Hi, new here. I took my first injection of wegovy on Thursday and wondered if there was anyone else who's just started it?

I'm feeling fine so far. Tiny head ache yesterday but otherwise no other side effects yet.

Just at the end of week 3 and finally noticed a bit of appetite suppression as I couldn’t finish my roast this evening. Bring it on! No side effects thank goodness. I wonder if there will be any extra at the end of the 0.25mg pen tomorrow. I am using it if so but I don’t think it is like Ozempic used to be with a whole extra four doses (in the 0.25 mg pen) or Mounjaro with the fifth dose in all the pens. I went straight over to 1 mg Wegovy from 1mg Ozempic so haven’t had this pen before.

BackToWegovy · 11/11/2024 08:01

5 extra clicks this morning - there is no mucking about with Wegovy is there. It is probably for the best.

NoKnickerElastic · 12/11/2024 15:56

Glad I've found this thread, everyone else seems to be on Mounjaro and I was wondering if I'd made a mistake. Just had my final 0.25 injection this morning and struggling to see any difference in appetite since the first week. Does the next dose make that much difference?

BackToWegovy · 12/11/2024 17:17

Everyone is different but 1 mg is meant to be the first therapeutic dose and that is what I found before.

Kiwirose · 12/11/2024 23:22

Hello,

I am getting my first pen through tier 3 weight management arriving tomorrow. I am a bit nervous with what to expect and have always really struggled to lose weight before. I have a few associated health issues (high bp, prediabetic, sleep apnoea, PCOS) and I really want this to work. I have 20kg to lose.

The NHS is my area does not provide maunjaro only wegovy. Everyone on here seems to be taking maunjaro. I think I'm worried it might not be as good as maunjaro which is silly really because I haven't started taking it yet.

BackToWegovy · 13/11/2024 06:34

Wow - you are the first person on here I have seen to have got this through the NHS for weight loss. I think that is achievement in itself for persistence and it gives me hope for the future. Sorry if that sounds patronising or something it really isn’t meant to be.

I really hope it works for you - no reason why not. Semaglutide is the drug we always read about in the press with all the other health benefits research coming out and all the celebrities losing weight. It has been around a bit longer so there is more known about it.

I think Mounjaro is slightly more effective on average but they are both much more effective than anything else. Good luck.

here is a graph showing a comparison

I'm on ozempic just over 7 months. Wegovy isn't available here yet so my gp prescribed this.
Started at 18st exactly. Weight at 7 month point 14st 3.. 5ft 6in. I started on .5 as the .25 pen wasn't available. I stayed on that dose two months and worked my way to 1mg over the next 2/3 months.
I've skipped my dose twice while on vacation. Not particularly for food reasons but because I am pretty tired and can be nauseous and constipated for the first few days of taking it.
Month 1- 14.4 pounds
Months 2 - 3.2 had a weeks break while on holiday.
Month3 -4.6
Month 4 - 9.2
Month5 -6.8 another weeks break for holiday.
Month6 -5
Month 7 -9.6
Total 52.8
I've upped my dose to 1.25 the last couple of weeks but I think I'll reduce down to 1 again as the suppression is very strong and I'm not eating enough.

Parapaderapa · 13/11/2024 07:41

I’ve been on it for 4 months and coming to the end of the 1.7 dose. I’ve only lost 4kg in total (in the last few weeks I’ve actual put on 1kg!)

I am in the process of switching to Mounjaro, just waiting for it to arrive. Has anyone not had a loss until the 2.4 dose? Not sure if I should hold on or not. Just seems very expensive for barely any weight loss.

BloodontheTracks · 13/11/2024 16:08

I\ve had a really similar experience to this! Just about to start my 2.4 wegovy dose and barely lost anything! It's really frustrating. I'll let you know how it goes if you let us know if mountjaro is better??

Kiwirose · 13/11/2024 19:04

@BackToWegovy I am very lucky I know - especially given my BMI is 31. something. I qualified under associated conditions.

@40coats are you in the UK? How did you get your GP to prescribe it?

40coats · 13/11/2024 20:46

@Kiwirose I am in Ireland. My bmi was around 42/43 I think.
High blood pressure and an autoimmune condition plus pcos. My gp believes I am insulin resistant. He is a believer in these medications. I've a medical card he never charges me for anything I only pay for the medication. He will also prescribed a maintainance dose should I need it.

