Hi everyone wanted some advice. I started on 2.5mg 3 weeks ago so this Friday would be my fourth 2.5mg dose. This week however I haven't even dropped a pound and I'm like wtf! I've been eating well since started completely in a calorie deficit, eating cleaner, going for a walk an hour a day but the scales have not budged this week. I have the 5mg pen could I just start on that this Friday? My hunger suppression wasn't as good this week than the last two but I still was mindful of how much I was eating and stuck to the deficit plan. Any tips?

Time4changeagain · 31/10/2024 09:24

@inneedofaglowup My advice would be to stick with the 2.5. You have only had 3 doses so far, give it time. There could be many reasons you haven’t lost BUT you will.
Have you had good losses before? It could be your body catching up. Have you been going to the loo regularly? Is it nearly totm? What is your water intake like? Etc….
I’ve been on MJ roughly 5 months now and sometimes don’t lose anything for weeks, some weeks I have put on too. Overall I am still losing though

Doggymummar · 31/10/2024 09:29

I'm on 5mg and so far this month I've gained too. There can be all sorts of reasons I just keep ploughing away. I have been 2lb off 4 stone lost for months though which is galling. Will move up this month.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 31/10/2024 11:00

First jab done - feel like I screwed it up slightly as I think the needle didn't quite stay fully in and a bit was lost, so shall see how things pan out from that. At the very least I'll titrate up extra gently! God knows I need the help cos all I want to do today is flipping eat.

WeeklyJab · 31/10/2024 12:17

WeAllHaveWings · 31/10/2024 00:01

@WeeklyJab can you not have the same meals just smaller portions / stop when full?

They all eat meat and I don't.

Usually I cook something for both meat and veggie options or something with fish as a compromise, and the carnivores have a bit of both. However, as it's basically just me as the outlier I am not bothering making a separate full thing for me. So I just cook a meat thing for them and do myself something small and quick on the side.

See also the cakes and scones - I'm not partaking but the others are very keen.

I' m busily filling the freezer up with meals for them as well, so it's a very food based visit (as is often the case) but not really any of it for me!

gimmemounjaro · 31/10/2024 13:06

@inneedofaglowup

I had something similar - lost in weeks 1 and 2 of 2.5mg and actually gained in weeks 3 and 4. I ended up with a net loss of 4lbs over the four weeks and was really disappointed. Then I went on to 5mg and lost more than that in the first four days.

2.5mg isn't supposed to be a therapeutic dose, its job is to get your body ready for 5mg, and that's supposed to be over four weeks. I would take the last 2.5mg dose, maybe with a bit extra if you can get it out of the pen (I think I did about 3.25mg on week 4 as a stepping stone to 5mg). And then look forward to a better month.

SqueakyDinosaur · 31/10/2024 13:45

@alwaysscared how are you doing? Have you decided what you'll do for your next dose?

I know you suffer from emetophobia, but I can't remember if you've felt nauseous IRL or if it's the fear of it that is preoccupying you?

alwaysscared · 31/10/2024 13:51

@SqueakyDinosaur thanks for checking in. I've decided to do 4mg tomorrow and see how I get on with that.
Another week with no weight loss, which is gutting but I keep telling myself to trust the process.
Yes, I have felt nauseous on MJ, but have anti nausea from the docs, and as an emetophobe, I feel nauseous most of the time anyway!!
It's my birthday today, was hoping to lose as a birthday gift, but was not to be!

SqueakyDinosaur · 31/10/2024 14:01

Awww, happy birthday! I hope you can find a way to make this work for you.

alwaysscared · 31/10/2024 14:05

@SqueakyDinosaur thank you
The annoying thing is it was working, I lost 23lbs in the first 5/6 weeks, now nothing.
I'm doing a lot more exercise so not sure if I'm building muscle too (my fancy scales say my percentage of muscle has gone up), but it's still disheartening to see no loss for 2/3 weeks

BakingNana · 31/10/2024 15:27

Milestone day today - I am in the 11s - 11 stone 13.8lbs, so only just but I will take it. Down from 16st 5lbs

Orangesandlemons77 · 31/10/2024 15:30

I'm not sure if this helps any but I felt a bit nauseous when I first started 2.5mg but with 5mg it has been much better. maybe I am more used to it now.

Wow congratulations!

