@WeAllHaveWings fantastic I feel so happy for you

I’ve not been on for a while so here’s my update I just hit 2 stone in 10 weeks I’m so chuffed I’m sticking with 5mg for now as it’s working well

Rm2018 · 10/11/2024 18:31

This is a bizarre question but what if anything are you looking forward to treating yourself with when hit goals? I've hit 10% which was my 2nd target, I don't want to buy clothes yet as have loads in loft i put away when got too rotund! My usual treats were food related so not an option lol 😂

Arglefraster · 10/11/2024 20:04

For me a treat would always be fabric! (having said that I don't do treats for goals as I'm not motivated that way).
do you have a hobby? could you treat yourself to supplies/upgrade supplies?

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 10/11/2024 20:32

Posh bubble bath for me!

SqueakyDinosaur · 10/11/2024 21:31

The biggest treat for me is that I feel less like I need to avoid mirrors and I don't always involuntarily wince when I catch sight of my own reflection.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 10/11/2024 22:30

Lovely NSV in the form of a hot bath just now. Our bath is a weird shape and I hated feeling wedged in at my biggest, plus I developed a paranoia that the floor wouldn’t take my weight in combination with a bath full of water… I’d forgotten how much I love a bath and I think it’s going to become my Sunday night ritual again.

Oh, I had an NSV last night, staying with some friends as I do a couple of times a year at least. Their bath towels wrapped right round me this time, with no triangle of blubber hanging out! It made me happy.

I keep meaning to try a bath again. Last time I had one it was awful, I struggled to get out again as had no space to move around and didn't have enough strength in my legs to pull my weight up.
I'm now 4 stone lighter so look forward to enjoying a bath again.

SqueakyDinosaur · 10/11/2024 23:20

The weight thing - I think that's an unnecessary worry. Water is INCREDIBLY heavy - a litre of water is 10cm x10cm x10cm and it weighs A KILO. 20cm x20cm x20cm weighs EIGHT KILOS, or about a stone and a half. There's a lot more than that in a bath.

mydogisacloud · 10/11/2024 23:26

Hey, can I join in on this thread please?

I took my first mounjaro dose tonight, and have at least 30kg to lose, ideally 35kg if possible...

Looking to have some thread support to keep on track with it all

SqueakyDinosaur · 10/11/2024 23:37

Yes, he is a fluffy monster! Cloud with legs, ears and a tail!

I read the August thread and this one being the main 2 that help me..
Started August with 6 stone in mind to lose.
As today I'm 1lb away from 3 stone loss. Nearly half way, so close..
SW 18.6
CW 15.7
Happy with this, just hope I can keep going, I'm on my 2nd 5mg pen and have a 3rd waiting as the 5 seems to work for me so far..

Thank you - I always knew it was probably irrational but it’s nice to hear the numbers!

Just taken my first dose of 15mg Mounjaro. My weight loss has not sped up yet sadly, still loosing half a kilo a week on average. (Just over a pound).
Worked out if I carry on loosing at this speed, it will take me two years to get to target weight. Oh well I have to keep telling myself that I'm not just doing it to look better but to be healthier: get rid of my hypertension (I did last time I made it to a normal BMI) improve my arthritis & hopefully stop me getting adult onset diabetes (big family history). Need to take my own advice & be patient.😏
Thinking of starting a new thread for those of us that need to loose 100lb/50kg/8 stone or more (I can't find one). Wonder if there are enough peeps out there that would like to support each other in that category tbh.🤔
Sart weight 120kg 😟
Goal weight 70kg 😁

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/11/2024 10:21

I started out with exactly 50 kg to lose - that is to get to the top of the "healthy BMI" range. I can't even begin to visualise that.

At the moment I have lost 16.6 kilos. The last week or so I've really begun to feel some of the changes in my body and also physical benefits.

As I get fitter and slimmer I really want to move more - it feels fantastic. Last night I put on some music and just danced for about 90 minutes in my front room - just for the fun and pleasure of it.

