Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

So sorry to hear that @Doghairismyglitter - thankfully you have some justice and hope this is the start of something great for you. Good luck tomorrow

NearlyAutumnNow · 06/10/2024 03:00

@Doghairismyglitter so sorry to read this, I hope MJ helps you x

Does it stay in the fridge? The guidance is confusing - it says to store in a refrigerator or can be stored unrefrigerated for up to 30 days..

It has to stay in the fridge until your first use, but once you ‘break the seal’, so to speak, it can be kept anywhere as long as it doesn’t get hot. If a brand new, unused pen is left unrefrigerated it has to be used within 30 days. As each pen only has 4 doses that’s fine, it would only be a problem if you were buying ahead.

IWantToSeeMyFeetAgain · 06/10/2024 08:28

@Doghairismyglitter you’ve got it this morning!

butteredparsnip · 06/10/2024 08:31

CatKitt · 05/10/2024 20:44

Thanks @butteredparsnip I was 3 weeks on 2.5mg. I just couldn't continue and it was either that or stop as the hunger and food noise from day 3 were not something I could handle - given that was why I went on MJ in the first place. I had already ordered my 5mg pen so I counted clicks to get to 3.5mg (Got my last 2.5mg and another 1mg from the 5 mg pen).

I was going to increase by 0.5mg (making it 3mg, 4mg, etc)) or 1.0 (3.5mg, 4.5mg, etc) to find the right dose but at the last minute, I decided I didn't want to do 3mg and have the same issue as 2.5mg or just a bit less. So I increased by 1.0 (so 3.5mg) and I'm so happy I did.

Finally able to stay on and last the whole week, so much so that when remember it's jab day tomorrow, I feel like it came too soon.

How's yours going? How long have you been on and what dose are you? Have you found the right dose yet?

Such a great idea and I'm so glad it's working! I'm only on 1st week of 2.5mg and so far have had good appetite suppression but will see how we go, very early days! I saw on another thread somebody splitting a dose across 2 different days of week to best manage their symptoms - it feels so reassuring to know that there are lots of options to try to keep it working!

I made it through my first Saturday with no pigging out on junk food I'm delighted!!

The disappearance of food noise is so amazing, I went for a shop in tesco and usually I would be going oh here that looks nice at every treat and I didn't even turn my head!

I don't think I will have a big loss myself this week as I think being ill on Monday and Tuesday before starting I lost all my water weight, so I'm not expecting a big first week loss.

Yeah the lack of food noise is bizarre isn't it, after a lifetime of struggling in supermarkets I went to Aldi and Sainsburys and didn't even cross my mind to look at the chocolate, let alone buy and eat it all!

EVK · 06/10/2024 09:06

Morning all,
I didn’t sleep well last night (menopause means my sleep is never great) but last night it was particularly bad! My mind was very active and I caught myself having some strange half dream/wake thoughts around food! I think a lot of it was anxiety about side effects too and the shock that I’ve actually taken the plunge. Hopefully sleep will be better tonight. Can’t say I’m feeling any different at the moment but then it’s not even been 24hrs yet 😂

I must admit@CatKitt , I can’t imagine how you’ve worked out how to give yourself 3.5mg using the pen but brilliant Ingenuity. Glad it’s working for you now.

Hope @Doghairismyglitter
that you are rested and ready to go this morning. Good luck 🙌🏻

LolaLouise · 06/10/2024 09:11

First injection done, it was a doddle, now to wait for it to kick in!

Sharing my day 1 states for some accountability, as some of them are really, really bad. Years of nursing means i only understand kilo's for weight these days too, but i may record loss in lbs cos they just sound better than kilos lol

Im so hoping this works for us all, and im also really grateful for this thread, i hope we can keep it going for all our journeys for the support, as i feel somewhere to check in weekly and see everyones progress will be motivating.

@EVK I took my first dose yesterday lunchtime and was the same last night, really weird dreams and I kept waking up lots as well. Hopefully tonight will be better. I don’t feel any different yet but no sickness or nausea which was one of the things I was worried about.
It’s good to hear everyone else’s stories and experiences too. I’ve been dieting on and off for years but I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been now (15st3 and 5ft5) so I’m really hoping this works.

