@Callmejudith what are you planning on wearing? I have DD's 30th in a week and NO IDEA what to wear! 😩

I also have a funeral next week and again, have no dark, smart clothes that don't look ridiculous or fall down

mjdle · 11/10/2024 13:05

Anyone else obsessed with Vinted? Two blazers, knee high boots and a work skirt (Zara, M&S and &other stories) all for £20. Allowing me to buy some nice clothes while I'm still losing weight without breaking the bank. Going to upload some of my bigger clothes this weekend to sell 🙂

Callmejudith · 11/10/2024 14:28

@VioletsHeart Sweaty Betty medium is GOALS!

@TheShellBeach love that about walking to the village. We have a 40th to go to which I'm basically pretending is my own party and getting all dressed up for. Not sure yet on outfit will report back.

I'm crap on vinted need to get better

I've lost 33 lbs since the start of June. I did 2.5, 5, and have been on 7.5 ever since. Actually I was massively affected with the 2.5 and wish I'd stayed on that.

What I do to make it cheaper and hopefully easier to come off it is to take it every 9th day and I wrench a 5th dose out, so one pen lasts me six weeks. That brings it down to about £30 per week instead of £45, thank god.

One thing I've found is how patient I've become with losing weight. I've never been on a diet for this long. I've very rarely gone up even a tiny notch, either staying the same or going down a tiny bit each time I weigh myself. But my attitude has completely changed. I just think, oh well, it'll come off next time, or I might not reach that goal this month, but I will next month. It's been incredible for me - I would always feel so low when I put on weight or stayed the same and that's completely gone.

And no wine or other alcohol in that time, too - apart from when I was pregnant or with small children, I've never spent such a long time without a drink.

I'm now half an ounce away from being 12 stone something - I'm so thrilled about that.

@MounjaroUser im so impressed you’ve had no booze! Do you feel amazing with it?

I haven't had any booze either, except a bottle of champagne on my birthday way back in my first week of MJ.

I just don't think about alcohol now. I didn't drink much anyway, but I used to have a G and T now and again.

I don't miss it.

Callmejudith · 11/10/2024 19:38

So impressive! I haven't drunk at home since I started which is a big change for me, on a Friday night I would always sink a bottle of wine. I've drunk at social occasions but haven't once had that "I really need a drink" feeling. So interesting!

OP posts:
IReallyNeedThisToWork · 11/10/2024 21:56

The booze thing has been one of the biggest changes for me! I drank pretty much every night. After about 4 weeks of MJ, the interest in having wine just seemed to float away. I didn't really have any at all for a few weeks then had a couple of glasses with a pub lunch and when out for dinner.

They don't trigger me into wanting more which was a revelation!

I then had too much (for MJ!) a couple of weeks ago and felt horrendous the following day, as if I had downed two bottles of wine instead of nearly one over the course of an afternoon and evening! I've had a glass with dinner tonight and the bottle is in the fridge but I have no compulsion to drink any more of it.

Not buying wine has easily (and more!) covered the cost of the mounjaro and not drinking seems to have turned me into a morning person 😱 who gets a LOT more done in the evenings!

I bet Uber have noticed a drop in profits in my area though as I’m happy to drive everywhere these days 😂

MounjaroUser · 11/10/2024 22:42

@IReallyNeedThisToWork That's exactly what happened to me! I was having a couple of drinks every single night - I was desperate to change that. It was such a habit. It wasn't just that it was fattening, I was terrified of it becoming worse. It also used to give me terrible acid reflux. I rarely had three drinks but I felt like a bit of a loose cannon, as though I couldn't guarantee I wouldn't drink more and more over the years. I have had three drinks over 4 months - all of them have been when someone's been here and I haven't wanted to tell them I was taking it. The drinks had no effect whatsoever. I'm not going to drink for as long as I'm taking this (a few more months to go) and then will limit myself to a glass if I'm out (rarely) but not having any alcohol at all at home.

I've saved so much money - I haven't bought any alcohol, sweets, takeaways, peanuts, crisps, weekend croissants.... the list goes on!

I also make each dose last 9 days and get the 5th dose out, which means my pen lasts 6 weeks instead of four. Absolutely lovely buying new clothes that fit me and suit me, too.

MounjaroUser · 11/10/2024 22:44

For me it's not just not having a drink, I never even think about having a drink. It doesn't cross my mind. It was such a habit before, it's lifechanging to lose that. I never thought it would happen and I'd recommend Mounjaro to anyone who needs to change their drinking habits. Apparently it's really good for stopping smoking and gambling, too.

MounjaroUser · 11/10/2024 22:47

Sorry, I realise I've repeated myself about the doses! I thought I'd posted that on a different thread.

