Ladies I really need your help. I've had no side effects so far apart from tiredness up until now. I took my 3rd dose of 2.5mg on sunday which was 1 day earlier than usual as I was told it was ok to do this to switch the day I administered by 1 day. The following day around 2pm I started getting diarrhea and sulphur burps and feeling bloated and awful. I spent the next 16 hours being sick and on the loo and honestly never felt so rough. The day before I injected I had 2 fajitas (not spicy) for dinner and the day I started being ill all I had was a bacon & chicken sandwich from the co op and a banana. I'm not sure what to do now as I'm due to move up to 5mg this sunday but i'm scared I'll react again like that. Has anyone else had anything similar happen? I just cant pin point what caused it after 3 weeks as I hadnt eaten particularly badly.

SilenceInside · 07/11/2024 15:59

Aren't you due another 2.5mg rather than going up to 5mg @Darksideoftheprune ? If you've done 3 injections at 2.5mg already?

Darksideoftheprune · 07/11/2024 16:01

Sorry I meant dose 4! Definitely finished the pen.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 07/11/2024 16:07

@Darksideoftheprune it is the cumulative effect of the drug building up in your system, which will have been slightly increased further by injecting a day earlier.

SilenceInside · 07/11/2024 16:08

So the amount of the drug in your system will be the highest it's yet been as the levels builds with each injection. You may well have got these side effects if you had injected on day 7 instead of day 6.

I had something similar on my 3 week at 5mg and was worried about going up to 7.5mg. So I did a 5mg dose out of my 7.5 mg pen, and then used that pen to move up each week till the last injection was 7.5mg. In your situation you could do a half dose from your 5mg pen to give you 2.5mg and see how you go.

Darksideoftheprune · 07/11/2024 16:17

Thank you both. I thought a day early would be fine as thats what I had read and I was so close to going up to 5mg i didnt think it would make such a difference. I think I will do a half dose like suggested as perhaps I need longer on 2.5

WeAllHaveWings · 07/11/2024 16:33

@Darksideoftheprune the side effects can come and go. In the first weeks I was mostly constipated, but then in week 3 out of nowhere it was 360 degree turnaround I spent most of the day on the loo. It happened twice in the first 8 weeks. Weeks 9 - 18 I've been fine with very few side effects, until yesterday when the constipation is back with a vengeance.

No change of schedule, no change of dose, no different foods.

Injecting a day early shouldn't make that much difference, but it might just have tipped you over your tolerance. Have a look at the GLP1 plotter website and enter how you have injected vs how you should have and you will see the difference in the build up of concentration (I doubt it is much).

I assume you know you can take 2.5mg from a 5mg pen with 30 clicks (or more if you want to) if you decide you are not ready to move up yet? You don't need to move up the doses if you are getting the positive effects you want/are getting side effects and want to take more time to get used to the medication.

Thanks so much for the advice I really appreciate it, I honestly didnt realise there was so much fluidity in the side effects I just thought you either reacted or didnt.

Yes I assumed you just counted the clicks so I'll do that, if I stay on 2.5 dose though that means the 5mg pen will last 8 weeks instead of 4, is that right? I just better make sure I dont over click 🤣

I'm very tired day after injection but can wake up in the morning without feeling starving and can go so much longer without feeling hunger pangs. I'm down 13lbs now but half of that is from being so very ill.

Darksideoftheprune · 07/11/2024 16:44

Never heard of the glp1 plotter so will check that out asap!

WeAllHaveWings · 07/11/2024 17:01

@Darksideoftheprune The instructions say 30 days. I have been taking 3.75mg (45 clicks on 5mg pen, I count once and mark with a ballpoint for next time) for 13 weeks now and now stretch my 5mg pen to 6 weeks (35 days) injecting on days 0,7,14,21,28,35.

5 days over feels low risk to me but I don't have any hard evidence to say it is, you need to make your own risk assessment on that, but I personally wouldn't take it further than 35 days. Depending on your provider they might also challenge why you are not ordering every 4 weeks.

RobinEllacotStrike · 07/11/2024 19:48

Back from my circuit class at the gym where I have been surrounded by large mirrors for 45 minutes. I missed a few weeks due to various stuff, but I do love this class even though many of the exercises I have to modify and from about 15 minutes in I feel like I am about to puke.

I can absolutely see I am slimmer now - and I quite like it. Even my massive double chin has diminished.

Despite my recent absenses I am now one of the regulars in this class, and the guys give me a "Well done, good work" etc at the end of the class now. "You did well too" I reply.

Onwards!

Darlinghag · 07/11/2024 20:27

Thanks all re: the lack of excitement! Its so wild to me, I am discovering so many non hunger/food changes its odd to me!!

And 7.5mg is still working well for me. This is my third dose of the pen (although I did 6.25mg for first dose!) and today I accidentally didn’t eat til 6.30!! Its not my usual style as when I work from home I am good at making sure I at least have lunch/brunch but today I was busy out and it just wasn’t a thing!!!

