I've been stuck at between 11st5 and 11st8 (seems to fluctuate daily) for three weeks now, having incredibly come back from holiday 5lb lighter than when I left. I know it is due to (1) not doing any real exercise and (2) not meal planning, as without an appetite nothing appeals, and I end up having some toast and peanut butter in the evening just to make sure I don't starve. My DH is helpfully cooking a couple of times a week, generally something chicken and rice based, but I just can't finish it. My go to protein yogurts even taste horrible now, and I was reliant on them in the first few weeks.

How do people who never had the food noise make sure they eat enough and properly? Do they all plan in advance, batch cook, set alarms?

Our food noise drowns out the normal hunger cues that other people experience. People who have never experienced food noise still get hungry, so they eat, then they stop when they are full. They don’t self-medicate with food, or eat because they are bored / sad / angry as a way of avoiding their true feelings. Experiencing very high suppression on MJ is not a reflection of how ‘normal’ people regard food.

I do empathise. I find food shopping very difficult on high suppression days. I have got into a rhythm of batch cooking and meal planning at the end of the week when the suppression is waning and I can think about food again. Having small portions of very easy foods in the fridge helps, eg boiled eggs, yoghurt.

I have been feeling very suppressed this week (compared to the previous week where I had a bigger appetite than usual) so slightly surprised by the wee 1lb loss, but a loss is a loss and I'll take it! 🙂

End of week - 19 (5 x 2.5mg, 14 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 42.8
CW - 17st 8lbs BMI 35.2
Losses - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1
Total loss - 3st 11lbs (53lbs), 17%
Current Target - 17st by Christmas🎄 (7 weeks, 8lbs to go!)

I'll blame that 1/3 of a tub of cottage cheese you all had me trying last week 🤣

Hope everyone who is suffering with side effects gets some relief from them soon! 💗

I missed my lentil soup this week so planning to make a big pot again this weekend to see me through next week! 🍲

TorturedParentsDepartment · 02/11/2024 14:21

Today I’ve had some coocked chicken pieces and a protein shake and that’s it so far (not wanting to tempt fate now I can almost trust a fart again). I didn’t get up till stupid late though

Doggymummar · 02/11/2024 14:41

I only eat once a day so today I have roast some beetroot and will be having those warm later with a feta salad that is marinated in the fridge. It makes four portions so will have that a few days. Tomorrow I am making celeriac and lentil soup so that should see me through a few days

That really doesn't sound like enough food or calories to do regularly. Why do you only eat once a day?

Doggymummar · 02/11/2024 14:51

I've always fasted, for decades. It's not always dinner, yesterday it was lunch. It is loads of calories I've not put them in the app yet, but it was 6 tbsp of oil in the marinade on its own with a whole block of feta, two pita breads celery onion, radishes etc I reckon it will be about 6000 cals, I'll put it in the app and see

Doggymummar · 02/11/2024 15:02

Ooh you're right actually it's only 2179 calories, I thought all the oil and bread would be far more. I have so e smoked salmon I can add to increase the calories, thank you ☺️

I'm glad you're adding more. Having one salad for a whole day really isn't enough. Not trying to be arsey but I'd be worried if someone I knew only had that.

Crouton19 · 02/11/2024 16:22

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping thank you, that explanation makes sense. I'm clearing out old clothes today, and will see if I can do the same with the kitchen cupboards and freezer tomorrow and make space for some frozen batched cooked goodness!

Crouton19 · 03/11/2024 09:38

Well, it turns out that clearing out old clothes can be quite emotional! I went through my wardrobe and a suitcase in the loft I had forgotten about, and have now got a few bags containing about 20 pairs of trousers, 3 suit jackets, 2 pairs of shoes and some smart-ish tops all ready for the charity shop, all in good nick and some still with labels on. DH had a laugh watching me try them all on! Some of the trousers were flapping about, they were so large, or they fit in one place but not another.

I recognised some items I had bought in expectation of losing a few lbs years ago, and others ordered online in desperate times but never really fit (I have wide calves and the skinny/tapering trend was definitely a problem era for me).

I've held back a couple of pairs I might still slim into (you over know!) and another couple which fit fine but I have no idea if they are in style. It has always been tricky for me to find trousers which fit everywhere so I don't want to chuck things out unnecessarily, but also don't want to look like an ageing millennial with my Gen Z colleagues 😄

This drug truly is amazing. Years of weight gain and the upset that came with it are gradually being lifted. As I've said before, I'm at a weight now which 15 years ago depressed me and I thought I was an elephant, and now I'm back there I really appreciate it.

Doggymummar · 03/11/2024 09:44

Congratulations @Crouton19. I know how you feel. Perhaps put them on VINTED so you can treat yourself to something new, and help out others losing weight on the way? I sold all my 22 20 and 18s and got £750 which I used to go on holiday last June and left some in the account for new clothes. I don't stay any size for long so seems silly to buy new. Currently buying bras in 34HH as my boob density is much less.

