First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

I slept like a log last night, after my first injection in the morning, and i feel sleepy tired now, 24 hours after the injection, but not enough to stay in bed, if that makes sense, I’m up as normal. When I woke it was like I was dragging myself out a deep sleep.

I read up and it said peak effect happens 72 hours after the injection, it ramps up over 3 days. I didn’t eat much yesterday, likely about 1000 calories, and if I do that, (on the rare occasion obvs or I’d not need mounjaro), normally I’d be obsessing about food at this time, totally starving, and then I’d fall head first into the fridge and over eat.

Right now I feel a little hungry, but not that bothered.

Same her- I am on week two and feeling a little more nauseous than last week. Also just woke up with a headache and feeling quite hot.
not sure if it is the drug or just general under the weather 🤷‍♀️

Yeh my son has a cold so I wondered if I was catching his cold. Hopefully not!

Thanks for the new thread!

I took jab 2 yesterday - I definitely noticed an increase in my appetite and found it harder to resist sweet treats towards the end of the week. I had a takeaway last night which I really enjoyed but felt uncomfortably full afterwards despite eating a much smaller portion than usual.

Anyway I've just weighed myself and am 3kg
/ 6 lbs down! I'm pretty pleased with that. I am sure that'll slow down over the weeks.

Overall I've really enjoyed the first week - less of an obsession over food and more motivated to exercise.

Great to hear of other successes too!

ItsMintUpNorth · 13/10/2024 08:22

Week 1 weigh in

SW - 17st 4
CW - 16st 13
GW - 11st 4

So 5lbs lost!!

As the effects have worn off I want to jab now but I'm at an event tonight and worried about side effects so will either jab when I get home or first thing tomorrow.

Fizzleaway · 13/10/2024 08:24

@ShineyHappyPeeple @ItsMintUpNorth well done on the loses!

We have a Halloween party to go to at the end of the month, I need to find a Halloween costume. I feel huge though so not looking forward to finding something at all. Going to think of something I can wear that’s tent like so it’s not clingy!

WafflingDreamer · 13/10/2024 09:18

I'm not jabbing until tomorrow but I'm working tonight so I need to either weigh today or Tuesday as nights make me retain a ton of water.

I was kind of expecting a big loss which I often get the first week on SW as I feel like I've made really healthy choices and barely snacked at all but a loss is a loss and the slower the better for my skin as I have a LOT to shift!

SW - 303.4lbs (BMI 43.5)
CW - 299.6lbs (BMI 43.0)
GW - 174lbs (BMI 25)

loss 3.8lbs

thekewgirl · 13/10/2024 09:26

As you say a loss is a loss @WafflingDreamer! Well done to all those starting the journey... I am 3 days into week 2 and still feeling good. Suppression seems a little lower this week but I wonder if the novelty of it in week 1 made it feel more. Having said that I am still able to resist overeating or eating bad things so it's all going well at this level. Thankfully!!! I am starting to feel the weight loss in my clothes now and not looking so bloated after eating. Honestly I am so grateful for this... I know there will be some psychology behind it but I really needed this to get me on the right path and stop hating myself for eating too much - which would make me over-eat, almost like a punishment.

I've just taken my second injection. Had some horrible side effects during week 1, so hoping they settle this week. Lost 8lbs in week 1 - I hardly ate anything though due to the side effects. If they continue this week I think I'll need to accept this isn't for me, which is a shame as I've at least 4 stone to lose and I feel confident that this is the way to do it!

I'd be interested to hear of your side effects after the second jab, I'm terrified to take my 2nd one next week after feeling horrendous all day Thursday and Friday, and still pretty ropey since then (first injection Wednesday am) Keep us posted and fingers crossed it's better this time for you...

Can I ask are you drinking plenty of water, 2-3 litres a day, ensuring you take fibre, ie psylum husk with a big glass of water to avoid constipation, and managing your food intake, Ie lots of green veg, and protein? These are really important things, as dehydration, constipation, too much fat or carbs will have you feeling really ill I think

I’m only a day in, so no clue, but I’ve spent a lot of time reading medical advice and anecdotal findings, and it seems the above is key to avoiding side effects,

from what I understand it’s not just how much you eat, but what you eat, and any supplier should have warned on eating healthy.

if you’re doing all these things, then it could sadly just be a bad reaction and another medicine may work better.

killamounjaro · 13/10/2024 09:45

Honestly I felt so awful I was pretty much only drinking water!

