I've decided to stick at 7.5 for an extra pen for now - it seems to be working fine and I've only just moved up from 5. I started in mid-August I think, so just over 2 months, and I'm just over 9.5kg, or a stone and a half, down, and that includes some quite spectacular backsliding a couple of times.

I had Medexpress querying my height, saying there was a discrepancy - I explained to them that my entire adult life I'd been 178cm (5'10") but the hospital measured me at between 174 and 175cm which was quite a surprise - I guess arthritis and bad back and general oldness have probably compressed my spine a bit. But I couldn't remember which number I'd told them last time (174 or 175) and obviously it was the other one. It feels a bit daft them flagging it though, as one can easily be an inch shorter by bedtime, just from too much sitting and not enough stretching.

Quick weigh-in for me this morning, 15 weeks in, currently on 7.5mg.

Current stats:
SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 110.4kg (17st 5 lbs)
GW: 100kg (15st 11lbs) third interim goal.

I wasn't expecting much of a loss at all this week after last week's 7-pound loss, but I am surprised that I'm down another 3 pounds. Brings me to 4st 7lbs lost to date. Which, depressingly, is still not even halfway to my final goal weight. But, getting there one day at a time!

Darlinghag · 18/10/2024 10:05

I don’t usually update here on weight until Saturday but I weigh everyday.

it’s looking like this week i will see a gain 🤨

i’ve stuck to my deficit and i’m over a week since my period so it feels really crappy even though i know its just the way it rolls some weeks.

its also been the hardest week in terms of MJ effects. Its week 5 of 5mg and i’ve only had one day of the suppression i normally get and ive been feeling a lot of food noise. Its the first week in 9 weeks where i’ve craved a dominoes pizza and a share bag of chocolate 😩😩 not just a fleeting moment either, but most of the week has been hard. I can cope on day 5-7 with food noise but when two days out from injection it happens its hard!!

I’ve got my 7.5mg pen so i think i am going to try that on sunday. I may consider going to 6.25mg for a week first to see if that is enough.

alwaysscared · 18/10/2024 11:50

Despite a disappointing mid week gain, I have managed to lose just over half a pound this week. I'm so surprised as suppression has been non existent, so have relied on willpower. The better news is that my muscle mass has increased and my visceral fat has reduced! So I'm getting healthier! And I can finally see the 16 stone on the scales!
Going up to 3.5mg today. Please keep all your fingers and toes crossed that I'll be ok, I feel sick with nerves!!

KayeEyeEssEss · 18/10/2024 11:57

Hey @Darlinghag, we’ve had very similar weeks - I recorded a gain of 2.2kg after a week of hunger. I’ve not been overeating, but definitely more than I have been in the last two months. It feels like on week 4 of 5mg my tolerance for the dose has skyrocketed. I did my injection this morning and went up to 6mg - hoping I’ll feel suppression again this week. Good luck, and hang in there.

WeAllHaveWings · 18/10/2024 13:06

I am a daily weigher too and I record my loss each Saturday morning after a lie in and before next injection. Most Saturday mornings I see a dip overnight, I don't know if it is because I am lying in (mid week weigh ins are before work), less stressed as it is the weekend or weirdly because suppression has wearing off and I ate more. Saturday weigh ins feel like Christmas gift unwrapping and so far it hasn't been anything I want a receipt to return! 😂

My suppression this week has been crazy, I just don't feel like eating at all and having to force myself to eat which is strange as two weeks ago I was considering increasing but thought I'd finish the pen I am on first. Nothings changed still on 3.75 as per the last 11 weeks, last Saturday was the last week of the pen (so not like it was a new/fresh one if that made any difference) so not sure I understand it. Only other change is I started using 6mm needles 3 weeks ago, but didn't feel any different the first two weeks except reduced injection site reaction.

I did stop taking my prescribed omeprazole daily and I have had some acid reflux and had to take some rennies a couple of days instead, I don't feel particularly bloated but wonder if it is related.

@KayeEyeEssEss thank you - you too!

its funny because after all i typed earlier, i feel ive got suppression today!! So bizarre, my side effects and benefits have always been linear, so this up and down is weird to me.

however, i do acknowledge that 2/3 days this week i was out of routine - my calories were fine but i was drinking very little water and overdoing caffeine, so i wonder if its having an impact this week. Im back drinking a minimum of 2 litres (plus my diet coke and hot drinks) so fingers crossed this helps.

I think i’m also having a little wobble about passing through doses too quickly - what if i end up on 15mg and it wears off on me? It feels stupid to worry about, but I am conscious of the ‘what about after’. I just need to let it go and get on with it.

SqueakyDinosaur · 18/10/2024 13:14

I think it's fascinating how we all respond differently to the doses - some people needing only a small dose to maintain suppression, others definitely seeing that wearing off and needing to go higher. In a way, I wish the NHS would try to capture the experience that people using MJ privately, because it would be a hugely valuable dataset for understanding its effect on the body.

Evenstar · 18/10/2024 15:04

Starting Weight 114.4 kg
Current Weight 113.2 kg

This is the result after my first week, 1.2 kg down, so really pleased as I know not to expect much from the first month.

For sure!!!

i’d also love to see more research on the other effects - i really want to maintain this drug once i’m at weight target , because its truly changed my life with regards to my no gallbladder/dumping syndrome. I could see me taking a lower dosage twice a week, like 2.5mg spread out, if that was ‘available’ to me to maintain that benefit.

i am sure that will come, i expect i’ll be on MJ for weightloss for at least a year longer based on current progression, so lets hope theres more widespread application of the drug!

