I've become a bit of a cottage cheese fan:

With chopped egg
With chopped tomatoes cucumber radish etc. Jalapeño & olive. Red onion or spring onion.
Chopped herbs

Mix with any and all of the above.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 25/10/2024 18:39

I'm sure the cottage cheese fans know this but the Longley Farm full-fat version is that absolute bomb! I can't stomach any others.

gimmemounjaro · 25/10/2024 18:44

That all sounds delicious @RobinEllacotStrike

I remember the good old days when you could buy it with onion or even pineapple but there was no choice at all in Tesco today, only plain and low fat, it seems to have fallen out of fashion.

This may be a silly question but do you just eat it and the flavourings with a fork or is there a vehicle for it eg cracker type thing? I think I used to eat it on ryvita years ago but I never really managed to convince myself that ryvita is actually a food 😂
(No offence to any ryvita fans)

I absolutely did not know this and there wasn't any in Tesco this morning - where do you get it?

I get it from Morrisons, and I’ve seen it in Asda. They still make the pineapple and chive flavours too but I think you’d have to order directly from their website to get them. Don’t both with the low-fat - go straight to the good stuff Grin

It is life-changing but be warned that it will ruin you for all other cottage cheese forever!

I didn't do my weekly weigh in on Monday, so catching up now. 20 pounds down since 2nd September. While I am thrilled with that, I haven't felt that I am in the zone with 5mg, so going to do the bonus dose on Monday and ordered the 7.5mg going forward. Lost 14 pounds with 2.5mg in 4 weeks, but just not in the groove as much these last few weeks, so just going to go up and be done.

Losses have been: 5; 0; 6; 3; 3; 1; 2

No side-effects whatsoever and still sticking to keto, which I am loving. Loads of comments that I am glowing and what is my skin care routine. I am 53! So something is going right. Hormones are at play and I have a never-ending period (very light and not a huge issue after years of painful and horrendous endometriosis), but it seems I am nowhere near menopausal. Sigh.

Anyway, will do my bonus of 5mg on Monday and see what 7.5 mg brings

For what it is worth, I am so in agreement with posters that say just record the losses and take a 4 weekly/30 day view of losses. It really does keep me motivated.

Darlinghag · 25/10/2024 19:37

I can’t do the texture of cottage cheese on its own but I love it in scrambled egg! Gives a nice boost of protein!

EricTheGardener · 25/10/2024 20:18

Thinking I might try and make this as it looks really easy and will be high in protein - cottage cheese and lentil bread. You could probably chuck some sun-dried tomatoes / olives / herbs etc in there too.

https://nourishingniki.com/recipes/lentil-bread/

Easy Lentil Bread (just 3 ingredients)

This Lentil Bread is simple, high-protein, and made with just three ingredients - it's fluffy, nutritious, and delicious!

gimmemounjaro · 25/10/2024 20:27

Thanks @VelociraptorsVelociRapping
I will be heading to Morrisons as soon as I've finished this sad little low-fat pot. Full-fat is always my preference, except for milk which I find a bit blurgh texturally so stick to skimmed.

Adding to scrambled egg is a great idea - I'll do that tomorrow to get through my pot quicker Smile

gimmemounjaro · 25/10/2024 20:31

That also looks good @EricTheGardener and we have tons of red lentils. Let us know how it goes..

Bibulous · 25/10/2024 21:28

End of the first week. I did my first dose last Friday but I'm going to wait until tomorrow morning for the second as Saturday morning will work better long term. I've found it a bit tougher this evening, but I don't know if that's because the initial dose was wearing off or because I've had a few drinks...

It's been an amazing week. I've had moments where I've had a meal and then thought about what I could eat next but it was so easy to ignore it. Two weeks ago, once I'd had that thought then it was inevitable that I'd eat more. But now I know that I don't have to.

Here's to better living through chemistry!

Weigh day for me, week 15

SW: 241.2 lbs
CW: 209.6 lbs
GW: 150-160 lbs?

This week -3.1, overall -31.6, 39% of the way there.

I am 14 stone something 🥳 which feels like a big deal after starting at 17 stone something. Slightly dazed by that tbh, the lightest I have been since May 2021.

According to my scales, body fat is now merely high instead of extremely high. And my body type is "standard muscular" instead of obese 😅
(No one looking at me would ever describe me as muscular and I am still very much obese on the BMI scale but I love these little moments. Unfortunately it still says my metabolic age is three years older than I actually am 😣)

My NSV this week was getting out of the bath without going via hands and knees 💪

Next mini target is 206, which will be the -2.5 stone mark.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 26/10/2024 09:14

First week done and I've just been weighed. 2.4kg down. It takes me to under 100 kilos and thats really what I was desperate for.

Saturday morning works well for me for weigh in / reflection / jab wise / planning next weeks food.

Starting weight in Sept: 106kg
SW on Mounjaro 19/10: 101.7kg
Current Weight: 99.4kg
Goal weight: 64kg

Total weight lost: 6.4kg
Still to lose: 35.4kg

This has been an utter revelation to me and I've made notes on everything that has been affected by the jab this week. (Good and bad) From a health point of view, though for me - with multiple health conditions - it is definitely life changing.