However I already take senna tablets for constipation (Im on other medications which cause it)

Diet wise I've been eating very little because of the side effects and suppression. However first day I had muesli with Greek yogurt and honey (threw half away tho) and then scrambled eggs (2) and smoked salmon for a late lunch, plenty of water and tea (normal and peppermint) but couldn't manage anything else.

Second day I had tomatoes, celery, cucumber, olives and grilled halloumi for lunch, again loads of water, tea, some fruit.

So I don't think I've eaten too badly diet wise? I did wonder about supplements/electrolytes? Actually that reminds me, on Thursday when i couldn't get out of bed (convinced i had Covid) I found some rehydration powders for diarrhoea and necked one as I thought it might be similar to electrolytes that I'd seen mentioned!

I don't want to give up so quickly so I just hope the body accepts the second one a bit better

YummyCookie · 13/10/2024 09:58

Lucozade has been my best friend this weekend. After feeling rather queasy on the train on Friday, I’ve been ok for the rest of the weekend. I’ve not had much at all to eat so it’s obviously keeping my sugar levels up enough. I’ve not weighed all weekend (usually weigh daily) so no idea how I’m getting on 😬 but we’ve walked for miles!

igivein · 13/10/2024 10:19

My second jab yesterday, so first weigh-in this morning:

SW: 128kg
CW: 123.5kg

So I’ve lost 4.5kg, which is brilliant! Yes I know it’s mainly water and it won’t continue like this, but if I could average 1kg a week going forward I’d be happy.
By day 5 the suppression was wearing off. I wasn’t exactly hungry, but definitely felt like I could have eaten more. But then again I wasn’t that bothered when I didn’t eat more - weird.
Had fish and chips on Friday night (pensioner portion and shared the chips with ds). On Saturday morning my stomach explained to me that we don’t eat greasy things anymore if we don’t want to get the runs … lesson learned. That was the closest I got to any side effects though, other than a slight metallic taste in my mouth and mild burps on day one.
Onwards to week 2!

hopeishere · 13/10/2024 10:22

First weigh into day and I've lost 5lbs. I'm pretty pleased as I wasn't tracking calories yet. Have redownloaded MFP and will start this week!

Second jab done this morning and first weeks weigh in, 4lbs lost. Feel a bit disappointed as I’ve cut my calories loads, eaten healthily and hugely reduced wine intake… was hoping for 7-8lbs like others have reported. Hey ho. Better than nothing.

Hmm ok, I’m not sure I’d blame the jab, it sounds like you’ve a multitude of health issues, from having Covid to whatever you take your other meds for. I’d give it some time.

Gr3atEscape · 13/10/2024 11:01

Some great results here that is very encouraging. Best of luck for people starting week 2!
I am on day 2 and already feeling more peckish than yesterday! It's not ravenous hunger which normally I would have if watching what I'm eating but still very early for effect to be wearing off. Anybody else had this?
Maybe I'm not eating enough but I would say that I am. Not counting calories as I get to an unhealthy mental space when I do that.

BeckyBloom · 13/10/2024 11:02

Hi, I took my first dose yesterday morning and I don't feel much different,,,can that happen? I still have slight food noise and the usual hunger level.

Tulip8 · 13/10/2024 11:07

I have to admit, I don't really know what food noise is!

when you think about food, eating, what to eat.

Yes I think it is very different for different people. Some feel effects in 24 hours, some 3 days and some people only when they go on a higher dose after a few weeks.
I'm only on day 2 but yesterday I noticed a subtle difference of being able to go longer stretches without eating and it being easier to say no to a second helping.

EmeraldDreams73 · 13/10/2024 11:12

Morning all! I had my very first injection yesterday afternoon. Absolutely no effects yet and still ate loads last night but really hoping something might kick in before my second one...

when you think about food, eating, what to eat.

Is that different from hunger?

I feel I need to examine my food habits. You all seem quite sure about your food habits, I think I'm just lazy and addicted to sugar.

Yes..hunger is physical, food noise is mental.
