Thanks @Orangesandlemons77 and @Darlinghag - I didn't even think of doing that 😳😳

I feel so dim! That seems really obvious now. Maybe I will order the 7.5 but start on 5mg for the first week and see if it's still working at that level

gimmemounjaro · 26/10/2024 19:45

Ooooooh that cottage cheese and salad looks delicious @PotatoBreadForTheWin

For sure! I guess it depends on your risk appetite, but I don’t mind going a week past the 30 days for any extra liquid. I keep it in the fridge through out and would always look at the liquid (still clear etc) and the little bit where the needle goes in to check its ok.

SilenceInside · 26/10/2024 19:48

With my first 7.5mg pen I did a 5mg dose first, then two in the 6s before doing a 7.5mg for the 4th dose. I then did a 5th dose of the remaining clicks which worked out as 7.4mg. You can do 5 doses within the 30 day limit as the 5th one is on day 29.

Love reading everyone’s posts and achievements. I’m now 4 weeks in and 9lb down, not the biggest loss by any means but I didn't have a big chunk first week and tbh 2.5mg hasn’t had much of an impact so I feel like I’m actually eating in a sustainable way (I also love that quote about losing weight the way you want to keep it off).

I have a question about the hard twist method to get the extra dose, I tried it with my 2.5mg pen, managed to get it to twist but then the plunger would work so I couldn’t get the dose out. Anyone else had this and can advise what to do next time?

I’ve ended up taking a half dose from my 5mg pen as I’m away this weekend and didn’t want to risk the side effects of going up a dose.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/10/2024 20:03

Hard twist (with the aid of pliers) has worked for me so far.

I have syringes ready on standby if needed, but I don't fancy using them as they are 8mm and I don't like the possibility of them being slightly blunted when piercing the pen seal, it has taken me long enough to get used to the 6mm pen needles!

Will see when it happens if I am brave enough 😂

Also, did you try changing the pen needle? You might just have had a dodgy needle.

i did change the needle but I could see that the mechanism to push the dose through was further down the inside of the glass bit (if that makes sense) so it couldn’t engage. Might just have been bad luck so I’ll give it another go next time and hope it works.

SqueakyDinosaur · 27/10/2024 01:04

There are loads of posters on here that I'd like to give a hug, but top of my list right now are @alwaysscared and @SilenceInside .

I read a comment on another thread saying manufacturers were trying to disable the hard twist method so I wonder if it's a new thing. Alternative would be buying a syringe and drawing it

alwaysscared · 27/10/2024 01:33

@SqueakyDinosaur thank you, that is much appreciated

Always good to hear someone else talking positively about Mounjaro

@WeAllHaveWings thanks for that! A very sensible (and amusing!) review👍

I found that really interesting... thank you so much for posting x

TorturedParentsDepartment · 27/10/2024 16:33

Checking in as I've just placed my first MJ order and sent off the photo of shame.

I weigh 153.30 kg, BMI of 58 (but I've always weighed heavier than I looked even as a kid so BMI is never the greatest measure for me)... waiting to see if I'm approved and when it's sent out. Think I must be the heaviest person on any of these threads and the idea of actually managing to lose any of it is a mountain at the moment.

SilenceInside · 27/10/2024 16:39

Hi @TorturedParentsDepartment you'll be amazed how quickly the time will fly once you get started. I was 140kg when I started and am now 109kg and today for the first time in an age I actually ran around a playground with my child rather than stand or sit and watch.

Changinghabits1973 · 27/10/2024 17:09

@TorturedParentsDepartment welcome ! It will pass very quickly - I started in August and cannot believe where the weeks have gone...

@SilenceInside that's amazing that you could do that with your child... bet you are so proud of yourself and such an achievement x

SilenceInside · 27/10/2024 18:07

@Changinghabits1973 what I realised was that I just did it because I could in the moment, my child needed me to help and I just ran around with him. It was a kind of buzz really, to realise that I could run with him and not immediately turn into a beetroot red sweaty hyperventilating mess. And I haven't hurt my knees!

Darlinghag · 27/10/2024 18:39

I took my first 7.5mg dose tonight. Today was a struggle though. So much food noise and hunger. But I did it! Looking forward to seeing what 7.5mg brings!

Jenasaurus · 27/10/2024 18:47

Im only on day 3, took my first dose of 2.5 on Friday, didnt think it was working (I know early days) but on Saturday I almost forgot to eat, I have eaten normally today but with no cravings or urges to raid the snacks! I know I should but weighed in again today and 3 pounds down already! I really hope this is going to continue as I am diabetic and this may help stop me going on insulin

I have had a bit of nausea with it, similar to car sickness feeling and my stomach was a little uncomfortable hence not wanting to eat too much, but I do have IBS so it could be that/

velvetseven · 27/10/2024 20:13

Hello all,
May I join? Ordered some after watching the Mark Lewis video above @WeAllHaveWings he's a fitness hero of mine. Am 15 stone and short, lifetime dieter and now spiralling into near constant binge eating. Anyway, started today, lets see whether it can turn the food noise volume down!

Ah you're at the same sort of stage as me - I did my first one Thursday night! I've got similar almost car sick feeling and my appetite has tanked. I'm going to have to get to grips with foot so I make sure I'm actually eating.

KayeEyeEssEss · 27/10/2024 21:33

Welcome @Jenasaurus @velvetseven and @OrlandointheWilderness - something I’ve learned is that a small protein rich snack helps that queasy feeling, and that food tracking with an eye on nutrients can help ensure you’re nourishing your body. As others have said, the quieting of food noise means you have the space to plan what you’re going to eat rather than being driven by your appetite - I love that aspect!

alwaysscared · 27/10/2024 21:49

Managed to go out for a bit with my mum today. She kept saying, I can't believe how much thinner you look (as only mums can say 😂😂) so it must be showing, though I can't tell any difference yet!

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/10/2024 21:53

Thanks @KayeEyeEssEss, will do!
