I got abused by a total drunk nut job at one point on the train a few years ago for daring to be large and sit in a seat. She ranted and ranted and ranted (and my arse was totally 100% on my own seat and in my own space cos I made sure of it) and was totally crazy.

I'm feeling the egg burps today - cue emergency run into Tesco for mints to suck... and I came out with nothing extra at all - which never happens (although if they hadn't had sold out of Pokemon cards I would have bought a pack of them for my collection but they don't contain calories!)

That must have been awful, I don't sit on a train unless I have one of my skinny kids to sit next to for similar reasons!

My jag just arrived via lovely post woman

I've taken my first shot of 7.5mg MJ today - hopefully this will bump me off the plateau I've been on for a month.

I did drink quite a lot (comparatively) of alcohol in October - being on holiday & having guests etc. I'm hopeful the 7.5mg will put me off the booze again too so I can have another big push before Xmas.

Orangesandlemons77 · 01/11/2024 15:09

My scales have tun out of batteries (probably strained it from weighing me!) and it is quite a nice. break actually. Might just weight myself when needed for the next pen

BM202 · 01/11/2024 15:15

@Timetofindme that is spot on. I keep reminding myself that I have never been successful at being anywhere near this consistent at weight loss before so just need to keep going and we’ll get there!

RobinEllacotStrike · 01/11/2024 15:41

@Orangesandlemons77 my home scales are a bit erratic.
I usually got to a lively Sunday yoga class, followed by a swim/steam/spa etc and I weigh myself after that on the fancy gym scales.

Its a relief not to weigh at home.

Mind you my maintance plan might need a bit more home weighing as I'm concerned about weight creeping back on quickly if I don't pay attenion.

alwaysscared · 01/11/2024 17:52

I've done 4.5mg, wish me luck 😬😬

People on trains can be absolute tossers. Even more so when you're a wheelchair user. You just become a tosser magnet then. My favourite tactic about 85% of the time is to become loud and posh. Think Hyacinth Bucket kind of thing. Most people don't know where to look or what to do when you call them out. The Railway Guardian app is also kinda useful as you can make reports without people having to listen to you speak to someone. You can always message 61016.

I've been away for a few days with the youngest. Even though I've tried to pick the lower calorie/healthy options on menus, it's probably still much more than I would have eaten at home and I will be VERY surprised if I have actually lost anything. What's also surprised me is that either portion sizes have got bigger or I am eating way less. My 11 year old ended up polishing off my dinner earlier because I couldn't eat it all.

Mrsredlipstick · 01/11/2024 19:48

@alltablenochairs do you book passenger assist?
I'm disabled and walk with aids. It's a great free service and the guards throw able bodied people out of disabled seats.

alltablenochairs · 01/11/2024 20:02

@Mrsredlipstick yep- I use the app because I got sick of having to repeat the same thing every time I got on a train I.e. the dimensions of my chair in mm. The app has all of this zeroed in.

If you ever travel on Avanti, they have a WhatsApp number you can message while you're travelling to check things like 'will my assistance be waiting for me at the other end'.

What most train companies won't publicise is that if you book assistance and it's failed to be provided then if you go through the complaints system then you're automatically entitled to half the cost of your ticket back as compensation. Most stations are pretty good when it comes to assistance. I'm wary of big mainline stations though with Euston being a notable example. In my experience their assistance has been consistently poor.

I'm similar @BM202, 18lbs lost in 9 weeks. I should be thrilled but it's hard not to compare to others who've lost so much more, especially with such low starting weights. I'm still over 21 stone!!

2lbs a week is great though. I'm trying really hard to listen to the rational part of my brain.**

If I can keep going at this rate (the first time I've ever felt like I might be able to sustain this) I'll be under 14 stone by Christmas 2025 - last time I weighed that I was 21. I'm now 45. I just think this could be so transformative for me and I'm trying to hold on to that and not focus on anyone else. I've contemplated coming off the MJ threads on here altogether but this one in particular is so supportive and we all come from a similar place, it's great to see the progress of those further along the journey than I am.

I am consistently losing about 2lb a week now I have got over the inital woossh and I am happy with that - I am trying to eat the right amount of kcal based on my TDEE. I worry that anything more is going to be unsustanable.

I have a excel spreadsheet set up that I enter my weight in and it has a nice wee graph that shows how much I have lost in total going towards my current target weight. Seeing how much is orange is a real motivator.

Lovely graph @CatTraveler!

I've taken my first dose, just left with the fretting about the side effects now 😂

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 02/11/2024 07:03

Ooh love that graph @CatTraveler

I just use the tracker in my Renpho app which is helpful when I have a gain. I do jump up and down a lot within an overall downward trajectory

Weigh day for me, mid week 16, on 7.5mg

SW: 241.2lbs
CW: 207.8lbs
GW: 160?

This week: -1.8lbs
Total: -33.4lbs (41% of the way there)

Pootling along nicely 💪
Going up to 10mg next time after 2 x 7.5mg pens.

Next milestone is at 206, 2.5 stone lost, hopefully will hit that next week.