I feel great not drinking, yes. Mind you I didn't feel bad having a drink, never got a headache or anything like that, but I did have acid reflux that kept me awake sometimes. Instead of stopping drinking (which I knew was causing it) I would think of things I could drink instead, that wouldn't give me reflux. I can see how unhealthy that was for me and I'm so glad I've been able to stop now.

TheShellBeach · 11/10/2024 23:07

You're supposed to discard the pen 30 days after opening it.

Week 17 weigh in, 3lbs off and I'm exactly 11 stone.

SW 13st 7lb BMI 36.9
CW 11st BMI 30.1

Two and a half stone total loss. That's 18.5% of my body weight and I continue to be amazed. Next week I should be overweight and not obese!

Callmejudith · 12/10/2024 09:50

I'm just nosing at this thread, not overweight- I have other issues lol.
Just wanted to say I agree that you're almost certainly saving the NHS £ in the long run. And randoms absolutely should not be giving you shit for using jabs. Good luck to you all.
If there was a magic pill for my issues I'd certainly be taking it!

Merryoldgoat · 12/10/2024 10:12

I’m having a tough month - not watching my diet properly so keep losing and regaining the same few pounds. I’m nearly at 3 stone loss which is amazing but I have another 8-10 stone to go so need to get back on it.

I just took my last 10mg shot yesterday and I’m moving up to 12.5mg next so hope that will give me a boost.

I had two code referrals this month so mine cost me £93, so about £23 a week. The old me would have spent £7 on snacks, £5 on wine, £3 on pop and £25 on a takeaway (counting the kids cost as I have to feed them too!) so £40. Add that to the health benefits and I'm winning.

Hurrah for médium!
I’ve been swimming in my previously v comfy Large Sweaty Betty leggings and decided to pick up a pair of medium on Vinted to see if they’re better. They arrived today and I opened the packet. Held them up and thought “bloody hell those are small! No way will they fit” Then “Sod it!” Tried them on. Turns out I’m a Medium now. 😮

I am really struggling with clothes shopping! I pick things up that look too small, try them on and they’re massive. I just can’t visualise how I look. Even at home, I think something in my wardrobe still fits, try it on and look ridiculous and have to go change!

I’ve had comments because I only had 3 or 4 stone to lose. Because of my height, my BMR is 1300 calories even with exercise - so to lose weight I have to be under 1000 calories every single day - that’s HARD alone!

I completely agree with this, it really helps with taking a few months off the booze. I used to drink regularly most weekends, which lead to snacking, now I’m happy with my cbd drinks & sparkling water.
Although saying that I am planning to have alcohol in December as lots of Christmas plans, but I doubt I’ll drink as much as I used to.
Then I’ll be off the alcohol again in January.

JomonotFomo · 12/10/2024 11:47

I haven’t drunk since I started either (well two gins on holiday) I agree it just never occurs to me todo so whereas before I drank every day pretty much which meant weight loss was tricky because not only did I consume alcohol calories I also consumed fuck it I’ve blown the diet now calories!

I have lost 1lb this week bringing me to 12st 6.5. And 47.5 total loss since the beginning of June.

JomonotFomo · 12/10/2024 11:54

Next mini targets are:

lose 1.5lb to my 3.5stone
lose 2.5lb to have lost 50lb in total
lose 7lb to get to the 11s!
lose 8.5 to get to my 4st loss.

Thats enough goals for now! I think 10st 7 might be my interim (as in I’ll see how I like it when I get there target)

TheShellBeach · 12/10/2024 12:03

I've lost 40lb since the end of June.
I'm really happy with my progress on MJ.

LionAndEmperor13 · 12/10/2024 12:53

@TheShellBeach I'm exactly the same, did a weigh-in this morning and I've lost exactly 40lbs. Still can't actually believe it! I'm now the same weight as when I met my husband 14 years ago.

I've totally overhauled my diet and have started running again - I have a 10k race tomorrow morning 😀

SW 13st 6lbs BMI 33.3
CW 10st 8lbs BMI 26.2
GW 9st 7lbs BMI 23.6

Megarea · 12/10/2024 19:48

So due to having to fit a lot of things in including running a coffee morning cake stall I ended up only eating a scone and a piece of cake today until about 6pm when I got home and not drinking any water. I also feel like I'm starting a cold and felt horrendous.
I can't believe how much better I feel having had 2 pints of water and an omelette stuffed with veg, some meat and a bit of cheese (my go to meal I swear I have it about 6 times a week). Even the cold symptoms have died down!
The cake was nice, it was my own baking and the scone was lovely but the sugar just made me feel so bleurgh. I've not really indulged much in sweet stuff since I've been on Mounjaro mostly because I don't really think about it and the odd occasions I've had a slice of something I've felt massively underwhelmed. This is so different to me before Mounjaro - it feels jarring. Has anyone else had that feeling?