Kiwirose · 14/11/2024 15:28

@40coats that is amazing. A very supportive Gp. I have PCOS also so it is nice to meet someone with the same challenges.

i am at a conference for 3 days now - I wonder if the food will be all beige???

BackToWegovy · 19/11/2024 07:25

Hello - hope you are all getting on ok. I took my first 0.5 mg yesterday morning. I was awake in the night to be sick last night. Not great but I feel ok now and hope that it will be ok over time. This did happen occasionally first time round and it did go away as I got used to each new amount. Also I did eat out last night so perhaps dinner was a bit rich/ large for my first night on a new dose.

In better news I lost a total of 3 kg or 6.6 lb while on the 0.25mg pen over four weeks. That is pretty good going for me. I have been working hard on my No S rules and it is paying off (no sugar, no snacks no seconds).

BackToWegovy · 26/11/2024 07:14

I wasn’t sick this morning 🎉
It’s the day after my second 0.5mg and not even nauseous so that’s good. Not sure it’s doing much year though in terms of suppression. Maybe a little bit.

WeaselCheeks · 26/11/2024 08:06

I've been on Wegovy for five weeks now, took my first 0.5 dose end of last week.

I've lost 8lbs so far, with no side effects until the last couple of days - the dreaded constipation, to the point of feeling a little nauseous. I think more fibre and water will sort that though.

tryingtocarpediem · 26/11/2024 11:47

I definitely found 0.25 to be worse with constipation and better with weight loss. On 0.5 my constipation had gone but I've lost no weight and my hunger returns more often. Decided I'll switch to mounjaro in a couple of weeks instead.

OP posts:
BackToWegovy · 26/11/2024 13:10

Good luck with the switch, hope it works out better for you. I think 1mg is supposed to be the therapeutic dose for Wegovy so might be worth giving it one more month to see instead of having a break and then starting at 2.5mg on Mounjaro.

Zeroeffsleft · 26/11/2024 14:03

I’ve taken my third dose of Wegovy today 0.25. The food noise varies day to day. I’m hoping once I move up doses it will be more consistent. I definitely feel differently around food. Junk food gives me the ick a bit now and I’m satisfied with less food. I generally don’t eat a meal until midday, before I basically made up all my missed calories but now I can have a small protein rich meal and it keeps me going until dinner at 6pm. If I eat later I feel crap the next day. So longer digestion time is noticeable. My scales aren’t working so not sure of any loss but really I just want my clothes to fit better. My plan is to stick to the lowest possible dose as I’m too nervous about the risks after seeing the MJ news recently.

moozles · 26/11/2024 16:20

I am collecting my first pen today! I am nervous to take after reading about the side effects, due to be away for the weekend, should I wait until I get back? What do you more experienced users recommend?

tryingtocarpediem · 26/11/2024 18:29

I was absolutely fine the day after with only a bit of mild constipation but I know others have various side effects. I think it's just personal to everyone. May be worth leaving in until after your weekend if you're concerned?

It’s a hard one! I don’t know why I am so nervous all of a sudden, not a lot usually bothers me. I guess it is the unknown. If you don’t mind me asking, how much have you lost with it?

Latewalker1 · 26/11/2024 20:24

I'm currently on the 0.5, and going well so far. It's good to hear of other people on wegovy as everyone seems to be on mounjaro. What does everyone do with what is left in the pen after week 4?

tryingtocarpediem · 27/11/2024 09:45

Only 5lbs 😩 so far but I do need to exercise more, get my protein up and drink more water.

OP posts:
BackToWegovy · 27/11/2024 12:33

There isn’t much left in the pen after week 4 but what there was I injected (should change the needle to do this).

First time round I lost 11kg (24lb / 1st10lb) which took about 13 months and included dropping down the doses due to shortages etc.

This time I am 5 weeks in and so far about 3kg (6.6 lb). Most people lose faster than me.

Re side effects on your first dose - this is unpredictable. You may have nothing or you may be quite ill or anywhere in between. I would wait until after your weekend away. Some people have side effects for a day or two after the injection that settle down after that so probably a Wednesday injection would be ok by Saturday but if you have never had it you can’t be sure how it will affect you.

Thank you for the advice, I have decided to have my first dose when I back, going to enjoy my weekend away and then get on it! I will keep you all updated. Thank you everyone
