Wegovy

Hi, new here. I took my first injection of wegovy on Thursday and wondered if there was anyone else who's just started it?

I'm feeling fine so far. Tiny head ache yesterday but otherwise no other side effects yet.

I've recently started taking 1mg of wegovy and am only just starting to see any weight loss. I struggled on the lower doses as I had enormous fatigue but I'm glad I stayed on it as that seems to have gone now. Just sending solidarity, really as everyone else seems to be on Mountjaro!

tryingtocarpediem · 05/10/2024 15:03

Yes that's what I noticed. I may consider switching but only early days. How much have you lost and how long have you been on it now?

I’m due to start Monday. Got the injections yesterday. I’m a little worried as I see that most people are on mounjaro.

I am worried about the side effects but will just see how I get on, I want to get some anti sickness tabs to take as well.

Good luck guys

Ellepff · 06/10/2024 01:52

I’m on wegovy too! Just posting on the mounjaro threads because they are active. 8 weeks, 14pounds. Just went up to .5 yesterday.

marshmallowfinder · 06/10/2024 03:36

I've got it in my fridge, but am nervous to actually give myself the injection and start. Dreading side effects as I cant take any time off work, but I have to get this debilitating weight off. Thanks for the thread!

tryingtocarpediem · 06/10/2024 07:57

Wow! That's great Ellepff. Well done!

I was worried about side effects too but luckily I work from home. I have an important meeting every Wednesday so I take my injection after that. I've had burping a lot, reflux and I think constipation is coming! Was absolutely stuffed in a small dinner portion last night. Still enjoyed it though and didn't feel I was missing out on anything.

I've only lost half a stone but I've been cautious with doses (stayed on 0.25 longer than normal because i was travelling in a different country and didn't want to up dose away from medical treatment). I def feel I have to go up from 1 though, still have cravings and appetite that I hope will be reduced at the next level.

shmomp · 10/10/2024 14:39

I didn't see much loss on the lower doses but definitely stick with it, I've just hit a 70lb loss which I never thought would be possible 🥹

Obviously I'm keeping track of my foods and making healthier choices too, but not having that constant 'food noise' certainly helps

Good luck with your journey! 💗

Ohcrap082024 · 10/10/2024 15:01

I’m just coming up to the end of week 3. I too was very worried about side effects but all has been ok. A little bit of nausea every now and then but drinking lemon and ginger tea helps.

No vomiting and no running for the loo. A bit constipated. And some days I am really quite tired which has been the biggest struggle.

I am however 8lbs down in 3 weeks. Eating smaller meals, more veg and because I want to rather than I should. Fruit for an afternoon snack. Not tempted by bread.

I can’t believe I’m about to type the next bit…my sweet tooth has gone. I haven’t had chocolate in 3 weeks (which is unheard of) with no cravings. I have an opened packet of chocolate digestives in the kitchen for the dc but I am just not interested. I had a couple of mouthfuls of an apple pie on Sunday and it was far too sweet - it felt uncomfortable in my mouth.

Have ordered the 0.5 pen to start next week.

SW 14.10 BMI 32.4
CW 14.02

Good luck everyone.

Ellepff · 10/10/2024 19:17

@shmomp that’s fantastic! I’ve had an awful week of over eating - or I guess eating at maintenance but bad choices and feels out of control. Hoping my next dose fixes this or my cycle behaves itself.

marshmallowfinder · 13/10/2024 12:37

How's it going OP? I've just taken my first dose today!

NC10125 · 13/10/2024 16:16

Im just starting out with Wegovy and I’ve got my first pen in the fridge, going to start today or tomorrow.

Just wondering whether anyone has advice about what is the best time of day to take it for minimum side effects?

Chris48 · 13/10/2024 18:41

I started Wegovy 10 days ago and took my second dose of 0.25ml on Wednesday. I had put it off for a while as I was afraid of self-injecting, but need not have worried because I literally didn't feel a thing.

I'm doing it in conjunction with a low-calorie diet, and am very happy with the help from Wegovy. On previous similar diets I've really struggled to resist food but the Wegovy has sorted that out and I hardly feel cravings at all. I have a feeling of fullness a lot of the time. The only problem is with constipation, so need to use laxatives every few days, which is probably not good. Maybe I need to eat more fibre.

The weight is really falling off and I'm quite optimistic this is going to work for me.

marshmallowfinder · 15/10/2024 18:06

Day 3 here and feeling OK. Small amount of constipation but hardly any nausea thankfully. How's everyone else doing?

I take mine late afternoon on Friday. If I get extra tired or a bit nauseous the worst falls when I’m sleeping or on Saturday. I also like having good suppression over the weekend

NC10125 · 15/10/2024 20:49

Thanks, I went for Sunday night for the same reason - Monday is my easiest work day and the kids are at school (I’m a single parent so weekends is tricky). I hadn’t thought about the biggest effects being at the weekend though - that would be very useful.

BackToWegovy · 17/10/2024 17:18

Hello there. I am restarting Wegovy on Monday. I took it for a good while last year and then changed to Mounjaro but the side effects became too much so I am trying Wegovy again after a break. Mounjaro definitely gets the most coverage on Mumsnet so it is good to find some others on Wegovy. I know the low doses don’t have much effect on me so will need some willpower for the first two months or so.

tryingtocarpediem · 18/10/2024 07:36

I took my 3rd dose of 0.25 last night. I've lost a measly 2lbs so far. I've had a bit of constipation but nothing else. Appetite suppression has been good mainly but managed a roast dinner on Sunday and a meal out last week so the suppression could definitely be improved! I'm really going for better weight loss when I move up to 0.5.

Been craving milk chocolate all week.😩 Have finally given in. Definitely seems to have worn off now, with 2 days to go.😞

BloodontheTracks · 19/10/2024 16:29

Just a word of encouragement I found the low doses did nothing for me and I had terrible fatigue, but after taking 1mg and then up to 1.5, it all got much better.

BackToWegovy · 21/10/2024 07:17

Just did my first Wegovy dose (this time round). Have to say the pen quality and provided needles are so much better than Mounjaro. It all just works so smoothly in comparison. I know it’s the contents that is more important so hoping for good things there too.

marshmallowfinder · 21/10/2024 07:38

That's good to know! I had my second dose yesterday, so hoping for a good week this week.

Chris48 · 06/11/2024 19:34

I took my second dose of 0.5ml Wegovy this morning and I really don't feel the 0.5ml dose has any increased effect over the 0.25ml dose. It just about does the job, but I'm hoping that the 1.0ml shots will be more effective when I get on to them later in the month. I'd be interested to know what other people have felt.

BackToWegovy · 06/11/2024 23:46

Yes first time round it was the 1 mg that really had any effect for me. Hang on in there. I think 1 mg is the official first therapeutic dose anyway. I have one more 0.25mg dose to go and have ordered the next two pens in a bundle deal. Not noticing much effect on the low dose here although I have lost around 2kg in 2 weeks mostly through willpower.