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 03/11/2024 09:48

That sounds fabulous @Crouton19! I'm looking forward to being able to have a bit of a clear out. Am going to be brutal, I'm sure I've saved so many clothes to fit into one day that will now be hopelessly dated. Will be a while for me as I'm tall so it takes a lot of weight loss to go down a dress size - a stone and a half down so far and I haven't gone down a size yet 😬

Bibulous · 03/11/2024 10:28

End of week 2. I've lost 8lbs this week which is more than I'm comfortable with. I'm moving house so have been on my feet non-stop all week and I know I've not been eating properly. I've just installed an app on my phone I can use to keep track of what I'm eating so I can make sure I'm getting enough calories and protein. I never imagined I'd need an app to make sure I was eating enough!

Total loss so far is 16lbs. BMI's down from 53.6 to 51.3.

alwaysscared · 03/11/2024 12:24

A little boost this morning, 2.5lbs off since yesterday!! So 25lbs off all together.
I'm glad the scales are moving again, it's been a long 3 weeks.
I've probably cursed it now and it'll go back on or I won't lose again for ages!

alwaysscared · 03/11/2024 14:16

Actually, it's 25.5lbs!

TorturedParentsDepartment · 03/11/2024 14:40

I weighed myself for the prescription at my heaviest - period weight on, water weight on, straight post holiday at 24st 3lb - would have expected to lose a fair bit as my cycle moved on, cold wet reality of being back in the UK hit etc etc - but I'm 23st 4lb today. I'll take it - even though I know it's not "proper" weight loss!

Orangesandlemons77 · 03/11/2024 14:47

Just ordered a couple of protein shakes / bars online as really not stomaching much atm and worried about protein. Quite tired today as well.

Hi have been lurking for months first time properly posting - feeling a bit meh - hoping some others here can help nudge me out of it - basically started mj end June, after reading the original threads. Start weight was 246lbs (so embarrassed to say that out loud) and now after 17 weeks have hit a milestone of losing 50lbs. Which should make me feel brilliant but i’ve calculated that I still have another 30lbs to go before I hit the top end of a healthy bmi…… my weight loss has slowed as expected I am loosing 6lbs a pen now meaning I might have another 5/6 months left to go….. whilst I am grateful I can afford it, grateful I have lost 50lbs…. I am so frustrated that I still feel fat still feel like it’s a massive hill to climb….whilst most of these threads people are talking about 2/3 stone to lose…. It’s like i’m starting all over again and am so frustrated I let myself get into this state and feeling demotivated. Does anyone else feel like this or is it just me with my pity party? Any tips on how to kick off the motivation again?

Yes, I know what you mean. I have lost 10kg so far and another 10kg should bring me to around BMI 30 but I have worked out I have until about next May/ June to get to the healthy BMI level, which is quite a long time and expense!

Orangesandlemons77 · 03/11/2024 18:06

I have started doing mini goals in my diary, 4kg a month (around 2lb a week) so going to try ticking them off as I go along, might break it down a bit.

NearlyNewHip · 03/11/2024 18:16

This may sound silly to some, but I've printed myself pages with squares to colour in with each pound lost and stuck them to the inside of my wardrobe door. 75 lbs ish to loose so 3 page of 25 squares each. Mine looks a little sad still (only 3 weeks in and 8 squares coloured) but visual things like that really help me x

Swissrollover · 03/11/2024 18:23

I'm halfway to goal after a similar loss and time frame. This thread is a good place to be as we are all in a similar place. Without MJ, would we have got to this stage, and so quickly? Unlikely, as I'm sure most of us have been trying for years.

Try to see the positives in what you have achieved already. I bet weight loss isn't your only benefit so far.

SilenceInside · 03/11/2024 18:26

I'm right there with you @Millymollymine. I started around the same time as you and have made substantial progress towards my eventual end goal, but I am not yet halfway! My BMI has reduced from 50 to 38 ish at the moment, which is great and I feel so much better. Much healthier in so many ways. But I still feel like I'm just starting! Some of the people who started at the same time as me are now at their goal and looking at maintenance. Which is brilliant for them, but does serve to underline how far I have yet to go.

For visual.. I saw someone do this.. thought was good.

2 jars or vases, pop how ever many coloured balls or stones or something small in 1, then for each pound lost you transfer 1 ball or stone to the empty jar..

Snozzlemaid · 03/11/2024 18:36

@Millymollymine You're not alone. I started at 18st 6lbs so ideally needed to lose 8 stone.
I've just reached a 4 stone loss and am bloody chuffed but at the same time, it feels such a huge mountain to climb again. It's disheartening to think it's probably going to take a year in total to get to a healthy weight.
But then again I do feel it is possible thanks to MJ. And it's giving me the willpower to keep going.
This is why I moved over to this thread. I started on the June one but feel this is a better for me as others on this thread know what I'm facing. Instead of just having a couple of stone to lose.