NearlyNewHip · 02/11/2024 07:42

Congratulations on your losses ladies!!!
I've just done my week 3 weigh in (took my 4th 2.5mg jab last night) and I've put on a pound.....
Trying not to be disappointed, still an overall loss of 7 lbs in 3 weeks. Rational me keeps telling myself that it's just a blip, as I've been really good. I tracked everything and only ate my 1400 calories each day. Water weight, maybe the mashed potatoes last night or just being a woman with hormones.....who knows....But hoping for better next week x

gimmemounjaro · 02/11/2024 07:51

@NearlyNewHip

Ime the effect does wear off quite quickly on 2.5mg.

In week 1, I lost 4.9lbs. It then tailed off each week until by week 4 I actually gained a pound. But everything improved and settled once I moved up to 5mg and beyond. Since then I have lost every week except one (so 11 out of 12 weeks).

Thank you x Have my 5mg pen in the fridge ready to go. Will give the bonus dose a go first, as going away for the weekend next week (so was going to take half a dose out of the new 5mg pen anyway, don't want to move up and then have D & V on a girly weekend away!!!) and then move up to 5mg. Been uhhming and ahhing about counting clicks....but sod it, will give it a go and if I feel like death warmed up, I'll take a little less the week after.

gimmemounjaro · 02/11/2024 08:02

I think I'm going to try a break from the chat for a while - I seem to have replaced thinking about food all the time with thinking about Mounjaro all the time 🤦‍♀️

And because I haven't told anyone in real life, it also means I am on these threads a lot and basically have my phone in my hand way too much. I'm also weighing every day which I'd rather not do. So it will be tough but I'm going to delete the MN app and try a month of not posting, not weighing, just focusing on the process of eating well and exercising and enjoying how that feels. See you all in a month (or most likely later today when I can't stand it any longer 😂).

Darlinghag · 02/11/2024 10:14

Morning all!

its a 0.9lbs loss for me. (Although at points this week it was .5lb more!). I’m a few days out from my period so it kind of fits for me.

This week I have been on my first 7.5mg dose. The suppression was very strong - days 1 and 2 I really struggled to eat at all, and I don’t think I really felt any hunger until yesterday - day 5. The first three days I couldn’t eat more than 1200 cals a day, and I couldn’t top 1500 at all. Today (day 6) feels ok, I should eat as intended! I assume things will wear off a bit as I get used to the dose!

Aside from the fullness making me feel a touch nauseous, my only other side effects were being cold, and the constipation effect (which is beneficial for me, because I have no gallbldder and MJ improves this!) was not at good as it usually is. Although I didn’t get the upset stomach that preceeds it.

I’d heard some tales of folks really struggling with the jump in dose so thought I’d share, although I did go from 5mg, to 5.5mg, 6.25mg and then 7.5mg.

@NearlyNewHip It seemed quite common for folks to gain on week 3 of 2.5mg!!

@gimmemounjaro good luck! I get it - I also find it hard to not think about it - in that ‘excited to get it done’ way and I still think about food - not even because I want to eat it, but to make sure its got my macros and that I am not under eating (bizarre!!!). I hope it will settle for me eventually too.

Snozzlemaid · 02/11/2024 10:19

I am half a lb away from onederland!
Can't believe I'm almost under 200lbs. Started at 258lbs in May.

Orangesandlemons77 · 02/11/2024 10:36

I got the scales working again and am now 92.5kg from 101kg starting weight, which is going Ok I think! I'm feeling a bit better today and more able to eat something, less sick

have a good weekend everyone

fourquenelles · 02/11/2024 10:58

4th injection of 2.5mg this morning and weigh in. I am 9lbs down from 17.10 to 17.01 stark bollock naked. So happy with how the little naggy voice in my head alway looking for something to put in my mouth has gone. I do have sulphur burps but a ginger boiled sweet sees those off and I am slightly constipated but still managing a poo once a day so I have got off lightly I think. Onward and upward (or downward?)

Crouton19 · 02/11/2024 11:27

I've been stuck at between 11st5 and 11st8 (seems to fluctuate daily) for three weeks now, having incredibly come back from holiday 5lb lighter than when I left. I know it is due to (1) not doing any real exercise and (2) not meal planning, as without an appetite nothing appeals, and I end up having some toast and peanut butter in the evening just to make sure I don't starve. My DH is helpfully cooking a couple of times a week, generally something chicken and rice based, but I just can't finish it. My go to protein yogurts even taste horrible now, and I was reliant on them in the first few weeks.

How do people who never had the food noise make sure they eat enough and properly? Do they all plan in advance, batch cook, set alarms?

TorturedParentsDepartment · 02/11/2024 11:53

Oh my god the side effects walloped me yesterday afternoon. Runs so bad I was up and down to the loo, through the night (gradually getting less frequent thank god) and I threw up my tiny portion of dinner. I was at the point where I was like "have I broken my stomach with this?"

Committed to seeing through this week, seeing how fast the side effects abate and trying desperately to get through the whole of the first pen to see if it's tolerable right now.

Oh no that sounds dreadful. What had you eaten before?