But I am still on common ground with my current weight - at 107kg I'm still in a place I know really well. I'm still wearing the same clothes though some of them are starting to get loose now.

I really can't imagine what 74 kilos, let alone 90 kilos will feel and/or look like. So one step at a time.

I've been enjoying classes at the gym though the yoga ones are my fav. When I think back to times in my life when I've really felt great, I've always been doing a lot of yoga. So I've been looking for more challenging yoga classes, that will build strength & muscle. I've signed up for a 2 week trial at a local hot yoga center. This would have been unimaginable 2 months ago and now I can't wait to try the first class. I had a "speed yoga" class at the gym this morning and I felt so strong and powerful compared to even 3 weeks ago.
Yoga is wonderful physically but the mental aspects are so powerful and make me feel so good.

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/11/2024 10:22

Just to add @GoddessCrone there are lots of us on this thread who have 50+kgs to hit recommended BMI

Arglefraster · 11/11/2024 10:45

Hi @GoddessCrone I've got more than 50kg to lose - there are people on my November thread with start weights that I can only dream of as end weight 😁 so I like to hang out here!

@RobinEllacotStrike I remember that feeling of just wanting to move & run up steep hills when I lost about that amount a couple of years ago. It's such a wonderful feeling I'm glad you're enjoying it & exploring more yoga options.

SilenceInside · 11/11/2024 10:51

@GoddessCrone just to chip in, in solidarity, I started at 140kg and so needed to lose 75kg to get to my target weight of 65kg. I'm currently at 107kg (same as @RobinEllacotStrike!) but I clearly have more than half of my journey left to go. I also can't fathom losing more than half my starting weight as it seems an impossible feat, even though I'm 40% there.

alltablenochairs · 11/11/2024 10:51

Hi @GoddessCrone I also have +50kg to lose. While I don't have an exact end goal, to get to a healthy BMI for my weight means I would need to lose in the region of 60ish kg. Slightly complicated in my case as I don't walk. However as long as I am losing something each week then I am satisfied.

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/11/2024 10:58

I don't want to startle anyone, but I've always visualised this excessive 50 kilos I have been carrying around as a small olympic boxer.

Wu Yu won gold in Paris in her 50kg catagory.

Its truly unfathomable, but neverthless we seem to be on a journey to lose a Wu Yu.

@RobinEllacotStrike that's brilliant! I'm alarmed to realise that 75kg is in the male Middleweight boxing category and so I need to lose the equivalent of Jake LaMotta of Raging Bull fame. Crazy to think that at my heaviest I was carrying a middleweight boxer's worth of additional weight around. At least now I've got down to a little bit less than Wu Yu to carry around with me!

Darlinghag · 11/11/2024 11:26

Love these comparisons!!

I’m a pound up from yesterday 🤔 its because i ate rice instead of potatoes for tea last night so it will be gone soon!

Its bizarre to notice these things. I now understand how carbs, sugars and dehydration affect me. Its like MJ has cleared all the fog of junk food (and honestly, it was ALL junk, I existed on junk snacks, hardly ever ate real meals, portions were rarely my problem) and now I can understand and feel the little things that change by body.

I genuinely feel like its a revelation.

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/11/2024 11:38

@SilenceInside wow at the Jake LaMotta! I can see why you might want to lose him. 😁

It does boggle my mind. But also its a reminder that this is going to take some time. We are seeking to lose shed the equivalent weight of an entire adult peak level athlete and that is going to take persistance, and perserverance. And of course MJ.

This thread really helps me to enjoy each step of the way. The increase in enjoyment I am having in my body, mind & soul by being fitter, stronger, lighter now after losing one third of my final goal is worth it in itself.

Lets not just race to the end, but enjoy the journey. Lets remember there is no end as maintenance will require the changes we are making now to become our new lifestyle.

I am enjoying the now & I want to keep going. I am motivated to keep going even though the destination remains unfathomable.

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 11/11/2024 12:20

I feel the same @RobinEllacotStrike about enjoying the journey. I've never enjoyed the journey before, it's always felt like such a slog that I will inevitably eventually fail at
