So I went away last week with the youngest. Even though I tried to go for the healthier choices, this didn't always happen. However, by some kind of small miracle I still managed to lost weight.

So that's a 1.3kg loss this week
7.7kg loss so far since I started MJ
12.3kg left till my first goal of 113kg.

I still dont have an end goal in sight yet, and I am still completely realistic that this is going to be a long haul for me. Still, a loss is a loss.

@RobinEllacotStrike this is what 5kg pomegranates looks like. Ignore the outside looking a bit bashed, it's the inside that's important!

Oh wow! Mine arrive next week.

Great work with your loss! You must be very pleased.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 06/11/2024 08:13

Please tell me that the dip in suppression and return of appetite goes on longer than the 2-3 days I had this week as doses build up - cos I'm back to fighting my appetite and food noise to ridiculous levels after just that length of time this week.

Doggymummar · 06/11/2024 08:22

What dose are you in? I'm on 5mg and mine is strong till the next dose.

It does a little, but it does naturally wane towards the end of the week and I have found it's important to get into a bit of a rhythm to work with the drug. I can't remember the name of the poster now but there was someone a few months ago who talked knowledgeably about planning a 'refeed' day to help boost leptin levels. It might be something you want to look into if it would help you to have a plan of how you will deal with hungrier days at the end of the week: I use them to food shop and meal plan as this is unthinkable when suppression is highest, and try to view them as an opportunity to take on nutrient-dense food. We all have to learn how to live with and manage our hunger, especially when we recognise that it's not entirely physiological, and view it as something other than an enemy. Good luck.

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I've done thighs and stomach before. I definitely get more appetite suppression in my stomach but I also get way worse acid reflux. I'll let you know how the arm goes!

Update twelve hours after my first stomach injection and I can't believe how much stronger the symptoms are, to the extent that I wonder if I would have needed to titrate up to 12.5mg if I had been doing stomach injections all along! I will be interest to see how long the effects last.

I'm not squeamish and the injections haven't bothered me at all but I must admit I don't find stomach injections pleasant. Strong flashbacks to daily postpartum Fragmin injections!

RMNofTikTok · 06/11/2024 10:12

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping I read something about glp1s having higher availability in the stomach, which could explain the increase in side effects!

I'm now 36 hours post arm injection and I've dropped 0.6lb. So it's got me out of a plateau BUT I'm not really feeling the same level of appetite suppression.

We'll have to keep comparing notes this week because it's very interesting!

RMNofTikTok · 06/11/2024 10:15

alltablenochairs · 04/11/2024 22:43

@RobinEllacotStrike if you like pomegranates, have a look at Crowdfarming. 5kg boxes of the things and they're fabulous

@RMNofTikTok does your TDEE account for the fact that you're an ambulatory wheelchair user? If so would you mind sharing with me how you managed to calculate it? From what I was reading, people who are non-mobile or walk very little have a completely different TDEE calculation.

No I just put it as no exercise/sedentary, that's interesting though I didn't realise it would be different for wheelchair users!

NSV here today. I had some blood tests this morning (I am on some meds which need monitoring) and my blood pressure which used to be quite high is now normal- 117/75. Really pleased, as was the nurse. BMI still 37.8 higher than I thought as I am shorter than I thought, 5ft 1. But still

peonym · 06/11/2024 10:52

Just checking in for the week. End of week 6:

SW: 18,7
SW pre MJ: 16,10
CW: 15,8

Loss to date on MJ is 16lbs. Hope everyone doing ok!

Pumpkinforever · 06/11/2024 18:49

That’s good news @Orangesandlemons77 that you BP is lower

Evenstar · 06/11/2024 19:05

NSV for me last night, I sometimes need to use a wheeled walker when I have a long way to walk as I have fibromyalgia. I used the seat and found my hips and bottom fitted much more comfortably than the last time I used it. I have lost around 3kg so far, but it seems to have gone noticeably from those areas, whereas it has stubbornly remained in the past even with significant weight loss.

I have suspected for some years that I have lipoedema, but never pursued a diagnosis as there wasn’t much that could be done about it, but people with a diagnosis are seeing massive improvements with Mounjaro. There’s a group on Facebook if it’s of interest to anyone.

Orangesandlemons77 · 06/11/2024 19:54

That sounds good Evenstar

alltablenochairs · 06/11/2024 20:23

Wow @Evenstar what a fantastic NSV.

I do have non-pitting limpodema and was told ages ago by the GP that there wasn't much that could be done - to the point I have one leg noticeably thicker than the other. I think I've noticed an improvement in the cankle department already but I could be kidding myself.

Next jab day tomorrow. Hoping I don't end up vomiting and with the shits again cos I have a LOT of work related driving to do and that has the potential for fun.

alltablenochairs · 06/11/2024 20:28

@TorturedParentsDepartment would there be any benefit in taking a travel sick med before you get in the car?