Also meant to say thanks to all for your advice and helpful comments. I've made notes on cottage cheese and the lentil bread.

Darlinghag · 26/10/2024 09:17

Well done folks!

after my gain for no reason last week (1.6lbs, but i was on track so it felt insulting!), i’ve lost 2.6lbs. This is very much more than normal and definitely feels like the previous week was water weight or inflammation!

jab is tomorrow for me, and I think i’ll move from 6.25mg to 7.5mg and stay there for a month at least!

Snozzlemaid · 26/10/2024 09:22

Had my worst food intake day yesterday.
Dd is a baker and bought some cake and cookies home from work, so I celebrated my 4 stone loss by having some.
I've not had a biscuit or cake since starting MJ 5 months ago but yesterday thought why not.
I had half a finger slice of lemon drizzle cake and half a cookie and I was stuffed.
Then felt slightly sick and full for hours after.
Didn't have a great dinner either, cooked sausages for dp so had a couple too. I've avoided those as they're so high in fat. But I thought, it's just one day it won't hurt.
Today the scales show the same weight as yesterday and I feel ready to go back to healthy eating. Without MJ this is the point I would have given up and bad habits would have crept back in, but I know I won't do this whilst on MJ and will stay away from the cake 😃

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 26/10/2024 09:50

I did a cheeky extra weigh-in today and saw a 16 on the scales for the first time since 2014. I'm feeling very reflective and a bit emotional this morning. Some of you who have been on these threads for a while know that since starting MJ my DH has left me and I have filed for divorce. Getting back to a weight from ten years ago has meant rediscovering all of the lovely clothes that I invested in pre-children, when I had a disposable income. All in all it is making me feel like I am rediscovering the person who I used to be, and remembering how much I like her. I wouldn't say that I feel like I have lost a decade; the last ten years have given me my two wonderful children and I wouldn't change that for the world. Nevertheless, I am sad for the person that I had to become to survive some really dark times in the last few years and determined that I won't go back.

This is all about so much more than excess fat, isn't it?

@gimmemounjaro you probably do have a pretty well-developed musculature! I have been reading about how formerly obese people tend to have decent muscle mass and bone density because we had to be strong to move our overall weight around. Apparently our calf definition is particularly desirable as our legs have carried our weight for so long; I invite those people to join me in trying to find a pair of knee-high boots which will actually zip up!

@Snozzlemaid please don't beat yourself up. There is nothing bad about what you describe. You had a small portion of some delicious baking, then stopped. Yes, sausages have some fat, but were also an important source of the protein that we all need to prioritise in our diets while we are losing weight. I'm sure you don't intend never to eat another cake or sausage in your life (especially with a professional baker in your family) so there's no reason that you can't have some at the moment. I can't remember which thread I read it on and if it was this one then I apologise to the poster for not crediting them, but I read a wise comment this week that we need to lose weight the way that we intend to keep it off, and that really resonated with me.

Bibulous · 26/10/2024 09:51

First week loss is 8lbs but what's more amazing is the change of attitude about food and how easy it's been to manage what I've eaten. It's given me a lot to think about the food issues I've had since I was a child.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 26/10/2024 09:52

Oh and cottage cheese update - inspired by @Darlinghag's scrambled egg trick I mixed a dollop into my avocado to put on sourdough toast this morning and it was delicious, and very filling. Highly recommended!

Snozzlemaid · 26/10/2024 09:59

Thanks @VelociraptorsVelociRapping
I actually didn't feel too bad at myself for what I ate yesterday, which is a big change. Usually I would feel so bad and give up.
I now have a different mindset and know it was just one day, so won't jeopardise my weight loss.

I have been strict so far with avoiding DD's baking but you're right, I need to use MJ to learn new habits, so should allow a small amount occasionally to adopt healthier habits in the long term.
I need to know it's alright to eat cake occasionally without it becoming a daily habit.

Darlinghag · 26/10/2024 10:03

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping glqd you enjoyed, it sounds delish!!

Congrats on seeing the 16!! I hope to follow you very soon!! I’m sorry to hear about your divorce, but how wonderful to discover great things about yourself (and your wardrobe!)!

gimmemounjaro · 26/10/2024 10:04

This is all about so much more than excess fat, isn't it?

Ain't that the truth.
Well done @VelociraptorsVelociRapping
and know that you are inspiring others as well as achieving your own goals 💪

I have just bought some new boots to celebrate the new stone - actually I was reading a thread about boots, couldn't help myself when I saw them and now justifying my spending 😅 - but it feels like a good time to indulge a little. Like you I am finding my way back to old clothes, ones I chose because I liked them, not because they hid the most or were the only thing available in size 20+. Coming to terms with a body that looks different and figuring out how to present that to the world is a big deal I think. Maybe I will buy a little something towards the new me each time I hit another big marker. And shoes / bags / scarves / hats are great whilst on the journey, because they will always fit 🙂
