot longer then? There was a discussion about using it within 30 days of breaking the seal- I’d already bought mine but could the reasoning behind getting the 5mg and only taking 2.5 mg each time. It will last you twice as long I guess? You’ll have to keep in the fridge and maybe efficacy will be less - I don’t know? I guess the other is, check your expiration date. I’m at peace with my decision now and think if I can make it work it will be good to stay in lowest dose.

Cheris · 24/10/2024 18:12

Does anyone else have a vague paranoia about eating? I am eating - four times a day - but I can sense a weird guilt creeping in... that I'm scuppering my progress somehow by eating.

I think I've identified it - I think it must be eating when I don't feel hungry, so a sort of unexpected reaction to suppression.

EVK · 24/10/2024 18:16

KolaKoalaKan · 24/10/2024 13:11

I'm another staying at 2.5 for now @EVK. I'm in week 3. I think I will stay at 2.5 as long as supression remains. Will then go up to 3.75. I've got a lot of weight to lose so it makes sense to scale up slowly. And I feel human this week as my side effects have settled but I have good suppression. I was so unwell last week! The thoight of doubling the dose feels scary to me so if this dose stops working it's magic I will go to 3.75 first anyway.

That sounds like a sensible plan. I’m guessing you’re going to buy the 5mg pen then? I ordered another 2.5mg which in hindsight maybe I should have gone for 5mg pen but it’s done now. I’m sticking with. 2.5mg as long as I can - hopefully for the whole trip!

HansHolbein · 24/10/2024 18:38

@Cheris Yes, I get what you mean. I’ve eaten more than usual today and I feel weird about it. Guilty is the word.

For me it is years of dieting and restricting myself, so everything is a bit messed up.

Mummy20213x0 · 24/10/2024 18:47

W2 D2 - second injection last night and I can’t actually believe I’ve had no side effects! Last week I was nauseous and queasy for the rest of the evening and the next day. Nothing today. Not complaining!

Isn’t the way it changes your thinking so strange?! I think I was expecting full on no apetite, complete suppression, not thinking about food, feeling stuffed after a bite - I haven’t had that at all, which is a good thing I think. The changes have been very subtle.

I am still getting hungry for my main meals, definitely have an appetite so am still eating properly (although I do intermittent fast, so don’t eat till lunch time, and have done since before MJ). I look at cakes and treats and think they look delicious - but can easily resist a snack, not order the cake, eat a smaller portion of a meal and not want more. Did an Uber Eats order from the supermarket this morning as I was in meetings (wfh) and we’d ran out of coffee (🤯) and usually I’d be adding all sorts to the basket to justify the delivery costs. Nope, I added a salad bag (to feed our pet rabbits), some milk for DS and just the coffee. It popped up an “order again” section full of cakes and biscuits I’d regularly order in the past, and I can’t believe how easily I wasn’t tempted and just skipped to pay! I’ve definitely craved cakes and biscuits a couple of times (not as much as usual) but I have found it easier to resist - and the days when I couldn’t I had the biscuit, satisfied my cravings, but binned the rest of the packet and didn’t binge. Huge win!

I’m only on W2 but my prescriber recommends ordering the next dose 2 weeks before it’s needed incase of delays, so I’m needing to think about whether to increase or not. I want to stay on the lowest possible dose while still feeling the effects. I don’t want total suppression - I can’t afford to be on this long term (given myself 6 months of £) - so I need to be able to learn healthy habits and how to resist cravings, and I can’t do that if I’m not even getting hungry and can’t face looking at a cake! Not sure whether to stay at 2.5mg or go up to 5? I’ve got 2 more weeks on 2.5 after ordering the next dose, so what if I stay on 2.5 but by the end of the month aren’t getting an effects at all and wish I’d done the 5, but instead have another month of 2.5 ordered? With no money to order 5mg until the next payday. What’s everyone’s experiences with staying on 2.5mg? Not sure what to do. I quite like what it’s doing not and if it stayed like this I’d be quite happy.

