Right, I'm getting royally pissed off now.
I'm hungry, and when I say hungry, I mean ravenous. Half way through the second week on 3.5mg and tonight I can't stop eating. It's like my binge eating disorder has reared its ugly head.
I know I won't have lost anything this week, maybe even gained. That will be three weeks where my weight loss has stalled.
Friday I'll do 3.75mg but I'm not holding out much hope.
I know I should probably take 5mg but I'm so bloody scared.
I'm going to be one of these people that it doesn't work for, I just know it. It's worked up until the last 3 weeks and I'm getting so bloody fed up!!

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/10/2024 21:38

I found 5mg fine, it could be Ok. Try not to beat yourself up alwaysscared you have been doing so well.

Darlinghag · 29/10/2024 21:44

I get 100-130g protein most days. 18g is incomplete protein from my collagen supplements, but the rest is food.

i eat chicken virtually everyday, and then its a mix of eggs, cheese (babybel!) and chicken/turkey alternatives of sausages and bacon. I also eat fridge raiders (which i know some people will think is bad, but the calorie to protein ratio is great and they are an EXCELLENT snack!).

sometimes there is milk for porridge or yoghurt.

tuna is another. And if you’re trying to find a good carb alternative - itsu soba noodles are much lower calorie than others or pasta and have 6.1g protein per serving! There is also protein to be had in rice and bagels!

i don’t eat any protein bars or protein specific labelled products.

alwaysscared · 29/10/2024 21:44

Maybe I should do 4mg, anyone know how many clicks of the 5mg pen that would be?

Darlinghag · 29/10/2024 21:46

if you are doing 3.75, you will be fine with 5, i reckon. I did that jump!

honestly, i would say do your best not to self prophesise! You can do this!!!

Doggymummar · 29/10/2024 21:49

I went to 5mg couple of weeks ago and had no side effects. The difference in suppression is massive for me.

TheWildRoseBear · 29/10/2024 22:20

Arglefraster · 29/10/2024 17:48

Sorry to hear that.
I'm waiting for approval from Oushk, they wouldn't let me add a code to the order after I finally managed to complete without a code but have now taken so long I could have cancelled the order & started again! I'm hoping for delivery Friday as it's the one day I can be sure to sign for it & be able start immediately in case I feel lousy.

I like your "wait it out a little longer and just stay fat a little longer." I'm getting all stressed about the possibility of having to start on a different date to the one I expect 🙄😂

You should have got in touch with their customer service, they are very good and fast at replying - would have definitely helped out

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 29/10/2024 22:25

I’m sorry that you are scared @alwaysscared but you are barely on a therapeutic dose. To give the drug a chance to work you are eventually going to have to titrate as the manufacturer recommends. You risk developing a tolerance without experiencing the benefits.

4mg is 80% of 5mg, and 48 is 80% of 60, so 48 clicks. Good luck!

They said no about the code & wont give me a status update beyond waiting for approval by prescriber 🤷‍♀️
The replies were however both prompt & polite.

Thank you for the tips re my trapped wind/bloating. Have woken up this morning and it has sorted itself!! Sipped peppermint tea all day, ate small amounts of bland food (mainly chicken breast pieces). Had a hot bath when home from work and sat with a heat mat on my belly watching TV. Woke up and I must have farted the night away, as all is clear. Thanks again for all the help x x

LoquaciousPineapple · 30/10/2024 07:46

Ugh, for some reason the past month or so I've really been feeling the side effects. I've not changed doses in that time or really changed my diet but suddenly it's hitting me. Before, I didn't have to worry about individual fatty elements in an overall good diet (eg sausages for one meal) but now even the slightest bit of fat is setting me off. I've had d&v all night and the only identifiably fatty thing I ate yesterday was some coconut cream in my dinner (a tiny amount spread over 4 portions when cooking!). Anything fatty gives me a dodgy tummy even if it's not full on diarrhoea. It almost reminds me of when I tried Orlistat!

Annoyingly the physical symptoms are so strong but the mental ones are fading a bit. Obviously nowhere near what they were pre-MJ but I can feel the desire to snack and fleeting cravings popping into my head.

NearlyNewHip · 30/10/2024 07:57

Flashback to Orlistat back in the day ...... the fluorescent yellow stains and being to scared to move in case you sh** yourself!!
Sorry you're not feeling great @LoquaciousPineapple , hope it sorts itself out x x

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 30/10/2024 08:10

@LoquaciousPineapple I’m sorry to hear that - it sounds awful. Do you still have your gallbladder? We are all at greater risk of gallstones because we are on MJ and losing weight and it might be an early sign that you are developing gallstones.

OP posts:
SilverSprings510 · 30/10/2024 08:13

Another -4lbs for me, taking me down to -2st8/-36lb/-16.3kg

Weigh ins: -7, -5, -3, -2, -5, -5, -1, -3, -1, -4✨

Mrsredlipstick · 30/10/2024 08:26

Can i ask is anyone on Wegovy on this thread? I can't have mounjaro as it contraindicates but I've been prescribed Wegovy and hope to receive this Friday. I'm blinking scared as I hate being sick.