Doghairismyglitter · 06/10/2024 09:31

Thanks all - I’ve just done it! We shall see what happens next!

MarshmallowsOnToast · 06/10/2024 09:48

Good luck to all the recent starters. You got this!!

I'm due my 2nd dose tonight. Suppression has been pretty good all week but woke up this morning and my stomach is rumbling! 😒

Roll on 9pm to inject!

LanieM87 · 06/10/2024 09:50

I can't bloody believe it! A week in and I've lost 6lb!!

I know it's mostly water weight etc, but I've never ever had more than a 2lb loss in the first week of anything I've done weightloss wise.

Roll on jab 2 this evening!!

That chart is fantastic!

Took my first dose last night, don’t feel much different this morning, except maybe a bit thirsty. Don’t feel hungry, but don’t normally do breakfast anyway.
Done a few little burps (sorry if tmi)
Sorry if someone’s said this and I’ve missed it - but if I’m going to get side effects, when do they normally kick in? Or is it different for different people?

Well done to those that have lost on their first week!

JulesK17 · 06/10/2024 10:21

Week 1 weigh in… 4.5lbs down, as everyone has said, a chunk of that will be water.
My first week went well, day 2 a few toilet trips but no more issues, no nausea but feel more thirsty, I do drink around 2L a day with one electrolyte, I have always used electrolytes- will powders have a great cherry flavour.

Have swapped reaching for chocolate, which was my nemesis. Instead of having my mint chocolate protein after a workout, I use hot water with it on an evening as a hot choc treat.

Food noise has suppressed a bit, not totally hence the choc protein drink. I feel fuller when eating and my portions are much smaller. Apart from the choc fix my meals have always been healthy, at least now my portions are much smaller, which will help reducing my calories.

To all that have weighed this week well done with your results, to all that have started good luck, you’ve got this.

Honestly, Mounjaro has really brought out everyone's redundant math skills.😆

Anyway, it's quite easy given all the posts I read where posters mentioned counting clicks and how many clicks make x dose.

(The only difference from what I did is that everyone I've seen usually goes from 2.5mg to 3.75mg or from 5mg back down to 3.75mg and I wondered why not increase by .5 or 1.0 to help with side effects that people are complaining about. I've not seen anyone mention 3.5mg and to me, it feels like the logical next step if they don't go for 3.0mg. When they're doing half of 7.5mg, then that makes sense but that's usually not why I see people go to 3.75mg. But fair enough, whatever works for people is great).

So I used this chart from a thread to determine how many clicks I need. 12 clicks from a 5mg pen (1mg) and 2.5mg from the 2.5mg pen = 3.5mg. (Injected twice with separate needles because they're from different pens).

With my 5mg pen, I calculated it like this since 3.5mg isn't written on the chart: 30 clicks (2.5mg) + 12 clicks (1mg) = 42 clicks from 5mg pen to get 3.5mg. Same pen, so injected only once as usual. Injection done today!

Sorry to hear of your sleep troubles. I can relate to the dreaming - unusually long, continuous and vivid dreams but I forget most of it once I'm awake. They're not bothersome though so I hope yours settle. Hopefully you sleep better tonight, also try and eat well and drink enough water. It can take a while sometimes but you'll be fine. Hope it works for you.

CatKitt · 06/10/2024 10:25

Sorry here's the click-counting chart. Forgot to attach it in my post.

Reading through previous threads, it differs.

Make sure you keep hydrated, eat bland food for a while, no high fat foods should help to minimise effects. I had a more trips to the toilet on day 2 but it wasn’t horrendous and was manageable.

I subscribe to VOY and they have weekly one on ones which I need, lots of support and advice.

Yes it is. No one can tell if and when they'll get any side effects or what theirs would be. It's a gamble really.

Theres a really easy way to do it. Each pen a dose is 60 clicks. So a 5mg pen is 5mg per 60 clicks.

The calculation is NHS - Need divided by Have multiplied by Supplied in

Need - 3.5mg
Have - 5mg
Supplied in 60 clicks

3.5 divided by 5, then multiplied by 60 = 42 clicks for the dose you want