Yes and I worry that when I eat crap it's somehow worse than eating it normally.

HansHolbein · 24/10/2024 18:54

@Mummy20213x0 Regarding ordering the next dose… I was going to do this on week 3. Surely people aren’t ordering every two weeks? Or am I being thick!

Pegsmum · 24/10/2024 19:04

@EVK I thought I might have a couple more weeks of 2.5 from a 5.0 pen and then see if I can increase to 3.75 before going for the 5.0 dose if I needed to-probably on my third pen. Although I’m bound to get confused with the clicks! I wouldn’t keep the pen longer as I would be concerned about efficacy, although it may be fine? Who knows. I do agree with staying as low as possible and I’d rather lose weight slowly.

get some spare needles and count the clicks to titrate your dose with the 5mg pen. That way if 2.5 is all you need you can make the pen last 2 months. I'm not sure how that works with the expiry date from opening (is it 60 days? if so then that would work) but it'll definitely save you some money.

@Mummy20213x0 Regarding ordering the next dose… I was going to do this on week 3. Surely people aren’t ordering every two weeks? Or am I being thick!

I was advised to order 2 weeks before to ensure I got it in time. Tbf my first pen took 5 days to order, be approved, get delivered etc. although that was with a weekend in the middle. I think it’s so you don’t risk running out as after not taking it for 2 weeks you need to go back to 2.5mg no matter what dose you were on. I’ve managed to stagger mine - I picked it up but didn’t use it right away, so payday for me next week means I’ve just finished week 2 rather than week 3/4, so I am just paying once a month

memememe · 24/10/2024 19:54

So I've had the horrid sulphur burps today. I've eaten a bit more than yesterday so that's good. I'm wondering about doing the next 2 doses of 3.5 to use the bonus dose up.

Does anyone order a 2.5 pen but inject 3 each time? Or even 3.5, so you're only doing the 4 weeks but a middle amount between 2.5 and 5.

killamounjaro · 24/10/2024 20:00

@Fizzleaway time for a new October thread?

WafflingDreamer · 24/10/2024 20:16

Oof I ate a bagel thin with my soup tonight totally within my calories but carbs really don't agree with me on MJ, I feel so ridiculously bloated it's unreal.

Maggi85 · 24/10/2024 20:34

RunSlowTalkFast · 24/10/2024 09:33

How much is in the bonus dose?

As I've not had any suppression so far (week 3) I'm wondering if there is enough to do a slightly higher dose for both jab 4 and 5?

I'm sure I've seen people say there is about 3.75mg in the bonus dose so could I do say 3mg for jab 4 and 3.25mg for jab 5?

If I wanted to do a slightly higher dose for jab 4 would I need to do the 2.5mg jab first then do another jab for the extra or could I do 60 clicks, hard twist, then do the extra clicks and take it in one go?

For my 4th I did 3.75 as I didn’t feel enough suppression on 2.5. I did 2.5 as normal then hard twisted and counted 30 closed and did another 1.25 within a few minutes. Suppression seems to have improved with no side effects.

thanks. hopefully wake up to feeling a bit of suppression.

Ive gone backwards today. First jabbed on monday and pretty much felt surpression a few hours later, and been great so far, but today, I have practically eaten non-stop and mostly shite too! Cant wait for the second dose, and to go up next month!

I took mine on Sunday evening. Full suppression until yesterday when I thought about food all day and was hungry. I tried to be careful with what I had though. Today I had a sandwich at lunchtime and that kept me going until my evening meal. Since then I’ve eaten a few bits of fruit. I can’t wait to go up next month either

Hi, I’m picking up my first Mounjaro dose tomorrow afternoon. Hoping to avoid side effects but looking at threads looks like I should get mint tea, rennies & a tablet to ease constipation! Anything else/other tips for me as a newbie?