NewoIkkin · 18/10/2024 19:34

Weigh-in day for me. 1.7lbs lost this week which I’m quite pleased with as I’ve definitely been eating more - I’ve had pasta twice this week and a glass of wine every night which hasn’t happened since I started MJ. I’m about to start my fourth 5mg pen and I’m slightly regretting ordering it as the suppression has been significantly less this week and the food noise is definitely back!

Thelastdietever · 18/10/2024 21:03

I’m so pleased I’ve lost 5lb after a holiday that has never happened gone lost 21lb whoop whoop only millions left

CatTraveler · 18/10/2024 23:03

Not updated for a few weeks

I have moved my injection day till Sunday to work in better with weekends away the next few weeks, but am keeping my offical weigh in day as a Friday.
I will be starting my second 7.5mg pen on Sunday (4 wks 2.5mg, 5 wks 5mg and 5 wks 7.5mg).

I was away for a week (came back 5 days ago, sunday evening). Initally I was up about 1kg but I knew that was "water weight" and this morning I was nearly 1kg down from the weight I was when I went away. I didnt really think about food when I was away, on more than one occasion I wasnt bothered about food when my friends were all starving and hardly ever finished my portions. Changed days!!

I also was suffering badly with constipation before we went and whilst it was better when we were away it was still not great. Think I have got on top of it and now taking Psyllium Husk daily and plan on carrying on this unless I go the other way! I also am being very aware of how much fibre I am eatting (aiming for 25-30g a day).

SW - 134.7 kg (BMI 49.5)
CW - 120.6kg (BMI 44.3)

Total loss 14.1kg (10.5% of SW)
Mini GW - 110kg (BMI 40.4)
Currently 57.9% completed
First GW - 80kg (BMI 29.4)
Currently 25.8% completed

Darlinghag · 19/10/2024 11:11

So i am showing a 1.6lb gain!!

i’m trying very hard not to be annoyed about it, as I have stuck to my deficit (truly!!). I had a couple of days of poor dehydration and the only other thing that’s off is I am pretty sure I was ovulating yesterday. (My menstrual cycle is completely different on MJ, I feel EVERYTHING! Was I just eating too much junk and too fat to feel it before??)

I am in such disbelief that I actually ordered another scale, just in case. At one point yesterday I was almost 8lbs heavier than last saturday’s weigh in, and while i of course shoot up during the day, its never that much.

hope everyone else is more successful!!

Keep going and avoid the scales for a few days. It'll just be a water blip.

I bet it is the poor hydration, I know if I dont drink enough water I can easily be 1-2kg heavier the next day.

Please dont rely on new scales being the same as your existing one, they could be a few lbs out in how they weigh you. I would just stay away from them for a few days, drink lots of water and see how you are next week.

gimmemounjaro · 19/10/2024 12:03

Weigh day for me after 14 weeks:

SW: 241.2lbs / BMI 35.6
CW: 212.7lbs / BMI 31.4
GW: 154-160lbs ish

This week -2.6lbs
Total -28.5lbs

Finally crept over the 2 stone mark this week 💪
And had a big sort out of clothes, selling some that are too big and getting into some that have been too small for a few years now. Pretty happy so far 🙂

WeAllHaveWings · 19/10/2024 13:41

Trigger warning - there may be swearing in this post - I apologise in advance I am honestly not a sweary person!

50lbs, I'll repeat, fucking FIFTY POUNDS loss hit today! Feels like such a huge number compared to previous mini milestones. I feel a bit happy teary about this one 🥲

End of week - 17 (5 x 2.5mg, 12 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 42.8
CW - 17st 11lbs BMI 35.6
Losses - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3
Total loss - 3st 8lbs (50lbs), 16%
Current Target - 17st by Christmas🎄 (9 weeks, 11lbs to go!)

I am on a couple of Mounjaro facebook pages where some share before and after pictures and some of those younger (than me!) people look so fabulous after their loses. They look like those fake pictures for magic skinny pills/shakes/diets/weird substances that we have all seen for years, but this time they are real!

I am 56 so I am doing this now for my health and quality of life more than anything else, but I am so so pleased for these younger people, and you guys on here too, especially those with young kids to run about with who are hopefully being saved from a future with decades of obesity and all the physical, mental and social issues that come with that. Wish it had been here 20 years ago!

New pen today and sticking with 3.75mg as it is working brilliantly for me.

Keep going everyone, even if you get a blip with a plateau or increase, you are on the right path 💗

Snozzlemaid · 19/10/2024 14:40

Excellent @WeAllHaveWings 🎉
That's such a great loss, you must feel amazing.
I love hearing about us hitting these milestones that we all thought were out of reach for us.
We're all going to look fab at Christmas and maybe this year i won't hide away from the camera.

Orangesandlemons77 · 19/10/2024 14:49

So fab to hear these stories. I thought you might all like this (sorry if posted already) the smart BMi calculator, takes into account age etc. I like looking at it, seeing movement into the orange from the red etc

Started yesterday 18st 3 (☹️☹️☹️) and want to be in the 12
Woke up with a raging headache and feel weird. Still hungry a lot but the noise is quieter I think

Snozzlemaid · 19/10/2024 15:03

Good luck @Icedlattewithvanilla
I started at 18st 6lbs at the end of May and am now 14st 8lbs.
I'm sure you'll be sharing your losses with us soon.

Snozzlemaid · 19/10/2024 15:04

Regarding the headache, make sure you up your liquid intake. I get a headache if I don't drink enough.

Icedlattewithvanilla · 19/10/2024 15:52

Wow @Snozzlemaid thats incredible!!! I’d be so happy to even see 16 something at this point. I was last 15 stone on 10th sept 2011 as that was my wedding day. All uphill then!