Plan is to take immodium with me and pop one of them at the first gurgle of a suspicious fart! I'm hoping going on the timescale of when things were side-effecty this week that I can do my visits in the morning (I tend to morning-load my diary cos I hate driving in the dark) and then get back before anything more than grotty burps start to strike.

Darlinghag · 06/11/2024 21:39

I’m halfway through week 12 and I’m really starting to notice a change going on in my brain, not related to food.

i think its dopamine related. Normally Christmas is huge for me, Nov 1st is when I’m really starting to get super festive and I’d have tackled most of my Christmas shopping, but this year I just don’t care???

it’s hard to verbalise. I’m not depressed, I’m not dreading it…its just like, its too far away yet to care??? I’ve no joy in spending all that money either (I spend loads!).

its happening in other ways too - normally i’ve always enjoyed shopping for things for myself, even clothes, but i need new formalwear for an event, given my weightloss, but i’m not arsed to search for it and try things on. If someone handed me something that was right, i’d feel good and pleased at my losses, but i just dont get that dopamine hit now!!

anyone else?

EricTheGardener · 06/11/2024 22:18

Yes @Darlinghag I have noticed this too. I've been trying to do a bit of Christmas shopping and just feel kind of meh... about everything. I've even been putting stuff in my basket but then just not following through with the checkout. Hard to explain... like you I just can't really be bothered and also can't really make a definitive decision about anything.

Orangesandlemons77 · 07/11/2024 07:57

This is all interesting, I'm feeling much the same. As well as not getting a buzz out of buying things etc it is also a relief not to feel worried about not getting the 'right things' etc I just have a feeling of 'who cares, it will be fine" e.g. about present buying etc.

I've also been on/off prozac (fluoxetine) most of my life and it does remind me a bit of that. (which has been a positive thing for me btw)

I'm on a conbination of prozac, HRT, mounjaro atm and it is difficult to know what it doing what. But I'm grateful for all of it and think I am in a better place than I would be without it. Definitely.

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 07/11/2024 08:18

I recognise this too, I'm feeling a distinct lack of stress/need to prep for Christmas. It's November and I haven't even thought about what I'm going to buy for anyone, quite unusual for me

NewbieMJ · 07/11/2024 09:08

That is very interesting - I feel the same. Calm and not needing to stress about Christmas, etc. I had put it down to getting over a horrible house move in the summer, but in all honesty, I still have a very full-on calendar with other things going on, but I am not nearly as worried about it.

MJ wise, I had a great start, but the 5mg was very disappointing for me, so took my first injection of 7.5.mg on Monday.

Still doing keto, still very much enjoying it.

I've had 2 awful stomach sessions - both times when I let processed carbs slip in (eating out). Awful diarrhoea next day. It settled quickly, but THAT is a sure fired way of not going near the carbs! I remember reading something on a health thread and a guy replied "your body knows what it's doing" and it stuck with me. My feeling is that MJ has so much more to offer than just helping us keep satisfied with lower portions, limiting food noise, allowing us to enjoy being satiated without the need to snack, etc. You just need to read this thread to see that we are all focussing on healthy eating and looking to eat nutritiously dense food. I think that is the thing I love about MJ the most. Helping me eat well, in a way that makes me feel good in a sustainable way.

Weight loss so far.
SW (2nd Sept): 18 stone 11
CW: 17 stone 3

Weight loss (9 weeks: 22 pounds)

Looking forward to being 16 something and getting my BMI under 40 something

I very much appreciated all the support here. I read it most days. I also like the tip of recording the losses only and seeing the lengthier picture (helps when we have plateaus and small gains).

Orangesandlemons77 · 07/11/2024 10:25

I've got back the results of my blood tests which I had yesterday which is for yearly monitoring for some other meds I am on (which can cause metabolic problems)

Anyway there are some positive changes which I wonder off might be due to the mounjaro / changes in diet. My HB1AC is down from 36 to 34 and total cholesterol which was over 6 is now 4.7

However my HDL level is down from over 2/2.5 in previous tests to 1.7, I might try and eat some e.g. avocados or nuts to see if I can help that a bit (unsure if this is necessary but could be an idea)

I also have a message about my liver tests "One of your liver blood tests (ALT) was slightly raised, it has been normal previously so is probably just a natural fluctuation rather than indicating any problem." and to get this re-tested in a month.

Anyone had this on mounjaro? It's probably as he says but just wondered. I don't drink so can't be that.

I also find this group really supportive - thanks

Orangesandlemons77 · 07/11/2024 10:35

Sorry hope I didn't worry anyone there! I have checked online and think it may be hormone related (due my period) and also I take co-codomol for a pain condition and apparently that can cause this.
