Mounjaro October starters

Rockfordpeach · 28/09/2024 17:08

Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

Theres a really easy way to do it. Each pen a dose is 60 clicks. So a 5mg pen is 5mg per 60 clicks.

The calculation is NHS - Need divided by Have multiplied by Supplied in

Need - 3.5mg
Have - 5mg
Supplied in 60 clicks

3.5 divided by 5, then multiplied by 60 = 42 clicks for the dose you want

Oh thanks! That's a good quick way to do it. Glad to have 2 options for when the other gets confusing.

Pegsmum · 06/10/2024 10:53

Well done to everyone who has weighed in! Anyone else freezing??

Pegsmum · 06/10/2024 10:54

Doghairismyglitter · 06/10/2024 09:31

Thanks all - I’ve just done it! We shall see what happens next!

Well done!

DandelionsDaisies · 06/10/2024 10:58

I’ve had a lovely weekend in York. I have eaten badly but not nearly as much as I usually would.
today is our last day here and I’ve decided today is my starting day eating healthier choices. I’m due my second injection tonight.
So far today I’ve had a latte with 2 brown sugars, a small mixed fruit pot and a tea cake with butter.
how is everyone doing?

I will also mention that eating badly whilst away has resulted in a very unhappy tummy lol.

WeeklyJab · 06/10/2024 10:59

Honestly, Mounjaro has really brought out everyone's redundant math skills.😆

Maths skills are never redundant. No matter how often my children insisted they were. 😂

True! 😃 I just hadn't needed to do all this calculation for medication before - and not this actively for many other things in a while but yes I agree, math is all around us in daily living.

EVK · 06/10/2024 11:03

Wow everyone - great results - well done. I’ve taken protein shake, psyllium husk and my normal Greek yogurt and fruit breakfast (with mixed seeds) it was a smaller potion and I feel completely full. Going to do a short run and hope my food didn’t hurt after! I hope I’ll manage a good few pounds this week. I’ve never managed more than 2lbs and that would be rare even on the most strict diet. Ive not been eating carbs for ages and just lots of veg, fruit and fish, eggs and vegetarian protein. My problem was junk food/binged at night alongside wine on the weekends.
im hoping those will go and I’ll be able to reduce my portions 🤞

DandelionsDaisies · 06/10/2024 11:04

Forgot to add tomorrow I am starting The Cambridge 1:1 diet to take away all this focus of food on my brain. Going to have 4 shakes per day and 1 pack of pop crisps.

EVK · 06/10/2024 11:16

my foot ! Not food!

I can understand the need for simplicity- I know someone who had great success with it so good luck.

Well ladies - very nicely explained and I totally get it now. It seems like a good idea to increase dose at a slightly slower rate especially if you’re experiencing side effect or alternatively increase slightly if you’re not experiencing any positive effects . I will take the advice on eating well in the evening as I think this may help with sleep - maybe a small portion of carbs as they say that helps with sleep?

Doghairismyglitter · 06/10/2024 11:38

2 hours after injection, had a Graze protein flapjack for breakfast and black coffee (no sugar) plus 750ml of water so far.
Injection site feels bit itchy though.
Not sure if placebo affect but had first cigarette of the day, didn’t taste right and didn’t fancy it so threw half away.

It is a good way to titrate the dose to ease side effects etc, but be sure to use the pen within 30 days of opening if you are using less, and remember each pen has more than the 4 60 click dose's in that you can either force the pen to twist past to administer, or you can buy insulin syringes online to extract it that way instead. With how much they cost, dont want to waste a drop lol!

LolaLouise · 06/10/2024 12:02

Im now 5 hours past injection, and feel a bit nauseous, which i expected as i always get nausea off any medication i take. Literally as it started medexpress emailed saying they now sell cyclizine, so ordered some of that to hopefully help with that side effect along side the supplements ive bought

I'm forever scaling recipes up or down, so I do proportions in my head most days.
Me and the area of a cake circle are very close acquaintances. Maybe that's why it's called Pi(e)

Im a nurse on A&E and all our meds come in weird amounts, Im forever doing drug calculations so this one was natural for me. Any other kind of maths though im screwed 😂

igivein · 06/10/2024 12:16

Well I’ve done the dreaded first weigh-in. 128.0kg, which might well make me the heaviest on the thread 😒
In more positive news, I haven’t eaten yet today and don’t feel hungry. I know I should eat something soon, but I’m a bit concerned that as soon as something passes my lips I’ll be ravenous😁

End of first week.
SW 129.4 kg
CW 126.2kg

3.2kg down - hurray!

Congratulations that's brilliant!!

killamounjaro · 06/10/2024 12:31

Ok I'm in..... just been approved by MedExpress! (And have referral code if anyone wants it)

I'm just over 11stone, 5'1" and want to get close to 9 and a half...now the nervous wait for it to arrive and take the first plunge.

The smoking thing is real. I'm a smoker too and haven't realised I'm smoking less, but after a week, I've got over half of my tobacco left when it would normally be finished by now. Massive unexpected bonus, and it will help with the cost of the jabs.

Good luck this week everyone who has just taken their first dose, and well done everyone who has lost weight! Star

My starting weight last week was 129.4, so you’re not alone!

Wildywondrous · 06/10/2024 12:56

@DandelionsDaisies I've done Cambridge a few times and it works really well, around a stone off a month off you give it 100% and the MJ should really help with your willpower.

Cost wise the Tesco Slim shakes are much, much cheaper and pretty much identical in nutrition and ingredients, I switched to those from Cambridge and my losses were the same, only downside is the lack of variety, they only do chocolate, strawberry and vanilla, plus you don't get the 'support' but my last cwp lady was useless anyway and I didn't hear a peep from her all week.

I'm using them at the moment to just make sure I'm getting enough nutrition because I don't feel like eating but the shake is easy to get down.

Taxiparent · 06/10/2024 13:05

I took my first injection last night. So far today I feel quite achy and cold, but otherwise ok. I’ve taken supplements including peppermint and probiotics and have eaten 4 ryvitas with low fat soft cheese. Not sure if it’s having an effect yet as I often don’t eat until lunchtime on the weekend, but fingers crossed for the process.

ShineyHappyPeeple · 06/10/2024 13:22

Just had some lunch - small ish portion of lentil soup and a flatbread. Couldn't finish the flatbread and feel satisfied with no result desire to snack.

I have a skyr yoghurt planned for later if I fancy it.

Also made my sons some American pancakes this morning but didn't fancy them at all.

Reeeeally hope this lasts!

Fizzleaway · 06/10/2024 13:53

Well done @WeeklyJab !! Great amount.