My first pen is arriving tomorrow so I'm desperately hoping it works/I don't have horrible side effects. I felt far too big for the train seat I was sitting in today so I'd love fitting comfortably in a train seat as a NSV one day 🤞🤞🤞

What an amazing milestone- well done you!

CatTraveler · 01/11/2024 08:07

Had a bit of a "moment" this morning at my gym class - I was doing an exercise and used a 15kg dumbell... It was hard going with that weight but then I realised that I had been carrying that amount of weight (and more) around on my body....

Week 17, 7.5mg
SW - 134.7 kg (BMI 49.5)
CW - 118.7kg (BMI 43.6)
Total loss 16kg (11.8% of SW)
Mini GW - 110kg (BMI 40.4)
Currently 64.8% completed
First GW - 80kg (BMI 29.4)
Currently 29.25% completed

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 01/11/2024 08:12

That's a great moment @CatTraveler. I had a similar thought when I lifted my sleeping 25kg child out of the car yesterday. He was a dead weight and weighed a ton, but is still less than the excess that I was carrying around with me all the time a few months ago!

Incredible, really inspiring!

My 5th injection today, have gone up to 5mg and now terrified of the side effects but crossing my fingers it’ll be fine!

1lb lost this week bringing my total to 11lb lost in 5 weeks. Hard not to feel a bit disappointed when others are getting much greater losses and I did a lot of walking this week, but then I remind myself that I just need to keep going and that it’s giving up that is my downfall normally.

SW - 18st 3
CW - 17st 6
GW - ???

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 01/11/2024 10:08

I'm similar @BM202, 18lbs lost in 9 weeks. I should be thrilled but it's hard not to compare to others who've lost so much more, especially with such low starting weights. I'm still over 21 stone!!

2lbs a week is great though. I'm trying really hard to listen to the rational part of my brain.**

If I can keep going at this rate (the first time I've ever felt like I might be able to sustain this) I'll be under 14 stone by Christmas 2025 - last time I weighed that I was 21. I'm now 45. I just think this could be so transformative for me and I'm trying to hold on to that and not focus on anyone else. I've contemplated coming off the MJ threads on here altogether but this one in particular is so supportive and we all come from a similar place, it's great to see the progress of those further along the journey than I am.

Mrsredlipstick · 01/11/2024 10:29

@PotatoBreadForTheWin you are doing fine.
I lost five stone over the last two years and it's not gone back on. I have no loose skin either (just a wrinkly neck). It's my first jab of wegovy today.
I do look and feel almost normal. I'm 58 so I suspect if I'd lost it quicker I'd not look as firm.
Keep going.

LoquaciousPineapple · 01/11/2024 12:57

Big milestone today- 20% of my starting weight lost! Hoping I might get to 5 stone total loss by the end of the month!

I'm still struggling with the side effects I mentioned before, but they're coming and going rather than being constant like earlier in the week. Hopefully they'll calm down completely but I'm keeping an eye in case I need to go to the doctors.

I got abused by a total drunk nut job at one point on the train a few years ago for daring to be large and sit in a seat. She ranted and ranted and ranted (and my arse was totally 100% on my own seat and in my own space cos I made sure of it) and was totally crazy.

I'm feeling the egg burps today - cue emergency run into Tesco for mints to suck... and I came out with nothing extra at all - which never happens (although if they hadn't had sold out of Pokemon cards I would have bought a pack of them for my collection but they don't contain calories!)

Timetofindme · 01/11/2024 13:57

@PotatoBreadForTheWin @BM202 I'm not losing huge amounts each week. 1-2 pounds a week is generally accepted as a sustainable weight loss, and if I wasn't on MJ I'd be thrilled to be consistently losing that.

I think you're right in that we just have to focus on ourselves and not worry about how much others are losing. I'm trying not to have too big a deficit as I love weightlifting and don't want to lose muscle and I also don't want to cut calories too hard and then struggle to maintain that when I'm off the MJ. I'm trying to see this as support to make sustainable changes for the long term. Hard sometimes though especially as I have a long way to go so really do need to be patient!

Oh - and I had lost a whole 0.2lbs on weigh day this week. But a further full pound by the next day 😄!

alwaysscared · 01/11/2024 14:01

It's getting very boring and annoying seeing the same weight on the scales for the past 3 weeks!! Grrrr