NewbieMJ · 30/10/2024 09:09

@alwaysscared I'd do the jump to 5mg and be done, as @VelociraptorsVelociRapping advises, you are not even at the therapeutic dose and I know from reading, MJ only kicks in for some at 7.5mg. I started on 2.5mg with great success, not really enamoured with the 5mg (took the bonus dose on Monday) and have my 7.5mg pen there to start next week. I haven't experienced the suppression yet that people talk about, so hoping for great things from 7.5mg. [I am doing keto (high fat low carb) which makes me feel full and not hungry, so 2 meals a day and MJ is keeping me on track, so it is definitely working, I am just yet to experience "suppression"].

LoquaciousPineapple That sounds awful. My advice to you is to take a pro-biotic every day and see if tackling your gut health makes a difference. Also, see if you can increase your bile production to help digestion. Apple Cider Vinegar is great. I have gallstones, (diagnosed 12 years ago), so have worked very hard over the years by trying to preserve it and get my gallbladder to function as it should. Would a mini fast work for you do you think? Eat nothing, except liquids, to see if you can flush it out of your system?

Doggymummar I eat around 100g of protein a day which is just short of my macros. Food like beef (mince, steak, stew dishes); bacon, low carb sausages, prawns; fish; cream cheese, cheese and other meats are great for protein.

Loving your comments on the kefir and cottage cheese WeAllHaveWings. I love kefir - a good kale shake recipe is to blend 1 cup kefir; 1 cup water, 2 cups kale and 1 cup blueberries. So filling. I don't have it often as I can't tolerate the sugar in the blueberries too often (awful insulin resistance which I am trying to tackle with MJ and weight loss) but for those that eat berries, it really is a lovely healthy drink.

I am 21 pounds down since 2nd September. The first 14 pounds was in 4 weeks, so definitely looking forward to 7.5mg to see if I can step up a gear.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 30/10/2024 09:15

Orlistat worked great for me years and years ago - the yellow shits were an amazing disincentive when contemplating a greasy takeaway!

Had a message this morning that my pen has been dispatched - I'm fully prepared with every supplement and countermeasure possible from all the threads on here, just need the damned pen now. The food noise is terrible for me particularly coming to and from work (I work in community healthcare with a long commute - so miles and miles in the car) and just a battle between "I could pop into Lidl and buy X" and "no you don't need it" every single day.

PodgyOwl · 30/10/2024 09:26

Hi, I've been taking mounjaro for three months and haven't lost a single pound so far :( I started 10mg yesterday, hopefully this will kick-start some weight loss but I'm starting to lose hope. I've been swimming three times a week too

peonym · 30/10/2024 09:29

Hi everyone

Weigh in day at end of week 5 for me (this week was my first 5mg and tolerated well except for one day of a dodgy tummy).

SW (pre MJ losses) 18,7
SW on MJ 16,10
CW 15,9
GW 10,7

An MJ loss of 15lbs in 5 weeks (and an overall loss of almost 3 stone).

Since my heaviest weight above I've dropped my BMI from 45.9 to 38.8 - absolutely delighted with this. My health MOT came back and I have some work to do to continue to reduce these numbers but I feel like I'm taking the right steps.

Would love to see a 14 on the scales pre Christmas!

eigh in day for me. Happy with progress to date, although now that I'm losing weight I want to ensure I'm building up the foundations of exercise and healthy choices for when I (eventually) come off this thing.

End of week 5 weigh in:

SW (lost pre MJ): 18,7
MJ SW: 16,10
CW: 15,9
GW: 10,7

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 30/10/2024 09:45

Well done @peonym!

Welcome @PodgyOwl. I’m sorry to hear you are struggling. Are you tracking what you eat? What calorie deficit are you in?

Have you had support for your BED before and had been offered CBT? Would it be worth reengaging with support for this while taking Mounjaro to see how they could maybe work together for the best outcome?

Not sure if your MJ provider could help provide some support, or if you would need to rely on the NHS which might be tricky.

I assume (I have no idea, as no experience) the triggers for BED would be different and more complex than "just" the hormonal changes/appetite suppression MJ helps with. Doesn't mean MJ might not have benefits for you, but you might need a bit more support to realise the best benefits with your combined BED.

peonym · 30/10/2024 10:15

@alwaysscared totally agree you should take 5mg - 3.75 isn't even an official dose so that's probably why it isn't "working" so to speak. Good luck!

alwaysscared · 30/10/2024 10:41

@WeAllHaveWings no, I haven't received any support, even though it was my psychiatrist that suggested that I had this disorder. I think I will get in contact with BEAT.
I have had CBT for other things many times, and it doesn't seem to work but I have re referred myself recently.
@peonym I've decided to do 4mg this week, see how I get on with that. I've only been doing 3.5mg for the past 2 weeks, not 3.75mg

TorturedParentsDepartment · 30/10/2024 11:36

I've taken pre-meds measurements of all my wobbly bits to have another point of comparison as well as the scales for those weeks where my resolve is wavering. Just waiting on the delivery now - guessing tomorrow where thankfully I'm WFH so in all day.