I’m going to order my next pen tomorrow and think I will have 7.5mg again.

alwaysscared · 07/11/2024 21:53

I've been feeling rotten on Tuesday and today this week.
After reading previous posts about how the build up of concentration of the meds, I'm worried to do 4.5mg again tomorrow.
I don't know if I should go down to 4mg? Or just keep on with what I'm doing? Argh!!

SqueakyDinosaur · 07/11/2024 21:59

@alwaysscared I think you said you feel sick a lot of the time whether or not you are using MJ? Is it worse with MJ? And is the weight loss worth it if it is? I do absolutely get that you need to avoid actually being sick, b/c emetophobia, but I guess it comes down to balancing harms. If it's affecting your life so much you can't function, and more than being overweight is, that's a different decision.

I'm really interested in what a PP said about the similarities between MJ and fluoxetine - I've been on fluoxetine for years b/c the last time I stopped it and then had to restart, both experiences were so horrific that I'd rather take it forever than do that again. I don't think I get the numbing effect very strongly with that, but it's definitely there with MJ.

alwaysscared · 07/11/2024 22:15

@SqueakyDinosaur I'm on fluoxetine too!
Yes, I do get nauseous a lot anyway, it's just been way worse this week.
I absolutely need to stay on MJ, I'm diabetic, have sleep apnoea and have at least another 4 stone to lose.
I tried early this year to do it without the help of MJ, was good for 16 weeks, exercising twice a day, eating well, but I didn't lose a single pound. I'm now 2lbs off losing 2 stone in 9 weeks, so I really need to keep going with it. I just don't know the best way to do it.
I'm a full time carer for my autistic son who has severe mental health issues and doesn't attend school (he has a tutor that comes to the house) and I'm finding the days when I'm feeling really bad, really hard. Being supportive to him when feeling rotten is hard.

SqueakyDinosaur · 07/11/2024 23:46

Oh @alwaysscared my heart is hurting for you. I so very much hope you can find a way to carry on, if it is working for you as far as weight loss is concerned. You are doing brilliantly in terms of weight loss - obviously not in terms of feeling well - so I am really crossing my fingers for you.

SqueakyDinosaur · 07/11/2024 23:48

Are there things you can do which get you out of the house? I do realise that's tricky, given your son's needs, but it's so important that you can have some life of your own.

Arglefraster · 07/11/2024 23:48

So good to read all your updates, the NSV especially as they seem much more real than numbers!

I am due to take second jag tomorrow but I have to be in good form on Saturday afternoon so I'm looking for advice!

I've been very lucky & had nothing beyond a mild headache this week (& morning diarrhoea but that's been my normal for a while) but looking at the GLP plotter it seems like this jag could be quite a jump in the concentration in my body so I am wondering when to take.

Last week I didn't take until 11pm & tomorrow I can take anytime so I have more than 12 hours to play with.... I wonder if it would better to take tomorrow morning rather than tomorrow evening? Or stick to evening? Or is there just no way of knowing?

(Pretty sure no one can tell me for sure but I still wanted to ask 🙈 thanks)

SqueakyDinosaur · 07/11/2024 23:52

I instinctively take at night, because I was initially worried about side effects, but now, I would be happy to take at any time because (famous last words) so far, I haven't had any....

Arglefraster · 07/11/2024 23:53

alwaysscared have* *you tried taking one of the anti nausea meds?
(Cyclizine is the one I have a note of to order if I need it)

Arglefraster · 07/11/2024 23:57

Touching wood for you!
That was my instinct too but I read that the drug takes 8-72 hours from injection to peak blood concentration (as usual my need to research everything ends up giving me decision paralysis 🙄) so it seems like taking at night means I'm potentially sleeping through the climbing levels & waking to high concentration ...

WeAllHaveWings · 08/11/2024 00:16

@Arglefraster the jump on your 2nd 2.5mg dose isn't that much. If you have only put in 2.5mg to the plotter the scale is deceptive. Remember 2,5mg is a small starting dose.

Fill in 5mg and 7.5mg pens in the plotter and you will see how small an increase it actually is.

WeAllHaveWings · 08/11/2024 00:19

Done it for you, you can see 2.5mg dose increase, but it is comparatively small.

Arglefraster · 08/11/2024 01:42

Thank you wings that was really kind.
I understand it's a small absolute change but it's the relative change that concerns me - in my overthinking way - w.r.t. feeling good on Saturday afternoon.

I'll probably end up splitting the difference & jagging at lunchtime 😆

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 08/11/2024 05:00

I've always taken mine on Friday mornings as I have Friday off work so wasn't bothered if I was tired during the day. I find that by Friday evening I'm really tired and ready for an early night. Saturdays I can be a bit lethargic but nothing major.

Last week I was delayed as I was away so I took it at 6pm Friday evening- the tiredness on Saturday was mega!! So I think I've been sleeping through the worst of it before, by taking at 8am. I'm going to revert to a morning dose this week.
